RESUMEN

The current work investigates the influence of porous media, homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, and a heat source/sink on the hybrid nanoliquid circulation on three distinct surfaces (cone, plate, and wedge). The system of equations that describe the circulation issue and operating conditions is reduced to ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by using the proper similarity transformations. The Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg 45 order and the shooting approach are used to generate the numerical results. Graphs are used to show how various dimensionless limits affect the associated profiles. The results demonstrate that, in the presence of heat source/sink and porous medium characteristics, respectively, fluid velocity and heat dispersion are high in plate geometry and lower in cone geometry. The concentration profile shows the declination in the presence of both homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction intensities. The surface drag force decreases and the rate of heat dispersion rises with the addition of a porous attribute. Furthermore, cones sprinkle the heat more quickly than wedges, which disperse heat more slowly.

RESUMEN

There are some contributions analyzing the censored medical datasets using modifications of the conventional lifetime distribution; however most of the said contributions did not considered the modification of the Weibull distribution (WD). The WD is an important lifetime model. Due to its prime importance in modeling life data, many researchers have proposed different modifications of WD. One of the most recent modifications of WD is Modified Weibull Extension distribution (MWED). However, the ability of MWED to model the censored medical data has not yet been explored in the literature. We have explored the suitability of the model in modeling censored medical datasets. The analysis has been carried out using Bayesian methods under different loss functions and informative priors. The approximate Bayes estimates have been computed using Lindley's approximation. Based on detailed simulation study and real life analysis, it has been concluded that Bayesian methods performed better as compared to maximum likelihood estimates. In case of small samples, the performance of Bayes estimates under ELF and informative prior was the best. However, in case of large samples, the choice of prior and loss function did not affect the efficiency of the results to a large extend. The MWED performed efficiently in modeling real censored datasets relating to survival times of the leukemia and bile duct cancer patients. The MWED was explored to be a very promising candidate model for modeling censored medical datasets.

RESUMEN

Thermal energy storage via the use of latent heat and phase transition materials is a popular technology in energy storage systems. It is vital to research different thermal enhancement techniques to further improve phase transition materials' weak thermal conductivity in these systems. This work addresses the creation of a basic shell and a tube thermal storage device with wavy outer walls. Then, two key methods for thermal augmentation are discussed: fins and the use of a nano-enhanced phase change material (NePCM). Using the enthalpy-porosity methodology, a numerical model is developed to highlight the viability of designing such a model utilizing reduced assumptions, both for engineering considerations and real-time predictive control methods. Different concentrations of copper nanoparticles (0, 2, and 4 vol%) and wavenumbers (4,6 and 8) are investigated in order to obtain the best heat transmission and acceleration of the melting process. The time required to reach total melting in the studied TES system is reduced by 14% and 31% in the examined TES system, respectively, when NePCM (4 vol% nanoparticles) and N = 8 are used instead of pure PCM and N = 4. The finding from this investigation could be used to design a shell-and-tube base thermal energy storage unit.
