RESUMEN

To address the issue of promoting occupational health and safety at the workplace, this study aimed to evaluate the mediating effect of four different dimensional constructs of Emotional Intelligence (EI) on the influence Occupational Health and Safety Management Practices (OHSMP) hold on safety performance and workplace accidents among oil and gas workers. The study is explanatory research that adopted a cross-sectional survey design. Convenience and stratified sampling techniques were used to select 699 respondents from the three major government-owned oil and gas organizations. The multiple standard regression and bootstrapping mediation methods were used for data analysis after subjecting the data to exploratory and confirmatory factor assessments. Results indicated that OHSMP significantly predicts EI, safety performance, and workplace accidents. Again, EI was found to predict safety performance and workplace accidents significantly. Results also indicated that all the construct dimensions for measuring EI significantly explain the relationship between OHSMP and safety performance, as well as the influence of OHSMP on workplace accidents. The theoretical basis for these findings is that workers with high-level EI are likely to cope with occupational health and safety lapses or safety-related challenges at the workplace by participating and complying with the organization's safety management practices or procedures. Such employees are likely to exhibit safe working behaviors and contribute to improving safety performance in the organization.

The working conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic have been proven to amplify frontline nurses' desire to leave their profession in recent years; thus, exploring new causing variables is vital. This cross-sectional study examined role demands' direct and indirect effects on turnover intention through compassion fatigue and tested the various dimensions of spiritual leadership as moderators on the relationship between compassion fatigue and turnover intention. A total of 527 valid responses were collected from frontline nurses working in designated hospitals across Zhejiang province in China using a survey questionnaire. The outcomes from the hierarchical regression analysis indicated that role demands positively and significantly impacted turnover intention and compassion fatigue. Besides, compassion fatigue significantly and positively affected turnover intention and mediated its relationship with role demands. However, vision and altruistic love moderated the relationship between compassion fatigue and turnover intention, which was not true for the dimension hope/faith. This study's findings are a steppingstone for medical firms' managers and policymakers in demonstrating the likelihood of frontline nurses developing turnover thoughts arising from ambiguous and conflicting roles and the emotional strain from patients' burdens. Furthermore, an exemplary implementation of spiritual leadership could help enhance nurses' sense of calling and membership, essential in embracing the organization's vision and achieving its goals.

BACKGROUND: Hospital electronic information management systems (HEIMS) are widely used in Ghana, and hence its performance must be carefully assessed. Nurses as clinical health personnel are the largest cluster of hospital staff and are the pillar of healthcare delivery. Therefore, they play a crucial role in the adoption and assessment of HEIMSs in Ghana. This report sought to assess the "Social Influence" (SI) and "Facilitating Conditions" (FC) that support Nurses' Acceptance of HEIMS in Ghana using the "Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology" (UTAUT) model. METHODS: This study applied a non-experimental survey design. An electronic platform questionnaire on smartphones was used to collect data on 660 nurses. Statistically, AMOS Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) version 22.0 was employed to examine the research model. RESULTS: "Behavioral Intention" (BI) to HEIMS use was significantly predicted by SI and FC (p < 0.001). Notably, both SI and FC had an influence on nurses' use behavior (UB) with behavioral intention (BI) as the mediator, which explains a total of 42.1% variance in the intention of nurses to use HEIMS. Likewise, UB of HEIMS was also significantly predicted by SI (R2 = 43.2) and BI (R2 = 0.39.6) with both constructs explaining a total of 51.7% of the variance in nurses' acceptance to use HEIMS. CONCLUSION: Nurses' adoption of HEIMS in terms of the UB was influenced by SI and BI, whiles SI and FC had the strongest influence on BI (serving as mediator) of UB to adopt and use HEIMS among the nurses in Ghanaian hospitals.
