[Substitution of soft tissue defects on the lower leg and foot in septic cases]. / Lágyrész defectusok pótlása lábszáron és a lábon szeptikus esetben.

After the spontaneous epithelialisation of the defects of soft parts so called unstable scars remain which, because of ulceration, are sources of infection, endangering both soft parts and bones. Substitution with soft tissues of adequate blood supply enables the complete sanation of the septic foci and by this the rapid healing of the patient with full function. Beside this a better cosmetic result can be achieved. In septic environment, if possible, local muscle flaps and free flaps are used, depending on the extent and localization of the defect. Experiences, gained in these operations are described.

[Preservation of the upper extremity by using an external fixator after deep burn injury]. / Felsö végtag megtartása fixateur externe segítségével mély égés után.

Authors report on conservation of the upper extremity endangered by severe burn of the shoulder region with the use of fixateur externe. No publication describing the use of fixateur externe in burned patients for similar aim was found in the literature.

[New type of combined surgical treatment of frontobasal injuries (author's transl)]. / Frontobazális sérülések új típusú, kombinált mütéti kezelése.

The surgical treatment of frontobasal injuries by a new, combined method has been reported. The frontobasal injury was exposed by bifrontal craniotomy. After the intradural examination and the dressing of the brain injuries the dural defect was also extradurally searched and dressed. Thereafter--taking the advantage of the bifrontal exploration--the paranasal sinus (frontal sinus, ethmoideal system) was cleaned, then the base of the anterior scala was covered with pedicled galea flap or periosteum plate. In case of the treatment of the open injuries, following the removal of the bone fragments, the dural brain injuries and the paranasal sinus injuries were similarly treated, according to the above mentioned principles. This method makes possible to prevent the liquorrhoeic complications as well as the delayed septic complications of the paranasal sinus. The method is recommended to the operative treating of the frontobasal injuries after many years of favourable experiences and supported by good follow-up results.
