RESUMEN

Herein, it is demonstrated that 0D/2D design of zinc sulfide quantum dots encapsulated with yttrium tungstate nanosheets, which were subsequently used to increase the removal of brilliant blue (BB), methyl red (MR) dyes and doxycycline drug using UV-visible light. The produced ZnS-Y2WO6 nanohybrids exhibited excellent catalytic activity, reaching degradation efficiencies of around 89.92%, 80% and 85.51 % for BB, MR dyes and doxycycline drug, respectively, with a minimum irradiation duration of 120, 60 and 125 min. These nanohybrids outperformed Y2WO6 in terms of photocatalytic efficacy due to enhanced light absorption, efficient charge transfer, and decreased charge carrier recombination between ZnS and Y2WO6 nanoparticles. The synergistic combination of ZnS and Y2WO6 nanoparticles resulted in multiple active sites on the composite surface. Furthermore, the ZnS-Y2WO6 nanohybrids maintained excellent degradation efficiencies of 79.45% and 70.12% for BB and MR dyes, respectively, even after five consecutive cycles, with no significant loss of catalytic activity. The produced ZnS-Y2WO6 nanohybrids were thoroughly analyzed utilizing a variety of analytical methods. Furthermore, the degradation of organic dyes and doxycycline drug related possible mechanism were examined using experimental data, indicating the potential of ZnS-Y2WO6 nanohybrids as excellent photocatalytic materials for oxidizing organic dyes and drugs in aquatic conditions.

RESUMEN

A simple sol-gel combustion process was employed for the creation of MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Co) nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles, acting as both photocatalysts and gas sensors, were analyzed using various analytical techniques. MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Co) material improved the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV-light irradiation, serving as an enhanced electron transport medium. UV-vis studies demonstrated that NiFe2O4 achieved a 60% degradation, while CoFe2O4 nanostructure exhibited a 76% degradation efficacy in the MB dye removal process. Furthermore, MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Co) demonstrated chemosensitive-type sensor capabilities at ambient temperature. The sensor response and recovery times for CoFe2O4 at a concentration of 100 ppm were 15 and 20, respectively. Overall, the synthesis of MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Co) holds the potential to significantly improve the photocatalytic and gas sensing properties, particularly enhancing the performance of CoFe2O4. The observed enhancements make honey MFe2O4 (M=Ni, Co) a preferable choice for environmental remediation applications.

RESUMEN

Organic pollutants such as dyes and pharmaceutical drugs have become a significant environmental problem due to their unrestricted discharge, especially in water bodies. As a result, an economically viable and environmentally friendly approach to their degradation in water bodies is required and the incorporation of metal tungstate with single metal oxide has attracted attention due to its potential ability towards the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants. The work demonstrates a WO3/g-C3N4/V2O5 nanocomposite synthesized using a facile route wet impregnation method. The results revealed that WO3/g-C3N4/V2O5 nanocomposites are suitable, mainly for their better surface properties, enhanced visible-light absorption, and preferred band positions. Besides that, the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye is carried out and demonstrated that the complete degradation occurs over 120 min using 10 mg L-1 of WO3/g-C3N4/V2O5 nanocomposite under UV-visible-light irradiation. The scavenger experimental result implies that the photogenerated free electrons and superoxide radials are important role in MB dye degradation. In addition, a possible mechanism is proposed for the photocatalytic activity of WO3/g-C3N4/V2O5 nanocomposite. Moreover, the stability analysis demonstrated that the WO3/g-C3N4/V2O5 nanocomposite can be recycled multiple times.

RESUMEN

The present study, reports a facile approach for the synthesis of FeWO4/FeS2 nanocomposites were demonstrated through hydrothermal method. The surface morphology, crystalline structure, chemical composition, optical properties of the prepared samples was analysed by different various technique. The result observed analysis indicates that, the formation of heterojunction by 2:1wt% of FeWO4/FeS2 nanohybrid has the lowest recombination rate of electron-hole pairs and the least electron transfer resistance. Due to its the broad absorption spectral range and preferable energy band gap, the (2:1) FeWO4/FeS2 nanohybrid photocatalyst exhibits an excellent ability to remove MB dye when exposed to UV-Vis. Light irradiation. Its photocatalytic activity of (2:1) FeWO4/FeS2 nanohybrid is higher than other as prepared samples due to its synergistic effects, enhanced light absorption and high charge carrier separation. Radical trapping experimental result implies that the photo-generated free electrons and hydroxyl radials are essential to degrade the MB dye. Furthermore, a possible future mechanism for FeWO4/FeS2 nanocomposites photocatalytic activity was discussed. Moreover, the recyclability analysis demonstrated that the FeWO4/FeS2 nanocomposites can be recycled multiple times. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of 2:1 FeWO4/FeS2 nanocomposites is promising for the further application of visible light driven photocatalyst in wastewater treatment.

RESUMEN

In recent years, there has been an increase in demand for inexpensive biowaste-derived photocatalysts for the degradation of hazardous dyes and pharmacological drugs. Here, we developed eggshell derived hydroxyapatite nanoparticles entrenched on two-dimensional g-C3N4 nanosheets. The structural, morphological and photophysical behavior of the materials is confirmed through various analytical techniques. The photocatalytic performance of the highly efficient HAp/gC3N4 photocatalyst is evaluated against methylene blue (MB) and doxycycline drug contaminates under UV-visible light exposure. The HAp/gC3N4 photocatalyst exhibit excellent photocatalytic performance for MB dye (93.69%) and doxycycline drug (83.08%) compared to bare HAp and g-C3N4 nanosheets. The ultimate point to note is that the HAp/gC3N4 photocatalyst was recycled in four consecutive cycles without any degradation performance. Superoxide radicals play an important role in degradation performance, which has been confirmed by scavenger experiments. Therefore, the biowaste-derived HAp combined with gC3N4 nanosheets is a promising photocatalyst for the degradation of hazardous dyes and pharmacological drug wastes.

RESUMEN

Fabrication of layered triple hydroxides (LTH) is a typical and remarkable approach to produce new functionalities passionately investigated for photocatalytic removal of organic pollutants from industrial wastewater. The hydrothermal method was used to prepare different weight percentages of yttrium (Y) doped NiMgAl LTH. The structural, functional, optical, and morphological properties of the prepared samples were investigated using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformed-infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The photocatalytic degradation of the different percentages of Y-doped LTH samples were assessed through the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye under the visible light irradiation. When compared to other lower concentrations of Y doping, the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of 1 wt.% Y-doped LTH was higher. Thus, the optimized LTH's improved photocatalytic performance was attributed to increased visible light absorption with low transmission and improved electron-hole separation.
