RESUMEN

This paper illustrates how the size and type of substituent R in the phosphinate group of ferrocenyl bisphosphinic acids can affect conformational possibilities and coordination packing. It also demonstrates that H-phosphinate plays a key role in variational mobility, while Me- or Ph- substituents of the phosphinate group can only lead to 0D complexes or 1D coordination polymer. Overall, this paper provides valuable insights into the design and construction of coordination polymers based on ferrocene-contained linkers. It sheds light on how different reaction conditions and substituents can affect conformational possibilities and coordination packing, which could have significant implications for developing new polymers with unique properties.

RESUMEN

We describe the synthesis and X-ray crystal structure of µ-oxo-bis[(octacosafluoro-meso-tetraphenylporphyrinato)iron(iii)] [(FeTPPF28)2O]. This novel iron complex is an efficient catalyst for oxidative biaryl coupling reactions of diarylamines and carbazoles. The asymmetric oxidative coupling in the presence of an axially chiral biaryl phosphoric acid as co-catalyst provides the 2,2'-bis(arylamino)-1,1'-biaryl in 96% ee. The Wacker-type oxidation of alkenes to the corresponding ketones with (FeTPPF28)2O as catalyst in the presence of phenylsilane proceeds at room temperature with air as the terminal oxidant. For internal and aliphatic alkenes increased ketone/alcohol product ratios were obtained.

RESUMEN

We describe an iron-catalyzed asymmetric oxidative C-C coupling of diarylamines which proceeds at room temperature with air as final oxidant. Using hexadecafluorophthalocyanine-iron(II) as catalyst in the presence of catalytic amounts of an axially chiral biaryl phosphoric acid, the resulting chiral 2,2'-diamino-1,1'-biaryls are obtained in up to 90 % ee as confirmed by chiral HPLC. A detailed mechanism has been proposed with a radical cation-chiral phosphate ion pair as key intermediate leading to the observed asymmetric induction.

RESUMEN

A coordination polymer has been synthesized using ferrocene-based ligand-bearing phosphinic groups of 1,1'-ferrocene-diyl-bis(H-phosphinic acid)), and samarium (III). The coordination polymer's structure was studied by both single-crystal and powder XRD, TG, IR, and Raman analyses. For the first time, the Mössbauer effect studies were performed on ferrocenyl phosphinate and the polymer based on it. Additionally, the obtained polymer was studied by the method of cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry. It is shown that it has the most positive potential known among ferrocenyl phosphinate-based coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks. Using the values of the oxidation potential, the polymer was oxidized and the ESR method verified the oxidized Fe(III) form in the solid state. Additionally, the effect of the size of the phosphorus atom substituent of the phosphinate group on the dimension of the resulting coordination compounds is shown.

RESUMEN

We describe the oxygenation of tertiary arylamines, and the amination of tertiary arylamines and phenols. The key step of these coupling reactions is an iron-catalyzed oxidative C-O or C-N bond formation which generally provides the corresponding products in high yields and with excellent regioselectivity. The transformations are accomplished using hexadecafluorophthalocyanine-iron(II) (FePcF16 ) as catalyst in the presence of an acid or a base additive and require only ambient air as sole oxidant.

RESUMEN

New 1-cetyl-4-aza-1-azoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane bromide complexes with copper(II) bromide and lanthanum(III) nitrate were characterized using dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy, with self-assembly and the morphological behavior elucidated. For the lanthanum(III) nitrate complex, the 3D crystal structure was characterized using X-ray diffractometry. These metallosurfactants were tested as antitumor agents, and a high cytotoxic effect comparable with doxorubicin was revealed against the M-HeLa and A-549 cell lines. Both complexes were 2 times more active toward the MCF-7 cell line than the breast cancer drug tamoxifen. The cytotoxic mechanism of complexes is assumed to be related to the induction of apoptosis through the mitochondrial pathway.

RESUMEN

Herein, we describe a convenient and general method for the oxidation of olefins to ketones using either tris(dibenzoylmethanato)iron(III) [Fe(dbm)3 ] or a combination of iron(II) chloride and neocuproine (2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) as catalysts and phenylsilane (PhSiH3 ) as additive. All reactions proceed efficiently at room temperature using air as sole oxidant. This transformation has been applied to a variety of substrates, is operationally simple, proceeds under mild reaction conditions, and shows a high functional-group tolerance. The ketones are formed smoothly in up to 97 % yield and with 100 % regioselectivity, while the corresponding alcohols were observed as by-products. Labeling experiments showed that an incorporated hydrogen atom originates from the phenylsilane. The oxygen atom of the ketone as well as of the alcohol derives from the ambient atmosphere.

RESUMEN

A new efficient approach to the synthesis of 6-alkenyl substituted pyridoxine derivatives has been developed. A series of 31 novel alkenyl pyridoxine derivatives, stilbene-based bioisosteric analogs of estradiol, were synthesized. In vitro cytotoxicity of the obtained compounds against MCF-7 (ER+) breast cancer tumor cells was studied using the MTT assay. The most active compounds with IC50,MCF-7 < 10 µM were also tested for cytotoxicity in vitro against MDA-MB-231 (ER-) breast adenocarcinoma cells and conditionally normal human skin fibroblasts (HSF). The patterns of structure-antitumor activity relationships of the obtained compounds were analyzed. The most active compounds were found to contain a six-membered ketal ring, a methyl group in position 5, a 3,4-dimethoxystyryl fragment in positions 2 or 6 of the pyridoxine ring, and a trans-configuration of the double bond. Using the most active compound 5a as a representative cytotoxic agent, we have demonstrated that it has high specificity and antiproliferative activity against MCF-7 (ER+) tumor cells (IC50 < 5 µM), and a higher therapeutic index compared to the reference compound raloxifene (48 versus 5.8). Compound 5a decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential and increased the level of reactive oxygen species in MCF-7 cells, but not MDA-MB-231 cells. Compound 5a did not affect the distribution of cell cycle phases and induced apoptosis in MCF-7 cells, but not MDA-MB-231. Unlike compound 5a, raloxifene decreased mitochondrial potential, increased the ROS level, and induced apoptosis in both MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells, which indicated a lack of selectivity for cells with estrogen receptor expression. It was also shown that compound 5a reduced the level of ERα expression in cells to a lesser extent than raloxifene and, unlike the latter, did not activate the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

RESUMEN

A new family of sterically hindered alkyl(tri-tert-butyl) phosphonium salts (n-CnH2n+1 with n = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20) was synthesized and evaluated as stabilizers for the formation of palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs), and the prepared PdNPs, stabilized by a series of phosphonium salts, were applied as catalysts of the Suzuki cross-coupling reaction. All investigated phosphonium salts were found to be excellent stabilizers of metal nanoparticles of small catalytically active size with a narrow size distribution. In addition, palladium nanoparticles exhibited exceptional stability: the presence of phosphonium salts prevented agglomeration and precipitation during the catalytic reaction.

RESUMEN

The reaction between aryl substituted sodium 1,2,3-triphospholides or disodium bis(1,2,3-triphospholide) and [Fe(η6-(C6H5CH3)Cp]+[PF6]- in boiling diglyme results in pure 1,2,3-triphosphaferrocenes 1-3 or bis(1,2,3-triphosphaferrocene) 4, respectively, in good yields. The structure of all obtained 1,2,3-triphosphaferrocenes 1-4 has been extensively studied experimentally (NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and X-ray analysis for 1 and 4) and quantum chemically. The electrochemical properties of 1,2,3-triphosphaferrocenes 1-4 in the solid state were studied for the first time and a reversible one-electron oxidation (E1/2 = 0.52-0.92 V vs. Fc+/Fc) was demonstrated for 1, 3, and 4. In the case of 1,4-bis(5-phenyl-4-(1,2,3-triphospaferrocenyl))benzene 4, consecutive oxidation in the solid state is observed in contrast to other 1,2,3-triphosphaferrocenes 1-3. According to the ESR data, the g-factor of the oxidized bis(1,2,3-triphosphaferrocene), 4 (g = 2.12) is different from the g-factors of oxidized 1,2,3-triphosphaferrocenes 1-3 (g = 2.01). This is the first example of multi(ferrocenyl) systems based on the phosphaferrocene motif, which in turn opens up a new fundamental platform for the preparation of compounds with stimuli-responsive properties.

RESUMEN

We describe the synthesis and photophysical properties of tetraarylnaphthidines. Our synthetic approach is based on an iron-catalyzed oxidative C-C coupling reaction as the key step using a hexadecafluorinated iron-phthalocyanine complex as a catalyst and air as the sole oxidant. The N,N,N',N'-tetraarylnaphthidines proved to be highly fluorescent with quantum yields of up to 68%.

RESUMEN

The reaction of triferrocenylthiophosphite with elemental sulfur leads to triferrocenyltetrathiophosphate. The molecule of tetrathiophosphate adopts propeller-like all synclinal-conformation of the ferrocenyl fragments respective to the P=S bond. All ferrocenyl groups have nearly ideal eclipsed conformation of the cyclopentadienyl fragments. The Fc3S3P (1), Fc3S3P=O, (2) and Fc3S3P=S (3) demonstrate three reversible and well-separated ferrocenyl-based redox events. The electronic structures of 1-3 have been studied quantum-chemically; the energies and composition of frontier orbitals have been calculated.

RESUMEN

A mild procedure for the oxidative C-C cross-coupling of tertiary anilines with phenols is described which provides the products generally in high yields and with excellent selectivity. The reaction is catalyzed by the hexadecafluorinated iron-phthalocyanine complex FePcF16 in the presence of substoichiometric amounts of methanesulfonic acid and ambient air as sole oxidant.

RESUMEN

A new redox active coordination polymer [Co(H2O)2(Fc(PHOO)2)·2H2O]n (Fc = ferrocene) was synthesized by the diffusion method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Phosphinate fragments formed infinite chains connected through ferrocene fragments to 2D PCP associated with cobalt atoms. Additional strong hydrogen bonding via the participation of coordinated and lattice water molecules resulted in the formation of a 3D network. The polymer exhibited water-induced crystal-to-amorphous transformation with chromotropism, as confirmed by spectroscopic techniques, elemental analysis, TGA and XRPD. The explosion of the amorphous phase [Co(Fc(PHOO)2)]n to form water vapor readily led to its conversion into the initial crystalline [Co(H2O)2(Fc(PHOO)2)·2H2O]n with a reverse change of color. The dehydrated form of the polymer selectively sorbed water and could be used as a material with the function of an express dehydrator. Moreover, a modified electrode could qualitatively determine the water content in the solvent at a concentration of 0.05%. Both hydrated and dehydrated forms were evaluated as electrode materials for supercapacitors. The [Co(Fc(PHOO)2)]n (dehydrated form) electrode exhibited high specific capacitance and excellent cycling stability. Its maximum specific capacitance was 2517 F g-1 at a current density of 2 A g-1, and the specific capacitance retention was about 90.1% after 1000 cycles.

RESUMEN

The interaction of manganese(ii) phthalocyanine with 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane and its perfluoro derivative proceeds with the oxidation of Mn and the reduction of the acceptor molecules to give the first mixed single crystals of manganese(iii) phthalocyanine with TCNQ/F4-TCNQ radical anions. The crystals have unusual structures with C-Hπ interactions between the ions and their orthogonal arrangement, as well as remarkable redox properties. The charge transfer was proved by spectroscopic and magnetic studies.

RESUMEN

New nickel-based complexes of 1,2-bis[(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imino]acenaphthene (dpp-bian) with BF4 - counterion or halide co-ligands were synthesized in THF and MeCN. The nickel(I) complexes were obtained by using two approaches: 1) electrochemical reduction of the corresponding nickel(II) precursors; and 2) a chemical comproportionation reaction. The structural features and redox properties of these complexes were investigated by using single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and UV/Vis spectroscopy. The influence of temperature and solvent on the structure of the nickel(I) complexes was studied in detail, and an uncommon reversible solvent-induced monomer/dimer transformation was observed. In the case of the fluoride complex, the unpaired electron was found to be localized on the dpp-bian ligand, whereas all of the other nickel complexes contained neutral dpp-bian moieties.

RESUMEN

New redox active 1D helical coordination polymers M(fcdHp) (M(ii) = Zn(1), Co(2)) have been obtained by utilizing the 1,1'-ferrocenylenbis(H-phosphinic) acid (H2fcdHp) ligand and Zn or Co nitrate salts. Complexes 1 and 2 are isomorphic, crystallizing in the chiral space groups P4122 and P4322, respectively. Their redox, electrocatalytic and other properties are described. These compounds incorporated into carbon paste electrodes and exhibited reversible redox reactions, arising from the ferrocenyl moiety. These coordination polymers are efficient as electrocatalysts for the reduction of protons to hydrogen. Using N,N-dimethylformamidium ([DMF(H)+]) as the acid in the acetonitrile solution, Co CP (2) displays a turnover frequency of 300 s-1, which is among the fastest rates reported for any CP electrocatalyst in CH3CN. This high rate of catalytic reaction comes at the cost of the 820-840 mV overpotential at the potential of catalysis. As the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalysts, the CPs exhibited in 0.5 M H2SO4 the overpotential η10 of 340 or 450 mV, onset overpotential of 220 or 300 mV (vs. RHE), Tafel slope of 110 or 120 mV dec-1, correspondingly for 1 and 2, and considerable long-term stability for the HER.

RESUMEN

We describe the first enantioselective total synthesis and the assignment of the absolute configuration of the furo[3,2- a]carbazole alkaloid furoclausine-B. As key steps for our approach we used a palladium(II)-catalyzed double C-H-bond activation for the construction of the carbazole framework, a Shi epoxidation, and an intramolecular opening of the epoxide for annulation of the dihydrofuran moiety.

RESUMEN

Two series of novel pyridoxine-based azaheterocyclic analogs of feruloyl methane (Dehydrozingerone, DZG) were synthesized, and their biological activity against a panel of tumor and normal cell lines was evaluated in vitro. The most active compounds possessed expressed cytotoxic activity, which was comparable to cytotoxic activity of doxorubicin and significantly higher than that of DZG, and a remarkable selectivity for the studied cancer cell lines as compared to the normal cells. The leading compound and DZG initiated arrest of the cell cycle in the G2/M phase, preventing normal division and further transition of daughter cells to the G0/G1 phase. Similar to DZG, but with higher efficiency, the leading compound was able to inhibit migration activity and, therefore, invasiveness of tumor cells. It also increased concentration of reactive oxygen species in tumor cells, induced depolarization of mitochondrial membranes and initiated apoptosis accompanied by disruption of integrity of cytoplasmic cell membranes. By contrast to DZG, the leading compound did not possess antioxidant properties. The obtained data make the described chemotype a promising starting point for the development of new anticancer agents.

RESUMEN

Crystals of four new copper(II) complexes have been grown from copper(II) acetate/chloride-1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium acetate/chloride-water systems and characterized by X-ray analysis. The first complex, bis-(1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium) tetra-µ-acetato-bis[chloridocuprate(II)], [Emim]2[Cu2(C2H3O2)4Cl2] (1) (Emim is 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium, C6H11N2), contains [Cu2(C2H3O2)4Cl2]2- coordination anions with a paddle-wheel structure and ionic liquid cations. Two of the synthesized complexes are one-dimensional polymers, namely catena-poly[1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium [[tetra-µ-acetato-dicuprate(II)]-µ-chlorido] monohydrate], {[Emim][Cu2(C2H3O2)4Cl]·H2O} n (2), and catena-poly[1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium [[tetra-µ-acetato-dicuprate(II)]-µ-acetato]], {[Emim][Cu2(C2H3O2)5]} n (3). In these compounds, the Cu2(C2H3O2)4 units with a paddle-wheel structure are connected to each other through chloride (in 2) or acetate (in 3) anions to form parallel chains, between which cations of ionic liquid are situated. The last compound, bis-(1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium) tetra-µ-acetato-bis[aquacopper(II)] tetra-µ-acetato-bis[acetatocuprate(II)] dihydrate, [Emim]2[Cu2(C2H3O2)4(H2O)2][Cu2(C2H3O2)6]·2H2O (4), contains two different binuclear coordination units (neutral and anionic), connected through hydrogen bonds between water mol-ecules and acetate ions.
