RESUMEN

Topological physics relies on Hamiltonian's eigenstate singularities carrying topological charges, such as Dirac points, and - in non-Hermitian systems - exceptional points (EPs), lines or surfaces. So far, the reported non-Hermitian topological transitions were related to the creation of a pair of EPs connected by a Fermi arc out of a single Dirac point by increasing non-Hermiticity. Such EPs can annihilate by reducing non-Hermiticity. Here, we demonstrate experimentally that an increase of non-Hermiticity can lead to the annihilation of EPs issued from different Dirac points (valleys). The studied platform is a liquid crystal microcavity with voltage-controlled birefringence and TE-TM photonic spin-orbit-coupling. Non-Hermiticity is provided by polarization-dependent losses. By increasing the non-Hermiticity degree, we control the position of the EPs. After the intervalley annihilation, the system becomes free of any band singularity. Our results open the field of non-Hermitian valley-physics and illustrate connections between Hermitian topology and non-Hermitian phase transitions.

RESUMEN

A total number of 608 cycles of G-CSF and/or GM-CSF was applied in 280 patients aged from 6 months to 20 years during neutropaenia associated with chemotherapy of children's neoplasms (NHL-124, NBL-42, RMS-36, Nephroblastoma-18, Osteosarcoma-17, Ewing's Sarcoma-14, Hepatoblastoma-6, Neurofibrosarcoma-6, PNET-5, Medulloblastoma-3, Fibrohistiocytoma-3, Angiosarcoma-2, other - 4). G-CSF - Neupogen (Filgastrim, Hoffman La Roche - 492 cycles) and GM-CSF - Leucomax (Molgramostim, Shering Plough - 116 cycles) were administered 5 mg/kg/day s.c. Forty one children with malignancies (NHL -21 cases, solid tumours -17) treated before cytokines were in use served as a control group. Our study demonstrated that G-CSF and GM-CSF therapy, gives a shorter period of neutropaenia, reduction of the number of febrile days, decreased frequency of infection and shortened its duration.

RESUMEN

Total number of 306 cycles of GM-CSF-Leucomax Sandoz (5 mg/kg/day s.c.) and/or G-CSF Filgrastim Hoffmann-La Roche (5-10 mg/kg/day s.c.) was applied in 146 children aged from 0.5-18 years during neutropenia associated with chemotherapy of solid tumours. Seventeen children with malignancies served as a historical control group. Our study have demonstrated after both G- and GM-CSF therapy shorter period of neutropenia, reduction of the number of febrile days and a decreased frequency of infectious complications and infection's duration.

RESUMEN

Total number of 252 cycles of GM-CSF-Leucomax Sandoz (5 mg/kg/day s.c.) and/or G-CSF Filgrastim Hoffmann-La Roche (5-10 mg/kg/day s.c.) was applied in 124 children aged from 0.5-20 years during neutropenia associated with chemotherapy of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Twenty four children with NHL treated according to the same chemotherapy protocol but without G-CSF and GM-CSF served as a control group. Our study have demonstrated the good efficacy of both G-CSF and GM-CSF therapy. They shortened the period of neutropenia, reduced the number of febrile days, infection's duration and decreased the frequency of infectious complications.

RESUMEN

A method of determining the inorganic constituents of the subretinal fluid using atomic absorption spectrometry is presented. Due to the small volumes available of the samples, the addition of diluents was necessary in order to be able to carry out an analysis of the elements at the most sensitive wavelength in the optimal range of the calibration curve. Details concerning standard solutions, laboratory equipment, sample preparation, precision and accuracy are also considered.

RESUMEN

The inorganic constituents of the subretinal fluid (SRF) were analyzed using atomic absorption spectrometry. Four main elements (Na, K, Ca, Mg) were determined in 41 samples; Cu was determined in 36 samples and Zn in 24 samples. The results are presented graphically, taking into account the concentrations of each element in the SRF and the number of cases. In 9 cases, the concentrations of the inorganic elements were also determined in blood serum; it was established that the SRF is richer in Mg than blood serum and poorer in the other elements. No correlation was found between the concentration of the inorganic elements in the SRF and the clinical picture of retinal detachment.
