RESUMEN

Real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) is a powerful tool for the precise quantification of nucleic acids in various applications. In cancer management, the monitoring of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) from liquid biopsies can provide valuable information for precision care, including treatment selection and monitoring, prognosis, and early detection. However, the rare and heterogeneous nature of ctDNA has made its precise detection and quantification challenging, particularly for ctDNA containing hotspot mutations. We have developed a new real-time PCR tool, PROMER technology, which enables the precise and sensitive detection of ctDNA containing cancer-driven single-point mutations. The PROMER functions as both a PRObe and priMER, providing enhanced detection specificity. We validated PROMER technology using synthetic templates with known KRAS point mutations and demonstrated its sensitivity and linearity of quantification. Using genomic DNA from human cancer cells with mutant and wild-type KRAS, we confirmed that PROMER PCR can detect mutant DNA. Furthermore, we demonstrated the ability of PROMER technology to efficiently detect mutation-carrying ctDNA from the plasma of mice with human cancers. Our results suggest that PROMER technology represents a promising new tool for the precise detection and quantification of DNA containing point mutations in the presence of a large excess of wild-type counterpart.

PURPOSE: Lower-grade gliomas of histologic grades 2 and 3 follow heterogenous clinical outcomes, which necessitates risk stratification. This study aimed to evaluate whether diffusion-weighted and perfusion-weighted MRI radiomics allow overall survival (OS) prediction in patients with lower-grade gliomas and investigate its prognostic value. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this retrospective study, radiomic features were extracted from apparent diffusion coefficient, relative cerebral blood volume map, and Ktrans map in patients with pathologically confirmed lower-grade gliomas (January 2012-February 2019). The radiomics risk score (RRS) calculated from selected features constituted a radiomics model. Multivariable Cox regression analysis, including clinical features and RRS, was performed. The models' integrated area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (iAUCs) were compared. The radiomics model combined with clinical features was presented as a nomogram. RESULTS: The study included 129 patients (median age, 44 years; interquartile range, 37-57 years; 63 female): 90 patients for training set and 39 patients for test set. The RRS was an independent risk factor for OS with a hazard ratio of 6.01. The combined clinical and radiomics model achieved superior performance for OS prediction compared to the clinical model in both training (iAUC, 0.82 vs. 0.72, p=0.002) and test sets (0.88 vs. 0.76, p=0.04). The radiomics nomogram combined with clinical features exhibited good agreement between the actual and predicted OS with C-index of 0.83 and 0.87 in the training and test sets, respectively. CONCLUSION: Adding diffusion- and perfusion-weighted MRI radiomics to clinical features improved survival prediction in lower-grade glioma.

RESUMEN

Pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma, an uncommon subtype of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, is characterized by an aggressive course and poor prognosis, with the only method of cure being surgical resection at the time of diagnosis. It is a complex condition, as it presents nonspecifically and remains indistinguishable from pancreatic adenocarcinoma without imaging techniques despite its aggressive nature. We report an atypical case of pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma, presenting with marked anemia, found on endoscopy to have a gastric mass. This is of interest to readers as a reminder that pancreatic cancers may present with gastric invasion and should remain on the differential diagnosis for gastric lesions.

BACKGROUND: Tsutsugamushi (scrub typhus) is an acute infectious febrile disease common in the Asia-Pacific region. Common symptoms of tsutsugamushi include lymphadenopathy, fever, and myalgia, and it rarely causes acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, we hypothesized that tsutsugamushi infection could trigger AIS. METHOD: We retrospectively examined patients diagnosed with AIS within 2 weeks of tsutsugamushi diagnosis at three hospitals over a 15-year period. We categorized patients who developed AIS while being treated for tsutsugamushi as the case group and those (of similar age and sex) who did not develop AIS as the control group. The case and control groups consisted of 22 and 66 participants, respectively. When a scattered pattern was observed or lesions were found in two or more vascular territories on diffusion-weighted imaging, the pattern was defined as embolic. Other patterns were defined as nonembolic. RESULTS: Among the 19 patients, excluding three with transient ischemic stroke, 15 (78.9%) showed an embolic pattern. Although fever was common in the control group, it was less common in the case group. A higher D-dimer level at the time of hospitalization was associated with the development of AIS in patients with tsutsugamushi. CONCLUSIONS: AIS in patients with tsutsugamushi showed an embolic rather than a non-embolic pattern on brain magnetic resonance imaging. It was more likely to occur in patients with risk factors for stroke. Tsutsugamushi patients with AIS were likely to have no fever or high D-dimer levels. We hypothesized that D-dimers play an important role in the pathophysiology, where tsutsugamushi infection increases the likelihood of AIS.

Inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) are a heterogeneous group of diverse clinical and genetic phenotypes that have an estimated combined prevalence as high as 1/1000. Increased risk of frequent, severe, or opportunistic infections is a common feature of IEIs, but there are also diverse immune-mediated, non-infective complications that are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. As patient survival increases, these are becoming more apparent within the liver. Hepatic involvement of IEIs may not only manifest as infections, but also nodular regenerative hyperplasia, granulomatous disease, autoimmune hepatitis and malignancy. As therapeutic options for patients are expanding, with both pharmaceutical treatments as well as haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), iatrogenic liver injury is increasingly common and important to identify. This review article summarises the spectrum of hepatic complications seen in IEIs, and highlights the challenges of management within this patient cohort, where immunosuppression is poorly tolerated. Early recognition and prompt diagnosis of potential hepatic complications is therefore crucial in ensuring potentially reversible causes are treated, but significant uncertainty remains regarding best practice for many features of immune dysregulation with limited high-quality evidence.

OBJECTIVES: Sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) follows a poor prognosis with high tendency for local recurrence. We aimed to evaluate whether MRI radiomics can predict early local failure in sinonasal SCC. METHODS: Sixty-eight consecutive patients with node-negative sinonasal SCC (January 2005-December 2020) were enrolled, allocated to the training (n = 47) and test sets (n = 21). Early local failure, which occurred within 12 months of completion of initial treatment, was the primary endpoint. For clinical features (age, location, treatment modality, and clinical T stage), binary logistic regression analysis was performed. For 186 extracted radiomic features, different feature selections and classifiers were combined to create two prediction models: (1) a pure radiomics model; and (2) a combined model with clinical features and radiomics. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) were calculated and compared using DeLong's method. RESULTS: Early local failure occurred in 38.3% (18/47) and 23.8% (5/21) in the training and test sets, respectively. We identified several radiomic features which were strongly associated with early local failure. In the test set, both the best-performing radiomics model and the combined model (clinical + radiomic features) yielded higher AUCs compared to the clinical model (AUC, 0.838 vs. 0.438, p = 0.020; 0.850 vs. 0.438, p = 0.016, respectively). The performances of the best-performing radiomics model and the combined model did not differ significantly (AUC, 0.838 vs. 0.850, p = 0.904). CONCLUSION: MRI radiomics integrated with a machine learning classifier may predict early local failure in patients with sinonasal SCC. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: MRI radiomics intergrated with machine learning classifiers may predict early local failure in sinonasal squamous cell carcinomas more accurately than the clinical model. KEY POINTS: • A subset of radiomic features which showed significant association with early local failure in patients with sinonasal squamous cell carcinomas was identified. • MRI radiomics integrated with machine learning classifiers can predict early local failure with high accuracy, which was validated in the test set (area under the curve = 0.838). • The combined clinical and radiomics model yielded superior performance for early local failure prediction compared to that of the radiomics (area under the curve 0.850 vs. 0.838 in the test set), without a statistically significant difference.

Arachidonic and adrenic acids in the membrane play key roles in ferroptosis. Here, we reveal that lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) controls intracellular phospholipid metabolism and contributes to ferroptosis resistance. A metabolic drug screen reveals that darapladib, an inhibitor of Lp-PLA2, synergistically induces ferroptosis in the presence of GPX4 inhibitors. We show that darapladib is able to enhance ferroptosis under lipoprotein-deficient or serum-free conditions. Furthermore, we find that Lp-PLA2 is located in the membrane and cytoplasm and suppresses ferroptosis, suggesting a critical role for intracellular Lp-PLA2. Lipidomic analyses show that darapladib treatment or deletion of PLA2G7, which encodes Lp-PLA2, generally enriches phosphatidylethanolamine species and reduces lysophosphatidylethanolamine species. Moreover, combination treatment of darapladib with the GPX4 inhibitor PACMA31 efficiently inhibits tumour growth in a xenograft model. Our study suggests that inhibition of Lp-PLA2 is a potential therapeutic strategy to enhance ferroptosis in cancer treatment.

Oral L-arginine supplements are popular mainly for their nitric oxide mediated vasodilation, but their physiological impact is not fully known. L-arginine is a substrate of several enzymes including arginase, nitric oxide synthase, arginine decarboxylase, and arginine: glycine amidinotransferase (AGAT). We have published a study on the physiological impact of oral L- and D-arginine at 500 mg/kg/day for 4 wks in male Sprague-Dawley rats. We investigated the effects of oral L-arginine and D-arginine at a higher dose of 1000 mg/kg/d for a longer treatment duration of 16 wks in 9-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats. We measured the expression and activity of L-arginine metabolizing enzymes, and levels of their metabolites in the plasma and various organs. L-arginine did not affect the levels of L-arginine and L-lysine in the plasma and various organs. L-arginine decreased arginase protein expression in the upper small intestine, and arginase activity in the plasma. It also decreased AGAT protein expression in the liver, and creatinine levels in the urine. L-arginine altered arginine decarboxylase protein expression in the upper small intestine and liver, with increased total polyamines plasma levels. Endothelial nitric oxide synthase protein was increased with D-arginine, the presumed metabolically inert isomer, but not L-arginine. In conclusion, oral L-arginine and D-arginine at a higher dose and longer treatment duration significantly altered various enzymes and metabolites in the arginine metabolic pathways, which differed from alterations produced by a lower dose shorter duration treatment published earlier. Further studies with differing doses and duration would allow for a better understanding of oral L-arginine uses, and evidence based safe and effective dose range and duration.

In vivo bone remodeling is promoted by the balance between osteoclast and osteoblast activity. Conventional research on bone regeneration has mainly focused on increasing osteoblast activity, with limited studies on the effects of scaffold topography on cell differentiation. Here, we examined the effect of microgroove-patterned substrate with spacings ranging from 1 to 10 µm on the differentiation of rat bone marrow-derived osteoclast precursors. Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining and relative gene expression quantification showed that osteoclast differentiation was enhanced in substrate with 1 µm microgroove spacing compared with that in the other groups. Additionally, the ratio of podosome maturation stages in substrate with 1 µm microgroove spacing exhibited a distinct pattern, which was characterized by an increase in the ratio of belts and rings and a decrease in that of clusters. However, myosin II abolished the effects of topography on osteoclast differentiation. Overall, these showed that the reduction of myosin II tension in the podosome core by an integrin vertical vector increased podosome stability and promoted osteoclast differentiation in substrates with 1 µm microgroove spacing, including that microgroove design plays an important role in scaffolds for bone regeneration. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Reduction of myosin II tension in the podosome core, facilitated by an integrin vertical vector, resulted in an enhanced osteoclast differentiation, concomitant with an increase in podosome stability within 1-µm-spaced microgrooves. These findings are anticipated to serve as valuable indicators for the regulation of osteoclast differentiation through the manipulation of biomaterial surface topography in tissue engineering. Furthermore, this study contributes to the lucidation of the underlying mechanisms governing cellular differentiation by providing insights into the impact of the microtopographical environment.

OBJECTIVES: This systematic review aimed to identify the effects of normal saline instillation before endotracheal suctioning on clinical outcomes in critically ill patients on a mechanical ventilator. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: This review was based on the guidelines of the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency in Korea and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist. Six electronic databases were searched for relevant literature. Other sources were also searched, including the reference lists of identified reports and previous systematic reviews. After the initial literature search, a two-step retrieval process was performed to select eligible studies. Then, data were collected using a newly developed form, and the risk of bias was assessed using the checklists of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Data were analyzed using both narrative syntheses and meta-analyses. RESULTS: In total, 16 studies: 13 randomized controlled trials and three quasi-experimental studies, were included. From the narrative syntheses, instilling normal saline before endotracheal suctioning was associated with a decrease in oxygen saturation, prolonged time for oxygen saturation to recover to baseline, decreased arterial pH, increased secretion amount, reduced incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, increased heart rate, and increased systolic blood pressure. Meta-analyses showed a significant difference in heart rate at five minutes after suctioning but no significant differences in oxygen saturation at two and five minutes after suctioning and heart rate at two minutes after suctioning. CONCLUSION: This systematic review indicated that instilling normal saline before performing endotracheal suctioning has more harmful effects than benefits. IMPLICATIONS FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE: As recommended in the current guidelines, it is necessary to refrain from routine normal saline instillation before endotracheal suctioning.

Most nucleic acid biosensors employ nucleic acid-processing enzymes to bind, degrade, splice, synthesize, and modify nucleic acids. Utilizing their unique substrate preference, binding mode, and catalytic activity is of great importance in designing nucleic acid biosensors. Combination with DNA-processing enzymes enables them to transform into a new generation of molecular diagnostics tools with enhanced selectivity and sensitivity and reduced reaction time. Here, we report an isothermal amplification strategy by coemploying a structure-specific endonuclease (flap endonuclease 1, FEN1) and a strand-displacing DNA polymerase (Bst DNA polymerase) to detect long RNA targets. This approach couples the FEN1-driven invasive cleavage reaction with toehold-mediated rolling circle amplification (iFEN-tRCA), enabling the highly selective and rapid detection of long RNA targets and offering a detection limit below 10 pM within 1 h. We used two targets, such as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2, encoded by ERBB2) and dopamine- and cyclic AMP-regulated phosphoprotein (DARPP, encoded by PPP1R1B), associated with prognosis or response to anticancer therapy. We demonstrated the feasibility and quantitative capability of the iFEN-tRCA assay by assessing the expression of two RNA transcripts (ERBB2 and PPP1R1B) with total RNA extracts purified from human breast cancer cells. Therefore, we envision that the developed assay will provide a suitable prognostic and diagnostic tool for identifying appropriate patients for HER2-targeted therapy and predicting the clinical outcome and occurrence of metastasis relapse in breast cancer.

OBJECTIVES: To develop a fully automatic radiomics model to differentiate adult pilocytic astrocytomas (PA) from high-grade gliomas (HGGs). METHODS: This retrospective study included 302 adult patients with PA (n = 62) or HGG (n = 240). The patients were randomly divided into training (n = 211) and test (n = 91) sets. Clinical data were obtained, and radiomic features (n = 372) were extracted from multiparametric MRI with automatic tumour segmentation. After feature selection with F-score, a Light Gradient Boosting Machine classifier with subsampling was trained to develop three models: (1) clinical model, (2) radiomics model, and (3) combined clinical and radiomics model. Human performance was also assessed. The performance of the classifier was validated in the test set. SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) was applied to explore the interpretability of the model. RESULTS: A total of 15 radiomic features were selected. In the test set, the combined clinical and radiomics model (area under the curve [AUC], 0.93) showed a significantly higher performance than the clinical model (AUC, 0.79, p = 0.037) and had a similar performance to the radiomics model (AUC, 0.92, p = 0.828). The combined clinical and radiomics model also showed a significantly higher performance than humans (AUC, 0.76-0.81, p < 0.05). The model explanation by SHAP suggested that lower intratumoural heterogeneity from T2-weighted images was highly associated with PA diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS: The fully automatic combined clinical and radiomics model may be helpful for differentiating adult PAs from HGGs. KEY POINTS: • Differentiating adult PAs from HGGs is challenging because PAs may manifest a large spectrum of imaging presentations, often including aggressive imaging features. • The fully automatic combined clinical and radiomics model showed a significantly higher performance than the clinical model or humans. • The model explanation by SHAP suggested that second-order features from T2-weighted imaging were important in diagnosis and might reflect the underlying pathophysiology that PAs have lesser tissue heterogeneity than HGGs.

OBJECTIVE: Our study aimed to evaluate the quality of radiomics studies on brain metastases based on the radiomics quality score (RQS), Transparent Reporting of a multivariable prediction model for Individual Prognosis Or Diagnosis (TRIPOD) checklist, and the Image Biomarker Standardization Initiative (IBSI) guidelines. MATERIALS AND METHODS: PubMed MEDLINE, and EMBASE were searched for articles on radiomics for evaluating brain metastases, published until February 2021. Of the 572 articles, 29 relevant original research articles were included and evaluated according to the RQS, TRIPOD checklist, and IBSI guidelines. RESULTS: External validation was performed in only three studies (10.3%). The median RQS was 3.0 (range, -6 to 12), with a low basic adherence rate of 50.0%. The adherence rate was low in comparison to the "gold standard" (10.3%), stating the potential clinical utility (10.3%), performing the cut-off analysis (3.4%), reporting calibration statistics (6.9%), and providing open science and data (3.4%). None of the studies involved test-retest or phantom studies, prospective studies, or cost-effectiveness analyses. The overall rate of adherence to the TRIPOD checklist was 60.3% and low for reporting title (3.4%), blind assessment of outcome (0%), description of the handling of missing data (0%), and presentation of the full prediction model (0%). The majority of studies lacked pre-processing steps, with bias-field correction, isovoxel resampling, skull stripping, and gray-level discretization performed in only six (20.7%), nine (31.0%), four (3.8%), and four (13.8%) studies, respectively. CONCLUSION: The overall scientific and reporting quality of radiomics studies on brain metastases published during the study period was insufficient. Radiomics studies should adhere to the RQS, TRIPOD, and IBSI guidelines to facilitate the translation of radiomics into the clinical field.

PURPOSE: In glioma, molecular alterations are closely associated with disease prognosis. This study aimed to develop a radiomics-based multiple gene prediction model incorporating mutual information of each genetic alteration in glioblastoma and grade 4 astrocytoma, IDH-mutant. METHODS: From December 2014 through January 2020, we enrolled 418 patients with pathologically confirmed glioblastoma (based on the 2016 WHO classification). All selected patients had preoperative MRI and isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation, O-6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) promoter methylation, epidermal growth factor receptor amplification, and alpha-thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked (ATRX) loss status. Patients were randomly split into training and test sets (7:3 ratio). Enhancing tumor and peritumoral T2-hyperintensity were auto-segmented, and 660 radiomics features were extracted. We built binary relevance (BR) and ensemble classifier chain (ECC) models for multi-label classification and compared their performance. In the classifier chain, we calculated the mean absolute Shapley value of input features. RESULTS: The micro-averaged area under the curves (AUCs) for the test set were 0.804 and 0.842 in BR and ECC models, respectively. IDH mutation status was predicted with the highest AUCs of 0.964 (BR) and 0.967 (ECC). The ECC model showed higher AUCs than the BR model for ATRX (0.822 vs. 0.775) and MGMT promoter methylation (0.761 vs. 0.653) predictions. The mean absolute Shapley values suggested that predicted outcomes from the prior classifiers were important for better subsequent predictions along the classifier chains. CONCLUSION: We built a radiomics-based multiple gene prediction chained model that incorporates mutual information of each genetic alteration in glioblastoma and grade 4 astrocytoma, IDH-mutant and performs better than a simple bundle of binary classifiers using prior classifiers' prediction probability.

BACKGROUND: To develop a diagnostic tree analysis (DTA) model based on demographical information and conventional MRI for differential diagnosis of adult pilocytic astrocytomas (PAs) and high-grade gliomas (HGGs; World Health Organization grade III-IV). METHODS: A total of 357 adult patients with pathologically confirmed PA (n = 65) and HGGs (n = 292) who underwent conventional MRI were included. The patients were randomly divided into training (n = 250) and validation (n = 107) datasets to assess the diagnostic performance of the DTA model. The DTA model was created using a classification and regression tree algorithm on the basis of demographical and MRI findings. RESULTS: In the DTA model, tumor location (on cerebellum, brainstem, hypothalamus, optic nerve, or ventricle), cystic mass with mural nodule appearance, presence of infiltrative growth, and major axis (cutoff value, 2.9 cm) were significant predictors for differential diagnosis of adult PAs and HGGs. The AUC, accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were 0.94 (95% confidence interval 0.86-1.00), 96.2%, 89.5%, and 97.7%, respectively, in the test set. The accuracy of the DTA model was significantly higher than the no-information rate in the test (96.2 % vs 85.0%, P < 0.001) set. CONCLUSION: The DTA model based on MRI findings may be useful for differential diagnosis of adult PA and HGGs.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Bile acid (BA) dysregulation is related to not only metabolic diseases but also nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We investigated whether circulating BA levels are altered according to the histological severity of NAFLD independent of metabolic derangements. METHODS: Global metabolic profiling and targeted BA analysis using sera collected from biopsy-proven no-NAFLD (n = 67), nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) (n = 99), and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH, n = 75) subjects were performed sequentially. Circulating metabolome analysis integrated with the hepatic transcriptome was performed to elucidate the mechanistic basis of altered circulating BA profiles after stratification by obesity (body mass index ≤ 25 kg/m2 ). Circulating BA alterations were also validated in an independent validation cohort (29 no-NAFLD, 70 NAFL and 37 NASH). RESULTS: Global profiling analysis showed that BA was the metabolite significantly altered in NASH compared to NAFL. Targeted BA analysis demonstrated that glyco-/tauro-conjugated primary BAs were commonly increased in nonobese and obese NASH, while unconjugated primary BAs increased only in nonobese NASH. These characteristic primary BA level changes were maintained even after stratification according to diabetes status and were replicated in the independent validation cohort. Compared to nonobese NAFL patients, nonobese NASH patients exhibited upregulated hepatic expression of CYP8B1. CONCLUSIONS: BA metabolism is dysregulated as the histological severity of NAFLD worsens, independent of obesity and diabetes status; dysregulation is more prominent in nonobese NAFLD patients. Metabolome-driven omics approach provides new insight into our understanding of altered BA metabolism associated with individual phenotypes of NAFLD.

Vibrio cholerae, cause of the life-threatening diarrheal disease cholera, can be divided into different serogroups based on the structure of its lipopolysaccharide (LPS), which consists of lipid-A, corepolysaccharide and O-antigen polysaccharide (O-PS). The O1 serogroup, the predominant cause of cholera, includes two major serotypes, Inaba and Ogawa. These serotypes are differentiated by the presence of a single 2-O-methyl group in the upstream terminal perosamine of the Ogawa O-PS, which is absent in the Inaba O-PS. To ensure the consistent quality and efficacy of the current cholera vaccines, accurate measurement and characterization of each of these two serotypes is highly important. In this study, we efficiently screened a phage-displayed human synthetic Fab library by bio-panning against Ogawa LPS and finally selected three unique mAbs (D9, E11, and F7) that specifically react with Ogawa LPS. The mAbs bound to Vibrio cholerae vaccine in a dose-dependent fashion. Sequence and structure analyses of antibody paratopes suggest that IgG D9 might have the same fine specificity as that of the murine mAbs, which were shown to bind to the upstream terminal perosamine of Ogawa O-PS, whereas IgGs F7 and E11 showed some different characteristics in the paratopes. To our knowledge, this study is the first to demonstrate the generation of Ogawa-specific mAbs using phage display technology. The mAbs will be useful for identification and quantification of Ogawa LPS in multivalent V. cholerae vaccines.

RESUMEN

Since lung cancer is a major causative for cancer-related deaths, the investigations for discovering biomarkers to diagnose at an early stage and to apply therapeutic strategies have been continuously conducted. Recently, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) are being exponentially studied as promising biomarkers of lung cancer. Moreover, supportive evidence provides the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network between lncRNAs and miRNAs participating in lung tumorigenesis. This review introduced the oncogenic or tumor-suppressive roles of lncRNAs and miRNAs in lung cancer cells and summarized the involvement of the lncRNA/miRNA ceRNA networks in carcinogenesis and therapeutic resistance of lung cancer.
