OBJECTIVE: Limited comprehensive evidence exists on the global prevalence of polypharmacy. This knowledge gap contributes to increased healthcare system costs and related public health concerns. Thus, we aimed to synthesize the current evidence on polypharmacy prevalence and associated factors in the general and older populations using an umbrella review. METHODS: Our primary outcomes were global prevalence and related indicators of polypharmacy. We systematically searched Google Scholar, PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, and CINAHL for studies published between the inception of each database until April 30, 2023. RESULTS: Eleven meta-analyses incorporating 295 studies and 59,552,762 participants from 41 countries across six continents were identified. The global prevalence of polypharmacy in the general population is 37 %, with higher rates in older individuals (45 %), outpatients (48 %), and inpatients (52 %). North America showed a higher prevalence (52 %) than Asia (36 %) and Europe (36 %). Among frail elderly individuals, the prevalence of polypharmacy is 59 %, with the highest rates in Europe (68 %) and hospital settings (71 %). CONCLUSION: The global prevalence of polypharmacy and its associated factors in older adults present a complex, multifaceted, and conflicting picture. Understanding the prevalence of polypharmacy and its associated factors may help reduce the number of multidrug prescriptions.

The Immunization and Vaccine-related Implementation Research Advisory Committee (IVIR-AC) is the World Health Organization's key standing advisory body to conduct an independent review of research, particularly of transmission and economic modeling analyses that estimate the impact and value of vaccines. From 26th February-1st March 2024, at its first of two semi-annual meetings, IVIR-AC provided feedback and recommendations across four sessions; this report summarizes the proceedings and recommendations from that meeting. Session topics included modeling of the impact and cost-effectiveness of the R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine, meta-analysis of economic evaluations of vaccines, a global analysis estimating the impact of vaccination over the last 50 years, and modeling the impact of different RTS,S malaria vaccine dose schedules in seasonal settings.

Background: Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody (MOG) immunoglobulin G (IgG)-associated disease (MOGAD) has clinical and pathophysiological features that are similar to but distinct from those of aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4-IgG)-positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (AQP4-NMOSD). MOG-IgG and AQP4-IgG, mostly of the IgG1 subtype, can both activate the complement system. Therefore, we investigated whether the levels of serum complement components, regulators, and activation products differ between MOGAD and AQP4-NMOSD, and if complement analytes can be utilized to differentiate between these diseases. Methods: The sera of patients with MOGAD (from during an attack and remission; N=19 and N=9, respectively) and AQP4-NMOSD (N=35 and N=17), and healthy controls (N=38) were analyzed for C1q-binding circulating immune complex (CIC-C1q), C1 inhibitor (C1-INH), factor H (FH), C3, iC3b, and soluble terminal complement complex (sC5b-9). Results: In attack samples, the levels of C1-INH, FH, and iC3b were higher in the MOGAD group than in the NMOSD group (all, p<0.001), while the level of sC5b-9 was increased only in the NMOSD group. In MOGAD, there were no differences in the concentrations of complement analytes based on disease status. However, within AQP4-NMOSD, remission samples indicated a higher C1-INH level than attack samples (p=0.003). Notably, AQP4-NMOSD patients on medications during attack showed lower levels of iC3b (p<0.001) and higher levels of C3 (p=0.008), C1-INH (p=0.004), and sC5b-9 (p<0.001) compared to those not on medication. Among patients not on medication at the time of attack sampling, serum MOG-IgG cell-based assay (CBA) score had a positive correlation with iC3b and C1-INH levels (rho=0.764 and p=0.010, and rho=0.629 and p=0.049, respectively), and AQP4-IgG CBA score had a positive correlation with C1-INH level (rho=0.836, p=0.003). Conclusions: This study indicates a higher prominence of complement pathway activation and subsequent C3 degradation in MOGAD compared to AQP4-NMOSD. On the other hand, the production of terminal complement complexes (TCC) was found to be more substantial in AQP4-NMOSD than in MOGAD. These findings suggest a strong regulation of the complement system, implying its potential involvement in the pathogenesis of MOGAD through mechanisms that extend beyond TCC formation.

LAY ABSTRACT: Research has found that autistic children can navigate multilingual schools and communities without harming their language skills or school success. However, they may encounter specific challenges within the United States, where educational and healthcare systems are insufficiently equipped to meet their needs. This review examined 46 US-based studies on the topic and findings reveal persistent deficit-based ideas about multilingualism and autism (e.g., professionals recommending that autistic students only speak and learn in English) accompanied by patterns of unequal identification of autism among multilingual children. These findings highlight issues of disproportionality and inadequate access to educational and healthcare resources. However, recent studies indicate that incorporating a child's native language in education not only enhances learning and behavioral outcomes but also boosts cognitive functions like problem-solving and planning. Taken as a whole, current research suggests that intentionally addressing linguistic diversity will allow educational and medical systems to better serve autistic children.

Prior research has predominantly focused on the overall effects of the tobacco tax increase and the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent smoking behavior. However, there is a need to examine both the immediate and sustained associations of these two factors on subgroups of adolescents, employing an interrupted time-series model. We aimed to investigate the immediate and sustained association of tobacco tax increase and the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent smoking prevalence. This study utilized data from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey to analyze the prevalence of current smoking among all participants (CSP) and the prevalence of daily smoking among current smokers (DSP) of Korean adolescents (n = 1,159,995; mean, age 14.99; male 51.5%) over 18 years from 2005 to 2022. The study examined 18-year trends in CSP and DSP among Korean adolescents, emphasizing the influences of the 2015 tobacco tax increase and the COVID-19 pandemic, using ß coefficients and their differences (ßdiff) from an interrupted time-series ARIMA model. While CSP exhibited a decreasing trend, DSP exhibited an increasing trend. Tobacco tax increase was associated with both the short and long terms in smoking prevalence, however, the short-term association on prevalence (CSP, - 3.076 [95% CI, - 3.707 to - 2.445]; DSP, - 4.112 [95% CI, - 6.488 to - 1.735]) was stronger. The pandemic was associated with an immediate increase in DSP (9.345 [95% CI, 5.285-13.406]). These effects were strongest among adolescents from low economic status and those exposed to familial secondhand smoking. Supportive programs for adolescents in low-income families will help overcome the effects associated with the pandemic. As a tobacco tax increase was associated with a reduction in smoking prevalence, this could be one method to overcome the effects of the pandemic.

OBJECTIVE: To report the clinical outcomes in toy-breed dogs with atlantoaxial instability (AAI) stabilized with patient-specific 3-D-printed titanium plates or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), both with the assistance of 3-D-printed drill guides. ANIMALS: 15 client-owned dogs undergoing surgical treatment for AAI between January 1, 2020, and October 31, 2022. METHODS: The clinical characteristics, diagnostic images, and neurological outcomes of 15 dogs treated for AAI using 3-D-printing technology were reviewed. Postoperative CT images were examined to evaluate the screw placement accuracy in the atlas and axis. Clinical outcomes, including postoperative neurological improvement and screw loosening, were evaluated in dogs treated with a patient-specific titanium plate and those treated with PMMA. RESULTS: Patient-specific titanium plates (7 dogs) and PMMA (8 dogs) were used for AAI stabilization. The mean follow-up period was 15.2 months (range 7 to 22 months). A reduction of the axis without vertebral canal violation was confirmed on postoperative CT in 14 dogs. The mean deviation from the preoperative planning ranged from 0.30 to 1.27 mm at the insertion and exit points of 84 screws using this method. The neurological grade had improved in each dog postoperatively and at the final follow-up. Screw loosening was noted in 4 dogs in the titanium plates groups without neurological deterioration. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Patient-specific 3-D-printed drill guides and titanium plates or PMMA are effective for AAI stabilization in toy-breed dogs, providing accurate guidance.

PURPOSE: Evidence suggests that long-term air pollution exposures may induce depression; however, the influence of physical activity on this effect is unclear. We investigated modification of the associations between air pollution exposures and depression by the intensity of physical activity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 1454 Korean adults. Depression was defined as a Geriatric Depression Scale score ≥8. Concentrations of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5: diameter ≤10 µm and ≤2.5 µm, respectively) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) level at each participant's residential address were estimated. Based on metabolic equivalents, physical activity intensity was categorized as inactive, minimally active, or health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA). RESULTS: Each 1-part per billion (ppb) NO2 concentration increase was significantly associated with a 6% [95% confidence interval (CI), 4%-8%] increase in depression risk. In older adults (≥65 years), a 1-ppb NO2 increase was associated (95% CI) with a 4% (1%-7%), 9% (5%-13%), and 21% (9%-33%) increase in depression risk in the inactive, minimally active, and HEPA groups, respectively. Compared with the inactive group, the minimally active (p=0.039) and HEPA groups (p=0.004) had higher NO2 exposure-associated depression risk. Associations of PM10 and PM2.5 with depression did not significantly differ by the intensity of physical activity. CONCLUSION: We suggest that older adults who vigorously exercise outdoors may be susceptible to air pollution-related depression.

Background: Chronic stress is associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease. This study aimed to assess whether better coping with stress, as assessed using the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS), is associated with slower cognitive decline in community-dwelling older adults. Methods: This study used 2018/2019 data and 2-year follow-up data from the Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study. Of the 3,014 total participants, we included 1,826 participants (mean age, 77.6±3.7 years, 51.9% female) who completed BRS and Korean version of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Battery and the Korean version of the Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB). Results: Higher BRS score at baseline was associated with a lesser decline in the Mini-Mental State Examination score over 2 years after adjusting for age, sex, years of education, smoking status, hypertension, diabetes, and depression (B, 0.175; 95% confidence interval, 0.025-0.325) for 2 years, which represents global cognitive function. Other cognitive function measurements (Word List Memory, Word List Recall, Word List Recognition, Digit Span, Trail Making Test-A, and FAB) did not change significantly with the BRS score at baseline. Conclusion: These findings suggest that better stress-coping ability, meaning faster termination of the stress response, may limit the decline in cognitive function.

Developing new plant varieties plays a crucial role in competitiveness in the agricultural and food industries and enhancing food security. Daehong (DH) is a new variety of Crataegus pinnatifida Bunge (CP); however, its physiological functions and potential as a nutraceutical ingredient remain unknown. Here, the efficacy of DH on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was investigated using dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis mice, and its relative pharmacological effects were analyzed against CP. DH improved colitis-induced weight loss, colon shortening, and inflammatory responses and reduced intestinal permeability. The reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated necroptotic signal that triggers enterocyte cell death in DSS-induced colitis was effectively controlled by DH, attributed to epicatechin. DSS-induced gut dysbiosis was recovered into a healthy gut microbiome environment by DH, increasing beneficial bacteria, like Akkermansia muciniphila, and changing harmful bacteria, including Bacteroides vulgatus and Peptostreptococcaceae. DH shows potential as a dietary or pharmaceutical ingredient to promote gut health and to prevent and treat IBD.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is a fatal complication of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) with a poor prognosis. However, the association between individual exposure to air pollutants and lung cancer development in patients with IPF is unknown. This study aimed to assess the effect of individual exposure to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) on lung cancer development in patients with IPF. METHODS: We enrolled 1085 patients from the IPF cohort (mean age: 65.6 years, male: 80.6%). We estimated individual-level long-term exposures to NO2 at the patient's residential addresses using a national-scale exposure prediction model based on the data from air quality regulatory monitoring stations. To evaluate the association between NO2 levels and lung cancer development in IPF, we used an individual- and area-level covariates adjusted model as our primary model. RESULTS: The estimated average annual NO2 concentration was 23.1 parts per billion (ppb). During a follow-up of 4.3 years (median), 86 patients (7.9%) developed lung cancer. NO2 concentration was associated with lung cancer development in an unadjusted model (hazard ratio [HR], 1.219; p=0.042), while a marginal association was found in the primary model (HR 1.280; p=0.084). When NO2 concentration was divided by the median value (21.0 ppb), exposure to high NO2 levels (≥ 21.0 ppb) was associated with a 2.0-fold increase in the risk of lung cancer development (HR, 2.023; p=0.047) in the primary model. CONCLUSION: Individual exposure to high NO2 levels may increase the risk of lung cancer development in patients with IPF.

Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a rare congenital heart disease in dogs. Hemodynamically important interventricular defects must be closed to improve the prognosis. This case report describes successful interventional transcatheter closure of a muscular VSD in a young Maltese and poodle mixed-breed dog with a large muscular interventricular defect (~5 mm in diameter) with a high rate of left-to-right shunt flow. The VSD was closed with a customized Amplatzer-type VSD occluder via a percutaneous transvenous (jugular) approach. We concluded that interventional occlusion of a muscular VSD with an Amplatzer-type occluder is a viable treatment option for dogs. A regular follow-up study for this dog is ongoing and has not detected complications. Key clinical message: Interventional occlusion of a muscular VSD with an Amplatzer-type occluder is a viable treatment option for dogs.


Occlusion interventionnelle réussie d'une communication interventriculaire musculaire chez un chien. La communication interventriculaire (VSD) est une maladie cardiaque congénitale rare chez le chien. Les anomalies interventriculaires hémodynamiquement importantes doivent être fermées pour améliorer le pronostic. Ce rapport de cas décrit la fermeture interventionnelle réussie par cathéter d'un VSD musculaire chez un jeune chien de race mixte (maltais et caniche) présentant un défaut interventriculaire musculaire important (~5 mm de diamètre) avec un débit de shunt élevé de gauche à droite. Le VSD a été fermé avec un obturateur VSD personnalisé de type Amplatzer via une approche trans-veineuse percutanée (jugulaire). Nous avons conclu que l'occlusion interventionnelle d'un VSD musculaire avec un obturateur de type Amplatzer est une option de traitement viable pour les chiens. Une étude de suivi régulière de ce chien est en cours et aucune complication n'a été détectée.Message clinique clé :L'occlusion interventionnelle d'un VSD musculaire avec un obturateur de type Amplatzer est une option de traitement viable pour les chiens.(Traduit par Dr Serge Messier).

This study evaluates the antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in patients with neuroimmunological disorders (pwNID) who are receiving immunomodulating treatments, compared to healthy individuals. It included 25 pwNID with conditions such as optic neuritis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and polymyositis, as well as 56 healthy controls. All participants had completed their full SARS-CoV-2 vaccination schedule, and their blood samples were collected within six months of their last dose. The concentration of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies was measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The results showed that pwNID had significantly lower antibody titers (58.4 ± 49.2 RU/mL) compared to healthy individuals (81.7 ± 47.3 RU/mL). This disparity persisted even after adjusting for age and the interval between the final vaccination and sample collection. A notable correlation was found between the use of immunomodulating treatments and reduced antibody levels, whereas mRNA vaccines were linked to higher antibody concentrations. The conclusion of this study is that immunomodulating treatments may reduce the effectiveness of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in pwNID. This insight is crucial for healthcare providers in designing vaccination strategies and managing treatment plans for pwNID on immunomodulating therapies, highlighting the need for personalized approaches in this subgroup.

Evaluating vaccine-related research is critical to maximize the potential of vaccination programmes. The WHO Immunization and Vaccine-related Implementation Research Advisory Committee (IVIR-AC) provides an independent review of research that estimates the performance, impact and value of vaccines, with a particular focus on transmission and economic modelling. On 11-13 September 2023, IVIR-AC was convened for a bi-annual meeting where the committee reviewed research and presentations across eight different sessions. This report summarizes the background information, proceedings and recommendations from that meeting. Sessions ranged in topic from timing of measles supplementary immunization activities, analyses of conditions necessary to meet measles elimination in the South-East Asia region, translating modelled evidence into policy, a risk-benefit analysis of dengue vaccine, COVID-19 scenario modelling in the African region, therapeutic vaccination against human papilloma virus, the Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium, and the Immunization Agenda 2030 vaccine impact estimates.

INTRODUCTION: We validated the quality of evidence and potential benefits of information and communication technology interventions on diabetes-related health outcomes. METHODS: We systematically searched PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Google Scholar, and CINAHL and manually searched the reference lists of the retrieved review articles from each database's inception to October 2022. Randomized controlled trials were included to determine the benefits of information and communication technology interventions on diabetes outcomes. RESULTS: Ten meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials were included, with 37 unique outcomes encompassing 379 studies and >70,000 participants across 47 countries and six continents. Information and communication technology intervention was associated with reduced HbA1c levels in patients with type 1 (moderate certainty), type 2 (moderate certainty), and gestational diabetes (low certainty) and showed potential benefits for type 2 diabetes, demonstrating a reduction in systolic blood pressure (high certainty), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (low certainty), and body weight (low certainty), whereas those for gestational diabetes demonstrated a reduction in fasting (low certainty) and 2-h postprandial blood glucose levels (low certainty). CONCLUSION: This umbrella review and evidence map revealed varying evidence on the potential benefits of information and communication technology interventions for diabetes-related outcomes. Our results demonstrate these interventions to be novel treatment options for policymakers and physicians to establish personalized health strategies.

Cervical enamel projections (CEPs) represent a unique developmental and anatomical anomaly wherein the enamel structure extends apically beyond the cemento-enamel junction of the tooth. In this scoping review, the existing literature on CEPs was evaluated to delineate their characteristics, prevalence, predilection for specific teeth and surfaces, clinical significance, and management approaches. Searches were conducted on MEDLINE (PubMed), Cochrane Library, and Embase databases using the keywords "enamel projection(s)" or "ectopic enamel." In total, 24 studies meeting inclusion criteria were included in the review. The prevalence of CEPs varied widely (8.3%-85.1%), predominantly manifesting as grade I or grade III. Mandibular first and second molars exhibited a higher incidence of CEPs, with a notable predilection for buccal surfaces. The consensus in most studies was that CEPs are associated with localized periodontal diseases. Recommendations inclined toward the removal of ectopic enamel during periodontal surgery to enhance periodontal attachment formation. However, decision-making should involve careful consideration of the benefits and drawbacks based on individual circumstances.

OBJECTIVES: The effect of air pollution on the prognosis of rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) remains poorly understood. We aimed to evaluate the effect of long-term exposure to particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of ≤10 µm (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) on mortality in patients with RA-ILD. METHODS: We included 309 patients (mean age, 61.7 years; male, 44.3%) with RA-ILD. Individual-level long-term exposures to PM10 and NO2 at their residential addresses were estimated using a national-scale exposure prediction model. The effect of the two air pollutants on mortality was estimated using a Cox-proportional hazards model adjusted for individual-level and area-level characteristics. RESULTS: The median follow-up period was 4.8 years, and 40.8% of patients died or underwent lung transplantation. The annual average concentrations of PM10 and NO2 were 56.3 µg/m3 and 22.4 ppb, respectively. When air pollutant levels were stratified by quartiles, no association was observed between air pollutant concentration and mortality in patients with RA-ILD. However, when stratified by two groups (high exposure (top 25th percentile) vs low exposure (bottom 75th percentile)), we observed a significant association between high PM10 exposure and mortality (HR 1.68; 95% CI 1.11 to 2.52; p=0.013) but no association between NO2 exposure and mortality. In the subgroup analyses, the effect of high PM10 exposure on mortality was significant in patients aged <65 years (HR 1.98; 95% CI 1.02 to 3.85; p=0.045). CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicated that high PM10 exposure may be associated with mortality in patients with RA-ILD.

INTRODUCTION: Existing studies provide insights into the prevalence and environmental factors associated with allergic rhinitis (AR) and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) globally. However, limitations still persist in these studies, particularly regarding cohort sizes and the duration of follow-up periods, indicating a need for more comprehensive and long-term research in these fields. Our study aimed to investigate the prevalence, long-term trends, and underlying factors of these conditions in the general population of adult participants (≥19 years) in Korea. METHOD: We analyzed data from adult participants (≥19 years) from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) study to determine the prevalence of AR and CRS from 1998 to 2021. To analyze prevalence trends before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, we employed a weighted linear regression model and obtained ß-coefficients with 95% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS: Between 1998 and 2021, over a span of 24 years, the comprehensive KNHANES study included 146,264 adult participants (mean age: 47.80 years, standard deviation: 16.49 years; 66,177, 49.3% men). The prevalence of AR and CRS increased from 1998 to 2021, with AR prevalence rising from 5.84% (95% CI, 5.57-6.10) in 1998-2005 to 8.99% (8.09-9.91) in 2021 and CRS from 1.84% (1.70-1.97) in 1998-2005 to 3.70% (3.18-4.23) in 2021. However, the increasing trend has slowed down during the COVID-19 pandemic era. CONCLUSIONS: The significance of continuous monitoring and focused interventions for AR and CRS is underscored by this study. The observed deceleration in the rising prevalence of AR and CRS during the pandemic indicates the possibility of beneficial impacts from lifestyle modifications triggered by the pandemic. These findings call for additional research to explore potential protective effects in greater depth.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Scrub typhus is an endemic disease in the fall season that occurs in a limited number of places known as the Tsutsugamushi Triangle. Peripheral neuropathy is a common complication of scrub typhus. Herein, we encountered several patients with ascending paralysis after scrub typhus infection, who were diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). We aimed to investigate the clinical and laboratory characteristics of patients who developed GBS after scrub typhus. METHODS: Patients were retrospectively recruited from six nationwide tertiary centers in South Korea from January 2017 to December 2021. Patients who had been clinically diagnosed with GBS and confirmed to have scrub typhus via laboratory examination and/or the presence of an eschar before the onset of acute limb paralysis were included. The GBS-associated clinical and electrophysiological characteristics, outcomes, and scrub typhus-associated features were collected. RESULTS: Of the seven enrolled patients, six were female and one was male. The median time from scrub typhus infection to the onset of limb weakness was 6 (range: 2-14) days. All patients had eschar on their bodies. Four patients (57.1%) were admitted to the intensive care unit and received artificial ventilation for respiratory distress. At 6 months, the median GBS disability score was 2 (range, 1-4) points. INTERPRETATION: Patients with scrub typhus-associated GBS have a severe clinical presentation and require intensive treatment with additional immunotherapies. Therefore, GBS should be included in the differential diagnosis when peripheral neuropathies develop during scrub typhus treatment. Notably, scrub typhus is associated to GBS.

BACKGROUND: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic progressive fibrosing interstitial lung disease with a poor prognosis. While there is evidence suggesting that outdoor air pollution affects the clinical course of IPF, the impact of indoor air pollution on patients with IPF has not been extensively studied. Therefore, this prospective multicentre observational study aims to investigate the association between indoor air pollution and clinical outcomes in patients with IPF. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This study enrolled 140 patients with IPF from 12 medical institutes in the Seoul and Metropolitan areas of the Republic of Korea. Over the course of 1 year, participants visited the institutes every 3 months, during which their clinical data and blood samples were collected. Additionally, indoor exposure to particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) was measured using MicroPEM (RTI International, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA) in each participant's house for 5 days every 3 months. Lung function was assessed using both site spirometry at each institution and portable spirometry at each participant's house every 3 months. The study will analyse the impact of indoor PM2.5 on clinical outcomes, including mortality, acute exacerbation, changes in lung function and health-related quality of life, in the participants. This study represents the first attempt to evaluate the influence of indoor air pollution on the prognosis of patients with IPF. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This study has received approval from the institutional review board of all participating institutions, including Asan Medical Center, Seoul, Republic of Korea (2021-0072). TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: KCT0006217.
