RESUMEN

An epidemiological study was carried out on the population of 59 subjects aged 35-4 (30 women, 29 men) living in Lublin. An evaluation of dentition status and degree of provision for prosthetic needs was done. We observed a remarkable frequency of dental caries, a large percentage of subjects with missing or damaged teeth (76.27%), and inadequate advancement of prosthetic treatment in 62.71% of subjects. Greater care for prosthetic treatment was observed among women than among men. Gaps within the maxilla were more often protected than those within the mandible.

RESUMEN

In this work a description of prosthetic treatment of the edentulous patient with cleft palate was showed. Although positive results of surgical treatment diminish the number of these patients, more than once a dentist has to treat effectively patients in their fifties, sixties and seventies whose cleft palate was not treated with modern methods. Authors describe prosthetic solution which enables removing part of acryl from prosthesis and making air chambers. Diminishing of obturator prosthesis mass increases stabilization and retention and contributes to easier adaptation of prosthetic restoration.

RESUMEN

The ARCUSdigma is an electronic facebow enabling presentation and graphic analysis of mandibular movements on the computer screen. A kinematic hinge axis of the mandible can be determined using this device. The paper presents the diagnostic potential of the ARCUSdigma in relation to programming an articulator according to individual parameters of mandibular movements of the patient and its application in the diagnosis of temporo-mandibular joints.

RESUMEN

Galvano-forming is modern technique used to make esthetic permanent prosthetic restorations displacing lost-wax method. The replacement of wax by metal produces marginal tightness of 70 microm. The technology satisfies esthetic demands, ensures beneficial and long-tern effects. Galvanic products are characterized by high biocompatibility, excellent marginal tightness (tightness of ca 18 microm), pulp protection, chance to apply traditional neutral zinc-phosphate cement and high esthetic quality.

RESUMEN

A large foreign body inserted into oral cavity, e.g. complete denture, both lower and upper, might cause a temporary or constant dysarthia and dysgeusia. These might be reduced and even completely eliminated by proper dentures construction. Problems with normal articulation might result from construction faults, e.g. too thick denture base, incorrect denture base modelling, wrong teeth placement, lowering or excessive height occlusion. The hypogeusia has been repeatedly observed as the symptom in the course of the complete denture adaptation stage, as well as might keep further. The main role in the mechanism of occurrence of hypogeusia has the limitation of the lingual flexibility, especially of its tip, throughout the use of the complete denture. It provokes difficulties with the accurate course of its physiological activity as well as makes impossible the balancing with the tongue of the cryaesthesia, heath sensibility and tactile sense, which are blocked on the palate.

RESUMEN

A female patient, age 71, came to The Department of Prosthetic Dentistry University School of Medicine in Lublin with pain dysfunction syndrome after treatment by extensive prosthesis of upper and lower dental arches. After examination many abnormalities of prosthetic restorations were ascertained. After 21 months of repositioning occlusal splint treatment the symptoms of pain dysfunction were gone, which permitted final prosthetic restoration. This case proves that using repositioning occlusal splint should be the first choice procedure in the treatment of iatrogenic pain after prosthetic treatment.
