RESUMEN

The development of large-scale biotechnological production with the use continuous cell-line cultures as producers revealed the role of apoptosis in the culture as a factor producing essential influence on the effectiveness of the process, the level of the accumulation of the target product and its quality. The limiting influence of apoptosis as the programmed death of cells in the culture was determined by a number of factors: the chemical composition, pH and chemical properties of the medium; the levels of glucose, amino-acid and vitamin depletion; the uniformity of oxygenation; temperature conditions; the mode of agitation and the intensity of hydrodynamic forces; the content of mitogenetic factors and toxins in the medium; the presence and activity of the expression of apoptosis stimulators and inhibitors. The presence of correlation between the intensity of apoptosis, cultural properties and the characteristics of the mitotic cycle of the cell line was shown. The latter made it possible to regard the biological properties of the producer culture as one of the leading factors modifying the process of the programmed death of cells.

RESUMEN

The morbidity structure was analyzed in children vaccinated against epidemic parotitis in 1993-2002. Eight children (4 with serous meningitis and 4 with lesions of the salivary glands) underwent virologic and immunologic examinations. The molecular typing of the SH-gene fragment of the parotitis virus showed the process in 7 cases to be provoked by the vaccination strain. Presumedly, progressing vaccine-associated meningitis inhibits antibody formation. The total incidence of vaccine-associated meningitis was shown, according to Saint Petersburg data, to be not high, which testifies to a low reactogenicity of the Russian vaccine strain.

RESUMEN

A model is suggested to study the effects the myelopeptide 2 (MP2) immunomodulator on the results of live measles rash immunized by vaccine. Guinea pigs were found to respond to live measles vaccine L-16 the way man does, i.e. the antibodies' level in their sera was increasing until days 28-56 after a single intramuscular vaccine injection. An intramuscular injection of the MP2 immunomodular, made alongside with vaccination, was demonstrated to enhance the immune response to the measles vaccine and to induce its action. Finally, it was for the first time, that the possibility was proven to enhance the action of the live measles vaccine by an immunomodulator.
