RESUMEN

The article presents study results that demonstrate chronic fatigue syndrome in patients with vibration disease. Clinical manifestations of chronic fatigue syndrome are characterized by changes in the emotional-volitional and cognitive areas. Application of nootropic drug cortexin increases the efficiency of rehabilitation in patients with vibration disease with chronic fatigue syndrome.

RESUMEN

The article presents results of research aimed to diagnosis and treatment of tunnel upper limb neuropathies in mining industry workers subjected to vibration factor. The authors specified diagnostic criteria for early diagnosis of tunnel neuropathies affecting median, ulnar and radial nerves, with the severity evaluation for further adequate treatment.

RESUMEN

The study covered prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its risk factors among mining and machinery industry workers. Reliably higher incidence of metabolic syndrome was revealed in workers exposed to vibration, when compared with the reference group. The authors calculated relative risk of metabolic syndrome development after exposure to the factor studied.

RESUMEN

AIM: To reveal prognostically significant factors affecting efficacy of glivek therapy in untreated (duration of the disease < or = 6 months) and pretreated (duration of the disease > 6 months) patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in a chronic phase. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 338 patients (64 untreated and 274 pretreated) with a chronic-phase CML on glivek therapy entered the trial. RESULTS: Five-year survival on glivek was high (89, 98 and 88% in untreated and pretreated patients, respectively). Incidence of transformation in the acceleration phase and blast crisis was low both in untreated and pretreated patients (1.6 and 11%, respectively) and correlated with the rate of a complete cytogenetic response (CCR). Untreated patients had no factors affecting treatment efficacy negatively, CCR probability was 96%. Blastemia, thrombocytosis and splenomegaly reduced CCR probability significantly in pretreated patients. Slow reduction of the tumor mass, late achievement of a complete hematological response and a cytogenetic response decreased probability of CCR. CONCLUSION: Glivek is a drug of choice for patients with chronic-phase CML. High probability of CCR both in untreated and pretreated patients lowers the risk of the disease transformation into the phase of acceleration/blast crisis and raises overall survival in both groups.

RESUMEN

Correction of the lipid peroxidation rate using essential phospholipids was studied. The phospholipids were used in protection of heart tissue in experimental posthypoxic reoxygenation. Administration of essential phospholipids into the rats during myocardium reoxygenation led to an increase in activity of superoxide dismutase. The drugs containing essential phospholipids may be used in clinical practice for treatment of the impairments when elevated lipid peroxidation occurred.

RESUMEN

The characteristics of T- and B-lymphocyte content in chronic B-lymphoid leukemia (B-ChLL) patients with progressing and stable variants of the disease course, and the possibilities of their use for the individual prognosis of the course were studied. A total of 28 patients with stable and 35 patients with progressing variants of B-ChLL were investigated. T-(total and active) and B-lymphocytes were assayed in the spontaneous rosette-formation test. The individual prognosing of stable and progressing variants of B-ChLL course is possible basing on integral evaluation of total and active T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes with receptors to mouse red blood cells in two-dimensional parameter systems with counting the summary prognostic coefficient.

RESUMEN

A study was made of the effect of exogenous prostaglandins E1, E2 and E2 alpha on the proliferative response of lymphocytes in blast transformation with PHA according to the changes in permeability for 3H-thymidine, 3H-thymidine incorporation into DNA, 3H-uridine into RNA and 3H-leucine into protein in 7 patients with stable and in 17 patients with progressive B-chronic lymphoid leukemia (B-CLL). The progression of B-CLL was marked by the lack of the regulating effect of PG on lymphocytes. In stable lymphoid leukemia, an inhibitory action of PG on lymphocyte proliferation could be seen. The characteristics of the lymphocyte responses in patients with B-CLL were employed for individual prediction of the disease course.

RESUMEN

Inside-out vesicles were obtained from the cell membranes of murine neuroblastoma. The surface charge of vesicles was studied by the microelectrophoresis method. At neutral pH they had the electrophoretic mobility 2.7 times less than right-side-out vesicles. Neuraminidase treatment reduced the mobility of right-side-out vesicles, while that of inside-out was unchanged. Treatment with trypsin resulted in a decrease of the mobility of both types of vesicles. Treatment with phospholipase C decreased the mobility of inside-out vesicles, but did not influence that of right-side-out ones. Treatment with phospholipase D increased the mobility of both types of vesicles. In the low pH solution the mobility of inside-out vesicles decreased with respect to titration of acidic groups with intrinsic pK 3.5. The mobility of inside-out vesicles depended on Ca2+ concentration.

RESUMEN

Changes in central respiratory disorders under the effect of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) were studied in 29 patients in the acute stage of ischemic stroke. Spirography, tetrapolar rheography, and examination of the blood gas composition were carried out. Before HBO was begun, various disorders of the respiratory function were found (hyperventilation syndrome, periodical rhythms: Cheyne-Stokes respiration, alternating respiration, etc.). It was revealed that HBO session causes a normalizing effect on the respiratory function in central disorders of respiration: the Cheyne-Stokes rhythm was replaced at the end of the session by wave-like respiration which is biologically more adequate, the regimen of hyperventilation changed to normoventilation, etc. There was parallel improvement in the indices of central hemodynamics and the blood gas composition.
