RESUMEN

The signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM) receptor family (SLAMF) consists of nine glycoproteins that belong to the CD2 superfamily of immunoglobulin (Ig) domain-containing molecules. SLAMF receptors modulate the differentiation and activation of a wide range of immune cells. Individual SLAMF receptors are expressed on the surface of hematopoietic stem cells, hematopoietic progenitor cells, B cells, T cells, NK cells, NKT cells, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, neutrophils, and platelets. The expression of SLAMF receptors was studied during normal B cell maturation. Several SLAMF receptors were also detected in cancer cell lines of B-lymphoid origin and in pathological B cells from patients with B cell chronic lymphoproliferative disorders (B-CLPD), the most frequent hematological malignancies in adults. This review summarizes current knowledge on the expression of SLAMF receptors and their adaptor proteins SAP and EAT-2 in B-CLPD. Several SLAMF receptors could be regarded as potential diagnostic and differential diagnostic markers, prognostic factors, and targets for the development of novel drugs for patients with B-CLPD.

RESUMEN

Phellodendron amurense Rupr. is medicinal plant used for supplemental therapy of various diseases based on their positive biological activities. The aim of this study was evaluated the main metabolite, safety of application and anticancer potential. Berberine was determined by HPLC as main alkaloid. Harmful character was determined by irritation test in ovo. The potential cancerogenic effect was studied in vitro on a cellular level, in ovo by CAM assay and in vivo on whole organism Artemia franciscana. Extract from the bark of Phellodendron amurense showed antiproliferative and antiangiogenic effects. The results of our work showed promising anticancer effects based also on the inhibition of angiogenesis with minimum negative effects.

RESUMEN

A method of preparing tablets called liquisolid technique is currently emerging. In these formulations, an important role is played by porous carriers, which are the basic building blocks of liquisolid systems (LSSs). The most common are microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), magnesium aluminometasilicates, silica aerogels, mesoporous silicates, clays, etc. In this study, magnesium aluminometasilicate is used to prepare modified LSS formulations with plant extracts as model drugs dissolved in water (W) or ethanol (E). The modification involves drying tablets in a microwave (MW) and hot air dryer (HA) for a specified period. Powder blends and tablets were evaluated for physical properties, and their antioxidant activity (AA) was measured in a modified dissolution by ferric reducing antioxidant power assay (FRAP). PLS and ANOVA were used to compare tablets properties depending on the composition and technology. The experiment is based on a previous one, in which the plant extracts were processed into tablets using a similar method. Therefore, extending the study to include more plants and the robust statistical evaluation and comparison of the products was a procedure to justify the suitability of the presented method for a wide range of liquid plant extracts. As a result, we obtained tablets with excellent physical properties, including a short disintegration and dissolution, which is problematic in tableted extracts.

RESUMEN

Development of civilization diseases such as diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome or obesity, enforces the increasing effort to find new drugs, especially from natural sources. These include α-amylase inhibitors, which break down polysacharides into simple sugars in the body of a healthy person. As this cleavage affects the level of blood sugar, which is sought to be therapeutically influenced, there is a growing interest in these substances. This review maps the types of amylase inhibitors, including their natural resources.

RESUMEN

Warfarin is intensively discussed in terms of generic substitution due to particular cases of bleeding, which are attributable to fluctuations in API content or the substitution of crystalline (WSC) for amorphous (WSA) warfarin. The aim of this study was to assess to what extent the in vitro release was affected by the form of API depending on the composition and technology. Bioequivalent tablets containing 5 mg of WSA or WSC prepared by wet granulation or direct compression were used. Furthermore, tablets of the same composition with WSC or WSA prepared by direct compression were evaluated. Raman spectroscopy was used to confirm the presence of WSA or WSC. The dissolution was more influenced by the technology than by the form of API but even tablets with dissimilar profiles were bioequivalent. This is probably due to the precipitation of WSA and WSC in the stomach on a poorly soluble acidic form, which subsequently dissolves in the neutral environment of the small intestine. Recrystallization was demonstrated in the in vitro assay at a pH of 1.2 and 4.5 using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. In summary, the content uniformity appears to be the main factor affecting the safety of the treatment.

RESUMEN

The aim of this study was to find the optimal tablet composition with maximum content of dried fruits (Cornus mas L.). The effect of three different concentrations (12.5, 25 and 50 %) of two types of microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel® PH 101 and Avicel® PH 200) and three different compression pressures (20, 60 and 100 MPa) on the physical properties of tablet blends and tablets was studied. Tablets containing 50 % Avicel® PH 101 compressed under 100 MPa were found to have the best physical properties. This combination of composition and compression pressure resulted in stable tablets even after storage under accelerated stability conditions (6 months, 40 °C and 75 % RH).

RESUMEN

The aim of this study was to prepare tablets containing ground fruits of cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) with high antioxidant capacity. The experiment was planned and evaluated on Design of Experiment (DoE) principle using Multivariate Data Analysis (MVA) as modern tools used in Quality by Design (QbD) approach. Various tableting mixtures with three different particle sizes of the plant material (up to 800 µm, more than 800 µm and their mixture) and percentage of silicon dioxide (1, 3 and 5%) were prepared. Tablets with a diameter of 10 mm and mass of 400 mg were subsequently produced from these mixtures using two compression forces (C1=7 kN and C2=14 kN). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) with response surface methodology were used to find the influential process-formulation parameters and describe their optimal settings. Finally, it is possible to say that the increasing level of silicon dioxide and the decreasing particle size of ground cornelian cherry lead to prolongation of disintegration time and increase of radial hardness and abrasion loss. Maximal antioxidant activity was obtained using 5% amount of silicon dioxide, the largest particle size and the low compression force.
