RESUMEN

AIM: To study effects of monotherapy with moxonidine and metformine on metabolic parameters in hypertensive patients with carbohydrate dysbolism (CD) regarding polymorphic markers of genes PPARalpha, PPARgamma and IRS type 1 and 2. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 83 patients (31 male and 52 female patients aged 40-75 years) with untreated arterial hypertension stage I, obesity and CD (by glucose tolerance test) entered the trial. The patients were randomized into two groups. Patients of group I (n=42) received moxonidin in a dose 0.4 mg/day, of group 2 (n=41)--metformin in a dose 1000 mg/day. Measurement of arterial pressure, blood count and biochemistry, oral test for glucose tolerance with glucose and insulin measurement before meal and 1, 2 and 3 hours later was made initially and on the treatment week 16 Genotypes of polymorphic markers of genes PPARA, PPARG2, IRS1 and IRS2 were defined in all the patients. RESULTS: Changes in basic hemodynamic and metabolic indices in therapy with moxonidine depending on polymorphic markers of genes PPARA, PPARG2, IRS1 and IRS2 in patients with AH and CD showed that G allele PPARG2 is associated with greater weight loss, G allele PPARA--with weight loss, C allele PPARA--with maximal fall of diastolic blood pressure. CONCLUSION: Genetic factors participate in development of metabolic disturbances in hypertensive patients, obesity and CD and determine treatment efficacy in each individual patient.

RESUMEN

The analysis of evidence obtained at coronaroangiography, myocardial scintigraphy, echocardiography, severity of coronary and heart insufficiency in patients with isolated and combined forms of ischemic heart disease and arterial hypertension has identified three types of structural-functional relations between characteristics of coronary circulation and myocardial status: myocardio-perfusional (concentric myocardial hypertrophy with diastolic dysfunction leading to perfusional defects), coronaro-myocardial (affection of coronary arteries resulting in myocardial lesion with primarily systolic dysfunction), coronaro-perfusional (disturbed coronary circulation in involvement of coronary and myocardial factors).

RESUMEN

AIM: To characterize coronary arteries and myocardial perfusion in isolated ischemic heart disease (IHD) and IHD combined with blood hypertension (BH). MATERIALS AND METHODS: 20 patients with isolated IHD and 25 patients with combined IHD have undergone coronarography, scintigraphy of the myocardium with Tc-99m, echocardiography. RESULTS: In the combined IHD, overall involvement of the heart arteries appeared less than in isolated IHD (33.40 +/- 7.07% versus 41.40 +/- 8.9%). In the combined IHD and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) overall involvement of the heart arteries was less while occurrence of perfusion disorders higher than in the absence of LVH (35.98 +/- 4.73% vs 47.21 +/- 5.91%, and 33.7 vs 25.0%, respectively). Defects in the myocardial perfusion both in right and left coronary artery, isolated and combined IHD were of the same type location. CONCLUSION: Disturbed myocardial perfusion is an essential factor in the onset of coronary insufficiency.

RESUMEN

Resting and exercise 99mTc-technetryl myocardial scintigraphies were performed in 145 patients with various cardiovascular diseases. Normal lowered and elevated radioopaque accumulations were found to be present in both coronarogenic and noncoronarogenic diseases. Four degrees of agent hypofixation and four types of stress myocardial scintigraphies were interpreted from clinical points of view. Coronary failure is characterized by more severe hemoperfusion disorders (degrees 3-4) and the 3rd-4th variant of stress myocardial scintigraphy.

RESUMEN

Comparative analysis of the DNA of 11 phages isolated from type strains of Bacillus thuringiensis was performed by means of digestion with restriction nucleases. According to the results obtained, the studied phages were classified into five groups. Within each group, complete identity was revealed in both the restriction fragment number and the molecular mass of individual fragments. No homology was observed between genome structures of phages assigned to different groups.

RESUMEN

The results of multimodality treatment are analyzed in 56 patients with local breast cancer. Combined gamma-neutron therapy with the use of fast reactor neutrons enhances the efficiency of breast cancer treatment and does not increase the number of radiation reactions and complications. The three-year survival increased from 44 +/- 12 to 75 +/- 9%. The test reactors specifically adjusted may be useful for the radiation therapy of patients with various malignant neoplasms. Combined gamma-neutron therapy is more promising for this purpose than neutron therapy alone.

RESUMEN

A new temperate bacteriophage designated Px1 has been isolated from the culture of Bacillus thuringiensis var. galleriae 69/6 producing enthobacterin. The bacteriophage belongs to morphological group B1 in accordance with the classification by D. Reanney and H. Ackerman. The bacteriophage head has an isometric multifaceted form with 40 nm diameter. The length of its noncontractile transversely lined tail is 130 nm. High sensitivity to chloroform is peculiar of the phage. The lytical specter of the phage Px1 has been studied. The phage is shown to be capable of efficient transduction of plasmids between the bacteria of Bacillus cereus group.

RESUMEN

Efficiency of bacteriophage Tp4 plating on Bacillus thuringiensis var. canadensis H5 (Can) is decreased 10(7)-fold as compared with the efficiency of plating on Bacillus thuringiensis var. galleriae H5 (Gal). Bacteriophage Tp4 having propagated for one cycle in Can cells might be further grown in this strain without restriction. The sitespecific restriction endonuclease BtcI isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis var. canadensis recognises the same nucleotide sequence GATC in DNA as recognised by restriction endonuclease Sau3A.

RESUMEN

Biological as well as physicochemical properties of Bacillus thuringiensis bacteriophages "17" and "7/13" having C2-morphology and isolated from factory phagolysates were studied. The bacteriophages are identical in the lytic spectrum++, morphology, size, GC-content, have the same buoyant density. The physical map for restriction endonucleases EcoRI, HindIII, SalGI and MvaI has been constructed of the bacteriophages DNA. Heteroduplex analysis has revealed the nonhomologous region of the deletion-insertion type as a 0.8 Md loop. The bacteriophages "17" and "7/13" are concluded to be closely related but not identical.
