RESUMEN

Preterm birth (PTB), a multi-causal syndrome, is one of the global epidemics. Maternal nutrition, but also neonatal and placental telomere length (TL), are among the factors affecting PTB risk. However, the exact relationship between these factors and the PTB outcome, remains obscure. The aim of this review was to investigate the association between PTB, maternal nutrition, and placental-infant TL. Observational studies were sought with the keywords: maternal nutrition, placental TL, newborn, TL, and PTB. No studies were found that included all of the keywords simultaneously, and thus, the keywords were searched in dyads, to reach assumptive conclusions. The findings show that maternal nutrition affects PTB risk, through its influence on maternal TL. On the other hand, maternal TL independently affects PTB risk, and at the same time PTB is a major determinant of offspring TL regulation. The strength of the associations, and the extent of the influence from covariates, remains to be elucidated in future research. Furthermore, the question of whether maternal TL is simply a biomarker of maternal nutritional status and PTB risk, or a causative factor of PTB, to date, remains to be answered.

Achilles tendinopathy (AT) is a common condition both in athletes and the general population. The purpose of this study is to highlight the most effective form of exercise in managing pain-related symptoms and functional capacity as well as in a return to life activities, ensuring the quality of life of patients with AT, and creating a protocol to be used in rehabilitation. We conducted a systematic review of the published literature in Pubmed, Scopus, Science Direct, and PEDro for Randomised Controlled Trials concerning interventions that were based exclusively on exercise and delivered in patients 18-65 years old, athletes and non-athletes. An amount of 5235 research articles generated from our search. Five met our inclusion criteria and were included in the review. Research evidence supports the effectiveness of a progressive loading eccentric exercise program based on Alfredson's protocol, which could be modified in intensity and pace to fit the needs of each patient with AT. Future research may focus on the optimal dosage and load of exercise in eccentric training and confirm the effectiveness of other type of exercise, such as a combination of eccentric-concentric training or heavy slow resistance exercise. Pilates could be applied as an alternative, useful, and friendly tool in the rehabilitation of AT.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) even nowadays remains a complex neurodegenerative disease and its diagnosis relies mainly on cognitive tests which have many limitations. On the other hand, qualitative imaging will not provide an early diagnosis because the radiologist will perceive brain atrophy on a late disease stage. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to investigate the necessity of quantitative imaging in the assessment of AD by using machine learning (ML) methods. Nowadays, ML methods are used to address high dimensional data, integrate data from different sources, model the etiological and clinical heterogeneity, and discover new biomarkers in the assessment of AD. Methods: In this study radiomic features from both entorhinal cortex and hippocampus were extracted from 194 normal controls (NC), 284 mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and 130 AD subjects. Texture analysis evaluates statistical properties of the image intensities which might represent changes in MRI image pixel intensity due to the pathophysiology of a disease. Therefore, this quantitative method could detect smaller-scale changes of neurodegeneration. Then the radiomics signatures extracted by texture analysis and baseline neuropsychological scales, were used to build an XGBoost integrated model which has been trained and integrated. Results: The model was explained by using the Shapley values produced by the SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) method. XGBoost produced a f1-score of 0.949, 0.818, and 0.810 between NC vs. AD, MC vs. MCI, and MCI vs. AD, respectively. Discussion: These directions have the potential to help to the earlier diagnosis and to a better manage of the disease progression and therefore, develop novel treatment strategies. This study clearly showed the importance of explainable ML approach in the assessment of AD.

INTRODUCTION: We aim to understand the factors that drive citizens of different countries to adhere to recommended self-protective behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: Survey data was obtained through the COVID-19 Impact project. We selected countries that presented a sufficiently complete time series and a statistically relevant sample for running the analysis: Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. To identify country-specific differences in self-protective behaviors, we used previous evidence and change-point detection analysis to establish variations across participating countries whose effect was then assessed by means of interrupted series analysis. RESULTS: A high level of compliance with health and governmental authorities' recommendations were generally observed in all included countries. The level of stress decreased near the period when countries such as Cyprus, Greece or the United Kingdom relaxed their prevention behavior recommendations. However, this relaxation of behaviors did not occur in countries such as Germany, Ireland, or the United States. As observed in the change-point detection analysis, when the daily number of recorded COVID-19 cases decreased, people relaxed their protective behaviors (Cyprus, Greece, Ireland), although the opposite trend was observed in Switzerland. DISCUSSION: COVID-19 self-protective behaviors were heterogeneous across countries examined. Our findings show that there is probably no single winning strategy for exiting future health crises, as similar interventions, aimed to promote self-protective behaviors, may be received differently depending on the specific population groups and on the particular geographical context in which they are implemented.

BACKGROUND: Identifying common factors that affect public adherence to COVID-19 containment measures can directly inform the development of official public health communication strategies. The present international longitudinal study aimed to examine whether prosociality, together with other theoretically derived motivating factors (self-efficacy, perceived susceptibility and severity of COVID-19, perceived social support) predict the change in adherence to COVID-19 containment strategies. METHOD: In wave 1 of data collection, adults from eight geographical regions completed online surveys beginning in April 2020, and wave 2 began in June and ended in September 2020. Hypothesized predictors included prosociality, self-efficacy in following COVID-19 containment measures, perceived susceptibility to COVID-19, perceived severity of COVID-19 and perceived social support. Baseline covariates included age, sex, history of COVID-19 infection and geographical regions. Participants who reported adhering to specific containment measures, including physical distancing, avoidance of non-essential travel and hand hygiene, were classified as adherence. The dependent variable was the category of adherence, which was constructed based on changes in adherence across the survey period and included four categories: non-adherence, less adherence, greater adherence and sustained adherence (which was designated as the reference category). RESULTS: In total, 2189 adult participants (82% female, 57.2% aged 31-59 years) from East Asia (217 [9.7%]), West Asia (246 [11.2%]), North and South America (131 [6.0%]), Northern Europe (600 [27.4%]), Western Europe (322 [14.7%]), Southern Europe (433 [19.8%]), Eastern Europe (148 [6.8%]) and other regions (96 [4.4%]) were analyzed. Adjusted multinomial logistic regression analyses showed that prosociality, self-efficacy, perceived susceptibility and severity of COVID-19 were significant factors affecting adherence. Participants with greater self-efficacy at wave 1 were less likely to become non-adherence at wave 2 by 26% (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 0.74; 95% CI, 0.71 to 0.77; P < .001), while those with greater prosociality at wave 1 were less likely to become less adherence at wave 2 by 23% (aOR, 0.77; 95% CI, 0.75 to 0.79; P = .04). CONCLUSIONS: This study provides evidence that in addition to emphasizing the potential severity of COVID-19 and the potential susceptibility to contact with the virus, fostering self-efficacy in following containment strategies and prosociality appears to be a viable public health education or communication strategy to combat COVID-19.

BACKGROUND: The Shoulder Rating Questionnaire (SRQ) was created in the English language to assess shoulder disorders in six areas: global function, pain, daily activities, recreational and athletic activities, and work. PURPOSE: The study aimed to translate and culturally adapt Shoulder Rating Questionnaire (SRQ) into Greek. METHODS: The SRQ English version was translated and adapted into the Greek language using forward translation, expert panel synthesis, and backward translation procedures. A pilot testing has been made in the target population, and the final version was created. A cross-sectional study was conducted in clinical settings with the SRQ and the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index. A total of 168 Greek adult patients with rotator cuff-related shoulder pain were recruited from physical therapy clinics. Τhe reliability of the SRQ Greek version was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients. Internal consistency was assessed using the Cronbach alpha coefficient. Concurrent validity was measured by correlating the Shoulder Rating Questionnaire with the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index using Pearson's correlation coefficient. RESULTS: The results showed that the SRQ Greek version has excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.99), test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.976), and concurrent validity (r > 0.9). No ground or ceiling effects were found. The standard error of measurement and the minimum detectable change of the total score were 5.55 and 15.38. CONCLUSIONS: The Greek Language Version of the SRQ is a reliable and valid instrument that can be used to evaluate adult patients with shoulder rotator cuff-related disorders in the acute or chronic phases and in clinical trials.

Congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is the most common congenital viral infection and can be a major cause of neurodevelopmental disabilities, including various ocular disorders in infants and young children. This review summarizes the evidence on the association between congenital CMV infection and the type and frequency of ocular disorders. A systematic search was conducted across PubMed and Cochrane Library from inception through December 2021 to identify studies examining the association between congenital CMV infection and the occurrence of ocular disorders in children born with this infection. Seventeen articles were identified. A total of 306 ocular disorders were identified in 977 children, with 45 of them (4.6%) being related to cases of chorioretinitis. A total of 259 of the 306 (84.6%) ocular disorders occurred in symptomatic children. Four studies did not report the number of children with ophthalmological disorders. The remaining 13 studies reporting this parameter included 666 children, of whom 85 had ophthalmological disorders (12.7%). Vision was tested in 556 children and visual impairement was detected in 91 of them (16.3%). Given the high prevalence of congenital CMV infection and the frequent occurrence of ocular disorders, the question that arises is whether there should be worldwide screening for congenital CMV infection so that both symptomatic and asymptomatic children can be detected in time to reduce the burden of the disease and its complications. BACKGROUND: The survival of microorganisms on textiles and specifically on healthcare professionals' (HCP) attire has been demonstrated in several studies. The ability of microorganisms to adhere and remain on textiles for up to hours or days raises questions as to their possible role in transmission from textile to skin via HCP to patients. AIM: To evaluate the presence, survival and transmission of different multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDRB) from HCP attire onto skin. METHODS: Three MDRB [methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA); vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE); carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae, CRKP)] were inoculated on textiles from scrubs (60% cotton-40% polyester) and white coat (100% cotton) at concentrations of 108 colony-forming units (CFU), 105 CFU, and 103 CFU per mL. The inoculation of swatches was divided in time intervals of 1 min, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, 3 h, 4 h, 5 h, and 6 h. At the end of each period, textiles were imprinted onto pig skins and each skin square was inverted onto three different selective chromogenic media. Growth from the pig skin squares was recorded for the 3 MDRB at the three above concentrations, for the whole length of the 6-h experiment. RESULTS: MRSA was recovered from pig skins at all concentrations for the whole duration of the 6-h study. VRE was recovered from the concentration of 108 CFU/mL for 6 h and from 105 CFU/mL for up to 3 h, while showing no growth at 103 CFU/mL. CRKP was recovered from 108 CFU/mL for 6 h, up to 30 min from 105 CFU/mL and for 1 min from the concentration of 103 CFU/mL. CONCLUSION: Evidence from the current study shows that MRSA can persist on textiles and transmit to skin for 6 h even at low concentrations. The fact that all MDRB can be sustained and transferred to skin even at lower concentrations, supports that textiles are implicated as vectors of bacterial spread.

Background: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of co-administration of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) with gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) trigger (dual trigger) in high responders for fresh autologous cycles in order to investigate the pregnancy outcomes and rates of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in comparison to GnRH-a trigger alone. Methods: A systematic search was performed in PubMed and Ovid MEDLINE from inception through February 2020. The included materials were case-control, cohort and, cross-sectional studies as well as clinical trials in which the outcomes of dual trigger with GnRH-a were compared for final oocyte maturation in high responders undergoing GnRH-ant cycles. Results: Five retrospective studies were included for this review. Three of the studies showed that the use of dual trigger versus GnRH-a trigger resulted in no statistically significant difference in rates of OHSS while achieving a statistically significant difference in favor of the dual trigger group in ongoing pregnancy rates, early pregnancy loss, and fertilization rates. Conclusion: Currently, there is insufficient evidence to support improved clinical pregnancy rate, fertilization rate, live birth rate, and early pregnancy loss rate by the use of dual trigger versus GnRH-a trigger. Larger double-blind clinical studies are required to properly evaluate the efficacy of this protocol for use in high responders.

BACKGROUND: Hip and knee strengthening exercises are implemented in rehabilitation of patellofemoral pain patients, but typically use high loads (70% of 1 repetition maximum). This may lead to increased patellofemoral joint stress. Low load training (20-30% of 1 repetition maximum) with blood flow restriction could allow for exercise strength benefits to proximal and distal muscles with reduced joint stress and by promoting hypoalgesia. AIM: The aim of this study was to compare hip and knee focused exercises with and without blood flow restriction in adults with patellofemoral pain for short term effectiveness. DESIGN: A randomized observed-blind controlled trial. SETTING: Musculoskeletal laboratories of the European University Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus. POPULATION: 60 volunteer patients, 18-40 years of age with patellofemoral pain. METHODS: Participants were randomly assigned to (1 reference group) hip and knee strengthening at (70% of 1 repetition maximum) or (2 experimental group) Strengthening with blood flow restriction at (30% of 1 repetition maximum at 70% of limb occlution pressure). Treatments took place 3 times per week for 4weeks and outcomes were assessed at baseline, end of treatment and at 2-month follow-up. The primary outcome was the Kujala Anterior Knee Pain Scale and secondary outcomes were worst and usual pain, pain with Single leg Squats, the maximum pain free flexion angle, the Tampa Scale of kinesiophobia, the Pain Catastrophizing Scale and isometric strength of knee extensors, hip extensors and hip abductors. RESULTS: No difference were found for the main outcome of this study between groups. There was a significant effect of time for all outcome measures in both groups. Between group differences showed a significant difference for isometric strength of Knee extensor values at 2 month follow-up F(1,58)=5.56, P=0.02, partial η2=0.09, 459.4 (412.13, 506.64) vs. 380.68 (333.42, 427.93) and in worst pain post-treatment F(1,58)=5.27, P=0.02, partial η2=0.08, 0.76 (0.48, 1.04) vs. reference group 1.30 (0.91, 1.68) with significantly better scores in the blood flow restriction group. CONCLUSIONS: Blood flow restriction exercises of the hip and knee musculature used in this study were as effective as usual exercises of Hip and knee musculature in reducing symptoms in the short term. They also indicated greater increases in strength and reduction of worst pain post-treatment. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: Further research is needed to investigate the dose response relationship with longer follow-ups.

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted medical education, shifting it towards emergency remote delivery. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the impact of the pandemic on preclinical medical education and identify predictors of the virtual learning experience and perceived stress. An anonymous survey was delivered electronically to the students of the authors' medical school that attended either histology or pathology. This survey contained two scales, the virtual learning experience (VLE) and the perceived stress scale-10 (PSS-10). A total of 173/255 (68%) responded, showing a positive perception towards the remote delivery of both courses. An exploratory factor analysis was performed on the VLE scale items and four new dimensions were formed: "course quality and learning outcomes", "student motivation", virtual against F2F learning", and "virtual laboratory sessions". The following significant predictors of enhanced VLE, in at least one dimension, were identified: female gender, pathology course, final examination grade >80%, lower perceived stress levels, studying in home country, and holding of another degree before medical school. In addition, the following predictors were significantly associated with higher levels of student perceived stress: female gender, pathology course, studying away from home, and suboptimal internet connection. Notably, the quality of internet connection was significantly associated with the students' final examination performance. Concerning the best mode for future delivery of both courses, most students proposed a blended, rather than an entirely on-campus or online approach. In conclusion, despite its problems, a high-quality remote preclinical medical education was possible in the authors' school and offered tremendous opportunities for future improvement.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of death and morbidity worldwide. To date, the relationship between regional deprivation and CRC incidence or mortality has not been studied in the population of Cyprus. The objective of this study was to analyse the geographical variation of CRC incidence and mortality and its possible association with socioeconomic inequalities in Cyprus for the time period of 2000-2015. This is a small-area ecological study in Cyprus, with census tracts as units of spatial analysis. The incidence date, sex, age, postcode, primary site, death date in case of death, or last contact date of all alive CRC cases from 2000-2015 were obtained from the Cyprus Ministry of Health's Health Monitoring Unit. Indirect standardisation was used to calculate the sex and age Standardise Incidence Ratios (SIRs) and Standardised Mortality Ratios (SMRs) of CRC while the smoothed values of SIRs, SMRs, and Mortality to Incidence ratio (M/I ratio) were estimated using the univariate Bayesian Poisson log-linear spatial model. To evaluate the association of CRC incidence and mortality rate with socioeconomic deprivation, we included the national socioeconomic deprivation index as a covariate variable entering in the model either as a continuous variable or as a categorical variable representing quartiles of areas with increasing levels of socioeconomic deprivation. The results showed that there are geographical areas having 15% higher SIR and SMR, with most of those areas located on the east coast of the island. We found higher M/I ratio values in the rural, remote, and less dense areas of the island, while lower rates were observed in the metropolitan areas. We also discovered an inverted U-shape pattern in CRC incidence and mortality with higher rates in the areas classified in the second quartile (Q2-areas) of the socioeconomic deprivation index and lower rates in rural, remote, and less dense areas (Q4-areas). These findings provide useful information at local and national levels and inform decisions about resource allocation to geographically targeted prevention and control plans to increase CRC screening and management.

A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted during the first COVID-19 wave, to examine the impact of COVID-19 on mental health using an anonymous online survey, enrolling 9565 individuals in 78 countries. The current sub-study examined the impact of the pandemic and the associated lockdown measures on the mental health, and protective behaviors of cancer patients in comparison to non-cancer participants. Furthermore, 264 participants from 30 different countries reported being cancer patients. The median age was 51.5 years, 79.9% were female, and 28% had breast cancer. Cancer participants reported higher self-efficacy to follow recommended national guidelines regarding COVID-19 protective behaviors compared to non-cancer participants (p < 0.01). They were less stressed (p < 0.01), more psychologically flexible (p < 0.01), and had higher levels of positive affect compared to non-cancer participants. Amongst cancer participants, the majority (80.3%) reported COVID-19, not their cancer, as their priority during the first wave of the pandemic and females reported higher levels of stress compared to males. In conclusion, cancer participants appeared to have handled the unpredictable nature of the first wave of the pandemic efficiently, with a positive attitude towards an unknown and otherwise frightening situation. Larger, cancer population specific and longitudinal studies are warranted to ensure adequate medical and psychological care for cancer patients.

BACKGROUND: Identification of the factors that could potentially lead to congenital hearing loss is of paramount importance, as early detection of congenital hearing loss and intervention could prevent developmental delays in speech, language development as well as childhood cognitive impairment. Hitherto, intrauterine exposure to Zika virus has emerged as a cause of various fetal malformations, including cases of congenital hearing loss. The aim of this systematic review is to investigate the association between intrauterine exposure to Zika virus and hearing loss in children. METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted to the databases PubMed, Cochrane library, Scopus, ClinicalTrials.gov, SciELO and Lilacs in order to identify studies that examine the association between prenatally Zika exposure and hearing loss within the first few years of life. Studies were eligible for inclusion, if solely objective methods for hearing evaluation of patients such as otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) and/or auditory brainstem response (ABR) were used, in children who intrauterine exposed to the Zika virus. RESULTS: Thirteen studies were included, which included 1275 children who are prenatally exposed to Zika virus. In 852 of the cases an objective hearing evaluation was performed using either OAEs or ABR. 709 children were tested with ABR and 79 had a failed outcome. 143 children were tested with OAEs whilst of these, 30 had a failed outcome. Altered OAEs ranged from 8.7% to 30.2%, while altered ABR ranged from 0% to 19.9%. The initial sample includes 428 children with microcephaly, while 5 of the studies comprise microcephaly to the inclusion criteria. CONCLUSION: It seems to be a possible association between prenatal Zika virus exposure and hearing loss in children during the first years of their life. It is of great importance that in future studies possible confounding factors, like microcephaly, will be appropriately controlled. Additionally, the follow-up period of monitoring hearing loss in children should be prolonged in order to identify potential late onset hearing problems caused by intrauterine exposure to Zika virus.

Objective: Illness perceptions (IP) are important predictors of emotional and behavioral responses in many diseases. The current study aims to investigate the COVID-19-related IP throughout Europe. The specific goals are to understand the temporal development, identify predictors (within demographics and contact with COVID-19) and examine the impacts of IP on perceived stress and preventive behaviors. Methods: This was a time-series-cross-section study of 7,032 participants from 16 European countries using multilevel modeling from April to June 2020. IP were measured with the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire. Temporal patterns were observed considering the date of participation and the date recoded to account the epidemiological evolution of each country. The outcomes considered were perceived stress and COVID-19 preventive behaviors. Results: There were significant trends, over time, for several IP, suggesting a small decrease in negativity in the perception of COVID-19 in the community. Age, gender, and education level related to some, but not all, IP. Considering the self-regulation model, perceptions consistently predicted general stress and were less consistently related to preventive behaviors. Country showed no effect in the predictive model, suggesting that national differences may have little relevance for IP, in this context. Conclusion: The present study provides a comprehensive picture of COVID-19 IP in Europe in an early stage of the pandemic. The results shed light on the process of IP formation with implications for health-related outcomes and their evolution.

Background: Structural properties of sociometric networks have been associated with behaviors related to HIV transmission. Very few studies, however, have explored the correlation between sociometric network factors and drug injection-related norms. Methods: This exploratory work: (i) describes basic structural qualities of a sociometric risk network of participants in the Transmission Reduction Intervention Project (TRIP) in Athens, Greece, in the context of a large HIV outbreak among people who inject drugs (PWID); (ii) measures HIV prevalence within specific structures within the sociometric risk network of PWID in TRIP; and (iii) explores the association of structural properties of the sociometric risk network in TRIP with drug injection-related norms. Results: The sociometric risk network in TRIP consisted of a large component (n = 241, 67.8%), a few small components (n = 36, 10.1%) with 2-10 individuals each, and some isolates (n = 79, 22.2%). HIV prevalence was significantly higher in the large component (55.6%), the 2-core (59.1%) and 3-core (66.3%) of the large component, and the 3-cliques of the cores. Drug injection-related norms were significantly associated with structural characteristics of the sociometric risk network. A safe behavioral pattern (use of unclean cooker/filter/rinse water was never encouraged) was significantly (p = 0.03) less normative among people who TRIP participants of the 2-core injected with (40.5%) than among network contacts of TRIP participants outside the 2-core (55.6%). On the contrary, at drug-using venues, 2-core members reported that safer behaviors were normative compared to what was reported by those without 2-core membership. Conclusions: Sociometric network data can give useful insights into HIV transmission dynamics and inform prevention strategies.Supplemental data for this article is available online at https://doi.org/10.1080/10826084.2021.1914103 .

BACKGROUND: Fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology, the gold standard in assessing thyroid nodules, is limited by its inability to determine the true risk of malignancy in Thy 3 nodules. Most patients with Thy3 cytology undergo surgery to establish a histologic diagnosis. The aims of this study were to evaluate the prevalence of malignancy in Thy3 nodules, to examine the ultrasound (US) characteristics that are associated with a high cancer risk and to assess the role of real-time strain elastography. METHODS: Retrospective cohort study of 99 nodules with Thy3 cytology in 99 patients who underwent thyroidectomy over a three-year period. Grayscale US, Doppler and real-time strain elastography data were evaluated. RESULTS: Eighty-one nodules (81.82%) were benign, 18 (18.18%) were malignant, and almost all were papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Univariable analysis revealed irregular margins (p = 0.02), ill-defined borders (p ≤ 0.001), a taller than wide shape (p ≤ 0.001) and the elasticity score (p = 0.02) as significant predictors of malignancy. Multivariable analysis showed that ill-defined borders and the elasticity score were significant and independent factors associated with malignancy. All soft nodules (elasticity scores 1-2) were benign (sensitivity 100%, specificity 33%, NPV 100%, and PPV 23%). There was a higher rate of malignancy in Thy3a nodules than in Thy3f nodules (42.86% versus 11.54%) (p ≤ 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Irregular margins, ill-defined borders, a taller than wide shape and low elasticity were associated with malignancy. Elastography should be performed when evaluating Thy3 nodules.
