RESUMEN

Mammals typically heal with fibrotic scars, and treatments to regenerate human skin and hair without a scar remain elusive. We discovered that mice lacking C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2 knockout [KO]) displayed robust and complete tissue regeneration across three different injury models: skin, hair follicle, and cartilage. Remarkably, wild-type mice receiving plasma from CXCR2 KO mice through parabiosis or injections healed wounds scarlessly. A comparison of circulating proteins using multiplex ELISA revealed a 24-fold higher plasma level of granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) in CXCR2 KO blood. Local injections of G-CSF into wild-type (WT) mouse wound beds reduced scar formation and increased scarless tissue regeneration. G-CSF directly polarized macrophages into an anti-inflammatory phenotype, and both CXCR2 KO and G-CSF-treated mice recruited more anti-inflammatory macrophages into injured areas. Modulating macrophage activation states at early time points after injury promotes scarless tissue regeneration and may offer a therapeutic approach to improve healing of human skin wounds.

PE/PPE proteins secreted by the ESX-5 type VII secretion system constitute a major protein repertoire in pathogenic mycobacteria and are essential for bacterial survival, pathogenicity, and host-pathogen interaction; however, little is known about their expression and secretion. The scarcity of arginine and lysine residues in PE/PPE protein sequences and the high homology of their N-terminal domains limit protein identification using classical trypsin-based proteomic methods. This study used endoproteinase AspN and trypsin to characterize the proteome of Mycobacterium marinum. Twenty-seven PE/PPE proteins were uniquely identified in AspN digests, especially PE_PGRS proteins. These treatments allowed the identification of approximately 50% of the PE/PPE pool encoded in the genome. Moreover, EspG5 pulldown assays retrieved 44 ESX-5-associated PPE proteins, covering 85% of the PPE pool in the identified proteome. The identification of PE/PE_PGRS proteins in the EspG5 interactome suggested the presence of PE-PPE pairs. The correlation analysis between protein abundance and phylogenetic relationships found potential PE/PPE pairs, indicating the presence of multiple PE/PE_PGRS partners in one PPE. We validated that EspG5 interacted with PPE31 and PPE32 and mapped critical residues for complex formation. The modified proteomic platform increases the coverage of PE/PPE proteins and elucidates the expression and localization of these proteins.

OBJECTIVE: To derive and validate a prediction model for minimal clinically important differences (MCIDs) in upper extremity (UE) motor function after intention-driven robotic hand training using residual voluntary electromyography (EMG) signals from affected UE. DESIGN: A prospective longitudinal multicenter cohort study. We collected preintervention candidate predictors: demographics, clinical characteristics, Fugl-Meyer assessment of UE (FMAUE), Action Research Arm Test scores, and motor intention of flexor digitorum and extensor digitorum (ED) measured by EMG during maximal voluntary contraction (MVC). For EMG measures, recognizing challenges for stroke survivors to move paralyzed hand, peak signals were extracted from 8 time windows during MVC-EMG (0.1-5s) to identify subjects' motor intention. Classification and regression tree algorithm was employed to predict survivors with MCID of FMAUE. Relationship between predictors and motor improvements was further investigated. SETTING: Nine rehabilitation centers. PARTICIPANTS: Chronic stroke survivors (N=131), including 87 for derivation sample, and 44 for validation sample. INTERVENTIONS: All participants underwent 20-session robotic hand training (40min/session, 3-5sessions/wk). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Prediction efficacies of models were assessed by area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The best effective model was final model and validated using AUC and overall accuracy. RESULTS: The best model comprised FMAUE (cutoff score, 46) and peak activity of ED from 1-second MVC-EMG (MVC-EMG 4.604 times higher than resting EMG), which demonstrated significantly higher prediction accuracy (AUC, 0.807) than other time windows or solely using clinical scores (AUC, 0.595). In external validation, this model displayed robust prediction (AUC, 0.916). Significant quadratic relationship was observed between ED-EMG and FMAUE increases. CONCLUSIONS: This study presents a prediction model for intention-driven robotic hand training in chronic stroke survivors. It highlights significance of capturing motor intention through 1-second EMG window as a predictor for MCID improvement in UE motor function after 20-session robotic training. Survivors in 2 conditions showed high percentage of clinical motor improvement: moderate-to-high motor intention and low-to-moderate function; as well as high intention and high function.

Sarcoidosis is a multiorgan granulomatous disease that lacks diagnostic biomarkers and targeted treatments. Using blood and skin from patients with sarcoid and non-sarcoid skin granulomas, we discovered that skin granulomas from different diseases exhibit unique immune cell recruitment and molecular signatures. Sarcoid skin granulomas were specifically enriched for type 1 innate lymphoid cells (ILC1s) and B cells and exhibited molecular programs associated with formation of mature tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs), including increased CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling. Lung sarcoidosis granulomas also displayed similar immune cell recruitment. Thus, granuloma formation was not a generic molecular response. In addition to tissue-specific effects, patients with sarcoidosis exhibited an 8-fold increase in circulating ILC1s, which correlated with treatment status. Multiple immune cell types induced CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling in sarcoidosis, including Th1 T cells, macrophages, and ILCs. Mechanistically, CXCR4 inhibition reduced sarcoidosis-activated immune cell migration, and targeting CXCR4 or total ILCs attenuated granuloma formation in a noninfectious mouse model. Taken together, our results show that ILC1s are a tissue and circulating biomarker that distinguishes sarcoidosis from other skin granulomatous diseases. Repurposing existing CXCR4 inhibitors may offer a new targeted treatment for this devastating disease.

Reversible adhesives for wound care improve patient experiences by permitting reuse and minimizing further tissue injury. Existing reversible bandages are vulnerable to water and can undergo unwanted deformation during removal and readdressing procedures. Here, a biocompatible, multilayered, reversible wound dressing film that conforms to skin and is waterproof is designed. The inner layer is capable of instant adhesion to various substrates upon activation of the dynamic boronic ester bonds by water; intermediate hydrogel layer and outer silicone backing layer can enhance the dressing's elasticity and load distribution for adhesion, and the silicone outer layer protects the dressing from exposure to water. The adhesive layer is found to be biocompatible with mouse skin. Skin injuries on the mouse skin heal more rapidly with the film compared to no dressing controls. Evaluations of the film on skin of freshly euthanized minipigs corroborate the findings in the mouse model. The film remains attached to skins without delamination despite subjecting to various degrees of deformation. Exposure to water softens the film to allow removal from the skin without pulling any hair off. The multilayered design considers soft mechanics in each layer and will offer new insights to improve wound dressing performance and patient comfort.

Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic, debilitating, inflammatory disease of the skin and mucous membranes that affects 1% to 2% of Americans. Its molecular pathogenesis remains poorly understood, and there are no FDA-approved treatments. We performed single cell RNA sequencing on paired blood and skin samples (lesional and non-lesional tissue) from 7 LP patients. We discovered that LP keratinocytes and fibroblasts specifically secrete a combination of CXCL9, CXCL10, and CCL19 cytokines. Using an in vitro migration assay with primary human T cells, we demonstrated that CCL19 in combination with either cytokine synergistically enhanced recruitment of CD8 T cells, more than the sum of individual cytokines. Moreover, exhausted T cells in lesional LP skin secreted CXCL13, which along with CCL19 also enhanced recruitment of T cells, suggesting a feed-forward loop in LP. Finally, LP blood revealed decreased circulating naïve CD8 T cells compared to healthy volunteers, consistent with recruitment to skin. Molecular analysis of LP skin and blood samples increased our understanding of disease pathogenesis and identified CCL19 as a new therapeutic target for treatment.

INTRODUCTION: The risk of ischemic stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) with intensive lipid control by statins among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who require direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) is unclear. We aimed to determine the risks of ischemic stroke and ICH in AF patients treated with DOAC and statins. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In a population-based retrospective cohort study, we identified AF patients concurrently on DOAC and statins from 2015 to 2021 in Hong Kong. Primary outcome was ischemic stroke. Secondary outcomes were ICH and death. We correlated study outcomes with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) as time-varying, continuous variables with restricted cubic spline. In secondary analyses, the risks of study outcomes with statin intensity (low, moderate, high) were determined by multivariable time-dependent marginal structural Cox models. RESULTS: We identified 32,752 AF patients co-prescribed with DOAC and statins. Lower LDL-C (p < 0.001) and higher HDL-C (p < 0.001) levels were associated with lower risk of ischemic stroke but not significantly associated with ICH. LDL-C of <1.8 mmol/L (70 mg/dL) was not associated with mortality (19.6% vs 18.4%, difference 1.2% [95% CI -0.35 to 2.13]). High-intensity statin was associated with a lower risk of ischemic stroke compared with low-intensity statin (weighted Cox-specific hazard ratio [95% CI]: 0.82 [0.67-0.99], p = 0.040) independent of LDL-C levels. Similar associations were found in 11,444 AF patients with a history of ischemic stroke. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Intensive lipid control by high-intensity statins was associated with a lower risk of ischemic stroke in AF patients who required DOACs and did not appear to increase the risk of ICH.

BACKGROUND: The second-generation metaphyseal cone was useful in managing bone defects in revision knee arthroplasty. However, due to the anatomical constraints in Asian osteometry, the authors utilized a novel free-hand burring technique instead of cannulated reaming for bone preparation. We reported the short-term outcomes of our surgical techniques specific to Asian osteometry. METHODS: We conducted a case series by consecutively recruiting 13 female and 12 male patients (involving 25 knees), with a mean age of 71 years (range, 54-88 years). The patients underwent revision total knee arthroplasty during the period from April 2017 to June 2022. Twenty-three tibial cones and 4 femoral cones using free-hand burring technique were implanted. The mean follow-up duration was 51 months (range 18-80 months). Due to the relatively small bone size and meta-diaphyseal center mismatch in the Asian knees, the free-hand burring technique instead of the cannulated reaming technique was adopted in preparing for cone implantation. The clinical outcomes were knee ranges of motion, the Knee Society Knee scores (KSS), end-of-stem pain, infection, and the need for revision surgery. The radiological outcomes included osteointegration, fracture, and loosening. RESULTS: Mean knee range of motion improved from 83 degrees (range 0°-120°) preoperatively to 106 degrees (range 60°-125°) postoperatively (P < 0.001). Mean KSS improved significantly from 29 (range 0-70) to 69 (range 5-100) (P < 0.001). All cones were osteointegrated. One case had transient end-of-stem pain, two developed intraoperative minor femoral fractures and one suffered from recurrent infection that did not require cone revision. Cone revision-free survivorship was 100%. There was no aseptic loosening. CONCLUSIONS: The second-generation cone implanted with free-hand burring bone preparation yielded promising short-term outcomes in Asian knees.

A substantial proportion of Hong Kong's aging population suffers from osteoarthritis in both knees. Bilateral total knee arthroplasty (BTKA) is a surgical option for addressing this condition and can be performed via two approaches: simultaneous BTKA (SimBTKA) and staged BTKA (StaBTKA). We compared the cost-effectiveness and safety of these two methods in our institution. We retrospectively reviewed 2,372 patients (SimBTKA, 772; StaBTKA, 1,600; females, 1,780; males, 592; mean age at SimBTKA, 70.4 ± 7.99 years; mean age at StaBTKA, 66.4 ± 7.50 years; p < 0.001) who underwent BTKA in our institution from 2001 to 2022. Patients were categorized according to the surgical approach. Patients undergoing BTKA in our institution were included. Particularly for SimBTKA, patients were assessed by anesthetists to be medically fit before undergoing the procedure according to their age, American Society of Anesthesiologists status, and osteoarthritis severity. The primary outcome was the length of stay (LOS) after surgery. The secondary outcomes were the 30-day unintended readmission, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and death. SimBTKA had a shorter mean total LOS (acute hospital + rehabilitation center; SimBTKA, 13.09 days; StaBTKA, 18.12 days; p < 0.001) and mean LOS in acute hospital (SimBTKA, 7.70 days; StaBTKA, 10.42 days; p < 0.001). However, no significant difference was found in the mean LOS in rehabilitation centers (SimBTKA, 5.47 days; StaBTKA, 6.32 days; p > 0.05) between the two approaches. The 30-day unintended readmission rate was lower in SimBTKA (SimBTKA, 2.07%; StaBTKA, 3.30%; odds ratio [OR] = 1.60; p > 0.05) but statistically insignificant. SimBTKA was less costly than StaBTKA by US$ 8,422.22 per patient. No significant differences in ICU admission and death rates were found (p > 0.05) between the two groups. SimBTKA had a shorter LOS and lower cost than StaBTKA and comparable complication rates. Therefore, SimBTKA should be indicated in medically stable patients.

Our study aims to delineate the phenotypes of chronic neuropsychiatric symptoms among adult subjects recovering from their first COVID that occurred more than one year ago. We also aim to explore the clinical and socioeconomic risk factors of having a high loading of chronic neuropsychiatric symptoms. We recruited a post-COVID group who suffered from their first pre-Omicron COVID more than a year ago, and a control group who had never had COVID. The subjects completed app-based questionnaires on demographic, socioeconomic and health status, a COVID symptoms checklist, mental and sleep health measures, and neurocognitive tests. The post-COVID group has a statistically significantly higher level of fatigue compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Among the post-COVID group, the lack of any COVID vaccination before the first COVID and a higher level of material deprivation before the COVID pandemic predicts a higher load of chronic post-COVID neuropsychiatric symptoms. Partial correlation network analysis suggests that the chronic post-COVID neuropsychiatric symptoms can be clustered into two major (cognitive complaints -fatigue and anxiety-depression) and one minor (headache-dizziness) cluster. A higher level of material deprivation predicts a higher number of symptoms in both major clusters, but the lack of any COVID vaccination before the first COVID only predicts a higher number of symptoms in the cognitive complaints-fatigue cluster. Our result suggests heterogeneity among chronic post-COVID neuropsychiatric symptoms, which are associated with the complex interplay of biological and socioeconomic factors.

Stroke affects up to one in five people during their lifetime in some high-income countries, and up to almost one in two in low-income countries. Globally, it is the second leading cause of death. Clinically, the disease is characterised by sudden neurological deficits. Vascular aetiologies contribute to the most common causes of ischaemic stroke, including large artery disease, cardioembolism, and small vessel disease. Small vessel disease is also the most frequent cause of intracerebral haemorrhage, followed by macrovascular causes. For acute ischaemic stroke, multimodal CT or MRI reveal infarct core, ischaemic penumbra, and site of vascular occlusion. For intracerebral haemorrhage, neuroimaging identifies early radiological markers of haematoma expansion and probable underlying cause. For intravenous thrombolysis in ischaemic stroke, tenecteplase is now a safe and effective alternative to alteplase. In patients with strokes caused by large vessel occlusion, the indications for endovascular thrombectomy have been extended to include larger core infarcts and basilar artery occlusion, and the treatment time window has increased to up to 24 h from stroke onset. Regarding intracerebral haemorrhage, prompt delivery of bundled care consisting of immediate anticoagulation reversal, simultaneous blood pressure lowering, and prespecified stroke unit protocols can improve clinical outcomes. Guided by underlying stroke mechanisms, secondary prevention encompasses pharmacological, vascular, or endovascular interventions and lifestyle modifications.

BACKGROUND: Recently, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been used to simulate blood flow of symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (sICAS) and investigate the clinical implications of its haemodynamic features, which were systematically reviewed in this study. METHODS: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and Meta-analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology statements, we searched PubMed and Embase up to March 2024 and screened for articles reporting clinical implications of haemodynamic parameters in sICAS derived from CFD models. RESULTS: 19 articles met the inclusion criteria, all studies recruiting patients from China. Most studies used CT angiography (CTA) as the source image for vessel segmentation, and generic boundary conditions, rigid vessel wall and Newtonian fluid assumptions for CFD modelling, in patients with 50%-99% sICAS. Pressure and wall shear stress (WSS) were quantified in almost all studies, and the translesional changes in pressure and WSS were usually quantified with a poststenotic to prestenotic pressure ratio (PR) and stenotic-throat to prestenotic WSS ratio (WSSR). Lower PR was associated with more severe stenosis, better leptomeningeal collaterals, prolonged perfusion time and internal borderzone infarcts. Higher WSSR and other WSS measures were associated with positive vessel wall remodelling, regression of luminal stenosis and artery-to-artery embolism. Lower PR and higher WSSR were both associated with the presence and severity of cerebral small vessel disease. Moreover, translesional PR and WSSR were promising predictors for stroke recurrence in medically treated patients with sICAS and outcomes after acute reperfusion therapy, which also provided indicators to assess the effects of stenting treatment on focal haemodynamics. CONCLUSIONS: CFD is a promising tool in investigating the pathophysiology of ICAS and in risk stratification of patients with sICAS. Future studies are warranted for standardisation of the modelling methods and validation of the simulation results in sICAS, for its wider applications in clinical research and practice.

BACKGROUND: The high co-prevalence of obesity and end-stage osteoarthritis requiring arthroplasty, with the former being a risk factor for complications during arthroplasty, has led to increasing interest in employing preoperative weight loss interventions such as bariatric surgery and diet modification. However, the current evidence is conflicting, and this study aimed to investigate the effect of weight loss intervention before arthroplasty in prospective randomized controlled trials. METHODS: Four electronic databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) were searched for prospective randomized controlled trials that compared weight loss interventions with usual care from inception to October 2023 by following the PRISMA guidelines. The Cochrane risk of bias tool and GRADE framework were used to assess the quality of the studies. Meta-analyses were performed when sufficient data were available from 2 or more studies. RESULTS: Three randomized controlled trials involving 198 patients were identified. Two studies employed diet modification, and one study utilized bariatric surgery. All three studies reported significant reductions in body weight and body mass index (BMI), and intervention groups had fewer postoperative complications. There was no difference in the length of stay between the intervention group and the control group. Variable patient-reported outcome measures were used by different research groups. CONCLUSION: Weight loss intervention can achieve significant reductions in body weight and body mass index before arthroplasty, with fewer postoperative complications reported. Further studies with different populations could confirm the effect of these interventions among populations with different obesity characteristics.

BACKGROUND: Intensive task-oriented training has shown promise in enhancing distal motor function among patients with chronic stroke. A personalized electromyography (EMG)-driven soft robotic hand was developed to assist task-oriented object-manipulation training effectively. Objective. To compare the effectiveness of task-oriented training using the EMG-driven soft robotic hand. METHODS: A single-blinded, randomized controlled trial was conducted with 34 chronic stroke survivors. The subjects were randomly assigned to the Hand Task (HT) group (n = 17) or the control (CON) group (n = 17). The HT group received 45 minutes of task-oriented training by manipulating small objects with the robotic hand for 20 sessions, while the CON group received 45 minutes of hand-functional exercises without objects using the same robot. Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA-UE), Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), Modified Ashworth Score (MAS), Box and Block test (BBT), Maximum Grip Strength, and active range of motion (AROM) of fingers were assessed at baseline, after intervention, and 3 months follow-up. The muscle co-contraction index (CI) was analyzed to evaluate the session-by-session variation of upper limb EMG patterns. RESULTS: The HT group showed more significant improvement in FMA-UE (wrist/hand, shoulder/elbow) compared to the CON group (P < .05). At 3-month follow-up, the HT group demonstrated significant improvements in FMA-UE, ARAT, BBT, MAS (finger), and AROMs (P < .05). The HT group exhibited a more significant decrease in muscle co-contractions compared to the CON group (P < .05). CONCLUSIONS: EMG-driven task-oriented training with the personalized soft robotic hand was a practical approach to improving motor function and muscle coordination. Background: Endovascular therapy (EVT) was demonstrated effective in acute large vessel occlusion (LVO) with large infarction. Revealing subgroups of patients who would or would not benefit from EVT will further inform patient selection for EVT. Methods: This post-hoc analysis of the ANGEL-ASPECT trial, a randomised controlled trial of 456 adult patients with acute anterior-circulation LVO and large infarction, defined by ASPECTS 3-5 or infarct core volume 70-100 mL, enrolled from 46 centres across China, between October 2, 2020 and May 18, 2022. Patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receiving EVT and medical management or medical management alone. One patient withdrew consent, 455 patients were included in this post-hoc analysis and categorised into 4 subgroups by lower or higher NIHSS (< or ≥16) and smaller or larger infarct core (< or ≥70 mL). Those with lower NIHSS & smaller core, and higher NIHSS & larger core were considered clinical-radiological matched subgroups; otherwise clinical-radiological mismatched subgroups. Primary outcome was 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS). ANGEL-ASPECT is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04551664. Findings: Overall, 139 (30.5%) patients had lower NIHSS & smaller core, 106 (23.3%) higher NIHSS & larger core, 130 (28.6%) higher NIHSS & smaller core, and 80 (17.6%) lower NIHSS & larger core. There was significant ordinal shift in the 90-day mRS toward a better outcome with EVT in clinical-radiological matched subgroups: lower NIHSS & smaller core (generalised OR, 1.76; 95% CI, 1.18-2.62; p = 0.01) and higher NIHSS & larger core (1.64; 1.06-2.54; 0.01); but not in the two clinical-radiological mismatched subgroups. Interpretation: Our findings suggested that in patients with anterior-circulation LVO and large infarction, EVT was associated with improved 90-day functional outcomes in those with matched clinical and radiological severities, but not in those with mismatched clinical and radiological severities. Simultaneous consideration of stroke severity and infarct core volume may inform patient selection for EVT. BACKGROUND: There is a significant burden of stroke in Asia. Asia has the largest population in the world in 2023, estimated at 4.7 billion. Approximately 9.5-10.6 million strokes will be anticipated annually in the backdrop of a diverse group of well-developed and less developed countries with large disparities in stroke care resources. In addition, Asian countries are in varying phases of epidemiological transition. SUMMARY: In this review, we examined recent epidemiological features of ischaemic stroke and intracerebral haemorrhage in Asia with recent developments in hyperacute stroke reperfusion therapy and technical improvements in intracerebral haemorrhage. The article also discussed the spectrum of cerebrovascular diseases in Asia, which include intracranial atherosclerosis, intracerebral haemorrhage, infective aetiologies of stroke, moyamoya disease, vascular dissection, radiation vasculopathy, and cerebral venous thrombosis. KEY MESSAGES: The review of selected literature and recent updates calls for attention to the different requirements for resources within Asia and highlights the breadth of cerebrovascular diseases still requiring further research and more effective therapies.

Background: Post-stroke behavioral disinhibition (PSBD) is common in stroke survivors and often presents as impulsive, tactless or vulgar behavior. However, it often remains undiagnosed and thus untreated, even though it can lead to a longer length of stay in a rehabilitation facility. The proposed study will aim to evaluate the clinical, neuropsychological and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) correlates of PSBD in a cohort of stroke survivors and describe its 12-month course. Methods: This prospective cohort study will recruit 237 patients and will be conducted at the Neurology Unit of the Prince of Wales Hospital. The project duration will be 24 months. The patients will be examined by multiple MRI methods, including diffusion-weighted imaging, within 1 week after stroke onset. The patients and their caregivers will receive a detailed assessment at a research clinic at 3, 9 and 15 months after stroke onset (T1, T2 and T3, respectively). The disinhibition subscale of the Frontal Systems Behavior Scale (FrSBe) will be completed by each subject and caregiver, and scores ≥65 will be considered to indicate PSBD.A stepwise logistic regression will be performed to assess the importance of lesions in the regions of interest (ROIs), together with other significant variables identified in the univariate analyses. For patients with PSBD at T1, the FrSBe disinhibition scores will be compared between the groups of patients with and without ROI infarcts, using covariance analysis. The demographic, clinical and MRI variables of remitters and non-remitters will be examined again at T2 and T3 by logistic regression. Discussion: This project will be the first MRI study on PSBD in stroke survivors. The results will shed light on the associations of lesions in the orbitofrontal cortex, anterior temporal lobe and subcortical brain structures with the risk of PSBD. The obtained data will advance our understanding of the pathogenesis and clinical course of PSBD in stroke, as well as other neurological conditions. The findings are thus likely to be applicable to the large population of patients with neurological disorders at risk of PSBD and are expected to stimulate further research in this field.
