RESUMEN

Controlling interfacial reactions is critical for zinc oxide (ZnO)-based inverted perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs), boosting the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of the near-infrared device to above 20%. However, violent interfacial reactions between the bromine-based perovskites and ZnO-based films severely limit the performance of inverted green PeLEDs, whose efficiency and stability lag far behind those of their near-infrared counterparts. Here, a controllable interfacial amidation between the bromine-based perovskites and magnesium-doped ZnO (ZnMgO) film utilizing caprylyl sulfobetaine (SFB) is realized. The SFB molecules strongly interact with formamidinium bromide, decelerating the amidation reaction between formamidinium and carboxylate groups on the ZnMgO film, thus regulating the crystallization of FAPbBr3. Combined with the passivation of benzylamine, a FAPbBr3 bulk film directly deposited on a ZnMgO substrate with single-crystal characteristics is obtained, exhibiting a high photoluminescence quantum yield of above 80%. The resultant PeLEDs demonstrate a peak EQE of exceeding 20% at a high luminance of 120,000 cd m-2 and a half lifetime of 26 min at 11,000 cd m-2, representing the state-of-the-art inverted green electroluminescence. This work resolves the crucial issues of violent interfacial reactions and provides a strategy toward inverted green PeLEDs with outstanding performance.

Perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are promising for various photonic applications due to their high colour purity, tunable optoelectronic properties and excellent solution processability. Surface features impact their optoelectronic properties, and surface defects remain a major obstacle to progress. Here we develop a strategy utilizing diisooctylphosphinic acid-mediated synthesis combined with hydriodic acid-etching-driven nanosurface reconstruction to stabilize CsPbI3 QDs. Diisooctylphosphinic acid strongly adsorbs to the QDs and increases the formation energy of halide vacancies, enabling nanosurface reconstruction. The QD film with nanosurface reconstruction shows enhanced phase stability, improved photoluminescence endurance under thermal stress and electric field conditions, and a higher activation energy for ion migration. Consequently, we demonstrate perovskite light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that feature an electroluminescence peak at 644 nm. These LEDs achieve an external quantum efficiency of 28.5% and an operational half-lifetime surpassing 30 h at an initial luminance of 100 cd m-2, marking a tenfold improvement over previously published studies. The integration of these high-performance LEDs with specifically designed thin-film transistor circuits enables the demonstration of solution-processed active-matrix perovskite displays that show a peak external quantum efficiency of 23.6% at a display brightness of 300 cd m-2. This work showcases nanosurface reconstruction as a pivotal pathway towards high-performance QD-based optoelectronic devices.

Broadband electroluminescence based on environment-friendly emitters is promising for healthy lighting yet remains an unprecedented challenge to progress. The copper halide-based emitters are competitive candidates for broadband emission, but their high-performance electroluminescence shows inadequate broad emission bandwidth of less than 90 nm. Here, we demonstrate efficient ultra-broadband electroluminescence from a copper halide (CuI) nanocluster single emitter prepared by a one-step solution synthesis-deposition process, through dedicated design of ligands and subtle selection of solvents. The CuI nanocluster exhibits high rigidity in the excitation state as well as dual-emissive modes of phosphorescence and temperature-activated delayed fluorescence, enabling the uniform cluster-composed film to show excellent stability and high photoluminescent efficiency. In consequence, ultra-broadband light-emitting diodes (LEDs) present nearly identical performance in an inert or air atmosphere without encapsulation and outstanding high-temperature operation performance, reaching an emission full width at half maximum (FWHM) of ~120 nm, a peak external quantum efficiency of 13%, a record maximum luminance of ~50,000 cd m-2, and an operating half-lifetime of 137 h at 100 cd m-2. The results highlight the potential of copper halide nanoclusters for next-generation healthy lighting.

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are one of the most promising high-energy density secondary batteries due to their high theoretical energy density of 2600 Wh kg-1. However, the sluggish kinetics and severe "shuttle effect" of polysulfides are the well-known barriers that hinder their practical applications. A carefully designed catalytic host of sulfur may be an effective strategy that not only accelerates the conversion of polysulfides but also limit their dissolution to mitigate the "shuttle effect." Herein, in situ surface-phosphided Ni0.96Co0.03Mn0.01O (p-NCMO) oxide microspheres are prepared via gas-phase phosphidation as a catalytic host of sulfur. The as-prepared unique heterostructured microspheres, with enriched surface-coated metal phosphide, exhibit superior synergistic effect of catalytic conversion and absorption of the otherwise soluble intermediate polysulfides. Correspondingly, the sulfur cathode exhibits excellent electrochemical performance, including a high initial discharge capacity (1162 mAh gs-1 at 0.1C), long cycling stability (491 mAh gs-1 after 1000 cycles at 1C), and excellent rate performance (565 mAh gs-1 at 5C). Importantly, the newly prepared sulfur cathode shows a high areal capacity of 4.0 mAh cm-2 and long cycle stability under harsh conditions (high sulfur loading of 5.3 mg cm-2 and lean electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 5.8 µL mg-1). This work proposes an effective strategy to develop the catalytic hosts of sulfur for achieving high-performance Li-S batteries via surface phosphidation.

Choanal polyps belong to a special type of nasal polyps, which are quite uncommon if originating from the nasal septum, especially those with osseous metaplasia. In this article, we report the case of a 63-year-old male patient with persistent nasal obstruction on the right side. An irregular light yellow lobulated mass with smooth surface could be visualized in the nasal cavity through nasal endoscopy, arising from the right nasal septum and extending to the nasopharynx. Computed tomography scan showed a large soft tissue shadow of the nasal meatus, with ossified structure in the center. Histopathological biopsy revealed nasopharyngeal mucositis. The patient underwent functional endoscopic sinus surgery and the polypoidal mass sent for histopathological examination proved to be choanal polyps.

Super-resolution microscopy has revolutionized the field of biophotonics by revealing detailed 3D biological structures. Nonetheless, the technique is still largely limited by the low throughput and hampered by increased background signals for dense or thick biological specimens. In this paper, we present a pixel-reassigned continuous line-scanning microscope for large-scale high-speed 3D super-resolution imaging, which achieves an imaging resolution of 0.41 µm in the lateral direction, i.e., a 2× resolution enhancement from the raw images. Specifically, the recorded line images are first reassigned to the line-excitation center at each scanning position to enhance the resolution. Next, a modified HiLo algorithm is applied to reduce the background signals. Parametric models have been developed to simulate the imaging results of randomly distributed fluorescent beads. Imaging experiments were designed and performed to verify the predicted performance on various biological samples, which demonstrated an imaging speed of 3400 pixels/ms on millimeter-scale specimens. These results confirm the pixel-reassigned line-scanning microscopy is a facile and powerful method to realize large-area super-resolution imaging on thick or dense biological samples.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked unprecedented transformations in the lives of adolescents, with reshaping their routines, social dynamics, educational experiences, and overall well-being. Our study delves into the influence of various factors on adolescents' quality of life (QOL) among the COVID-19 pandemic in Shandong Province, China. METHODS: Employing a cross-sectional research approach combined with multivariable analysis, we scrutinize the association of demographic factors (age, gender, education level, ethnic groups, urban area, and family economic status) and health-related behaviors (sleep duration, and self-reported health status) with QOL in 9953 students. RESULTS: During the pandemic, the average QOL for adolescents in Shandong Province was 133. Our analysis revealed that sleep duration and age had statistically significant associations with total QOL, with the OR values of 1.43 (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.03 to 1.83) and 0.44 (95% CI: 0.19 to 0.70), respectively. Notably, we observed that adolescents from economically disadvantaged families, or those with poorer self-reported health status, were more likely to report lower QOL scores. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, our study highlights the potential association of sleep duration, age, family economic status, and self-reported health with the QOL of adolescents in Shandong Province during the pandemic. During similar public health crises, policymakers, educators, and healthcare providers can actively work through resource allocation and effective intervention measures towards alleviating financial burdens, improving health conditions, and ultimately enhancing the total QOL for adolescents.

High-performance pure red perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with an emission wavelength shorter than 650 nm are ideal for wide-color-gamut displays, yet remain an unprecedented challenge to progress. Mixed-halide CsPb(Br/I)3 emitter-based PeLEDs suffer spectral stability induced by halide phase segregation and CsPbI3 quantum dots (QDs) suffer from a compromise between emission wavelength and electroluminescence efficiency. Here, we demonstrate efficient pure red PeLEDs with an emission centered at 638 nm based on PbClx -modified CsPbI3 QDs. A nucleophilic reaction that releases chloride ions and manipulates the ligand equilibrium of the colloidal system is developed to synthesize the pure red emission QDs. The comprehensive structural and spectroscopic characterizations evidence the formation of PbClx outside the CsPbI3 QDs, which regulates exciton recombination and prevents the exciton from dissociation induced by surface defects. In consequence, PeLEDs based on PbClx -modified CsPbI3 QDs with superior optoelectronic properties demonstrate stable electroluminescence spectra at high driving voltages, a record external quantum efficiency of 26.1 %, optimal efficiency roll-off of 16.0 % at 1000 cd m-2 , and a half lifetime of 7.5 hours at 100 cd m-2 , representing the state-of-the-art pure red PeLEDs. This work provides new insight into constructing the carrier-confined structure on perovskite QDs for high-performance PeLEDs.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) depends on the light-irradiated exciting of photosensitizer (PS) to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), which faces challenges and limitations in hypoxia and antioxidant response of cancer cells, and limited tissue-penetration of light. Herein, a multifunctional DNA/upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) complex is developed which enables controlled co-delivery of CRISPR-Cas9, hemin, and protoporphyrin (PP) for synergistic PDT. An ultralong single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) is prepared via rolling circle amplification (RCA), which contains recognition sequences of single guide RNA (sgRNA) for loading Cas9 ribonucleoprotein (RNP), G-quadruplex sequences for loading hemin and PP, and linker sequences for combining UCNP. Cas9 RNP cleaves the antioxidant regulator nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), improving the sensitivity of cancer cells to ROS, and enhancing the synergistic PDT effect. The G-quadruplex/hemin DNAzyme mimicks horseradish peroxidase (HRP) to catalyze the endogenous H2O2 to O2, overcoming hypoxia condition in tumors. The introduced UCNP converts NIR irradiation with deep tissue penetration to light with shorter wavelength, exciting PP to transform the abundant O2 to 1O2. The integration of gene editing and PDT allows substantial accumulation of 1O2 in cancer cells for enhanced cell apoptosis, and this synergistic PDT has shown remarkable therapeutic efficacy in a breast cancer mouse model.

Nearly 94% of breast cancer survivors experience one or more symptoms or side effects during or after endocrine therapy. Joint pain, hot flashes, sleep disturbance, fatigue, depression, and anxiety are the most common concurrent symptoms, some of which can persist for 5 to 10 years. Acupuncture is a holistic modality that addresses multiple symptoms and side effects in a single therapy. Acupuncture has not yet been investigated for its effectiveness in treating the multiple symptoms experienced by breast cancer survivors receiving endocrine therapy. Medically underserved breast cancer survivors typically have limited access to acupuncture. The barriers limiting access to acupuncture need to be removed to enable equal access to breast cancer survivors for this evidence-based treatment. Thus, we developed a randomized controlled trial with a 5-week acupuncture intervention versus usual care for medically underserved breast cancer survivors. Mixed methods (semi-structured interviews, surveys, study notes) will be used to obtain in-depth understanding of barriers and facilitators for eventual implementation of the acupuncture intervention. This study will facilitate the widespread implementation, dissemination, and sustained utilization of acupuncture for symptom management among medically underserved breast cancer survivors receiving endocrine therapy.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the role of Tripterygium wilfordii multiglycoside (TGW) in the treatment of psoriatic dermatitis from a cellular immunological perspective. METHODS: Mouse models of psoriatic dermatitis were established by imiquimod (IMQ). Twelve male BALB/c mice were assigned to IMQ or IMQ+TGW groups according to a random number table. Histopathological changes in vivo were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Ratios of immune cells and cytokines in mice, as well as PAM212 cell proliferation in vitro were assessed by flow cytometry. Pro-inflammatory cytokine expression was determined using reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: TGW significantly ameliorated the severity of IMQ-induced psoriasis-like mouse skin lesions and restrained the activation of CD45+ cells, neutrophils and T lymphocytes (all P<0.01). Moreover, TGW significantly attenuated keratinocytes (KCs) proliferation and downregulated the mRNA levels of inflammatory cytokines including interleukin (IL)-17A, IL-23, tumor necrosis factor α, and chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 1 (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Furthermore, it reduced the number of γ δ T17 cells in skin lesion of mice and draining lymph nodes (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: TGW improved psoriasis-like inflammation by inhibiting KCs proliferation, as well as the associated immune cells and cytokine expression. It inhibited IL-17 secretion from γ δ T cells, which improved the immune-inflammatory microenvironment of psoriasis.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hemoglobin disorder and the most common genetic disorder that affects 100,000 Americans and millions worldwide. Adults living with SCD have pain so severe that it often requires opioids to keep it in control. Depression is a major global public health concern associated with an increased risk in chronic medical disorders, including in adults living with sickle cell disease (SCD). A strong relationship exists between suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, and depression. Researchers enrolling adults living with SCD in pragmatic clinical trials are obligated to design their methods to deliberately monitor and respond to symptoms related to depression and suicidal ideation. This will offer increased protection for their participants and help clinical investigators meet their fiduciary duties. This article presents a review of this sociotechnical milieu that highlights, analyzes, and offers recommendations to address ethical considerations in the development of protocols, procedures, and monitoring activities related to suicidality in depressed patients in a pragmatic clinical trial.

Vibrio mimicus (V. mimicus) is known to cause severe bacterial diseases with high mortality rates in fish, resulting in significant economic losses in the global aquaculture industry. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a safe and effective vaccine for protecting Carassius auratus (C. auratus) against V. mimicus infection. Recombinant Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) strains, Lc-pPG-612-OmpU and Lc-pPG-612-OmpU-CTB (surface-displayed), were constructed using a L. casei strain (ATCC 393) as an antigen delivery carrier and the cholera toxin B subunit (CTB) as an adjuvant. The two recombinant strains of L. casei were administered to C. auratus via oral immunization, and the protective efficacy of the oral vaccines was assessed. The results demonstrated that oral immunization with the two strains significantly increased the levels of nonspecific immune indicators in C. auratus, including alkaline phosphatase (AKP), lysozyme (LYS), acid phosphatase (ACP), complement 3 (C3), complement 4 (C4), lectin, and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Moreover, the experiment groups exhibited significant increases in specific immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies against OmpU, as well as the transcription of immune-related genes (ie., IL-1ß, TNF-α, IL-10, and TGF-ß), when compared to the control groups. Following infection of C. auratus with V. mimicus, the mortality rate of the recombinant L. casei-treated fish was observed to be lower compared to the control group. This finding suggests that recombinant L. casei demonstrates effective protection against V. mimicus infection in C. auratus. Furthermore, the addition of the immune adjuvant CTB was found to induce a more robust adaptive and innate immune response in C. auratus, resulting in reduced mortality after infection with V. mimicus.

Objective: This study aimed to explore perspectives of people living with sickle cell disease (SCD) and SCD clinic providers and staff about the use of acupuncture and guided relaxation for treating chronic SCD pain. Data obtained were to inform an implementation blueprint for an effectiveness implementation clinical trial (GRACE Trial) testing whether acupuncture or guided relaxation reduces chronic pain when compared with usual care. Design: Qualitative research design. Methods: We conducted 33 semistructured interviews with people with SCD and SCD clinic providers and staff. Interviews were transcribed and coded. A deductive content analysis process was used to identify themes. Results: Four themes were identified: Receptivity to Acupuncture and Guided Relaxation, Limited Awareness, Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) Therapy Preference, and Access Barriers. Both patients and clinic providers and staff were open to the use of acupuncture and guided relaxation for chronic pain treatment. After learning about these CIH therapies, some patients expressed a preference for one therapy over the other. They also discussed their ability to successfully engage with each therapy. There is a need to dispel misconceptions about the therapies by increasing understanding of how each therapy is implemented and functions to reduce pain. We identified several potential barriers that might affect the success of the trial and future health system integration, including time, transportation, and technology. Conclusion: This study is one of the first to present perspectives of both patients with SCD and clinic providers and staff on the use of acupuncture and guided relaxation for chronic SCD pain. Stakeholders' early input and perspectives highlighted that they welcome nonpharmacological CIH therapies. Implementation of a clinical trial and future health system integration will require the addressing misinformation and identifying strategies to overcome access barriers. Vibrio mimicus (V. mimicus) is a pathogenic bacterium that causes diseases in humans and various aquatic animals. A particularly efficient way to provide protection against V. mimicus is through vaccination. However, there are few commercial vaccines against V. mimics, especially oral vaccines. In our study, two surface-display recombinant Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) Lc-pPG-OmpK and Lc-pPG-OmpK-CTB were constructed using L. casei ATCC393 as an antigen delivery vector, outer membrane protein K (OmpK) of V. mimicus as an antigen, and cholera toxin B subunit (CTB) as a molecular adjuvant; furthermore, the immunological effects of recombinant L.casei in Carassius auratus (C. auratus) were assessed. The results indicated that oral recombinant L.casei Lc-pPG-OmpK and Lc-pPG-OmpK-CTB stimulated higher levels of serum-specific immunoglobulin M (IgM) and increased the activity of acid phosphatase (ACP), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), superoxide dismutase (SOD), lysozyme (LYS), lectin, C3, and C4 in C. auratus, compared with control groups (Lc-pPG group and PBS group). Furthermore, the expression of interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), interleukin-10 (IL-10), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and transforming growth factor-ß (TGF-ß) in the liver, spleen, head kidney, hind intestine and gills of C. auratus was significantly increased, compared with that in the controls. These results demonstrated that the two recombinant L. casei strains could effectively trigger humoral and cellular immunity in C. auratus. In addition, two recombinant L.casei strains were able to survive and colonize the intestine of C. auratus. Importantly, after being challenged with V. mimicus, C. auratus fed Lc-pPG-OmpK and Lc-pPG-OmpK-CTB exhibited greater survival rates than the controls (52.08% and 58.33%, respectively). The data showed that recombinant L. casei could elicit a protective immunological response in C. auratus. The effect of the Lc-pPG-OmpK-CTB group was better than that of the Lc-pPG-OmpK group, and Lc-pPG-OmpK-CTB was found to be an effective candidate for oral vaccination.

Background: Juvenile myasthenia gravis (JMG) is a rare autoimmune disease that has so far only been described in small cohort studies. We defined the clinical characteristics, management, and outcomes of JMG patients over the past 22 years. Methods: A search of PubMed, EMBASE, and web of science (1/2000-2/2022) identified all English language and human studies of JMG. The population was patients diagnosed with JMG. Outcomes included the history of myasthenic crisis, autoimmune comorbidity, mortality, and treatment outcome. Data extraction was performed by independent reviewers. And we performed a pooled reanalysis of all published data in the included studies and compared with other studies of adult cohorts. Results: We identified 11 articles describing 1,109 patients diagnosed between 2006 and 2021. JMG occurred in 60.4% of female patients. The mean age at presentation was 7.38 years old, and 60.6% of the patients had ocular symptoms as the first clinical manifestation. The most common initial presentation was ptosis, which occurred in 77.7% patients. AchR-Ab positive accounted for 78.7%. 641 patients received thymus examination, found to have thymic hyperplasia in 64.9% and thymoma in 2.2%. Autoimmune comorbidity was found in 13.6% and the most common one is thyroid disease (61.5%). First-line therapy, including pyridostigmine and steroids, was initiated in 97.8 and 68.6%, respectively. Six patients resolved spontaneously without treatment. Thymectomy was performed in 45.6%. 10.6% of patients had a history of myasthenic crisis. Completely stable remission was achieved in 23.7% and mortality was reported in 2 studies, which reported 8 deaths. Conclusion: JMG is a rare disease with a relatively benign course, and differs from adult MG in some clinical features. The treatment regimen guideline for children is still not well-established. There is a need for prospective studies to properly evaluate treatment regimes.

The development of singlet fission (SF) is greatly hindered by the severe shortage of the types and numbers of SF materials. Here, essential energy conditions and SF-related competitive processes of a series of BPEA derivatives, which are a kind of new promising SF material, are investigated theoretically. Encouraging advantages and interesting laws of key energy conditions of those derivatives were found and potential BPEA derivatives were predicted. Those derivatives present mild exothermic SF processes with 0.3-0.4 eV free energies (ΔE(S1-2T1)) consistently. Their lowest triplet states (T1) are stable and totally enter into the ideal energy window (≥1.0 eV), which is beneficial for achieving the maximum efficiency of PCE. Their large ΔE(T2-2T1) can suppress the higher-state annihilation of T1 well. The E(S1) and ΔE(S1-2T1) of the derivatives are sensitive to both the slip patterns of the dimer and ending substituents. Terminal substituents with both strong electron-withdrawing and electron-donating abilities can lower E(S1), and decreases in the former are more obvious due to the larger intramolecular charge transfer. Interestingly, it is found firstly that the terminal substituent modulation effect on E(S1) and ΔE(S1-2T1) is more effective when large longitudinal slips are included in their stacking modes. The reason is that the direction of the transition dipole moments (µs1) is along X, and large longitudinal slips will bring about the approach of positive and negative charge centers of monomers, and lead to large Davydov splitting. By further evaluation of important radiation and non-radiation processes, it is predicted that the BPEA-based derivatives, which have rigid -Cl, -Br, or -CN terminals and include large longitudinal slips in their crystal packing, are expected to achieve excellent SF performances. Our work provides useful ideas for developing or optimizing acene-derivative SF materials with high efficiency.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease mediated by immune and complex genetic factors. The wingless-related integration site (Wnt) signaling pathway plays a critical role in psoriasis, but how the Wnt pathway is regulated in psoriatic skin and whether it can be exploited for therapeutic benefits is unclear. By comparing biopsies from healthy and psoriatic skin, we found that Wnt inhibitory factor 1 (WIF1), an inhibitor of Wnt signaling, showed reduced expression at both mRNA and protein levels in psoriatic skin. We then quantified methylation of the WIF1 gene promoter by DNA methylation sequencing and found that the WIF1 promoter region was hypermethylated. We further showed that recombinant WIF1 injection ameliorates the imiquimod (IMQ) mouse model of psoriasis. We also revealed that treatment with the DNA methylation inhibitor, decitabine, inhibited proliferation of immortalized human keratinocytes (HaCaT) in a psoriasis-like inflammatory environment. Finally, we applied decitabine to the IMQ mouse model and demonstrated that treatment of mice with decitabine ameliorates the disease. Therefore, our study reveals that methylation of the WIF1 gene is associated with the pathogenesis of psoriasis, and suggests that pharmacological targeting of DNA methylation is a potential treatment strategy for psoriasis.

Background: People with sickle cell disease frequently use complementary and integrative therapies to cope with their pain, yet few studies have evaluated their effectiveness. The 3-arm, 3-site pragmatic Hybrid Effectiveness-implementation Trial of Guided Relaxation and Acupuncture for Chronic Sickle Cell Disease Pain (GRACE) has 3 priorities: (1) evaluate guided relaxation and acupuncture to improve pain control; (2) determine the most appropriate and effective treatment sequence for any given patient based on their unique characteristics; and (3) describe the processes and structures required to implement guided relaxation and acupuncture within health care systems. Methods: Participants (N = 366) are being recruited and randomized 1:1:1 to one of 2 intervention groups or usual care. The acupuncture intervention group receives 10 sessions over approximately 5 weeks. The guided relaxation intervention group receives access to video sessions ranging from 2 to 20 min each viewed daily over 5 weeks. The usual care group receives the standard of clinical care for sickle cell disease. Participants are re-randomized at 6 weeks depending on their pain impact score. Assessments occur at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks. The primary outcome is the change in pain impact score and secondary measures include opioid use, anxiety, depression, sleep, pain catastrophizing, substance use, global impression of change, constipation, and hospitalizations. The GRACE study uses the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research to plan, execute, and evaluate the associated implementation processes. Conclusion: The results from GRACE will represent a critical step toward improving management of pain affecting patients with sickle cell disease.ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04906447.
