RESUMEN

The Ediacaran Doushantuo phosphate deposit in Kaiyang, Guizhou Province, China, contains thick phosphate ores. Most of the ores are reconstituted phosphorite, and there have been few studies of the primary phosphorites, which has led to controversy regarding the origins and nature of mineralization of these phosphate-rich deposits. We identified high-grade primary phosphorites in the Kaiyang area and undertook a stratigraphic, petrological, sedimentological, geochemical, and isotopic study of these rocks. Moving up-section, the Longshui phosphate ore deposit comprises granular, micritic, stromatolitic, honeycomb, and sandy phosphorites. The first four types of phosphorite contain abundant biological structures, such as spherical, lobe-like, and amorphous forms. These are mainly fossils of benthic multicellular red algae, along with other types of algae. These fossils comprise >70% of the phosphorites, indicating that these are protist phosphorites. The ores are massive, unstratified, and contain numerous layered cavity structures, indicating that the ore bed was originally a reef. The phosphorites have P2O5 contents of 38.6-40.2 wt %, with an average of 38.9 wt %. The Al2O3 + TiO2 values are 0.02-0.44 wt %. The δ18O values of the samples vary from 13.76 to 16.57‰, with an average of 14.60‰, and δ13C values range from -15.789 to -8.697‰, with an average of -13.133‰. The samples exhibit rare-earth element patterns that are enriched with middle rare-earth elements and have strongly negative Ce anomalies. The geochemical features show that the reef was deposited in clear and oxidized waters. The discovery of this high-grade protist phosphorite shows that the involvement of algae was key to the formation of the Kaiyang phosphate-rich deposit.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate injection (STS) is widely used in the clinical treatment of coronary heart disease angina pectoris (CHDAP). This article systematically summarizes and evaluates the available evidence for STS in the treatment of AP, and assess its quality. METHODS: Two researchers searched and extracted 8 databases for systematic reviews (SRs)/meta-analyses (MAs), and independently assessed the methodological quality, risk of bias, reporting quality, and quality of evidence of SRs/MAs included in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Tools used included the Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR-2), the risk of bias in systematic (ROBIS) scale, the list of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA), and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) system. RESULTS: This overview includes 11 SRs/MAs that use quantitative calculations to comprehensively evaluate various efficacies of STS in AP intervention. The methodological quality, reporting quality, risk of bias, and quality of evidence for outcome measures of SRs/MAs were all unsatisfactory. All SRs/MAs are of low quality according to the results of the AMSTAR-2 assessment, and only a small number of SRs/MAs were assessed as low risk of bias based on the results of the ROBIS assessment, and none of the SRs/MAs has been fully reported on the checklist. According to GRADE system, 33 outcomes were extracted from the included SRs/MAs for evaluation, of which 12 were rated as moderate-quality evidence, 7 as low-quality evidence, and 14 as very low-quality evidence. Limitations included the lack of essential items such as protocol registration, screening of duplicate studies, provision of a list of excluded studies and assessment of publication bias. CONCLUSION: Tanshinone IIA Sulfonate Sodium Injection may be an effective and safe treatment method. However, further standardized, comprehensive SRs/MAs and RCTs are needed to provide evidence-based medical support.

RESUMEN

Seven deflagration tests of a propane-air mixture were carried out in a 22.5 m3 large-scale chamber. The effects of initial volume, gas concentration, and initial turbulence intensity on deflagration characteristics were analyzed. The main frequency of the explosion wave was quantitatively determined by the combination of the wavelet transform and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the explosive overpressure is formed by the discharge of combustion products and secondary combustion, and the effects of turbulence and gas concentration on the explosive overpressure are higher than the initial volume. Under the condition of weak initial turbulence, the main frequency of gas explosion wave is between 32.13 and 48.33 Hz. Under strong initial turbulence conditions, the main frequency of the gas explosion wave increases with the increase of overpressure, and the empirical formula of the relationship between the main frequency and overpressure is summarized, which could provide theoretical support for the design of mechanical metamaterials for oil and gas explosion. Finally, the flame acceleration simulator numerical model was calibrated through tests, and the overpressure simulation values were in good agreement with the experimental data. The leakage, diffusion, and explosion of a liquefied hydrocarbon loading station in a petrochemical enterprise were simulated. The lethal distance and explosion overpressure at key buildings are predicted for different wind speed conditions. The simulation results can provide a technical basis for evaluating personnel injury and building damage.

RESUMEN

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a kind of microaerobic and food-borne pathogen. More than 4.4 billion individuals have been infected by H. pylori and H. pylori was listed as Group I carcinogen by WHO in 1994. Considering the high infection rate of H. pylori and the limited medical resources, self-testing is helpful for diagnosis and timely treatment. Although the amount of H. pylori in human saliva is low, the sampling of saliva is simple and convenient compared with stomach, blood and stool samples. Therefore, H. pylori in human saliva can be an indicator for self-testing, and a sensitive and easy-to-use assay is necessary. In this study, we developed a time-resolved fluorescent microsphere-lateral flow immunoassay (TRFM-LFIA) strip assay with image visual analysis for detection of H. pylori in saliva. The detection of the TRFM-LFIA strip was easy to use and had a low dependency on equipment. With optimized preparation and detection parameters, the whole detection process could be finished in 8 min and the LOD by naked eyes was 102 CFU/mL. For quantitative analysis by image visual analysis, the LOD was as low as 1.05 CFU/mL in the linear range of 101-105 CFU/mL. Besides, the TRFM-LFIA strip also had good stability, reliability, repeatability and accuracy. All these advantages indicated that the TRFM-LFIA strips developed in this study had a good potential for self-testing for H. pylori infection.

RESUMEN

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a class I carcinogen causing gastric cancer. Almost 50% of people on earth have been infected and it is worse in developing countries. Early diagnosis of H. pylori infection is the most important strategy for preventing the spread and worse consequences. H. pylori can be isolated from human saliva, and the sampling of saliva is easy and convenient. Therefore, we developed a visual denaturation bubble-mediated strand exchange amplification and RGB visual analysis-based assay for quantitative detection of H. pylori in saliva in this study. Under the optimized reaction temperature and time, the SEA reaction could be finished in 30 min with a simple reaction system and low dependency on equipment. The detection results could be qualitatively identified by the naked eye and quantitatively analyzed by a developed RGB visual analysis method. The limit of detection (LOD) of RGB visual analysis was 10.8 CFU/mL. This assay had good specificity and anti-interference capacity. In the artificial contamination test, the recovery rate of our assay was between 99.3% and 111.5%, with RSD values ranging from 1.7% to 3.5%. These indicated our assay also had good reliability in the detection of saliva. We believe this assay showed good potential for better non-invasive diagnosis of H. pylori infection.

RESUMEN

COVID-19, a new respiratory infectious disease, was first reported at the end of 2019, in Wuhan, China. Now, COVID-19 is still causing major loss of human life and economic productivity in almost all countries around the world. Early detection, early isolation, and early diagnosis of COVID-19 patients and asymptomatic carriers are essential to blocking the spread of the pandemic. This paper briefly reviewed COVID-19 diagnostic assays for clinical application, including nucleic acid tests, immunological methods, and Computed Tomography (CT) imaging. Nucleic acid tests (NAT) target the virus genome and indicates the existence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Currently, real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) is the most widely used NAT and, basically, is the most used diagnostic assay for COVID-19. Besides qPCR, many novel rapid and sensitive NAT assays were also developed. Serological testing (detection of serum antibodies specific to SARS-CoV-2), which belongs to the immunological methods, is also used in the diagnosis of COVID-19. The positive results of serological testing indicate the presence of antibodies specific to SARS-CoV-2 resulting from being infected with the virus. Viral antigen detection assays are also important immunological methods used mainly for rapid virus detection. However, only a few of these assays had been reported. CT imaging is still an important auxiliary diagnosis tool for COVID-19 patients, especially for symptomatic patients in the early stage, whose viral load is low and different to be identified by NAT. These diagnostic techniques are all good in some way and applying a combination of them will greatly improve the accuracy of COVID-19 diagnostics.

RESUMEN

Prostate cancer (PCa), a frequently detected malignant tumor, is the fifth leading global cancer mortality cause in men. Although research has improved the PCa survival rate, significantly reduced survival occurs among patients at the metastatic stage. MiRNAs, which are short non-coding proteins, are crucial for several biological roles, essential for PCa proliferation, differentiation, multiplication, and migration. The investigation aimed to explore miR-145-5p and PLD5 association and clarify their function in regulating proliferation in PCa cell lines. The study used PC-3, LNCaP, DU-145 PCa, and RWPE-1 non-cancerous cell line, PCa, and BPH tissue specimens, and nude mice to validate results. MiR-145-5p and PLD5 manifestation were assessed through RT-qPCR. PLD5 and miR-145 binding was determined through dual-luciferase reporter gene assays. Validation of cell proliferation, migration, and invasion was assessed through MTT, scratch wound, and transwell assays, respectively. The results indicated a downregulation of miR-145-5p level in PCa cell lines and tissues in comparison to the non-cancerous controls. PLD5 overexpression exerted a cancerous effect while mimicking of miR-145-5p reversed the PLD5-oncogenic effects and significantly inhibited PCa cells proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis. In conclusion, the study revealed that miR-145-5p upregulated apoptosis and repressed migration, invasion, and metastasis of PCa via direct PLD5 modulation.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of inserting a retrievable inferior vena cava filter (IVCF) to prevent pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with bone fractures and acute deep venous thrombosis (DVT) before major orthopedic surgery. METHODS: Clinical data of patients with fractures and acute DVT who underwent IVCF insertion were analyzed. The patients were divided into above-knee DVT (AKDVT), popliteal vein thrombosis (PVT), and below-knee DVT (BKDVT) groups. RESULTS: An IVCF was successfully implanted in 964 patients, among whom 929 were followed up (335, 470, and 124 in AKDVT, PVT, and BKDVT groups, respectively). There was no significant difference in the incidence of filter thrombosis among the groups (11.04%, 11.70%, and 8.06%, respectively). No symptomatic PE occurred during follow-up. The mean filter indwelling time was 18.4 ± 4.3 days, and the total filter removal rate was 76.87%. There was no significant difference in the rate of filter implantation, retrieval, complications, or mortality among the groups. CONCLUSIONS: Retrievable filters can effectively prevent PE before orthopedic surgery in patients with fractures and acute DVT of the lower limbs. AKDVT more readily forms a ≥1-cm thrombus in the IVCF than does BKDVT, and PVT more readily forms a <1-cm thrombus than does AKDVT.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The varicose veins of the lower extremities showed earthworm-like dilatation and venous protrusion of the lower extremities. Polidocanol foam sclerotherapy, as a minimally invasive treatment with rapid recovery, less trauma and not easy to relapse, has achieved good results in clinical, but it is lack of evidence-based medicine. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of polidocanol in the treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremities by meta-analysis. METHOD: Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, Chinese Scientifific Journals Database, China Biology Medicine disc, PubMed, EMBASE database, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library will be used as search sources to conduct for randomized controlled trials of polidocanol in the treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities. The search time is set from the establishment of the database in December 2020 in this study. Two researchers independently extract, delete files, extract data and evaluate the quality. Revman software version 5.3 will be used for statistical analysis of data. RESULT: In this study, the efficacy and safety of polidocanol in the treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremities will be evaluated in terms of total effective rate, incidence of complications and recurrence rate. CONCLUSION: This study will provide reliable evidence-based evidence for the clinical application of polidocanol in the treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Private information from individuals will not be published. This systematic review also does not involve endangering participant rights. Ethical approval will not be required. The results may be published in a peer-reviewed journal or disseminated at relevant conferences. OSF REGISTRATION NUMBER: DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/AUR4X.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy as the initial thrombus removal method in the treatment of acute lower extremity ischemia. METHODS: The patients with acute lower limb ischemia who underwent percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy between August 2016 and February 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were diagnosed by clinical examination and computed tomography angiography. The percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy was performed as the initial thrombus removal method, followed by anticoagulation therapy. The patients were followed up by clinical examination, imaging, and ankle brachial index (ABI) examination. RESULTS: Thirty-two patients (21 males, 11 females; average age of 68.53 ± 8.05; three cases of grade III, 29 cases of grade IIB) were reviewed. Recanalization of the thromboembolic occlusions were achieved in all patients. ABI significantly (p < 0.01) increased postoperatively (preoperative ABI: 0.51 ± 0.13; postoperative ABI: 0.85 ± 0.65, ABI at three months postoperatively: 0.84 ± 0.66). Eleven patients underwent balloon dilation and three patients had stent placement. Complete thrombus removal was achieved in all patients. The primary patency at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months postoperatively was 90%, 85%, and 56%, respectively. The secondary patency at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months postoperatively was 93%, 87%, and 65%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The immediate result appeared to be effective to use percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy as the first thrombus removal method in the treatment of acute thromboembolic occlusions in the lower extremity, while the midterm result needs to be further improved.

RESUMEN

For early detection and diagnosis of gastric cancer, a novel, highly sensitive detection of microRNA-378 was developed through rolling circle amplification and DNA-templated silver nanoclusters as a lable-free fluorescent probe. DNA-templated fluorescent silver nanoclusters (DNA/AgNCs) to make target signal cascade amplification were prepared and identified through their fluorescent spectrum. MiRNA-378 trigged rolling circle amplification to obtain the complementary sequence (cDNA) to combine with two DNA/AgNCs in the middle of a sandwich structure to induce the new fluorescent signal at a new wavelength. In the presence of microRNA-378, a large amount of RCA product cDNAs were hybridized with DNA/AgNCs as the fluorescence nanocluster beacon, resulting in fluorescence enhanced "turn-on" phenomenon. This study indicated that amplified fluorescence detection of microRNA-378 is a stable, low-cost, highly specific, and ultra-low as 1.07 fM detectability. The proposed approach of signal synergetic amplification facilitating the fluorescence detection microRNA shows great potential for potentially clinically diagnosis.

RESUMEN

We aim to explore the associations of CCL2 and Snail in gastric cancer to the clinicopathologic features and prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). In our study, the expression of CCL2 and Snail in clinical specimens of 178 GC patients was detected by immunohistochemistry. High expression of CCL2 and Snail were closely related to the clinicopathologic features. The results showed there is a link between CCL2 and Snail expression at protein levels (Pearson Χ2=40.751, P<0.001). The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that CCL2 or Snail expression was correlated with 5-year survival rate (P<0.001, P<0.001, respectively). Univariate analysis showed that CCL2, Snail, pTNM stage, depth of invasion, nodal involvement, metastasis and tumor diameter were significantly associated with 5-year survival rate respectively. Multivariate Cox analysis showed that the CCL2, Snail and nodal involvement were independent prognostic factor for patients with GC. In conclusion, the expression of CCL2 is significantly correlated with Snail expression and may be used as a predictive co-biomarker for patient prognosis and tumor aggressiveness in GC. The exactly mechanism between CCL2 and Snail in the process of EMT in GC need further investigation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Recent studies show that epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) contribute to the progression and poor prognosis of carcinoma through multiple mechanisms. Both inflammation and changing of epithelium have a close relationship with tumorigenesis of gastric cancer. However, the relevance between EMT and TAMs is still unclear in gastric cancer and needs more scientific research. This study is designed to explore the relationship between EMT and TAMs in gastric cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of EMT-related proteins and TAM markers in cancer tissues and normal gastric tissues. RESULTS: High levels of EMT and TAMs infiltration are related to aggressive features and independent prognostic factors in gastric cancer, respectively. In addition, expression of the two indicators is associated with expression of transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1). Infiltration of TAMs is also associated with EMT-related marker in gastric cancer. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that high levels of EMT and TAMs infiltration are related to aggressive features and independent prognostic factors in gastric cancer, respectively. A correlation was found between EMT- and TAM-related indicators, which may be associated with TGF-ß signaling pathway. The level of TAMs infiltration plays an important role in gastric cancer, the markers of which can be used as prognostic indicators.

RESUMEN

The aim of this study was to compare the results of high ligation and stripping of the great saphenous vein (GSV) trunk combined with foam sclerotherapy with conventional surgery for the treatment of superficial venous varicosities of the lower extremity. One hundred and thirty eight patients with primary or secondary superficial venous varicosities of the lower extremity were included. 60 underwent conventional surgery and 78 were treated with high ligation and stripping of the GSV trunk and foam sclerotherapy of GSV branches, spider veins, and reticular veins. Surgical time and amount of bleeding of single limb, recurrence of varicose vein, complications and patients satisfactory were recorded. Compared with the conventional surgery group, the GSV trunk stripping and foam sclerotherapy group had a significantly lower surgical time (P < 0.05), amount of bleeding and duration of hospital stays (P < 0.01). No statistically significant difference with respect to the wound infection, local discomfort, postoperative recurrence rates of varicosity and patients satisfaction score was observed (P > 0.05). GSV trunk stripping and foam sclerotherapy group at a 6 months of follow up had a higher recurrence rate of varicosity as compared to the conventional surgery group (P < 0.05). High ligation and GSV trunk stripping combined with foam sclerotherapy prior to conventional surgery for patients with superficial venous varicosities of the lower extremity with a shorter surgical time, fewer bleeding, duration of hospital stays and higher patients satisfactory scores.

RESUMEN

FoxM1 is a member of the Forkhead box (Fox) family of transcription factors, which is expressed in actively dividing cells and is critical for cell cycle progression. Increased expression of FoxM1 was found in many tumors including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). A more recent study showed FoxM1 is associated with poor prognosis of NSCLC patients through promoting tumor metastasis; elucidated FoxM1 could exert a direct effect on the prognosis of NSCLCs patients. In this review, we summarize the role FoxM1 in lung cancer in the hope of providing insights into the utility of FoxM1 as a novel biomarker of lung cancer.

RESUMEN

Natriuretic peptide receptor A (NPR-A) is the receptor for atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). NPR-A plays critical physiological and pathophysiological roles in several target cell and tissue system processes, such as cell growth, apoptosis, proliferation, and inflammation. Accumulating data demonstrate that NPR-A is involved in immune and inflammatory reactions and is a potential target in inflammation treatment. It is expressed in various cancer cells and is important for tumor growth. A recent study indicated that NPR-A signaling can regulate stem cell recruitment and angiogenesis. This signaling can serve as a model for studying the linkage between inflammation and tumorigenesis. In this review we highlight the mechanisms by which NPR-A affects signaling pathways involved in inflammation and cancer, and we discuss its potential as a novel target in inflammation, cancer, and cancer-related inflammation.

RESUMEN

The molecular mechanism of the interaction between pepsin and two typical ionic liquids (ILs), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C4mim]Cl) and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C8mim]Cl), was investigated with fluorescence spectroscopy, ultraviolet absorption, and circular dichroism spectroscopy at a pH value of 1.6. The results suggest that ILs could quench the intrinsic fluorescence of pepsin, probably via a dynamic quenching mechanism. The fluorescence quenching constants were determined by employing the classic Stern-Volmer equation. The constant values are very small, indicating that only a very weak interaction between ILs and pepsin exists. The Gibbs free-energy change, enthalpy change (ΔH), and entropy change (ΔS) during the interaction of pepsin and ILs were estimated. Positive values of ΔH and ΔS indicate that the interaction between ILs and pepsin is mainly driven by hydrophobic interaction. Synchronous and three-dimensional fluorescence spectra demonstrate that the addition of ILs (0-0.20 mol L(-1) for each IL) does not bring apparent changes to the microenvironments of tyrosine and tryptophan residues. Activity experiments show that the activity of pepsin is concentration dependent; higher concentrations of ILs (>0.22 mol L(-1) for [C8mim]Cl and >0.30 mol L(-1) for [C4mim]Cl) cause the remarkable reduction of enzyme activity. The presence of ILs also does not improve the thermal stability of pepsin.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To observe X-ray features of before and after treatment of cervical imbalance syndrome with osteopathy and traction intervention in youth patients, then to investigate the clinical effect of the treatment of the cervical imbalances syndrome in youth by osteopathy. METHODS: From September 2007 to December 2010, one hundred and eighty-seven students of 19 to 22 years (means 21 years) with neck pain as the main symptom in Beijing university of Chinese medicine were selected and divide them into osteopathy group and traction groups randomly. In osteopathy group, there were 94 patients including 40 males and 54 females; in traction group, there were 93 patients including 42 males and 51 females. The treatment of osteopathy group lasted for 3 weeks, three times per week; traction group by traction treatment three weeks, three times a week, too. X-ray before treatment and 3 weeks after treatment were collected. RESULTS: The osteopathy group:94 cases, before treatment, abnormal curvature in 57 cases, spinous position change in 45 cases and angular displacement in 44 cases, vertebral sliding in 15 cases, Ruth Jackson line intersect proneness change in 70 cases, stretch change in 47 cases; after treatment, abnormal curvature in 35 cases, spinous position change in 24 cases and angular displacement in 18 cases, vertebral sliding in 3 cases, Ruth Jackson line intersect proneness change in 41 cases, extension change in 33 cases; X-Ray measurement results: cervical curvature improved from (7.070 +/- 4.629) degrees before treatment to (7.660 +/- 4.156) degrees after treatment, angular displacement improved from (13.790 +/- 2.590) degrees before treatment to (11.050 +/- 2.560) degrees after treatment; vertebral sliding improved from (3.770 +/- 0.350) mm before treatment to (3.160 +/- 0.485) mm after treatment. The change of angular displacement and vertebral sliding were so significant before and after treatment in this group, there were statistical defferences between before and after the treatment (P < 0.01) in osteopathy group. The traction group: 93 cases, before treatment, abnormal curvature in 60 cases, spinous position change in 39 cases and angular displacement in 39 cases, vertebral sliding in 15 cases, Ruth Jackson line intersect proneness change in 70 cases, stretch in 47 cases; after treatment, abnormal curvature in 50 cases, spinous position change in 29 cases and angular displacement in 17 cases; vertebral sliding in 3 cases, Ruth Jackson line intersect proneness change in 41 cases, stretch in 33 cases; X-Ray measurement results: cervical curvature improved from (5.590 +/- 4.639) degrees before treatment to (5.990 +/- 4.330) degrees after treatment, angular displacement improved from (13.360 +/- 2.064) degrees before treatment to (11.210 +/- 1.872) degrees after treatment; vertebral sliding improved from (3.790 +/- 0.339) mm before treatment to (3.480 +/- 0.332) mm after treatment. The change of angular displacement and vertebral sliding were also so significant in traction group before and after treatment, there were statistical defferences between before and after the treatment (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: (1) Pathological changes can be called youth cervical imbalance syndrome. (2) Stress points, angular displacement, cervical vertebral slip, curvature straightened, spinous position change are main X-ray performances. (3) Both osteopathy and traction intervention on are efficient in youth neck pain. (4) Youths cervical vertebra imbalance is early but reversible performance.

RESUMEN

The interaction of an amino-functionalized ionic liquid, 1-(2-aminoethyl)-3-butylimidazolium bromide ([NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br) with two enzymes, pepsin and papain was investigated using fluorescence spectroscopic technique. It is found that [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br has strong ability to quench the intrinsic fluorescence of pepsin and papain. Quenching mechanisms are considered as static quenching for papain and dynamic quenching for pepsin, respectively. The binding constants and the number of binding sites (n) of [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br to papain were calculated at different temperatures. The thermodynamic parameters such as free energy change (ΔG), enthalpy change (ΔH) and entropy change (ΔS), were calculated by thermodynamic equations. The values of ΔG, ΔH and ΔS suggest that interaction of [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br with the two enzymes is spontaneous. Hydrogen bonding and van der Waals interactions play important roles in the binding process of [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br to papain. However, hydrophobic interaction is the main driving force for the interaction of [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br with pepsin. The results of three-dimensional fluorescence spectra show that [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br has no obvious effects on the polypeptide structures of the two enzymes. Additionally, the [NH(2)C(2)C(4)im]Br-containing system can slightly increase the activities of the two enzymes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To perform Multiple Linear Regression analysis of X-ray measurement and WOMAC scores of knee osteoarthritis, and to analyze their relationship with clinical and biomechanical concepts. METHODS: From March 2011 to July 2011, 140 patients (250 knees) were reviewed, including 132 knees in the left and 118 knees in the right; ranging in age from 40 to 71 years, with an average of 54.68 years. The MB-RULER measurement software was applied to measure femoral angle, tibial angle, femorotibial angle, joint gap angle from antero-posterir and lateral position of X-rays. The WOMAC scores were also collected. Then multiple regression equations was applied for the linear regression analysis of correlation between the X-ray measurement and WOMAC scores. RESULTS: There was statistical significance in the regression equation of AP X-rays value and WOMAC scores (P<0.05), while there was no statistical significance in the regression equation of lateral X-ray value and WOMAC scores (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: 1) X-ray measurement of knee joint can reflect the WOMAC scores to a certain extent. 2) It is necessary to measure the X-ray mechanical axis of knee, which is important for diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis. 3) The correlation between tibial angle, joint gap angle on antero-posterior X-ray and WOMAC scores is significant, which can be used to assess the functional recovery of patients before and after treatment.
