RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: G protein-coupled receptors play a critical role in atrial fibrillation (AF). Spexin is a novel ligand of galanin receptors (GALRs). In this study, we investigated the regulation of spexin and GALRs on AF and the underlying mechanisms. METHODS: Global spexin knockout (SPX-KO) and cardiomyocyte-specific GALRs knockout (GALR-cKO) mice underwent burst pacing electrical stimulation. Optical mapping was used to determine atrial conduction velocity and action potential duration. Atrial myocyte action potential duration and inward rectifying K+ current (IK1) were recorded using whole-cell patch clamps. Isolated cardiomyocytes were stained with Fluo-3/AM dye, and intracellular Ca2+ handling was examined by CCD camera. A mouse model of AF was established by Ang-II (angiotensin II) infusion. RESULTS: Spexin plasma levels in patients with AF were lower than those in subjects without AF, and knockout of spexin increased AF susceptibility in mice. In the atrium of SPX-KO mice, potassium inwardly rectifying channel subfamily J member 2 (KCNJ2) and sarcolipin (SLN) were upregulated; meanwhile, IK1 current was increased and Ca2+ handling was impaired in isolated atrial myocytes of SPX-KO mice. GALR2-cKO mice, but not GALR1-cKO and GALR3-cKO mice, had a higher incidence of AF, which was associated with higher IK1 current and intracellular Ca2+ overload. The phosphorylation level of CREB (cyclic AMP responsive element binding protein 1) was upregulated in atrial tissues of SPX-KO and GALR2-cKO mice. Chromatin immunoprecipitation confirmed the recruitment of p-CREB to the proximal promoter regions of KCNJ2 and SLN. Finally, spexin treatment suppressed CREB signaling, decreased IK1 current and intracellular Ca2+ overload, which thus reduced the inducibility of AF in Ang-II-infused mice. CONCLUSIONS: Spexin reduces atrial fibrillation susceptibility by inhibiting CREB phosphorylation and thus downregulating KCNJ2 and SLN transcription by GALR2 receptor. The spexin/GALR2/CREB signaling pathway represents a novel therapeutic avenue in the development of agents against atrial fibrillation.

RESUMEN

Background: BOPPPS (bridge-in, learning objective, pretest, participatory learning, posttest, and summary) is a student-centered, closed-loop teaching model that emphasizes real-time communication and feedback. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to review and evaluate the effect of BOPPPS teaching model in "Fundamentals of Nursing" teaching. Methods: We conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) based on the BOPPPS teaching model in "Fundamentals of Nursing" teaching. To review domestic and foreign databases for the period 2010 to September 2023. Finally, 13 RCTs were included and the teaching outcomes were measured and analyzed. Two researchers independently identified, selected, and extracted data from the study and examined the risk of bias. The primary outcomes were students' examination scores (theoretical scores: scores obtained in the nursing fundamentals course, reflecting students' understanding and mastery of the course content; practical scores: assessment results based on practical application or experimental skills, evaluating students' practical skill level). The secondary outcomes were self-learning ability score: indicators assessing students' self-directed learning ability, reflecting their competence in independent learning and autonomous exploration; and satisfaction rate of teaching effect: the overall satisfaction rate of students with the teaching effects experienced during teaching process reflects the proportion of students' acceptance and satisfaction with the teaching program. The results were evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) profiler software. The GRADE profiler software is used to assess and grade the recommendations according to the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Assessment) criteria. Results: A total of 13 studies were included, consisting of 2,991 nursing students. Among them, 1,465 students were in the BOPPPS teaching group, while 1,526 students were in the traditional teaching group. The summary analysis of the main outcomes showed that the BOPPPS teaching model had significantly higher scores in theoretical score (MD = 3.35, 95% CI: 2.35-4.35, Z = 6.56, p < 0.00001), practice score (MD = 4.50, 95% CI: 1.95-7.05, Z = 3.45, p = 0.0006), and self-learning ability score (MD = 6.76, 95% CI: 5.38-8.14, Z = 9.60, p < 0.00001) compared to the traditional teaching group. The satisfaction rate of students in the BOPPPS teaching group regarding teaching effectiveness was 89% (95% CI = 0.84-0.93). The differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05). The GRADE evidence level for theoretical score and satisfaction rate of teaching effect is low. The evidence level for practice score is very low, and for self-learning ability score is moderate. Conclusion: The BOPPPS teaching mode is helpful to improve the theoretical score, practice score, and self-learning ability score of "Fundamentals of Nursing," and improve the satisfaction rate of students to the teaching effect. The teaching effect is better than the traditional teaching method.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Soybean (Glycine max), a vital grain and oilseed crop, serves as a primary source of plant protein and oil. Soil salinization poses a significant threat to soybean planting, highlighting the urgency to improve soybean resilience and adaptability to saline stress. Melatonin, recently identified as a key plant growth regulator, plays crucial roles in plant growth, development, and responses to environmental stress. However, the potential of melatonin to mitigate alkali stress in soybeans and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. RESULTS: This study investigated the effects of exogenous melatonin on the soybean cultivar Zhonghuang 13 under alkaline stress. We employed physiological, biochemical, transcriptomic, and metabolomic analyses throughout both vegetative and pod-filling growth stages. Our findings demonstrate that melatonin significantly counteracts the detrimental effects of alkaline stress on soybean plants, promoting plant growth, photosynthesis, and antioxidant capacity. Transcriptomic analysis during both growth stages under alkaline stress, with and without melatonin treatment, identified 2,834 and 549 differentially expressed genes, respectively. These genes may play a vital role in regulating plant adaptation to abiotic stress. Notably, analysis of phytohormone biosynthesis pathways revealed altered expression of key genes, particularly in the ARF (auxin response factor), AUX/IAA (auxin/indole-3-acetic acid), and GH3 (Gretchen Hagen 3) families, during the early stress response. Metabolomic analysis during the pod-filling stage identified highly expressed metabolites responding to melatonin application, such as uteolin-7-O-(2''-O-rhamnosyl)rutinoside and Hederagenin-3-O-glucuronide-28-O-glucosyl(1,2)glucoside, which helped alleviate the damage caused by alkali stress. Furthermore, we identified 183 differentially expressed transcription factors, potentially playing a critical role in regulating plant adaptation to abiotic stress. Among these, the gene SoyZH13_04G073701 is particularly noteworthy as it regulates the key differentially expressed metabolite, the terpene metabolite Hederagenin-3-O-glucuronide-28-O-glucosyl(1,2)glucoside. WGCNA analysis identified this gene (SoyZH13_04G073701) as a hub gene, positively regulating the crucial differentially expressed metabolite of terpenoids, Hederagenin-3-O-glucuronide-28-O-glucosyl(1,2)glucoside. Our findings provide novel insights into how exogenous melatonin alleviates alkali stress in soybeans at different reproductive stages. CONCLUSIONS: Integrating transcriptomic and metabolomic approaches, our study elucidates the mechanisms by which exogenous melatonin ameliorates the inhibitory effects of alkaline stress on soybean growth and development. This occurs through modulation of biosynthesis pathways for key compounds, including terpenes, flavonoids, and phenolics. Our findings provide initial mechanistic insights into how melatonin mitigates alkaline stress in soybeans, offering a foundation for molecular breeding strategies to enhance salt-alkali tolerance in this crop.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Chronic enteropathy associated with SLCO2A1 gene is a rare intestinal disease caused by loss-of-function SLCO2A1 mutations, with clinical and genetic characteristics remaining largely unknown, especially in Chinese patients. This study aims to reveal clinical and genetic features of Chinese CEAS patients, highlighting the previously unreported or unemphasized characteristics. METHODS: We enrolled 12 Chinese patients with chronic enteropathy associated with SLCO2A1 gene admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022. Clinical and genetic data of these patients were collected and analyzed. RESULTS: 58.3% of patients were male, who also had primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy, whereas female patients did not have primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy. Apart from common symptoms associated with anemia and hypoalbuminemia, abdominal pain, ileus, diarrhea, and hematochezia were present. 4 of the 5 female patients had early-onset amenorrhea, though the causal relationship remained to be clarified. Endoscopy and computed tomography enterography revealed that lesions can occur in any part of the digestive tract, most commonly in the ileum. Pathology showed multiple superficial ulcers with adjacent vascular dilatation, and loss of SLCO2A1 expression, particularly in gastrointestinal vascular endothelial cells. Genetic analysis confirmed SLCO2A1 mutations in all patients and identified 11 new SLCO2A1 variants for CEAS. CONCLUSIONS: This study reports new clinical, pathological, and genetic findings in 12 Chinese patients with chronic enteropathy associated with SLCO2A1 gene. This study provides insights into the pathogenesis of this disease. However, studies with larger sample sizes and more in-depth mechanism research are still required.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: The translocation of intestinal flora has been linked to the colonization of diverse and heavy lower respiratory flora in patients with septic ARDS, and is considered a critical prognostic factor for patients. METHODS: On the first and third days of ICU admission, BALF, throat swab, and anal swab were collected, resulting in a total of 288 samples. These samples were analyzed using 16S rRNA analysis and the traceability analysis of new generation technology. RESULTS: On the first day, among the top five microbiota species in abundance, four species were found to be identical in BALF and throat samples. Similarly, on the third day, three microbiota species were found to be identical in abundance in both BALF and throat samples. On the first day, 85.16% of microorganisms originated from the throat, 5.79% from the intestines, and 9.05% were unknown. On the third day, 83.52% of microorganisms came from the throat, 4.67% from the intestines, and 11.81% were unknown. Additionally, when regrouping the 46 patients, the results revealed a significant predominance of throat microorganisms in BALF on both the first and third day. Furthermore, as the disease progressed, the proportion of intestinal flora in BALF increased in patients with enterogenic ARDS. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with septic ARDS, the main source of lung microbiota is primarily from the throat. Furthermore, the dynamic trend of the microbiota on the first and third day is essentially consistent. It is important to note that the origin of the intestinal flora does not exclude the possibility of its origin from the throat.

RESUMEN

Coronary artery perforation (CAP) poses a significant challenge for interventional cardiologists. Management of CAP depends on the location and severity of the perforation. The conventional method for addressing the perforation of large vessels involves the placement of a covered stent, while the perforation of distal and collateral vessels is typically managed using coils, autologous skin, subcutaneous fat, microspheres, gelatin sponge, thrombin or other substances. However, the above techniques have certain limitations and are not applicable in all scenarios. Our team has developed a range of innovative strategies for effectively managing CAP. This article provides an insightful review of the various tips and tricks for the treatment of CAP.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Verticillium wilt, caused by the fungus Verticillium dahliae, is a soil-borne vascular fungal disease, which has caused great losses to cotton yield and quality worldwide. The strain KRS010 was isolated from the seed of Verticillium wilt-resistant Gossypium hirsutum cultivar "Zhongzhimian No. 2." RESULTS: The strain KRS010 has a broad-spectrum antifungal activity to various pathogenic fungi as Verticillium dahliae, Botrytis cinerea, Fusarium spp., Colletotrichum spp., and Magnaporthe oryzae, of which the inhibition rate of V. dahliae mycelial growth was 73.97% and 84.39% respectively through confrontation test and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) treatments. The strain was identified as Bacillus altitudinis by phylogenetic analysis based on complete genome sequences, and the strain physio-biochemical characteristics were detected, including growth-promoting ability and active enzymes. Moreover, the control efficiency of KRS010 against Verticillium wilt of cotton was 93.59%. After treatment with KRS010 culture, the biomass of V. dahliae was reduced. The biomass of V. dahliae in the control group (Vd991 alone) was 30.76-folds higher than that in the treatment group (KRS010+Vd991). From a molecular biological aspect, KRS010 could trigger plant immunity by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) activated by salicylic acid (SA) and jasmonic acid (JA) signaling pathways. Its extracellular metabolites and VOCs inhibited the melanin biosynthesis of V. dahliae. In addition, KRS010 had been characterized as the ability to promote plant growth. CONCLUSIONS: This study indicated that B. altitudinis KRS010 is a beneficial microbe with a potential for controlling Verticillium wilt of cotton, as well as promoting plant growth.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Due to the lack of early symptoms, breast cancer is frequently overlooked, leading to distant metastases and multi-organ lesions that directly threaten patients' lives. We have identified a novel tumor marker, antibodies to endophilin A2 (EA2), to improve early diagnosis of breast cancer. METHODS: Antibody levels of EA2 were analyzed in sera of patients with cancers of different origins and stages by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Diagnostic accuracy and reference range were determined by the area under the receiver operating curve and distribution curve. The levels of EA2 antigen in sera were determined by sandwich ELISA. RESULTS: The levels of antibodies against EA2 were higher in sera of patients with breast cancer (P < 0.0001), liver cancer (P = 0.0005), gastric cancer (P = 0.0026), and colon cancer (P = 0.0349) than those in healthy controls, but not in patients with rectal cancer (P = 0.1151), leukemia (P = 0.7508), or lung cancer (P = 0.2247). The highest diagnostic value was for breast cancer, particularly in early cases (AUC = 0.8014) and those with distant metastases (AUC = 0.7885). The titers of EA2 antibodies in sera were correlated with levels of EA2 antigen in breast cancer patients. CONCLUSION: Antibodies to EA2 are novel blood biomarkers for early diagnosis of breast cancer that warrants further study in larger-scale cohort studies.

RESUMEN

Chronic enteropathy associated with the SLCO2A1 gene (CEAS) is a complex gastroenterological condition characterized by multiple ulcers in the small intestine with chronic bleeding and protein loss. This review explores the potential mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of CEAS, focusing on the role of SLCO2A1-encoded prostaglandin transporter OATP2A1 and its impact on prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) levels. Studies have suggested that elevated PGE2 levels contribute to mucosal damage, inflammation, and disruption of the intestinal barrier. The effects of PGE2 on macrophage activation and Maxi-Cl channel functionality, as well as its interaction with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs play crucial roles in the progression of CEAS. Understanding the balance between its protective and pro-inflammatory effects and the complex interactions within the gastrointestinal tract can shed light on potential therapeutic targets for CEAS and guide the development of novel, targeted therapies.

RESUMEN

Purpose: Platinum-based chemotherapy is effective but limited by resistance in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) can reveal tumour cell heterogeneity and subclonal differentiation. We aimed to analyze resistance mechanisms and potential targets in HGSOC using scRNA-seq. Methods: We performed 10× genomics scRNA-seq sequencing on tumour tissues from 3 platinum-sensitive and 3 platinum-resistant HGSOC patients. We analyzed cell subcluster communication networks and spatial distribution using cellchat. We performed RNA-seq analysis on TACSTD2, a representative resistance gene in the E0 subcluster, to explore its molecular mechanism. Results: Epithelial cells, characterized by distinct chemotherapy resistance traits and highest gene copy number variations, revealed a specific cisplatin-resistant cluster (E0) associated with poor prognosis. E0 exhibited malignant features related to resistance, fostering growth through communication with fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Spatially, E0 promoted fibroblasts to protect tumour cells and impede immune cells infiltration. Furthermore, TACSTD2 was identified as a representative gene of the E0 subcluster, elucidating its role in platinum resistance through the Rap1/PI3K/AKT pathway. Conclusions: Our study reveals a platinum-resistant epithelial cell subcluster E0 and its association with TACSTD2 in HGSOC, uncovers new insights and evidence for the platinum resistance mechanism, and provides new ideas and targets for the development of therapeutic strategies against TACSTD2+ epithelial cancer cells.

RESUMEN

AIMS: Asprosin, a newly discovered hormone, is linked to insulin resistance. This study shows the roles of asprosin in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) proliferation, migration, oxidative stress and neointima formation of vascular injury. METHODS: Mouse aortic VSMCs were cultured, and platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB) was used to induce oxidative stress, proliferation and migration in VSMCs. Vascular injury was induced by repeatedly moving a guidewire in the lumen of carotid artery in mice. RESULTS: Asprosin overexpression promoted VSMC oxidative stress, proliferation and migration, which were attenuated by toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) knockdown, antioxidant NAC, NOX1 inhibitor ML171 or NOX2 inhibitor GSK2795039. Asprosin overexpression increased NOX1/2 expressions, while asprosin knockdown increased heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and NADPH quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO-1) expressions. Asprosin inhibited Nrf2 nuclear translocation. Nrf2 activator sulforaphane increased HO-1 and NQO-1 expressions, and prevented asprosin-induced NOX1/2 upregulation, oxidative stress, proliferation and migration. Exogenous asprosin protein had similar roles to asprosin overexpression. PDGF-BB increased asprosin expressions. PDGF-BB-induced oxidative stress, proliferation and migration were enhanced by Nrf2 inhibitor ML385, but attenuated by asprosin knockdown. Vascular injury increased asprosin expression. Local asprosin knockdown in the injured carotid artery promoted HO-1 and NQO-1 expressions, but attenuated the NOX1 and NOX2 upregulation, oxidative stress, neointima formation and vascular remodeling in mice. INNOVATION AND CONCLUSION: Asprosin promotes oxidative stress, proliferation and migration of VSMCs via TLR4-Nrf2-mediated redox imbalance. Inhibition of asprosin expression attenuates VSMC proliferation and migration, oxidative stress and neointima formation in the injured artery. Asprosin might be a promising therapeutic target for vascular injury.

RESUMEN

Ferritin, a vital protein required to store iron in a cage-like structure, is critical for maintaining iron balance. Ferritin can be attacked by free radicals during iron reduction and release, thereby leading to oxidative damage. Whether other biomacromolecules such as casein phosphopeptides (CPP) could influence the ferritin's function in iron oxidation and release and affect the ferritin stability remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the effect of CPP on the ferritiniron ion interaction, thereby focusing on role of CPP on ferritin stability. Results showed that CPP weakened the iron oxidation activity of ferritin but promoted iron release. Moreover, CPP could effectively chelate iron, capture hydroxyl radicals, and reduce the degradation of ferritin. This study highlights the role of CPP in the ferritiniron relationship, and lays a foundation for understanding the interaction between ferritin, peptides, and metal ions.

RESUMEN

Syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection caused by Treponema pallidum, has been experiencing a rise in prevalence in recent years. "Syphilis serofast" describes a unique serological reaction in patients with syphilis whose clinical symptoms have resolved following consistent anti-syphilitic therapy, but the non-Treponema pallidum antigen serologic test is still positive. Syphilis serofast is a risk factor for syphilis recurrence, neurosyphilis, and multisystem involvement. Considering the current lack of comprehensive knowledge about the epidemiological characteristics, pathogenesis, and therapies of syphilis serofast, we conducted an online search of research relating to syphilis serofast over the last twenty years. Previous research has shown that the pathogenesis of syphilis serofast is mainly related to clinical factors, immune factors, syphilis subtypes, and T.pallidum membrane protein repeat gene antigen. There are two distinct viewpoints on the treatment of serofast: no excessive treatment and active treatment. In addition, serofast patients also showed two clinical outcomes: syphilis recurrence and persistent serofast status. This article systematically reviews the related factors, treatment, and clinical outcomes of syphilis serofast, provides a theoretical basis for its research, diagnosis, and treatment, and helps clinicians develop a follow-up treatment management plan for syphilis serofast.

RESUMEN

Predicting, issuing early warnings, and assessing risks associated with unnatural epidemics (UEs) present significant challenges. These tasks also represent key areas of focus within the field of prevention and control research for UEs. A scoping review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Embase, from inception to 31 December 2023. Sixty-six studies met the inclusion criteria. Two types of models (data-driven and mechanistic-based models) and a class of analysis tools for risk assessment of UEs were identified. The validation part of models involved calibration, improvement, and comparison. Three surveillance systems (event-based, indicator-based, and hybrid) were reported for monitoring UEs. In the current study, mathematical models and analysis tools suggest a distinction between natural epidemics and UEs in selecting model parameters and warning thresholds. Future research should consider combining a mechanistic-based model with a data-driven model and learning to pursue time-varying, high-precision risk assessment capabilities.

RESUMEN

Novel metal-organic framework MIL-101(Cr)-NH2 functionalised hydrophilic polydopamine-modified Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@PDA@MIL-101(Cr)-NH2) were synthesised and used as magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) adsorbents for extracting tetracyclines (TCs) from milk samples. The integrated Fe3O4@PDA@MIL-101(Cr)-NH2 exhibited convenient magnetic separation and exceptional multi-target binding capabilities. Furthermore, the PDA coating significantly enhanced the hydrophilicity and extraction efficiency of the material, thereby facilitating the extraction of trace TCs. Various factors affecting MSPE, such as adsorbent dosage, extraction time, pH value, and desorption conditions, were optimised. The developed MSPE method coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography demonstrated good linearity (R2 ≥ 0.9989), acceptable accuracy (82.2%-106.1%), good repeatability (intra-day precision of 0.8%-4.7% and inter-day precision of 1.1%-4.5%), low limits of detection (2.18-6.25 µg L-1), and low limits of quantification (6.54-18.75 µg L-1) in TCs detection. The approach was successfully used for the quantification of trace TCs in real milk samples.

RESUMEN

There is considerable interest in quantifying anti-PEG antibodies, given their potential involvement in accelerated clearance, complement activation, neutralization, and acute reactions associated with drug delivery systems. Published and commercially available anti-PEG enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) differ significantly in terms of reagents and conditions, which could be confusing to users who want to perform in-house measurements. Here, we optimize the ELISA protocol for specific detection of anti-PEG IgG and IgM in sera from healthy donors and in plasma from cancer patients administered with PEGylated liposomal doxorubicin. The criterion of specificity is the ability of free PEG or PEGylated liposomes to inhibit the ELISA signals. We found that coating high-binding plates with monoamine methoxy-PEG5000, as opposed to bovine serum albumin-PEG20000, and blocking with 1% milk, as opposed to albumin or lysozyme, significantly improve the specificity, with over 95% of the signal being blocked by competition. Despite inherent between-assay variability, setting the cutoff value of the optical density at the 80th percentile consistently identified the same subjects. Using the optimized assay, we longitudinally measured levels of anti-PEG IgG/IgM in cancer patients before and after the PEGylated liposomal doxorubicin chemotherapy cycle (1 month apart, three cycles total). Antibody titers did not show any increase but rather a decrease between treatment cycles, and up to 90% of antibodies was bound to the infused drug. This report is a step toward harmonizing anti-PEG assays in human subjects, emphasizing the cost-effectiveness and optimized specificity.

RESUMEN

Magnetic flux leakage (MFL) technology is remarkable for its capability to detect pipeline geometric deformation and general corrosion defects. However, it cannot characterize the MFL behavior in stress-concentrated areas, thereby greatly challenging the subsequent pipeline maintenance. This study suggests that the MFL characteristics of pipeline in stress-concentrated areas are caused by the combined effect of the face magnetic charge on the deformed end-face and the body magnetic charge of the dislocation stack. In addition, an improved force-magnetic coupling model of the pipeline in stress-concentrated areas is established based on the magnetic dipole model and Jiles-Atherton (J-A) theory. In the verification experiment, the Q235 steel plate is magnetized along the extension direction (axis of the pipeline) through the solenoid coil to obtain the distribution law of the MFL signal in the stress-concentrated area under different excitation intensities. The results show that with the increase in excitation intensity, the deformation of the MFL field signal caused by the end-face of the stress-concentrated area gradually increases to a stable state. Moreover, the internal stress of the MFL field signal generated by the pipe dislocation rapidly increases to a peak value and then decays exponentially to a certain base value. The overall change trend is in good agreement with the calculation results of the established force-magnetic coupling model. Meanwhile, the differentiation research between deformation and internal stress MFL field signals under different magnetic field intensities can provide a reliable theoretical basis for the subsequent accurate identification and quantification of pipeline stress-concentrated areas.

RESUMEN

Over the last 20 years, the numbers, types, distribution, and qualifications of mental health professionals in China have changed dramatically. However, there has been no systematic attempt to collect information about this transformation in the human resources available to provide mental health services-information that needs to be regularly updated to improve the country's coordination of these services. This scoping review compiles current details about China's mental health workforce and identifies critical gaps in available research and reporting. We reviewed all relevant studies and reports published between 1 January 2000 and 30 June 2021 in two English-language and four Chinese-language databases, the website of China's National Health Commission, and national and provincial health services yearbooks. In addition to summarising data from government yearbooks, we integrated relevant results from 82 peer-reviewed publications and two government reports. From 2000 to 2020, the number of psychiatrists in the country increased by 139%, and the number of psychiatric nurses increased by 340%. However, the much higher ratio of mental health professionals per 100,000 population and the better quality of training of mental health professionals in urban, eastern provinces compared to rural, western provinces has not changed. Progress has been made in standardising the training of psychiatrists, but there are no standardised training programs for psychiatric nurses, clinical psychologists, or psychiatric social workers. Future research needs to address several issues that limit the effectiveness of policies aimed at increasing the size, quality and equitable distribution of China's mental health workforce: 1) limited data available about the numbers and characteristics of professionals who provide mental health services, 2) absence of nationally standardised training programs for non-psychiatric medical professionals and non-medical personnel who provide essential monitoring and supportive care to persons with mental illnesses, and 3) failure to scientifically assess the outcomes of currently available training programs.

RESUMEN

The physicochemical properties of anhydrous milk fats (AMF) often change according to different regions and seasons, inevitably affecting dry fractionation. This study analyzed the differences in the fraction yields and physicochemical characteristics of four AMFs from different sources. The results showed that single-stage dry fractionation conducted at 25 °C easily separated AMFs into liquid fractions (L25) and solid fractions (S25) via pressure filtration, both producing satisfactory yields. Moreover, all L25s exhibited few crystals with good fluidity at 25 °C, while S25s presented as semi-solids supported by ß crystal networks with a certain hardness and plasticity. However, four AMFs displayed fractionation efficiency variation, while the thermal differences among them showed no obvious correlation with those among their fractions. Generally, more trisaturated triglycerides with 48 to 54 carbon atoms in the AMF increased the S25 yield and decreased the slip melting points (SMP) of both fractions.
