RESUMEN

Lignin has many potential applications and is a biopolymer with a three-dimensional network structure. It is composed of three phenylpropane units, p-hydroxyphenyl, guaiacyl, and syringyl, connected by ether bonds and carbon-carbon bonds, and it contains a large number of phenol or aldehyde structural units, resulting in complex lignin structures. This limits the application of lignin. To expand the application range of lignin, we prepared lignin thermoplastic phenolic resins (LPRs) by using lignin instead of phenol; these LPRs had molecular weights of up to 1917 g/mol, a molecular weight distribution of 1.451, and an O/P value of up to 2.73. Due to the complex structure of the lignin, the synthetic lignin thermoplastic phenolic resins were not very tough, which greatly affected the performance of the material. If the lignin phenolic resins were toughened, their application range would be substantially expanded. Polybutylene succinate (PBS) has excellent processability and excellent mechanical properties. The toughening effects of different PBS contents in the LPRs were investigated. PBS was found to be compatible with the LPRs, and the flexible chain segments of the small PBS molecules were embedded in the molecular chain segments of the LPRs, thus reducing the crystallinities of the LPRs. The good compatibility between the two materials promoted hydrogen bond formation between the PBS and LPRs. Rheological data showed good interfacial bonding between the materials, and the modulus of the high-melting PBS made the LPRs more damage resistant. When PBS was added at 30%, the tensile strength of the LPRs was increased by 2.8 times to 1.65 MPa, and the elongation at break increased by 31 times to 93%. This work demonstrates the potential of lignin thermoplastic phenolic resins for industrial applications and provides novel concepts for toughening biobased aromatic resins with PBS.

RESUMEN

3D object detection is an important module for autonomous driving. A LiDAR camera optical system is suitable for accurate object detection, for it provides both 3D structure and 2D texture features. However, as LiDAR and a camera have different sensor properties, it is challenging to generate effective fusion features. Motivated by this, we propose, to the best of our knowledge, a novel LiDAR-camera based 3D object detection method. First, proposal selection is presented to utilize accurate 2D proposals predicted from RGB images to improve the quality of 3D proposals. It contains a (i) proposal addition and (ii) proposal filter. To increase the recall rate, the proposal addition generates extra 3D proposals via back-projecting 2D proposals on LiDAR depth. The proposal filter removes unrelated 3D proposals by matching 2D proposals with intersection-over-union thresholds. Then, considering the LiDAR mechanism, grid attention pooling is employed to estimate weights of grid points from LiDAR and image features to generate salient pooling features. Comparisons and ablation studies demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better performance and benefits the advanced application of a LiDAR camera system.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is intractable infertility and can be ameliorated with the use of traditional Chinese medicine preparation, the Wenjing decoction. This study aimed to identify the therapeutic mechanism of Wenjing decoction on specific target proteins involved in RSA. METHODS: Wenjing decoction contains Wuzhuyu, Danggui, Chuanxiong, Guizhi, Shengjiang, Banxia, Gancao, Ejiao, Mudanpi, Chishao, Dangshen, and Maidong. Using TCMSP and BATMAN databases, we queried for active ingredients and predicted their target proteins by BATMAN. Using the edgeR package, we analyzed the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the GSE121950 database between control samples and RSA (n = 3). The interaction between DEGs and the predicted target proteins was identified by the Venn diagram. Using the Cytoscape software and clusterProfiler package, enrichment analysis was conducted for the intersected target proteins. Additionally, the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and pharmacological network were generated using the Cytoscape software. RESULTS: In total, 31, 2, 7, 7, 5, 13, 93, 11, 29, and 21 active ingredients were identified from Wuzhuyu, Danggui, Chuanxiong, Guizhi, Shengjiang, Banxia, Gancao, Mudanpi, Chishao, and Dangshen, respectively. Additionally, 100 intersected target proteins were revealed by the Venn diagram. Moreover, 98 functional terms and 24 pathways (including C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway, chemokine signaling pathway, leukocyte transendothelial migration, fluid shear stress, and atherosclerosis, and AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications) were enriched. In the PPI network, 10 proteins involved in these five pathways were identified, namely, TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor-α), IL-10 (interleukin-10), TLR4 (Toll-like receptor 4), JUN (Jun proto-oncogene), IL-1B (interleukin-1-beta), CYBB (cytochrome b558 heavy chain gene), PTGS2 (prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2), APOE (apolipoprotein E), SPI1 (salmonella pathogenicity island 1), and MPO (myeloperoxidase) which showed higher degrees. CONCLUSION: The abovementioned genes and pathways might be involved in the pharmacological activity of Wenjing decoction in RSA.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To explore the chaotic dynamic process of multiple organs dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and the regulatory effect of Shenqin Liquid (SQL), a Chinese herbal liquid preparation with the action of purging and qi-tonifying. METHODS: Eighty SD rats were divided into 4 groups, and were given suspension of zymosan A and paraffine (1 mL/kg) by peritoneal injection except for those in the blank control group to set up the multiple organs dysfunction syndrome (MODS) model. Low and high doses SQL were administered twice at the doses of 30 and 60 g/kg of SQL respectively at an interval of 8 h per day before modeling. Serum concentration of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and nitric oxide (NO) in MODS model animals were tested diachronically, eg. 12, 6 h before modeling, during modeling, 6 and 12 h after modeling, and then the mathematic models were built up with compartment analysis. Lyapunov exponents (LE) of the mathematic models were calculated to evaluate their chaotic characteristics of movement and the degree of chaos was ascertained with the correlation dimension (CD). RESULTS: The serum levels of TNF-alpha and NO were significantly higher than those in the bland control group at modeling, 6, and 12 h after modeling (P <0.01), while those in the low and high doses of SQL were significantly lower than the model group (P <0.01). Moreover, the level of NO in the high dose of SQL was significantly lower than that in the low dose group (P <0. 01). CD of TNF-alpha movement in the blank control group was 0.803 with the LE less than zero; those in the model group was 1. 966 and > 0 respectively; in the low dose and high dose SQL treated groups, CD was 0.517 and 0.653 respectively and LE >0. CD of NO movement in the blank control group was 0.670 and with LE < 0; in the model group, 1.242 with LE > 0; in the low dose SQL group, 0.574 and in the high dose SQL group 0.850, and LE <0 in the two groups. CONCLUSION: Under the normal physiologic condition, TNF-alpha and NO moved steadily without chaotic properties; while under the pathologic condition of MODS, they manifest relatively complicated chaotic properties. SQL can intervene the movement of TNF-alpha and NO, decrease the complexity of their chaotic movement, and make them return back to a stable state.

RESUMEN

Alienation and adaptation are two of the principles and methods in translation, each possessing their own values. Alienation should be applied in translating linguistic content in order to transfer the imbedded cultural messages trustfully; while the principle of adaptation should be followed in linguistic structure translation due to the different thinking patterns between Chinese and English which results in a great linguistic structure difference. Therefore, the translator must express the original meaning trustfully, on the other hand, to make the Chinese version more smooth, linguistic structure should be transformed to conform to the thinking habit of the readers. In brief, alienation and adaptation should complement each other in translation to make it a bridge connecting the different cultures.
