BACKGROUND: Radiotherapy (RT) is essential in the treatment of thoracic neoplasms. Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) have significantly improved the clinical management of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the impact of combining anti-PD-1 (αPD-1) immunotherapy with radiotherapy on lung injury. Additionally, it investigates the role and mechanism of interleukin (IL)-17A, a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in immune regulation, in lung injury arising from this combination treatment. METHODS: Experiments were conducted using a PD-1 deficient mouse model to simulate acute radiation-induced lung injury. Inbred female BALB/c wild-type (WT) mice and PD-1-/- mice were divided into six groups: WT group, PD-1-/- group, WT_LIR + IgG group, PD-1-/-_LIR + IgG group, WT_LIR + αIL-17A group, and PD-1-/-_LIR + αIL-17A group. The mice were subjected to 8 Gy × 3 irradiation in both lungs. Various methods including histological scoring, immunofluorescence, qPCR, and flow cytometry were employed to analyze the role of IL-17A in lung injury and the effect of PD-1 gene deletion on the severity of radiation-induced lung injury. RESULTS: The PD-1-/-_LIR mice exhibited evident radiation-induced lung injury after receiving 8 Gy × 3 doses in both lungs. The expression level of IL-17A peaked at 2 weeks. Lung injury-related factors IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-6, and RORγt in the PD-1-/-_LIR groups increased 2 weeks after irradiation. The CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in lung tissue of the PD-1-/-_LIR mice significantly increased. Post αIL-17A administration, the incidence of alveolitis in the treatment group decreased, the expression levels of lung injury-related factors IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-6, RORγt, TGF-ß1, and IL-17A decreased, and the CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in lung tissue significantly declined. Throughout the observation period, the survival rate of the mice in the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the isotype control group (60% vs 0%, P = 0.011). CONCLUSION: Combining αPD-1 immunotherapy with radiotherapy in mice can induce radiation-induced lung injury, with IL-17A playing a critical role in this process. αIL-17A administration significantly mitigated radiation-induced lung injury caused by the combination of αPD-1 immunotherapy and radiotherapy, improving mouse survival. This finding offers a promising treatment target for lung injury resulting from the combination of αPD-1 immunotherapy and radiotherapy.

Background: Depression and anxiety are prevalent mental health issues addressed by online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) via mobile applications. This study introduces Sokoon, a gamified CBT app tailored for Arabic individuals, focusing on alleviating depression and anxiety symptoms (DASDs). Objectives: The objectives of this study were to: Evaluate the effectiveness of Sokoon in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Assess the usability of the intervention through user engagement and adherence to CBT skills. Methods: A single-group pre-post design evaluated Sokoon's impact on adults with DASDs. In consultation with psychiatrists, Sokoon integrates evidence-based skills such as relaxation, gratitude, behavioral activation, and cognitive restructuring, represented by planets. Its design incorporates Hexad theory and gamification, supported by a dynamic difficulty adjustment algorithm. The study involves 30 participants aged 18-35 (86.7% female), specifically those with mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Results: Based on a sample of 30 participants, Sokoon, a smartphone-based intervention, significantly reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety (d = 2.7, d = 3.6, p < 0.001). Over a two-week trial, participants experienced a notable decrease in anxiety and depressive symptoms, indicating the effectiveness of the model. Sokoon shows potential as a valuable tool for addressing DASDs. Conclusion: Sokoon, the gamified CBT application, offers an innovative approach to increasing CBT skills adherence and engagement. By leveraging Hexad theory and gamification, Sokoon provides an enjoyable and engaging user experience while maintaining the effectiveness of traditional CBT techniques. The study findings suggest that Sokoon has a positive impact on reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Metallic iron (Fe) typically demonstrates the unfavorable catalytic activity for the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR), mainly attributed to the excessively strong binding of CO products on Fe sites. Toward this end, we employed an effective approach involving electronic structure modulation through nitrogen (N) integration to enhance the performance of the CO2RR. Here, an efficient catalyst has been developed, composed of N-doped metallic iron (Fe) nanoparticles encapsulated in a porous N-doped carbon framework. Notably, this N-integrated Fe catalyst displays significantly enhanced performance in the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2, yielding the highest CO Faradaic efficiency of 97.5% with a current density of 6.68 mA cm-2 at -0.7 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode. The theoretical calculations, combined with the in situ attenuated total reflection surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy study, reveal that N integration modulates the electron density around Fe, resulting in the weakening of the binding strength between the Fe active sites and *CO intermediates, consequently promoting the desorption of CO and the overall CO2RR process.

As the power core of an electric vehicle, the performance of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is directly related to the vehicle quality and driving range. However, the charge-discharge performance and cycling performance are affected by the temperature. Excessive temperature can cause internal short circuits and even lead to safety issues, such as thermal runaway. The separator plays a crucial role in protecting the battery from regular operation, preventing direct touch between the cathode and the anode while allowing the transport of lithium ions. In this study, we have designed a thermoregulating separator in the shape of calabash, which uses melamine-encapsulated paraffin phase change material (PCM) with a wide enthalpy (0-168.52 J g-1) to dissipate the heat generated inside the battery promptly. Under extra-long-use conditions, the heat emitted by the battery is absorbed by the PCM without causing a significant temperature rise that triggers thermal runaway. The PCM separator can effectively suppress the temperature increase caused by battery penetration. Due to the unique structure of the PCM, the battery is short-circuited; it can significantly delay the internal temperature rise of the battery and quickly dissipate the heat, which is consistent with the characteristics of natural calabash in nutrient absorption and water diffusion, improving the melting and heat storage efficiency of the PCM. The design of the phase change separator provides an effective reference for overheat protection and improved safety in lithium-ion batteries.

Understanding the mechanisms of community assembly is a key question in ecology. Metal pollution may result in significant changes in bird community structure and diversity, with implications for ecosystem processes and function. However, the relative importance of these processes in shaping the bird community at the polluted area is still not clear. Here, we explored bird species richness, functional, and phylogenetic diversity, and the assembly processes of community at the mine region of southwest China. Our results showed that the 3 dimensions of diversity at the mine area were lower than that at the reference sites. In the community assembly, the result was 0 < NRI/ NFRI < 1.96, which indicated deterministic processes (environmental filtering) might drive community clustering. The results of the neutral community model, and normalized stochasticity ratio, showed the dominant role of stochastic processes in shaping the bird community assembly. We further quantified the community-level habitat niche breadth (Bcom), and we found that there was no difference in Bcom-value between the mine area and reference sites. This indicates that the bird communities at the mine area and 3 reference sites were not subjected to extreme environmental selection (same or different resource allocation) to form a highly specialized niche. These findings provide insights into the distribution patterns and dominant ecological processes of bird communities under metal exposure, and extend the knowledge in community assembly mechanisms of bird communities living in the mine area.

Alpiniae oxyphylla fructus was extensively utilized both as dietary supplements and traditional herbal medicines for healthcare functions and has exhibited a positive impact on animal health. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of Alpiniae oxyphyllae fructus powder (AOP) on production performance, egg quality, egg yolk fatty acid composition, reproductive hormones, antioxidant capacity, immunity, anti-apoptosis ability, and intestinal health in hens. A total of 252 Hainan Wenchang laying hens (30-wk-old) were randomly divided into 3 groups with 6 replicates, a basic diet with 0 (CON), 1 g/kg AOP (AOP1), and 3 g/kg (AOP3) mixed AOP. The AOP supplementation was found to decrease the feed conversion ratio and embryo mortality but to increase the laying rate, average egg weight, and oviduct index linearly (p < 0.05). Furthermore, AOP treatment reduced the total saturated fatty acids and palmitic acid (C16:0) in the egg yolk while increasing eggshell strength, albumen height, and Haugh unit (p < 0.05). The serum levels of albumin and phosphorus were increased, whereas total cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose levels decreased as a result of AOP treatment (p < 0.05). The inclusion of 3 g/kg AOP had higher 17 ß-estradiol and follicle-stimulating hormone levels in serum, while it up-regulated follicle-stimulating hormone receptor and gonadotropin-releasing hormone expression in ovary (p < 0.05). Dietary AOP strengthened the expression of nuclear factor erythroid2-related factor 2 in ovary and increased the activity of superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity, but had a lower malondialdehyde content in serum (p < 0.05). AOP at 3 g/kg up-regulated superoxide dismutase 1 and heme oxygenase 1 expression in jejunum and ovary (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, AOP supplementation down-regulated p53 expression in ovary and bcl-2-associated x expression in liver and jejunum, especially 3 g/kg of AOP had lower caspase-8 concentrations and down-regulated bcl-2-associated x and caspase-3 expression in ovary (p < 0.05). AOP treatment increased serum levels of immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin M and upregulated interleukin-4 expression in the liver, while decreasing interleukin-1ß expression in liver and ovary and nod-like receptor protein 3 expression in jejunum (p < 0.05). Dietary AOP increased the ratio of villus height to crypt depth but decreased crypt depth in jejunum, especially when 1 g/kg AOP increased expression levels of occludin, mucin-2, peptide-transporter 1, and sodium glucose cotransporter 1 in jejunum (p < 0.05). AOP treatment altered the composition of the cecal microbial community, as evidenced by increased abundance of Oscillospira and Phascolarctobacterium and reduced richness of Clostridiaceae_Clostridium. Dietary AOP supplementation enriched lipid, amino acid, and propanoate metabolism. Spearman's correlation analysis revealed that the genera Oscillospira, Blautia, and Megasphaera were related to laying performance and intestinal integrity. In brief, supplementation of AOP, especially at 3 g/kg, could improve production performance and egg quality of hens via modulating reproductive hormones, antioxidant capacity, immunity, intestinal barrier, and cecal microbiota. Overall, the present work recommends the dietary inclusion of AOP as a beneficial additive for improving the performance of hens.

AIM: To explore whether CD3ε is involved in the adaptive immunity of Aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus) keratitis in mice and the role of innate and adaptive immunity in it. METHODS: Mice models of A. fumigatus keratitis were established by intra-stromal injection and corneal epithelial scratching. Subconjunctival injections of natamycin, wedelolactone, LOX-1 inhibitor (poly I) or Dectin-1 inhibitor (laminarin) were used to treat mice with A. fumigatus keratitis. Mice were pretreated by intraperitoneal injection of anti-mouse CD3ε. We observed the corneal infection of mice under the slit lamp microscope and made a clinical score. The protein expression of CD3ε and interleukin-10 (IL-10) was determined by Western blotting. RESULTS: With the disease progresses, the degree of corneal opacity and edema augmented. In the intra-stromal injection models, CD3ε protein expression began to increase significantly on the 2nd day. However, in the scraping epithelial method models, CD3ε only began to increase on the 3rd day. After natamycin treatment, the degree of corneal inflammation in mice was significantly attenuated on the 3rd day. After wedelolactone treatment, the severity of keratitis worsened. And the amount of CD3ε protein was also reduced, compared with the control group. By inhibiting LOX-1 and Dectin-1, there was no significant difference in CD3ε production compared with the control group. After inhibiting CD3ε, corneal ulcer area and clinical score increased, and IL-10 expression was downregulated. CONCLUSION: As a pan T cell marker, CD3ε participate in the adaptive immunity of A. fumigatus keratitis in mice. In our mice models, the corneas will enter the adaptive immune stage faster. By regulating IL-10, CD3ε exerts anti-inflammatory and repairs effects in the adaptive immune stage.

Existing model evaluation tools mainly focus on evaluating classification models, leaving a gap in evaluating more complex models, such as object detection. In this paper, we develop an open-source visual analysis tool, Uni-Evaluator, to support a unified model evaluation for classification, object detection, and instance segmentation in computer vision. The key idea behind our method is to formulate both discrete and continuous predictions in different tasks as unified probability distributions. Based on these distributions, we develop 1) a matrix-based visualization to provide an overview of model performance; 2) a table visualization to identify the problematic data subsets where the model performs poorly; 3) a grid visualization to display the samples of interest. These visualizations work together to facilitate the model evaluation from a global overview to individual samples. Two case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of Uni-Evaluator in evaluating model performance and making informed improvements.

We present in this paper a novel denoising training method to speed up DETR (DEtection TRansformer) training and offer a deepened understanding of the slow convergence issue of DETR-like methods. We show that the slow convergence results from the instability of bipartite graph matching which causes inconsistent optimization goals in early training stages. To address this issue, except for the Hungarian loss, our method additionally feeds GT bounding boxes with noises into the Transformer decoder and trains the model to reconstruct the original boxes, which effectively reduces the bipartite graph matching difficulty and leads to faster convergence. Our method is universal and can be easily plugged into any DETR-like method by adding dozens of lines of code to achieve a remarkable improvement. As a result, our DN-DETR results in a remarkable improvement ( +1.9AP) under the same setting and achieves 46.0 AP and 49.5 AP trained for 12 and 50 epochs with the ResNet-50 backbone. Compared with the baseline under the same setting, DN-DETR achieves comparable performance with 50% training epochs. We also demonstrate the effectiveness of denoising training in CNN-based detectors (Faster R-CNN), segmentation models (Mask2Former, Mask DINO), and more DETR-based models (DETR, Anchor DETR, Deformable DETR).

The severe dependence of traditional phase change materials (PCMs) on the temperature-response and lattice deficiencies in versatility cannot satisfy demand for using such materials in complex application scenarios. Here, we introduced metal ions to induce the self-assembly of MXene nanosheets and achieve their ordered arrangement by combining suction filtration and rapid freezing. Subsequently, a series of MXene/ K+/paraffin wax (PW) phase change composites (PCCs) were obtained via vacuum impregnation in molten PW. The prepared MXene-based PCCs showed versatile applications from macroscale technologies, successfully transforming solar, electric, and magnetic energy into thermal energy stored as latent heat in the PCCs. Moreover, due to the absence of binder in the MXene-based aerogel, MK3@PW exhibits a prime solar-thermal conversion efficiency (98.4%). Notably, MK3@PW can further convert the collected heat energy into electric energy through thermoelectric equipment and realize favorable solar-thermal-electric conversion (producing 206 mV of voltage with light radiation intensity of 200 mw cm-2). An excellent Joule heat performance (reaching 105 °C with an input voltage of 2.5 V) and responsive magnetic-thermal conversion behavior (a charging time of 11.8 s can achieve a thermal insulation effect of 285 s) for contactless thermotherapy were also demonstrated by the MK3@PW. Specifically, as a result of the ordered arrangement of MXene nanosheet self-assembly induced by potassium ions, MK3@PW PCC exhibits a higher electromagnetic shielding efficiency value (57.7 dB) than pure MXene aerogel/PW PCC (29.8 dB) with the same MXene mass. This work presents an opportunity for the multi-scene response and practical application of PCMs that satisfy demand of next-generation multifunctional PCCs.

Entangled qudits, the high-dimensional entangled states, play an important role in the study of quantum information. How to prepare entangled qudits in an efficient and easy-to-operate manner is still a challenge in quantum technology. Here, we demonstrate a method to engineer frequency entangled qudits in a spontaneous parametric downconversion process. The proposal employs an angle-dependent phase-matching condition in a nonlinear crystal, which forms a classical-quantum mapping between the spatial (pump) and spectral (biphotons) degrees of freedom. In particular, the pump profile is separated into several bins in the spatial domain, and thus shapes the down-converted biphotons into discrete frequency modes in the joint spectral space. Our approach provides a feasible and efficient method to prepare a high-dimensional frequency entangled state. As an experimental demonstration, we generate a three-dimensional entangled state by using a homemade variable slit mask.

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) conservation plays an important role in shaping and controlling structured light with nonlinear optics. The OAM of a beam originating from three-wave mixing should be the sum or difference of the other two inputs because no light-matter OAM exchange occurs in parametric nonlinear interactions. Here, we report anomalous OAM transfer in parametric upconversion, in which a Hermite-Gauss mode signal interacts with a specially engineered pump capable of astigmatic transformation, resulting in Laguerre-Gaussian mode sum-frequency generation (SFG). The anomaly here refers to the fact that the pump and signal both carry no net OAM, while their SFG does. We reveal experimentally that there is also an OAM inflow to the residual pump, having the same amount of that to the SFG but with the opposite sign, and thus holds system OAM conservation. This unexpected OAM selection rule improves our understanding of OAM transfer among interacting waves and may inspire new ideas for controlling OAM states via nonlinear optics.

The complex gut bacterial communities have a major impact on organismal health. However, knowledge of the effects of habitat change on the gut microbiota of wild birds is limited. In this study, we characterized the gut microbiota of two different subspecies of the Silver-eared Mesia (Leiothrix argentauris), the native subspecies (L. a. rubrogularis) and immigrant subspecies (L. a. vernayi), using 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing. These two subspecies live in a trace metal-contaminated area, and L. a. vernayi was trafficked. They are an excellent system for studying how the gut microbiome of wild animal changes when they move to new habitats. We hypothesized that the immigrant subspecies would develop the same adaptations as the native subspecies in response to habitat changes. The results showed that there were no significant differences in the composition, diversity, or functional metabolism of gut microbiota between native and immigrant subspecies under the combined action of similar influencing factors (the p values of all analyses of variance >0.05). In addition, the composition and functional metabolism of gut microbiota in two subspecies showed adaptation against trace metal damage. Linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) analysis revealed that Massilia in the intestinal microbiota of immigrant subspecies was significantly higher than that of native subspecies, suggesting that immigrant subspecies suffered habitat change. Finally, we found that these two subspecies living in the mining area had an extremely high proportion of pathogenic bacteria in their gut microbiota (about 90%), much higher than in other species (about 50%) living in wild environment. Our results revealed the adaptation of intestinal microbiota of immigrant Silver-eared Mesias under heavy metals stress, which would provide guidance for biodiversity conservation and pollution management in mining area.

Apportioning the sources of metals/metalloids is a critical step toward soil quality protection and ecological restoration. The objective of this study was to identify the potential sources of contamination of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Pb, and Zn, and determine the contribution rates of each source, to rice and sugarcane agroecosystems of southwestern Guangxi, southern China. We collected a total of 300 soil samples at a former lead-zinc mine and at two reference sites, 6 and 60 km away from the mine, sampling both agroecosystems at each site. Overall, the positive matrix factorization (PMF) receptor model revealed that in rice paddies at the mine site, mining activities had the highest contribution (60.7% of all examined metals/metalloids), followed by irrigation (25.8%), and agrochemical application (13.5%). At the close reference site, agrochemical application contributed 42.8%, followed by irrigation (22.7%), natural sources (17.4%), and mining activities (17.2%). At the far reference site, agrochemical application was predominant (40.6%), followed by irrigation (32.5%), and natural sources (26.9%). In comparison, at the mine site and the close reference site in sugarcane ecosystems, agrochemical application was predominant (50.1% and 57.4%, respectively), followed by mining activities (49.9% and 42.6%). At the far reference site, agrochemical application contributed 51.2%, followed by natural sources (48.8%). Therefore, the PMF model indicated that the optimal solution was four or three sources per site for rice paddies, but only two sources per site for sugarcane, suggesting that sources of metal/metalloid contamination were more complicated in rice paddy than in sugarcane agroecosystems.

Anisotropic mesoporous carbon (AMC) nanoparticles with asymmetric external morphologies, topological internal structure, and superior performance of carbon species are attracting great attention because of their seductive features differentiating them from symmetric nanoparticles. However, a bewildering challenge but crucial desire remains to endow them with flexibly tunable morphology and pore structure. Herein, a dual/triple-templating evolved emulsion strategy for tunable fabrication of AMC nanoparticles with distinctive defined structure by interface-energy-induced self-assembly is first reported based on a brand-new mechanism. It describes the possible formation process of the concave-cavity structure and allows for manipulation of the longitudinal and lateral sizes systematically by adjusting emulsion polarity and sodium oleate dosage, respectively. Interestingly, the internal pore structure can be rearranged into radial channels and the external morphology can realize structural transformation from concave to convex by innovatively introducing the third template n-hexanol, which is unprecedented at nanoscale. Remarkably, due to the excellent properties of carbon species and unique structural characteristics, AMC nanoparticles not only demonstrate good biocompatibility but also exhibit splendid performance in improving the dissolution and release rates of insoluble drug and enhancing the enzyme catalytic efficiency. Generally, this approach provides new inspiration and insights for expanding exquisite anisotropic nanomaterials for many potential applications.

RESUMEN

The fractional Schrödinger equation (FSE)-a natural extension of the standard Schrödinger equation-is the basis of fractional quantum mechanics. It can be obtained by replacing the kinetic-energy operator with a fractional derivative. Here, we report the experimental realisation of an optical FSE for femtosecond laser pulses in the temporal domain. Programmable holograms and the single-shot measurement technique are respectively used to emulate a Lévy waveguide and to reconstruct the amplitude and phase of the pulses. Varying the Lévy index of the FSE and the initial pulse, the temporal dynamics is observed in diverse forms, including solitary, splitting and merging pulses, double Airy modes, and "rain-like" multi-pulse patterns. Furthermore, the transmission of input pulses carrying a fractional phase exhibits a "fractional-phase protection" effect through a regular (non-fractional) material. The experimentally generated fractional time-domain pulses offer the potential for designing optical signal-processing schemes.

Stent implantation has been a promising therapy for congenital heart disease (CHD) due to better efficacy. Compared to permanent metal stents, bioresorbable polymer stents have shown a great advantage in accommodating the vascular growth of pediatric patients, but the application is still limited due to inferior radial strength. Here, bioresorbable poly(p-dioxanone) (PPDO) sliding-lock stents for CHD treatment were fabricated by fused deposition modeling (FDM). The effects of FDM processing parameters, including nozzle temperature, bed temperature, layer thickness, and printing speed, on the mechanical properties of PPDO parts were investigated to optimize the processing condition to enhance the radial strength of stents. Finite element analysis (FEA) was also used to evaluate the mechanical properties of stents. PPDO sliding-lock stents fabricated under optimized FDM parameters showed radial strength of 3.315 ± 0.590 N/mm, superior to benchmark commercial metal stents. Radial strength curve and compression behavior of PPDO sliding-lock stents were investigated. Results of FEA exhibited that strut width, shape of the mesh cell and surface coverage ratio had an impact on the compression force of PPDO sliding-lock stents. PPDO sliding-lock stents fabricated with optimized FDM parameters show favorable mechanical performance and meet the requirement of CHD treatment.

National Materials Data Management and Service platform (NMDMS) is a materials data repository for the publication and sharing of heterogeneous materials scientific data and follows the FAIR principles: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. To ensure data are 'Interoperable, NMDMS uses a user-friendly semi-structured scientific data model, named dynamic container', to define, exchange, and store heterogeneous scientific data. Then, a personalized yet standardized data submission subsystem, a rigorous project data review and publication subsystem, and a multi-granularity data query and retrieval subsystem collaboratively make data 'Reusable', 'Findable', and 'Accessible'. Finally, China's "National Key R&D Program: Material Genetic Engineering Key Special Project" has adopted NMDMS to publish and share its project data. There are 12,251,040 pieces of data published in NMDMS since 2018, under 87 categories and 1,912 user-defined schemas from 45 projects. The platform has been accessed 908875 times, and 2403,208 pieces of data have been downloaded. In short, NMDMS effectively accelerates the publication and sharing of material project data in China.

The dynamic RNA modifications were orchestrated by a series of enzymes, namely "writer", "reader" and "eraser", which can install, recognize and remove the modifications, respectively. However, only a very small number of experimentally validated RNA modification enzymes have been identified and reported. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a database to deposit RNA modification enzymes. In the present work, we developed the RNAME database (https://chenweilab.cn/rname/) to provide a comprehensive resource for RNA modification enzymes. The current version of RNAME deposits more than 21,000 manually curated RNA modification enzymes, which are from 456 species and covers the 7 common kinds of RNA modifications (i.e., adenosine to inosine, N1-methyladenosine, N6-methyladenosine, 5-methylcytidine, N7-methylguanosine, mRNA cap modification, and pseudouridine). The 3D structures, domains, subcellular locations, and biological functions of these enzymes were also integrated in RNAME. It is anticipated that RNAME will facilitate the researches on RNA modifications.

Birds are vulnerable to metal pollution, which can serve as indicators of environmental safety monitoring. In this study, we evaluated three non-essential (Pb, Cd, and As) and two essential (Cu and Zn) trace elements of living (only feathers) and deceased (feathers and tissues) Grey-cheeked Fulvetta (Alcippe morrisonia) at a highly polluted mine tailings and a reference site. Five metal concentrations in the feathers of living Grey-cheeked Fulvettas were higher at the mine site. Among these, the levels of Cd and Pb in most feathers exceeded the threshold, resulting in an ecotoxicological concern. The correlation analysis suggested that feathers from Grey-cheeked Fulvettas might be useful bioindicators for local metal contamination assessment. The toxicological effects of trace metals on Grey-cheeked Fulvetta might affect its leadership ability. Therefore, understanding the effects of metal pollution on Grey-cheeked Fulvetta would show important practical implications for the conservation of bird communities.
