What is already known about this topic?: Malignant tumors are common chronic non-communicable disease and have caused serious health hazards to residents and heavy economic burden of disease to the society. What is added by this report?: This is the first report on the economic burden of multiple types of malignant tumors in Yichang City. In 2019, the direct medical burden of lung cancer in Yichang was the highest, reaching 561.67 million CNY, and the indirect economic burden of lung cancer in Yichang was higher than that of other malignant tumors, costing 326.49 million CNY. What are the implications for public health practice?: The results can provide evidence for the formulation of local cancer prevention and control strategies and public health decision-making.

RESUMEN

Here, we developed a rapid, visual and double-checked Logic Gate detection platform for detection of pathogenic microorganisms by aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) in combination with Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR associated (Cas). DNA light-up AIEgens (1,1,2,2-tetrakis[4-(2-bromo-ethoxy) phenyl]ethene, TTAPE) was non-emissive but the emission was turned on in the presence of large amount of DNA produced by recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA). When CRISPR/Cas12a was added, all long-stranded DNA were cut leading to the emission quenched. Thus, a method that can directly observe the emission changes with the naked eye has been successfully constructed. The detection is speedy within only 20 min, and has strong specificity to the target. The result can be judged by Logic Gate. Only when the output signal is (1,0), does it represent the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in the test object. Finally, the method was applied to the detect pathogenic microorganisms in environmental water samples, which proved that this method has high selectivity, specificity and applicability for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms in environmental water samples.

In this work, two new fluorescence chemosensors 2-(4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl)phenoxy) acetic acid (TPE-COOH) and 2,2'-(((1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-diyl)bis(4,1-phenylene))bis(oxy))diacetic acid (TPE-(COOH)2) were synthesized and applied for the facile detection of physiological phosphates. Due to the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) character, the emission can be turned on after label free interaction with polyethyleneimine (PEI). When the physiological phosphates were introduced to the system, the AIEgens/PEI complex was dissociated due to stronger electrostatic interaction between PEI and phosphates, which resulted in the significant fluorescence quenching of AIEgens. As the four kinds of phosphates cytidine-5'-diphosphate disodium salt (CDP), adenosine-5 (ADP), sodium pyrophosphate (PPi) and guanosine-5'-diphosphate disodium salt (GDP) had different interaction with PEI, also the TPE-COOH and TPE-(COOH)2 had different interaction with PEI, the fluorescence quenching effect was distinct for four phosphates. The unique pattern of fluorescence variations was differentiated by chemometric methods including principal component analysis and linear discriminant analysis. The robustness of the sensor array was proved by discrimination of four kinds of phosphates in serum samples with different concentrations, and the discrimination capacity was not influenced in complicated samples Graphical abstract.

What is already known about this topic? The World Health Organization's (WHO) Global Health Estimates (GHE) reported that acute hepatitis caused 9,213 deaths and 307,720 person years of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) in 2016, and acute hepatitis B accounted for 85.81% of all DALYs among acute hepatitis types A, B, C, and E in China. What is added by this report? In China, the percent changes in years lived with disability (YLDs) due to acute hepatitis A, B, and E in groups aged 50-69 years and 70 years or more and in all age groups for acute hepatitis C were increased from 2000 to 2019. What are the implications for public health practices? Effective vaccines, interventions, and treatments are key approaches to achieve the WHO's goal of reducing new hepatitis infections by 90% and deaths by 65% between 2016 and 2030.

To explore the effects of NaF on the growth and cephalotaxine production of Cephalotaxus mannii suspension cells, NaF was added into the C mannii cell suspension cultures at day 15 of culture time. It is documented that NaF suppressed cell growth but enhanced cephalotaxine production. The largest yield obtained of cephalotaxine reached to 9.57mg/L when the cultures were treated with an appropriate dosage of 15mg/L NaF, which was 3.7 times that of the control cultures (2.58mg/L). Additionally, NaF markedly enhanced the activity of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH) and reduced the level of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) of cells. It was also found that NaF weakened the oxidative damage of cell membrane and led to lower content of malonyl dialdehyde (MDA) in NaF-treated cells compared with the control cells. The MDA content of NaF-treated cells decreased 91% compared to the controls. Although lower membrane lipid peroxidation in NaF-treated cells, its membrane permeability was higher than the control cells and showed a high product secret rate. What is more, NaF boosted the activity of phenylalanine ammonium-lyse (PAL), but did not burst a peak of PAL activity in the time curve of PAL activity. These results indicated NaF acted as an inhibitor of the Enbden Parnas (EMP) pathway, not as an elicitor to promote cephalotaxine production.

RESUMEN

The phosphorus (P) distribution in the sediments of Haizi Lake from the middle reach of the Yangtze River region, China, was investigated using a sequential chemical extraction procedure. P forms and concentrations of sediment samples taken at 25 sites over the whole lake were measured. The relationships between various forms of P in sediments and dissolved P in the overlying water were also discussed. Results showed that the concentrations of total P (TP) in the sediments ranged from 404 to 670 mg kg⁻¹, with an average of 503 mg kg⁻¹. The exchangeable P (Ex-P), Al-bound P (Al-P), Fe-bound P (Fe-P), occluded P (Oc-P), authigenic carbonate fluorapatite + biogenic apatite + CaCO3-associated P (ACa-P), detrital apatite + other inorganic P (De-P) and organic P (Or-P) accounted for, on average, 0.52, 0.04, 10.9, 32.0, 7.4, 20.1 and 29.0% of TP, respectively. Relevance analysis indicated that Oc-P, ACa-P and De-P, as the majority forms of inorganic P, were less correlated to others. The significant correlations between Ex-P, Al-P, Fe-P, Or-P and TP suggested the probability of reciprocal transformation. It was suggested that Ex-P, Al-P, Fe-P, Or-P and TP in the sediments might be released easily to the water interface, resulting in sustained lake eutrophication.
