RESUMEN

The unprecedented copper-catalyzed asymmetric alkynylallylic monofluoroalkylation reaction is described via the use of 1,3-enynes and fluorinated malonates. A series of 1,4-enynes bearing a monofluoroalkyl unit are achieved in high yields, excellent regio- and enantioselectivity and high E/Z selectivity. The asymmetric propargylic monofluoroalkylation is also developed. The reliability and synthetic value of the work are highlighted by a gram-scale test and a couple of downstream transformations. Preliminary mechanistic studies unveil a negative nonlinear effect for the catalytic process.

RESUMEN

An efficient and environmentally benign method for the preparation of substituted indene derivatives has been developed by using water as the sole solvent. This reaction proceeded under air, tolerated a wide range of functional-groups and was easily scaled up. Bioactive natural products like indriline were synthesized via the developed protocol. Preliminary results demonstrate that the enantioselective variant can also be achieved.

Health literacy is the ability to understand, process, and obtain health information and make suitable decisions about health care [3]. Traditionally, text has been the main medium for delivering health information. However, virtual assistants are gaining popularity in this digital era; and people increasingly rely on audio and smart speakers for health information. We aim to identify audio/text features that contribute to the difficulty of the information delivered over audio. We are creating a health-related audio corpus. We selected text snippets and calculated seven text features. Then, we converted the text snippets to audio snippets. In a pilot study with Amazon Mechanical Turk (AMT) workers, we measured the perceived and actual difficulty of the audio using the response of multiple choice and free recall questions. We collected demographic information as well as bias about doctors' gender, task preference, and health information preference. Thirteen workers completed thirty audio snippets and related questions. We found a strong correlation between text features lexical chain, and the dependent variables, and multiple choice response, percentage of matching word, percentage of similar word, cosine similarity, and time taken (in seconds). In addition, doctors were generally perceived to be more competent than warm. How warm workers perceive male doctors correlated significantly with perceived difficulty.

Transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution with a suitably pre-stored leaving group in the substrate is widely used in organic synthesis. In contrast, the enantioselective allylic C(sp3)-H functionalization is more straightforward but far less explored. Here we report a catalytic protocol for the long-standing challenging enantioselective allylic C(sp3)-H functionalization. Through palladium hydride-catalyzed chain-walking and allylic substitution, allylic C-H functionalization of a wide range of acyclic nonconjugated dienes is achieved in high yields (up to 93% yield), high enantioselectivities (up to 98:2 er), and with 100% atom efficiency. Exploring the reactivity of substrates with varying pKa values uncovers a reasonable scope of nucleophiles and potential factors controlling the reaction. A set of efficient downstream transformations to enantiopure skeletons showcase the practical value of the methodology. Mechanistic experiments corroborate the PdH-catalyzed asymmetric migratory allylic substitution process.

The rapid advancement of new digital technologies, such as smart technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, robotics, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), is fundamentally changing the nature of work and increasing concerns about the future of jobs and organizations. To keep pace with rapid disruption, companies need to update and transform business models to remain competitive. Meanwhile, the growth of advanced technologies is changing the types of skills and competencies needed in the workplace and demanded a shift in mindset among individuals, teams and organizations. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitalization trends, while heightening the importance of employee resilience and well-being in adapting to widespread job and technological disruption. Although digital transformation is a new and urgent imperative, there is a long trajectory of rigorous research that can readily be applied to grasp these emerging trends. Recent studies and reviews of digital transformation have primarily focused on the business and strategic levels, with only modest integration of employee-related factors. Our review article seeks to fill these critical gaps by identifying and consolidating key factors important for an organization's overarching digital transformation. We reviewed studies across multiple disciplines and integrated the findings into a multi-level framework. At the individual level, we propose five overarching factors related to effective digital transformation among employees: technology adoption; perceptions and attitudes toward technological change; skills and training; workplace resilience and adaptability, and work-related wellbeing. At the group-level, we identified three factors necessary for digital transformation: team communication and collaboration; workplace relationships and team identification, and team adaptability and resilience. Finally, at the organizational-level, we proposed three factors for digital transformation: leadership; human resources, and organizational culture/climate. Our review of the literature confirms that multi-level factors are important when planning for and embarking on digital transformation, thereby providing a framework for future research and practice.
