RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Over the past several decades the prevalence of adolescent non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has been rising steadily. Understanding the factors associated with NSSI is a critical public health concern. The current study aims to explore the critical factors related to NSSI among Chinese adolescents. METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted to identify the studies meeting our eligibility criteria (published until June 2022) in PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Springer Link, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang data. The meta-package of R language was used to perform a meta-analysis to compute the pooled effect (r). RESULTS: A total of 59 studies were included in this analysis, with a sample size of 192,546. Twenty-four democratic, personal, and social factors were examined in current study. The pooled effect value (r) has revealed that 23 factors are associated with NSSI behaviors among Chinese adolescents. The factor, Internet addiction, has demonstrated the greatest association with NSSI compared to other factors. CONCLUSION: Consistent with previous studies on adolescent NSSI, findings have demonstrated that a number of demographic, personal, and social factors significantly contribute to NSSI behaviors among Chinese adolescents. Future research on prevention and intervention for adolescent NSSI may benefit from targeting these factors.

RESUMEN

This paper presents a nonlinear magnetoelectric energy harvester which has the potential to harvest vibrational energy over a wide bandwidth in arbitrary motion directions. Three springs with equal intersection angles are adopted to absorb the multi-directional vibration energy. Magnetic interaction between the magnets and ME transducers allows the nonlinear motion with enhanced harvesting frequency range. Very good agreement is observed between the numerical and experimental open-circuit voltage output frequency response curves. The experimental results show that the harvester can harvest vibrational energy in an arbitrary direction, exhibiting a further bandwidth of 5.2 Hz. This study provides a new solution to effectively use the magnetoelectric energy harvester for multi-directional and bandwidth vibrational energy scavenging in the surrounding environment.

RESUMEN

Alexithymia and emotion regulation are closely related to internet addiction. However, no research has examined how the different components of alexithymia are associated with cognitive emotion regulation in the context of multi-strategy use in internet addiction. The current study aimed to investigate the relation between alexithymia and cognitive emotion regulation in individuals with internet addiction via network analysis. Participants included 560 students with Young's Internet Addiction Test scores greater than 50 points; they were also asked to complete the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). The results revealed two bridge nodes emerging within the combined alexithymia and cognitive emotion regulation network model: "catastrophizing" and "externally oriented thoughts." These findings indicate a more specific relation between alexithymia and cognitive emotion regulation and provide empirical evidence for targeted prevention and targeted interventions for internet addiction.

RESUMEN

Markus and Kitayama's (1991) theory of independent and interdependent self-construals had a major influence on social, personality, and developmental psychology by highlighting the role of culture in psychological processes. However, research has relied excessively on contrasts between North American and East Asian samples, and commonly used self-report measures of independence and interdependence frequently fail to show predicted cultural differences. We revisited the conceptualization and measurement of independent and interdependent self-construals in 2 large-scale multinational surveys, using improved methods for cross-cultural research. We developed (Study 1: N = 2924 students in 16 nations) and validated across cultures (Study 2: N = 7279 adults from 55 cultural groups in 33 nations) a new 7-dimensional model of self-reported ways of being independent or interdependent. Patterns of global variation support some of Markus and Kitayama's predictions, but a simple contrast between independence and interdependence does not adequately capture the diverse models of selfhood that prevail in different world regions. Cultural groups emphasize different ways of being both independent and interdependent, depending on individualism-collectivism, national socioeconomic development, and religious heritage. Our 7-dimensional model will allow future researchers to test more accurately the implications of cultural models of selfhood for psychological processes in diverse ecocultural contexts. RESUMEN

Variations in acquiescence and extremity pose substantial threats to the validity of cross-cultural research that relies on survey methods. Individual and cultural correlates of response styles when using 2 contrasting types of response mode were investigated, drawing on data from 55 cultural groups across 33 nations. Using 7 dimensions of self-other relatedness that have often been confounded within the broader distinction between independence and interdependence, our analysis yields more specific understandings of both individual- and culture-level variations in response style. When using a Likert-scale response format, acquiescence is strongest among individuals seeing themselves as similar to others, and where cultural models of selfhood favour harmony, similarity with others and receptiveness to influence. However, when using Schwartz's (2007) portrait-comparison response procedure, acquiescence is strongest among individuals seeing themselves as self-reliant but also connected to others, and where cultural models of selfhood favour self-reliance and self-consistency. Extreme responding varies less between the two types of response modes, and is most prevalent among individuals seeing themselves as self-reliant, and in cultures favouring self-reliance. As both types of response mode elicit distinctive styles of response, it remains important to estimate and control for style effects to ensure valid comparisons.

RESUMEN

The AC3-33 gene encodes a secretory protein that can inhibit Elk1 transcriptional activity via the ERK1/2 pathway. In the current study, in situ RNA hybridization was used to detect the AC3-33 gene expression in multiple organ cancer and cancer-adjacent normal tissue. The results showed that the expression level of AC3-33 varies across different tissues. AC3-33 exhibited positive expression in squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus, adenocarcinoma of the rectum, hepatocellular carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lung, cancer-adjacent normal hepatic tissue, clear cell carcinoma of the kidney, invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, SCC of the uterine cervix and cancer-adjacent normal kidney tissue. Negative expression of AC3-33 was observed in adenocarcinoma of the stomach and colon, cancer-adjacent normal esophageal tissue, cancer-adjacent normal gastric tissue, cancer-adjacent normal colon tissue, cancer-adjacent normal rectal tissue, serous adenocarcinoma of the ovary and cancer-adjacent normal ovarian tissue. However, the expression of AC3-33 in cancer adjacent normal breast tissue was partially positive. In conclusion, the AC3-33 gene does exhibit positive expression in certain carcinomas, which may indicate that AC3-33 has a significant involvement in the development and progression of these carcinomas.
