[Prevalence of tuberculosis in the personnel of antituberculosis institutions in Russian Federation]. / O zabolevaemosti tuberkulezom personala protivotuberkuleznykh uchrezhdenykh uchrezhdenii Rossiiskoi Federatsii.

Questionnaires were distributed among all the heads of regional antituberculous services in Russia as to cases of tuberculosis among medical personnel in contact with tuberculous patients. The results of this study as well as programs to control tuberculosis in medical personnel are presented. Special measures of social support for those at occupational risk of tuberculosis are detailed.

[Results of carrying out a planned program "Acceleration of the tempo of lowering the tuberculosis morbidity in the RSFSR, 1983-1990"]. / Itogi vypolneniia tselevoi programmy "Uskorenie tempov snizheniia zabolevaemosti tuberkulezom v RSFSR na 1983-1990 gg.".

Analysis of the results of a planned program "Acceleration of the tempo of tuberculosis morbidity reduction in the RSFSR for the period of 1983-1999" has shown that formally it was fulfilled in 60 of the 73 administrative territories. The tempo of morbidity reduction during 1986-1990 was 24.2% in relation to 1985. This high tempo was associated with reduction of the volume of prophylactic screening examinations from 75% in 1985 to 52% in 1990. Hence, acceleration of the tempo of tuberculosis morbidity reduction is not genuine. Changes in socioeconomic conditions in the region should be taken into consideration in compiling planned programs. The basic aim of the program is to preserve a positive dynamics of the main epidemiologic indices for tuberculosis by finding the optimal model for the transition of the phthisiatric service to a new mechanism of economy.
