[Immediate and late results of selective proximal vagotomy in pyloroduodenal ulcers]. / Neposredstvennye i otdalennye rezul'taty selektivnoi proksimal'noi vagotomii pri piloroduodenal'nykh iazvakh.

Selective proximal vagotomy (SPV) was performed in 435 patients whose age ranged from 16 to 80. The isolated variant of SPV was applied in 130 and SPV with a stomach draining operation was conducted in 305 patients; 320 patients were examined after the operation in follow-up periods of 7 years and more. Postoperative lethality was 0.6%. A recurrent ulcer was revealed in 4.3% of patients. The causes of the recurrence are indicated. The results were found to be excellent and good in 76%, satisfactory in 16.9%, and poor in 7.1% of the examined patients.

[Procedural problems in the surgical treatment of gastroduodenal ulcers]. / Nekotorye voprosy taktiki khirurgicheskogo lecheniia gastroduodenal'nykh iazv.

Data concerning 175 cases operated upon for gastroduodenal ulcer are set forth in the article. Much importance is attached to a thorough mobilization of the duodenum, treatment of its stump, gastroenterostomy on the shortest afferent loop and to a broad use of suturing apparatuses and of caprone as a suture material, as well. Mortality constituted 1.1%.

[Errors in diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis in surgical practice]. / Oshibki v raspoznavanii abdominal'nogo tuberkuleza v khirurgicheskoi klinike

A detailed clinical analysis has shown that abdominal tuberculosis in its clinical manifestations and course is characterized by pathognomonic signs which, if properly accounted, can provide an opportunity to avoid frequent diagnostic errors. It is the author's opinion that patients with abdominal tuberculosis should be operated upon only in surgical complications of the latter and after a careful examination, establishing the precise diagnosis and adequate preoperative management.

[Perforative peritonitis as a complication of abdominal tuberculosis]. / Perforativnyi peritonit kak oslozhnenie abdominal'nogo tuberkuleza

In the paper, data on 502 patients with abdominal tuberculosis are reported, including 21--with perforative peritonitis due to the perforation of tuberculous intestinal ulcers. In its manifestations perforative peritonitis may show a latent or "an acute abdomen" course. Among 12 operated patients there were 5 lethal issues. Such high postoperative mortality is accounted for late terms of establishing the correct diagnosis and admission of patients in a poor and hopeless condition.
