AIMS: Synovial sarcoma is a rare but aggressive variant of soft-tissue sarcoma. Literature is sparse and reported mostly from the West. We analysed the clinical profiles and prognostic factors of extremity synovial sarcoma patients in order to study their clinical journey. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a retrospective analysis. All patients with extremity synovial sarcoma treated between 1992 and 2020 were included. Patients with metastases at presentation were excluded. A descriptive analysis of demographic and clinicopathological features of patients undergoing limb salvage surgery (LSS) or amputation was carried out. Overall survival and disease-free survival were calculated for the entire cohort as well as for the LSS and amputation groups. Factors prognostic for survival were identified. RESULTS: In total, 157 patients had localised extremity synovial sarcoma. Predominantly, young adults (median 31 years) and males (61%) were affected. Over 70% of patients presented after recurrence or unplanned surgeries. Sixty-seven per cent of tumours were >5 cm, 69% were deep and 23% involved bone. The limb salvage rate was 64%. In the LSS group, adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy were given to 72% and 68% of patients, respectively. In the amputation group, 72% of patients received adjuvant chemotherapy. In a median follow-up of 59 months, 39.4% of patients had recurrences, the majority (61.2%) were systemic. Five-year overall survival and disease-free survival were 53.4% and 49.8%, respectively. Overall survival was 63.9% and 29.7% in the LSS and amputation groups, respectively. On multivariate analysis, tumour size, depth, omission of radiotherapy and bone invasion were found to be the adverse prognostic factors. CONCLUSION: This is one of the largest studies on extremity synovial sarcoma. Mostly males and young adults were affected. The limb salvage rate was 64%, despite most being referred after unplanned surgery. Almost 70% of patients received radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Overall survival was inferior in the amputation group. Tumour size >5 cm, depth and bone invasion were negative, whereas adjuvant radiotherapy was a positive prognostic factor for survival. Chemotherapy had no impact on survival.

RESUMEN

Prolonged exposure to benzene, a prevalent volatile organic compound (VOC), at concentrations found in smoke, triggers hyperglycemia, and inflammation in mice. Corroborating this with existing epidemiological data, we show a strong correlation between environmental benzene exposure and metabolic impairments in humans. To uncover the underlying mechanisms, we employed a controlled exposure system and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), revealing rapid blood glucose surges and disturbances in energy homeostasis in mice. These effects were attributed to alterations in the hypothalamic transcriptome, specifically impacting insulin and immune response genes, leading to hypothalamic insulin resistance and neuroinflammation. Moreover, benzene exposure activated microglial transcription characterized by heightened expression of IKKß/NF-κB-related genes. Remarkably, selective removal of IKKß in immune cells or adult microglia in mice alleviated benzene-induced hypothalamic gliosis, and protected against hyperglycemia. In summary, our study uncovers a crucial pathophysiological mechanism, establishing a clear link between airborne toxicant exposure and the onset of metabolic diseases.

Although mitochondrial DNA respiration circuit abnormalities are among the most common metabolic diseases to manifest in children, identification can be difficult due to their medical variability. Given the multisystem nature of the condition and its diverse and generalized manifestations, making a final diagnosis often takes a long time. Within this summary, they give an in-depth account of the physical signs of adolescent Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Disorders (MRCDs),analyze the available diagnostics and treatment possibilities, and emphasize current developments in this field of study. During the discovery of fresh biomarkers and the development of next generation sequencing (NGS) technology, extensive research over the years has considerably enhanced the regularity that precise diagnoses are produced. Given the intricate nature of mitochondrial DNA biology and its double genomic investments, Sequencing has made significant progress in identifying the genetic basis of Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Disorders (MRCDs). Research studies have been created employing a variety of various methods of therapy in an effort to shift the goal on therapy that is mainly curative to possibly having a positive impact on the natural course of the trouble. That's because there is gained a greater awareness of the underlying causes of this category of ailments.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the impact of dwell time deviation constraint (DTDC) on the quality of IPSA-optimized treatment plans in comparison with graphical plans using plan quality scores (PQS). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Seventy optimized plans (graphical & IPSA with different DTDC values) of ten cervical cancer patients were generated. Various DVH parameters like D90, V100, V150, V200, V300 were compared to evaluate the impact of DTDC on target coverage and high dose regions inside target for different plans. Similarly, for the OAR dose, values of D2cc were compared. Various planning parameters like CI, COIN, DHI, DNR, ODI, EI and gain factor (GF) for different OARs were calculated. Based on these indices a plan quality score (PQS) was formulated and calculated. PQS values were used to see the impact of DTDC on plan quality of IPSA in comparison with dosimetric quality of graphical plan. RESULTS: We have found that target coverage is similar for IPSA and graphically optimized treatment plans. However, dose homogeneity was improved in IPSA compared to graphical optimization whereas conformality was better in graphically optimized plans. OAR dose was less in IPSA plans. High-dose regions inside the target were also reduced in IPSA comparatively. However, IPSA plans optimized with various values of DTDC did not necessarily reduce high-dose regions beyond 0.6. Plan quality scores (PQS) were 6.31, 6.31, 6.34, and 6.17 for the graphically optimized plan, IPSA with DTDC values of 0.0, 0.4, and 1.0 respectively. CONCLUSION: We found that IPSA is dosimetrically advantageous over graphical optimization. IPSA with a DTDC value of 0.4 improved overall plan quality. However, DTDC value beyond 0.6 produces dosimetrically sub-optimal plans hence the use of DTDC should be very selective and limited.

Robot-assisted surgeries allows the surgeons to operate using remote-controlled robotic arms that are more effective in comparison to conventional (open/laparoscopic) surgeries. However, there is substantial lack of evidence on the effectiveness of robot-assisted surgeries in low to middle income countries (LMICs) like India. A study was conducted with an aim to evaluate the average length of stay (ALOS), Operative time, economic status (patient's) and cost borne by the patient (patient's expenditure) for undergoing robot-assisted surgeries and conventional surgeries. Grouping of the surgical procedures was done wherein patients who were treated with robot-assisted surgical procedures were placed in Group-01 whereas those treated with conventional surgical procedures were placed under Group-02. Comparative evaluation of the two surgical groups revealed that in robot-assisted surgical procedure, the ALOS was less (18.43 vs. 23.14 days, p = 0.06) whereas operative time (316.7 vs. 252.63 min, p = 0.05) and patient's expenditure were more (INR 70,654.29 vs. INR 41,314.73, p = 0.00). However, there was no significant difference between the economic statuses of patients in both groups. The study concluded that in this era of rapidly expanding health care scenario; targeted, regular, rigorous and repeated training programmes in future may shorten the learning curve thereby paving a way to reduce the cost as well as the operative time of robot-assisted surgeries in LMICs.

INTRODUCTION: Various in vitro and in vivo animal studies have shown that adenosine triphosphate (ATP) has a stimulatory role and nitric oxide (NO) has an inhibitory role in modulating bladder contractility. However, it is not known what happens to the urinary levels of ATP and NO in humans with underactive bladder (UAB). METHODS: In this prospective case-control study, we compared ATP and NO levels in twenty six male patients of UAB with a bladder contractility index (BCI) of < 100 and 18 healthy male volunteers without any lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). RESULTS: The mean urinary ATP levels were significantly lower in cases compared to controls (546.1 ± 37.3 pg/µl vs. 610.7 ± 24.9 pg/µl, p value < 0.001) and the mean NO levels were significantly higher in cases compared to controls (1233.4 ± 91.2 pg/µl vs. 1126.3 ± 91.3.4 pg/µl, p value < 0.001). The mean NO/ATP ratio in cases was significantly higher than that of controls (2.26 ± 0.2 vs. 1.84 ± 0.18, p value < 0.000). Using receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis, we noted the area under the curve (AUC) for NO/ATP ratio to be 0.91 in the diagnosis of cases. A cut-off value of 2.06 for NO/ATP ratio had sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy of 88.5%, 88.9% and 88.6%, respectively, in diagnosing patients with UAB. CONCLUSION: Patients with UAB have significantly higher levels of urinary NO and decreased levels of urinary ATP. Urinary NO/ATP levels can be considered as a noninvasive alternate test for diagnosing bladder underactivity.

BACKGROUND: Diagnostic methods for Covid-19 have improved, both in speed and availability. Because of atypical and asymptomatic carriage of the virus and nosocomial spread within institutions, timely diagnosis remains a challenge. Machine learning models trained on blood test results have shown promise in identifying cases of Covid-19. AIMS: To train and validate a machine learning model capable of differentiating Covid-19 positive from negative patients using routine blood tests and assess the model's accuracy against atypical and asymptomatic presentations. DESIGN AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of medical admissions to our institution during March and April 2020. Participants were categorized into Covid-19 positive or negative groups based on clinical, radiological features or nasopharyngeal swab. A machine learning model was trained on laboratory parameters and validated for accuracy, sensitivity and specificity and externally validated at an unconnected establishment. RESULTS: An Ensemble Bagged Tree model was trained on data collected from 405 patients (212 Covid-19 positive) producing an accuracy of 81.79% (95% confidence interval (CI) 77.53-85.55%), the sensitivity of 85.85% (CI 80.42-90.24%) and specificity of 76.65% (CI 69.49-82.84%). Accuracy was preserved for atypical and asymptomatic subgroups. Using an external data set for 226 patients (141 Covid-19 positive) accuracy of 76.82% (CI 70.87-82.08%), sensitivity of 78.38% (CI 70.87-84.72%) and specificity of 74.12% (CI 63.48-83.01%) was achieved. CONCLUSION: A machine learning model using routine laboratory parameters can detect atypical and asymptomatic presentations of Covid-19 and might be an adjunct to existing screening measures.

The interaction of copolymer L61 i.e., (EO)2(PO)32(EO)2 (where EO and PO are ethylene and propylene oxides, respectively) with surfactant SDS (sodium dodecylsulfate) in relation to their self-aggregation, dynamics and microstructures has been physicochemically studied in detail employing the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS), and Freeze-Fracture Transmission Electron Microscopy (FF-TEM) methods. The NMR self-diffusion study indicated a synergistic interaction between SDS and L61 forming L61-SDS mixed complex aggregates, and deuterium (2H) NMR pointed out the nonspherical nature of these aggregates with increasing [L61]. EPR spectral analysis of the motional parameters of 5-doxyl steraric acid (5-DSA) as a spin probe provided information on the microviscosity of the local environment of the L61-SDS complex aggregates. SANS probed the geometrical aspects of the SDS-L61 assemblies as a function of both [L61] and [SDS]. Progressive evolution of the mixed-aggregate geometries from globular to prolate ellipsoids with axial ratios ranging from 2 to 10 with increasing [L61] was found. Such morphological changes were further corroborated with the results of 2H NMR and FF-TEM measurements. The strategy of the measurements, and data analysis for a concerted conclusion have been presented.

The present study was conducted to assess the impacts of loose house roofing designs and materials on modulation of micro-climate of the cow shed and its influences on production and reproduction performance of lactating crossbred Jersey cows. The control group (T0) was kept in a traditional single-slope asbestos roof shed and treatment group (T1) at a specially designed open-ridge ventilated, double-slope thatch roof shed. Lactation stage, average daily milk yield, and average parity at the beginning of the experiment were kept similar between T0 and T1 cows. The specifically designed T1 shed had significantly (P < 0.05) lower temperature, humidity, and thermal humidity index as compared to the traditional shed (T0). The T1 shed was cooler and more comfortable than T0. Housing significantly (P < 0.05) influenced cardinal physiological parameters of resident cows. Body temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, and discomfort index were significantly (P < 0.05) higher in T0 as compared to those in T1 cows. Improved housing significantly (P < 0.01) influenced milk yield, composition, quality, and udder health of cows. Daily milk yield depending on parity, monthly milk yield, milk fat, SNF, and protein were significantly (P < 0.01) higher in T1 than those in T0 cows. The milk somatic cell count, modified California mastitis test score, electrical conductivity, and pH of milk samples of T0 cows were significantly (P < 0.0) higher than those of T1. Effect of housing type, parity, and interaction of housing × parity did not cause any significant (P > 0.05) differences in reproductive traits such as service period, break period, calving interval, pregnancy rate, and other cow fertility parameters. Post-partum body condition score and body weight loss did not differ significantly (P > 0.05) between the two groups; however, more loss occurred in T0 than T1. The estimated net profit from housing of cows (N = 20) in a comfortable shed was 2200 kg milk per annum, i.e., 110 kg/cow/annum. The study concluded that a central open-ridge ventilated, double-slope thatched roof design created a favorable micro-environment and it significantly affected cows' comfort index; thermo-comfortable housing significantly reduced the heat stress-oriented drop in milk yield and decline in milk composition, and improved udder health and other milk production traits; however, its impact was non-significant on reproduction and fertility traits in Jersey crossbred cows.

BACKGROUND: "Avians" often show efficient oxygen management to meet the demands of their metabolism. Hemoglobin, a transporter protein consists of four non-covalently linked subunits contain haem binding hydrophobic pocket serves as a site of allosteric cooperativity. The physiology and anatomy of both mammals and avian are functionally different, in birds, the respiratory system formed by small air sacs that serve as tidal ventilation for the lungs and have no significant exchange across their cells. Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) a tropical and non-migrating species and it is easily adapted to living in disturbed habitat. The sequence analysis reveals that α and ß chain of parakeet hemoglobin highly similar grey lag goose and bar headed goose hemoglobin respectively. Thus it has been tempted us to study in to analyzing the sequence and structural comparison of this hemoglobin to find out the physiological capabilities of parakeet hemoglobin. OBJECTIVE: The structure determination studies of parakeet hemoglobin by X-ray diffraction. The sequence and structure are compared with goose, chicken and human Hb, emphasizing the role of amino acids in the subunit contacts that facilitate survival by low oxygen demand. METHODS: The Hb was purified and crystallized by hanging drop vapor diffusion method using poly ethylene glycol (PEG) 3350 and sodium phosphate buffer. X-ray diffracted data set was collected at 3Å resolution, the data was processed in Automar and molecular replacement, refinements, model building was carried out in CCP4i program package. The final refined model was deposited in protein data bank with accession id 2zfb. RESULTS: The tertiary structure of Parakeet Hb is compared with the met form of BHG Hb (1c40) and oxy form of GLG (1faw) and oxy form of human Hbs (1hho). Superimposing parakeet Hb α1ß1 subunit with 'R' state human Hb shows an r.m.s.d of 0.98 Å and for BHG and GLG Hb, the r.m.s.d shows 0.72 and 0.61 Å. The replacement of α115Asp in parakeet Hb as against the α115Glu in human Hb results in the movement of GH corners. The amino acid proline at α50 present only in Parakeet Hb and Chicken HbD and not present in any other avian family which includes human Hb. The residue α78Thr located in EF corner loop region, which slightly diverge when superimposing with human and BHG Hb and also replacement of α113Asn present only in Parakeet Hb placed near the FG helix corner. CONCLUSION: The present study describes the structure determination of parakeet hemoglobin and its structural features to understand its oxygen affinity characteristics. The crystals were obtained by buffered low-salt conditions, like those of chicken HbD, carbonmonoxy and cyanomet human Hb. The present study reveals several interesting and unique modifications in the finer aspects of the quaternary structure of parakeet Hb, which are involved in oxygen affinity characteristics and the α1ß1 subunit contacts. Crystallization of parakeet Hb with allosteric effectors like Inositol pentaphosphate may bring further understanding of the influence of physiological and environmental factors on the quaternary structure.

PURPOSE: To explore the possibility of revising the spinal cord tolerance dose in Simultaneously Integrated Boost (SIB) intensity modulated treatment plan of locally advanced head and neck (H&N) cancer and assessment of achieved planning gain due to the revision. In SIB regimen, the Organ at Risk (OARs) tolerance dose is equally distributed throughout the treatment. Clinicians have usually considered the spinal cord tolerance to be the same as in conventional technique. However, in SIB fractionation regimen with intensity modulation treatment, the spinal cord may receive a physical dose of 45Gy, with much lesser dose per fraction than 2Gy per fraction. So when the dose of spinal cord is distributed throughout the treatment, the tolerance dose limit of physical dose can be considered higher than the usual conventional dose limits. In this study, an attempt has been made to explore the possibilities of dose escalation and treatment planning benefits while exploiting this "Window of Opportunity (WoO)" of increase in spinal cord and Planning Risk Volume (PRV) spinal cord tolerance dose. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 12 patients CT data set along with approved structure set of H&N cancer used for treatment planning in. Three independent SIB VMAT plans named as SPC, SPR and SPDE were generated for the 12 patients. First plan (SPC) was generated by considering standard spinal cord tissue constraint of maximum dose of 45Gy and PRV spinal cord maximum dose 50Gy as per QUANTEC summary and second plan (SPR) was generated considering spinal cord tissue constraint of maximum dose 52.50Gy and PRV spinal cord maximum dose 56.35Gy while optimization and dose calculation. The objectives for rest of the Organ at Risk (OAR) were kept same in both the plans during optimization and dose calculation. The SPC plan was copied for creation of third plan (SPDE) in which dose was escalated by increasing dose per fraction for target volumes such that dose to spinal cord reached a maximum dose of 52.50Gy and PRV spinal cord maximum dose of 56.35Gy. In this plan there have been changes to only dose per fraction, however dose optimization and dose calculation have not been performed. Radiobiological parameters TCP and NTCP were also calculated by using indigenously developed software. RESULTS: Considering the increase of spinal cord tolerance dose as "window of opportunity", a sufficient escalation in physical dose, Biological Effective Dose (BED) and Tumor Control Probability (TCP) was observed for all target volumes with acceptable level of NTCP values. CONCLUSION: Sufficient dose escalation and increased in TCP for target volumes or effective planning benefits can be achieved by revising the spinal cord tolerance dose in intensity modulated SIB treatment of locally advanced H&N cancers.

This work was done to systematically elucidate the corrosion behavior of austenitic stainless steel subjected to various degree of cold deformation (10 %, 20 % & 30 %). The experiments were performed in phosphate buffer saline (PBS) solution having different concentrations of bovine serum albumin (0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 g L-1). Potentiodynamic polarization tests and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis were performed to obtain the corrosion parameters. Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to determine the surface morphologies and chemical compositions of the surface films. Contact angle analysis was also used to detect the hydrophilic character of sample surfaces. The BSA had a considerable effect of inhibition on the corrosion of SSs in annealed as well as in deformed state due to its adsorption on surface of steel. For annealed samples, at 4.0 g L-1BSA concentration, the corrosion resistance was drastically decreased but interestingly not for sample with more than 10 % deformation and the concentration effect of BSA is also not very significant after 0.5 g L-1 for deformed surfaces. The breakdown potential for 30 % deformed sample is quite higher in presence of BSA even at 4.0 g L-1 while it is lowest for annealed samples in the same condition. The variation in contact angle with deformation is very less after adsorption of BSA. On the basis of the obtained results, mechanism aspect for corrosion of steel in presence of protein is also deliberated.

Mastitis in dairy cattle is the most common management disorder that causes higher economic losses by lowering production and quality of milk leads to substantial economical loss. The aim of this article was to review worldwide important advances in strategies to control mastitis for production augmentation in dairy cattle. Many scientists worked to identify effective strategies to control mastitis caused by Streptococcus agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus, and others. It is necessary to identify mechanisms of infection, define clinical and subclinical states of disease, determine exposure time, and identify pathogen-specific characteristics. Evolvement of management strategies that incorporated hygienic procedures (animal, floor, and milkman), post milking standing period of animal and strategic use of antibiotic or herbal therapy at dry-off, nutritional supplementation, fly control, body condition score optimization, etc., resulted in widespread control of mastitis. The udder, teat of animal, scientific management of milking, automatic milking procedure, genetic selection are considered as important factors to control mastitis. As farm management changed, scientists were directed to redefine control of mastitis caused by opportunistic pathogens of environmental sources and have sought to explore management strategies which will maintain animal well-being in a judicial way. Although significant advances in mastitis management have been made changing herd structure, changing climatic scenario and more rigorous milk processing standards ensure that mastitis will remain important issue for future research.

BACKGROUND: Heart failure is a prevalent condition associated with frequent and costly hospital admissions. Hospitalizations are primarily related to worsening fluid retention and often require admission for decongestion with intravenous diuretics. OBJECTIVE: To assess the safety of an outpatient intravenous diuresis service for heart failure patients, and its impact on emergency admissions and the cost of treatment. METHODS: We conducted a prospective observational cohort registry study on patients referred to the diuretic lounge at our acute hospital between May 2017 and April 2018. RESULTS: We analysed 245 patients treated in the diuretic lounge, of which 190 (77.6%) avoided hospitalization or any adverse events during the 60 days of follow up (77.6% vs. 22.4%; P < 0.001). The diuretic lounge service resulted in a significant decrease in emergency heart failure admissions compared to the previous 12 months (823 vs. 715 per annum; 68.6 ± 10.1 vs. 59.6 ± 14 per month; P = 0.04), and a numerical reduction in readmission rates (17.3% vs. 16.2%). The 13.1% decrease in admissions lead to financial savings of £315 497 per annum and £2921 per admission avoided. During the same time period, at the other acute hospital site in our trust, where no diuretic lounge service is available, the number of admissions did not significantly change (457 vs. 450 per annum; 37.5 ± 7.0 vs. 38.1 ± 7.6 per month; P = 0.81). CONCLUSION: Ambulatory administration of intravenous diuretics reduces emergency admissions and is a safe and cost-effective alternative to treat acute decomposition in heart failure patients.

Present study was carried out with the objective of investigating the role of green synthesized nano Se (GNS) in growth performance, digestibility of minerals, immunity, stress alleviation, antioxidant status, and body Se content of broiler chicken raised under hot and humid environment with respect to market nano Se (MNS) and inorganic Se. The experimental design was 3 × 3 factorial, in which three levels (0.15, 0.20, and 0.25 ppm) and three sources (inorganic, green nano, and market nano) of Se resulted in nine treatments viz. IS-0.15, GNS-0.15, MNS-0.15, IZ-0.20, GNS-0.20, MNS-0.20, IS-0.25, GNS-0.25, and MNS-0.25 (IS: inorganic Se, GNS: green nano Se, MNS: market nano Se). A total of 432 broiler chicken were divided among nine treatments with six replicates of birds per treatment (8 birds/replicate). Results of present study revealed significantly better growth performance of birds supplemented with 0.25 ppm nano Se. The supplementation of 0.25 ppm nano Se improved the immune response and lymphoid organ development of birds. Significantly higher Se and nitrogen digestibility coefficients, serum antioxidant activity and decline of Heterophil: Lymphocyte ratio and expression of HSP70 gene were observed in birds supplemented with 0.25 ppm Se and nano source of Se compared to inorganic Se. Significantly higher Se concentration in liver and breast muscle and higher serum Se concentration were observed in birds fed 0.25 ppm nano Se. The liver Se concentration was much higher than that of breast muscle. However, the nano Se synthesized by green method in this study did not differ significantly from the chemically synthesized nano Se. It was concluded that 0.25 ppm Se and nano form of Se are superior to lower levels and inorganic form of Se, respectively, in improving the immunity, growth, antioxidant status, and in stress alleviation of broiler chicken. However, GNS is equally efficient as chemically synthesized MNS.

To find out the effect of reducing energy intake during dry period on milk production, udder health, and body condition, the experiment was conducted on 14 Jersey crossbred cows during whole dry period and continued up to 120 days of lactation. Reduction in energy intake was done during far-off period for each dry cow of treatment group as compared to control group. Statistically analyzed data revealed that overall significantly (P < 0.01) lower DMI and WI were recorded in control than treatment group. Overall significantly (P < 0.01) higher total milk production was found in treatment than control group. Overall significantly (P < 0.01) lower milk SCC, MCMT, pH, and EC were found in treatment than control group. Nonsignificant difference in milk fat, SNF, total solid, total protein, and fat:protein ratio was found. Overall significantly (P < 0.01) better quality milk (MBRT) was found in treatment than control groups. BCS during dry period and at calving was significantly (P < 0.01) different between groups. Significantly (P < 0.01) higher plasma NEFA concentration was estimated in control than treatment groups in all stages. No significant difference was found for plasma concentrations of glucose, urea, and total protein. The coefficients of correlation indicated significant (P < 0.01) correlation among BCS, milk production, milk SCC, MCMT, pH, and EC. It can be concluded that reducing energy intake during far-off dry period can lead to achieve optimum BCS at calving. Suitable BCS at calving was beneficial to get higher milk production with improved quality, better maintenance of udder health and body condition of Jersey crossbred cows at tropical lower Gangetic region.

The purpose of the present study was to elucidate the effects of feeding flaxseed meal (FSM) and turmeric rhizome powder (TRP) supplementation on tissue lipid profile, lipid metabolism, health indices, oxidative stability, and physical properties of broiler chicken meat. The 100 g FSM along with 10.0 g TRP supplementation significantly increased the ω-3 PUFA, particularly ALA, EPA, DPA, and DHA of broiler chicken meat due to the corresponding increase ∆9 and Δ5 + Δ6 desaturase activities. The increased activities of the desaturases resulted in significantly better health indices of the broiler chicken meat. The feeding of 100 g FSM along with 10.0 g TRP supplementation reduced the atherogenic and thrombogenic indices of broiler chicken meat. The 100 g FSM feeding reduced the oxidative stability, water holding capacity, extract release volume of broiler chicken meat and increased drip loss, whereas, 10.0 g TRP supplementation reversed these negative effects of FSM.

Renal imaging is an essential investigative tool and preliminary task for determining a suitable sanative option for the treatment of kidney cancer. In recent decades, with the increasing usage of abdominal imaging, there is an upsurge in the number of adrenal incidentalomas. Among these accidentally revealed lesions, most of them are complex that warrant immediate aggressive treatment planning due to their malignant potential. The guidelines given by the American Urological Association (AUA), American College of Radiology (ACR), and European Association of Urology (EAU) vary concerning the use of ideal preliminary imaging modality to investigate the patients with suspected flank pain, hematuria, or palpable mass in the abdomen. Initially, an effort has been made to discriminate cystic and solid renal lesions which are helpful in separating benign and malignant nature as different imaging patterns are observed on distinct imaging modalities for solid and cystic renal lesions. Various attempts have been made to improve the accuracy of cancer diagnosis by employing different imaging modalities. The primary aim of this article is to study the capabilities of different imaging techniques for detecting and differentiating solid and cystic lesions to facilitate treatment planning based on computed tomography (CT), ultrasonography (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Further, the advantages, disadvantages, new advancements, and future scope of each of the imaging modality have also been highlighted so that one can make a correct choice of imaging technique for diagnosis of a specific type of lesion. Additionally, some recommendations have also been mentioned by listing the requirements for the perfect imaging modality. Graphical abstract.
