RESUMEN

14 workers in the 1, 8-diaminonaphthalene workshop of a chemical company in Nantong City had symptoms or signs of varying degrees of pruritus and pigmentation of the face, neck and waist. Pathological examination of skin biopsies showed hyperkeratosis, the basal cells were liquefied and denatured. Seven workers were eventually diagnosed with occupational melanosis. To explore the causes of occupational melanosis caused by exposure to 1, 8-dinitronaphthalene and 1, 8-diaminonaphthalene, and to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of occupational melanosis in the future, this paper reported 14 cases of melanosis in the skin of workers in chemical industry.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the clinical and biochemical discriminants of hyperandrogenism in functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA). Methods: From January to September 2022, a total of 56 patients with FHA group in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University outpatient clinic were included in this retrospective cross-sectional analysis. According to the clinical or biochemical features of hyperandrogenism, FHA patients can be divided into two subgroups, namely hyperandrogenic FHA and non-hyperandrogenic FHA. Explore the differences and its significances between hyperandrogenic FHA and non-hyperandrogenic FHA by comparing anthropometry, reproductive hormones, AMH, ultrasonic manifestation, the scores of eating attitude test, depression questionnaire and anxiety scale respectively and analyzing their correlations. Results: The age of 56 FHA patients was 15-32(23.36±4.90) years, and body mass index(BMI) was (18.91±2.49) kg/m2. The age of hyperandrogenic FHA and non-hyperandrogenic FHA was (21.76±4.40) and (24.05±5.00) (P=0.109) years old respectively, and BMI was (19.14±3.15 )and (18.81±2.18) kg/m2 (P=0.702). Compared to the non-hyperandrogenic FHA, the AMH (6.46 and 3.63 ng/ml, P=0.025) and PRL (278.78 and 149.46 mU/ml, P=0.002) levels were higher in hyperandrogenic FHA group. There was no significant difference between the hyperandrogenic and non-hyperandrogenic FHA group in body composition.GAD-7 (r=0.455, P=0.005) and PHQ-9 (r=0.664, P<0.001) were correlated with EAT-26 scores in non-hyperandrogenic FHA group, but no significant correlation was shown between PHQ-9 (r=0.091, P=0.766)、GAD-7 (r=0.304, P=0.313) and EAT-26 in hyperandrogenic FHA group. Conclusions: Some patients with FHA had clinical manifestations of hyperandrogenism and mildly elevated AMH and PRL, with underlying PCOS endocrine characteristics.

RESUMEN

Purpose To explore the regulatory relationship between Chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1) and Angiomotin (AMOT)-p130, and reveal the role of AMOT-p130 in gastric cancer (GC). Methods Immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze the expression of CLIC1 and AMOT-p130 in GC tissues and adjacent tissues. The expression of AMOT-p130 upon CLIC1 silencing was analyzed using RT-PCR, western blot, and immunofluorescence in GC cells. Transwell and wound-healing assays were performed to detect migration and invasion in GC cells. The changes in EMT-related proteins were detected using western blot. Results Our study found that high CLIC1 expression was significantly associated with low AMOT-p130 expression in GC tissues. Silencing CLIC1 expression in MGC-803 cells (MGC-803 CLIC1 KO) and AGS cells (AGS CLIC1 KO) decreased the invasive and migratory abilities of tumor cells, which were induced by the upregulation of AMOT-p130. Subsequently, we demonstrated that AMOT-p130 inhibits the invasive and migratory abilities of GC cells by inhibiting epithelial–mesenchymal transition. Conclusions Our study suggests that AMOT-p130 could inhibit epithelial–mesenchymal transition in GC cells. CLIC1 may participate in the metastatic progression of GC by downregulating the expression of AMOT-p130 (AU)

RESUMEN

Objective: The present study was carried out to explore the tone production ability of the Mandarin-speaking children with cochlear implants (CI) by using an artificial neural network model and to examine the potential contributing factors underlining their tone production performance. The results of this study might provide useful guidelines for post-operative rehabilitation processes of pediatric CI users. Methods: Two hundred and seventy-eight prelingually deafened children who received unilateral CI participated in this study. As controls, 170 similarly-aged children with normal hearing (NH) were recruited. A total of 36 Chinese monosyllabic words were selected as the tone production targets. Vocal production samples were recorded and the fundamental frequency (F0) contour of each syllable was extracted using an auto-correlation algorithm followed by manual correction. An artificial neural network was created in MATLAB to classify the tone production. The relationships between tone production and several demographic factors were evaluated. Results: Pediatric CI users produced Mandarin tones much less accurately than did the NH children (58.8% vs. 91.5% correct). Tremendous variability in tone production performance existed among the CI children. Tones 2 and 3 were produced less accurately than tones 1 and 4 for both groups. For the CI group, all tones when in error tended to be judged as tone 1. The tone production accuracy was negatively correlated with age at implantation and positively correlated with CI use duration with correlation coefficients (r) of -0.215 (P=0.003) and 0.203 (P=0.005), respectively. Age was one of the determinants of tonal ability for NH children. Conclusions: For children with severe to profound hearing loss, early implantation and persistent use of CI are beneficial to their tone production development. Artificial neural network is a convenient and reliable assessment tool for the development of tonal ability of hearing-impaired children who are in the rehabilitation processes that focus on speech and language expression.
