RESUMEN

The analysis of the state of two patients with congenital cerebral hernias was carried out, which made it possible to establish differences in the effect of hernias on the state of the body. In the first case, the hernia is localized in the nasal cavity, and after its removal, the postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage was stopped by a flap of the mucous membrane from the opposite side of the nasal septum. In the second case clinical analysis and computed tomography made it possible to state that the hernia was in the retromaxillary space and did not affect the patient's condition. Computed tomography shows signs of moderate blood pressure on the adjacent formations, and removal of the hernia and stopping the subsequent CSF leakage were impossible. The presented observations demonstrate an ambiguous approach to resolving the issue of surgical intervention in such cases.

RESUMEN

This article was designed to report a rare case of oropharyngeal chondroma in a 31 year-old male patient. Computed tomography revealed an encapsulated cystic-solid tissue mass having the clear-cut contours with multiple diffuse foci of calcification in the tissue thickness. The neoplasm was morphologically characterized as a chondroma. The tumour was removed with the use of the modified Lauers-Balon procedure with the dissection of the lower jaw.

RESUMEN

The objective of the present study was the analysis of the health status of 20 patients presenting with histologically verified paranasal sinuses mycetomas (fungus balls) with special reference to CT-semiotics characteristic of the fungal ball as early as during the pre-verification period. The surgical strategy for the management of this condition has been substantiated. It is concluded that the final verification of the pathological process in question is possible only based on the results of the histological studies.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: to optimize the diagnosis of different stages of Paget's disease, by determining the extent of bone structural lesions in the cerebral and visceral cranium on the basis of computed tomography data. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Computed tomographic data were assessed by keeping in mind the structure, density, outlines, shadow shapes of the described tumor-like disease and the state of involved bone structures. Twelve patients with histologically verified Paget's disease were examined. RESULTS: The findings allowed the high informative value of computed tomography in diagnosing different stages of Paget's disease to be estimated in bone structural lesions in the cerebral and visceral cranium and skull base. Also, the obtained computed tomography data permitted the tracing of the extent of the lesion in the area under study.
