RESUMEN

Studies on the mechanisms behind cumulus expansion and cumulus cell (CC) apoptosis are essential for understanding the mechanisms for oocyte maturation. Genes expressed in CCs might be used as markers for competent oocytes and/or embryos. In this study, both in vitro (IVT) and in vivo (IVO) mouse oocyte models with significant difference in cumulus expansion and CC apoptosis were used to identify and validate new genes regulating cumulus expansion and CC apoptosis of mouse oocytes. We first performed mRNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis using the IVT oocyte model to identify candidate genes. We then analyzed functions of the candidate genes by RNAi or gene overexpression to select the candidate cumulus expansion and CC apoptosis-regulating genes. Finally, we validated the cumulus expansion and CC apoptosis-regulating genes using the IVO oocyte model. The results showed that while Spp1, Sdc1, Ldlr, Ezr and Mmp2 promoted, Bmp2, Angpt2, Edn1, Itgb8, Cxcl10 and Agt inhibited cumulus expansion. Furthermore, Spp1, Sdc1 and Ldlr inhibited CC apoptosis. In conclusion, by using both IVT and IVO oocyte models, we have identified and validated a new group of cumulus expansion and/or apoptosis-regulating genes, which may be used for selection of quality oocytes/embryos and for elucidating the molecular mechanisms behind oocyte maturation.

Rapid, low-cost and high-specific diagnosis based on nucleic acid detection is pivotal in both detecting and controlling various infectious diseases, effectively curbing their spread. Moreover, the analysis of circulating DNA in whole blood has emerged as a promising noninvasive strategy for cancer diagnosis and monitoring. Although traditional nucleic acid detection methods are reliable, their time-consuming and intricate processes restrict their application in rapid field assays. Consequently, an urgent emphasis on point-of-care testing (POCT) of nucleic acids has arisen. POCT enables timely and efficient detection of specific sequences, acting as a deterrent against infection sources and potential tumor threats. To address this imperative need, it is essential to consolidate key aspects and chart future directions in POCT biosensors development. This review aims to provide an exhaustive and meticulous analysis of recent advancements in POCT devices for nucleic acid diagnosis. It will comprehensively compare these devices across crucial dimensions, encompassing their integrated structures, the synthesized nanomaterials harnessed, and the sophisticated detection principles employed. By conducting a rigorous evaluation of the current research landscape, this review will not only spotlight achievements but also identify limitations, offering valuable insights into the future trajectory of nucleic acid POCT biosensors. Through this comprehensive analysis, the review aspires to serve as an indispensable guide for fostering the development of more potent biosensors, consequently fostering precise and efficient POCT applications for nucleic acids.

Truncus arteriosus (TA) is a congenital heart defect where one main blood vessel emerges from the heart, instead of individual aorta and pulmonary artreries. Peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of a male infant with TA were reporogrammed using Sendai virus. The resultant iPSC line (NCHi015-A) displayed normal colony formation, expressed pluripotency markers, and differentiated into cells from three germ layers. NCHi015-A was matched to the patient's genetic profile, had normal karyotype, retained genetic variants in KMT2D and NOTCH1, and tested negative for reprogramming transgene. This iPSC line can be used for studying congenital heart defects associated with genetic variants in KMT2D and NOTCH1.

BACKGROUND: There is a lack of consensus on the use of postoperative bracing for lumbar degenerative conditions. Spine surgeons typically determine whether to apply postoperative braces based primarily on clinical experience rather than robust, evidence-based medical data. Thus, the present study sought to assess the impact of postoperative bracing on clinical outcomes, complications, and fusion rates following lumbar fusion surgery in patients with degenerative spinal conditions. METHODS: Only randomized controlled studies published between January 1990 and 20 October 2023 were included in this meta-analysis. The primary outcome measures consisted of pre- and postoperative assessments of the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analog scale (VAS) scores. Improvements in VAS and ODI scores were analyzed in the early postoperative period (1 month after operation) and at final follow-up, respectively. The analysis also encompassed fusion rates and complications. RESULTS: Five studies with 362 patients were included in the present meta-analysis. In the early postoperative period, the brace group showed a relatively better improvement in ODI scores compared with the no-brace group (19.47 vs 18.18), although this difference was not statistically significant (P = 0.34). Similarly, during the late postoperative period, the brace group demonstrated a slightly greater improvement in VAS scores in comparison to the no-brace group (4.05 vs 3.84), but this difference did not reach statistical significance (P = 0.30). The complication rate was relatively lower in the brace group compared with the no-brace group (14.9% vs 17.4%), although there was no statistical difference between the 2 groups (P = 0.83). Importantly, there were no substantial differences in fusion rates between patients with or without braces. CONCLUSION: The present meta-analysis revealed that the implementation of a brace following lumbar fusion surgery did not yield substantial differences in terms of postoperative pain relief, functional recovery, complication rates, or fusion rates when compared with cases where no brace was employed. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: This meta-analysis provides valuable insights into the clinical impact of postoperative bracing following lumbar fusion surgery for degenerative spinal conditions.

Information on long-term effects of postovulatory oocyte aging (POA) on offspring is limited. Whether POA affects offspring by causing oxidative stress (OS) and mitochondrial damage is unknown. Here, in vivo-aged (IVA) mouse oocytes were collected 9 h after ovulation, while in vitro-aged (ITA) oocytes were obtained by culturing freshly ovulated oocytes for 9 h in media with low, moderate, or high antioxidant potential. Oocytes were fertilized in vitro and blastocysts transferred to produce F1 offspring. F1 mice were mated with naturally bred mice to generate F2 offspring. Both IVA and the ITA groups in low antioxidant medium showed significantly increased anxiety-like behavior and impaired spatial and fear learning/memory and hippocampal expression of anxiolytic and learning/memory-beneficial genes in both male and female F1 offspring. Furthermore, the aging in both groups increased OS and impaired mitochondrial function in oocytes, blastocysts, and hippocampus of F1 offspring; however, it did not affect the behavior of F2 offspring. It is concluded that POA caused OS and damaged mitochondria in aged oocytes, leading to defects in anxiety-like behavior and learning/memory of F1 offspring. Thus, POA is a crucial factor that causes psychological problems in offspring, and antioxidant measures may be taken to ameliorate the detrimental effects of POA on offspring.

BACKGROUND: With advancements in the development of endoscopic technologies, the endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has been one of the gold-standard therapies for early gastric cancer. AIM: To investigate the efficacy and safety ESD in the treatment of early gastric cancer and precancerous lesions in the elderly patients. METHODS: Seventy-eight elderly patients with early gastric cancer and precancerous lesions admitted to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Qiqihar Medical University were selected and classified into two groups according to the different surgical therapies they received between January 2021 and June 2022. Among them, 39 patients treated with ESD were included in an experimental group, and 39 patients treated with endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) were included in a control group. We compared the basic intraoperative conditions, postoperative short-term recovery, long-term recovery effects and functional status of gastric mucosa between the two groups; the basic intraoperative conditions included lesion resection, intraoperative bleeding and operation time; the postoperative short-term recovery assessment indexes were length of hospital stay and incidence of surgical complications; and the long-term recovery assessment indexes were the recurrence rate at 1 year postoperatively and the survival situation at 1 year and 3 years postoperatively; and we compared the preoperative and predischarge serum pepsinogen I (PG I) and PG II levels and PG I/PG II ratio in the two groups before surgery and discharge. RESULTS: The curative resection rate and the rate of en bloc resection were higher in the experimental group than in the control group. The intraoperative bleeding volume was higher in the experimental group than in the control group. The operation time was longer in the experimental group than that in the control group, and the rate for base residual focus was lower in the experimental group than that of the control group, and the differences were all statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The length of hospital stay was longer in the experimental group than in the control group, and the incidence of surgical complications, 1-year postoperative recurrence rate and 3-year postoperative survival rate were lower in the experimental group than in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). However, the difference in the 1-year postoperative survival rate was not statistically significant between the two groups (P > 0.05). Before discharge, PG I and PG I/PG II ratio were elevated in both groups compared with the preoperative period, and the above indexes were higher in the experimental group than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (both P < 0.05). Moreover, before discharge, PG II level was lower in both groups compared with the preoperative period, and the level was lower in the experimental group than in the control group, and the differences were all statistically significant (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Compared with EMR, ESD surgery is more thorough. It reduces the rate of base residual focus, recurrence rate, surgical complications, and promotes the recovery of gastric cells and glandular function. It is safe and suitable for clinical application.

OBJECTIVE: This meta-analysis aims to refine the understanding of the optimal choice between different cage shapes in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) by systematically comparing perioperative data, radiological outcomes, clinical results, and complications associated with banana-shaped and straight bullet cages. METHODS: A meticulous literature search encompassing PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, China Knowledge Network, and Wanfang Data was executed up to October 5, 2023. Inclusion criteria focused on studies comparing banana-shaped and straight bullet cages in TLIF. The quality of included studies was assessed using appropriate tools such as the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) for nonrandomized studies. Rigorous evaluations were performed for radiographic outcomes, including disc height (DH), segmental lordosis (SL), lumbar lordosis (LL), subsidence, and fusion rates. Clinical outcomes were meticulously evaluated using visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and complications. RESULTS: The analysis incorporated 7 studies, involving 573 patients (297 with banana-shaped cages, 276 with straight cages), all with NOS ratings exceeding 5 stars. No statistically significant differences were observed in operative time, blood loss, or hospitalization between the 2 cage shapes. Banana-shaped cages exhibited greater changes in DH (p = 0.001), SL (p = 0.02), and LL (p = 0.01). Despite statistically higher changes in ODI for straight cages (26.33, p < 0.0001), the actual value remained similar to banana-shaped cages (26.15). Both cage types demonstrated similar efficacy in VAS, complication rates, subsidence, and fusion rates. CONCLUSION: Although banana-shaped cages can excel in restoring DH, SL, and LL, straight bullet cages can provide comparable functional improvements, pain relief, and complication rates.

The specific and sensitive detection of 17ß-estradiol (E2) is critical for diagnosing and treating numerous diseases, and aptamers have emerged as promising recognition probes for developing detection platforms. However, traditional long-sequence E2 aptamers have demonstrated limited clinical performance due to redundant structures that can affect their stability and recognition ability. There is thus an urgent need to further optimize the structure of the aptamer to build an effective detection platform for E2. In this work, we have designed a novel short aptamer that retains the key binding structure of traditional aptamers to E2 while eliminating the redundant structures. The proposed aptamer was evaluated for its binding properties using microscale thermophoresis, a gold nanoparticle-based colorimetric method, and electrochemical assays. Our results demonstrate that the proposed aptamer has excellent specific recognition ability for E2 and a high affinity with a dissociation constant of 92 nM. Moreover, the aptamer shows great potential as a recognition probe for constructing a highly specific and sensitive clinical estradiol detection platform. The aptamer-based electrochemical sensor enabled the detection of E2 with a linear range between 5 pg mL-1 and 10 ng mL-1 (R2 = 0.973), and the detection capability of a definite low concentration level was 5 pg mL-1 (S/N = 3). Overall, this novel aptamer holds great promise as a valuable tool for future studies on the role of E2 in various physiological and pathological processes and for developing sensitive and specific diagnostic assays for E2 detection in clinical applications.

OBJECTIVES: To identify an optimal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based classification for the severity of adenomyosis and explore the factors associated with disease severity (dysmenorrhea or menorrhagia). DESIGN AND PARTICIPANTS: Several classifications based on MRI have been proposed, and their phenotypes are reported to be associated with the severity of adenomyosis. However, a consensus classification based on MRI findings has not yet been reached. Our study was designed to retrospectively analyze data from a cohort of patients in the Affiliated Nanchong Central Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College from June 2017 to December 2021 before focused ultrasound ablation surgery (FUAS), to identify the optimal classification of adenomyosis severity from different classification criteria and explore factors associated with the presence of symptoms. METHODS: The proportions of disease severity among different classification groups were compared to obtain the one generating the most considerable chi-square value, which was identified as the optimal classification for informing disease severity. A logistic regression model was constructed to explore factors associated with disease severity. RESULTS: Classification of Kobayashi H (classification 4) concerning the affected areas and size (volumes of lesions) was recognized as the optimal one, which identified dysmenorrhea (χ2=18.550, p-value=0.002) and menorrhagia (χ2=15.060, p-value=0.010) secondary to adenomyosis. For volumes of uterine wall <2/3, the dysmenorrhea rate in subtype-4 was higher than that in subtype-1 (χ2=4.114, p-value=0.043), and the dysmenorrhea rate in subtype-5 was higher than that in subtype-2 (χ2=4.357, p-value=0.037). Age (OR=0.899, 95%CI=0.810~0.997, p-value=0.044) and external phenotype (OR=3.588, 95%CI=CI 1.018~12.643, p-value=0.047) were associated with dysmenorrhea. Concerning volumes of uterine wall ≥2/3, the menorrhagia rate in subtype-3 remarkably increased compared with that in subtype-6 (χ2=9.776, p-value=0.002), and internal phenotype was identified as an independent factor associated with menorrhagia (OR=1.706, 95%CI=1.131~2.573, p-value=0.011). LIMITATIONS: Patients in our study were all included before FUAS, which limited our result interpretation for the general patient population. CONCLUSIONS: MRI-based classification 4 is identified as an optimal classification for informing the severity of adenomyosis. The phenotype of classification is the main characteristic associated with disease severity.

BACKGROUND: A referenced MRI-based classification associated with focused ultrasound ablation surgery (FUAS) outcomes is lacking in adenomyosis. PURPOSE: To identify an MRI-based classification system for informing the FUAS outcomes. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. POPULATION: Patients with FUAS for adenomyosis, were divided into a training set (N = 643; 355 with post-FUAS gonadotropin-releasing hormone/levonorgestrel, 288 without post-FUAS therapy) and an external validation set (N = 135; all without post-FUAS therapy). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 1.5 T, turbo spin-echo T2-weighted imaging and single-shot echo-planar diffusion-weighted imaging sequences. ASSESSMENT: Five MRI-based adenomyosis classifications: classification 1 (C1) (diffuse, focal, and mild), C2 (intrinsic, extrinsic, intramural, and indeterminate), C3 (internal, adenomyomas, and external), C4 (six subtypes on areas [internal or external] and volumes [<1/3 or ≥2/3]), and C5 (internal [asymmetric or symmetric], external, intramural, full thickness [asymmetric or symmetric]) for FUAS outcomes (symptom relief and recurrence). STATISTICAL TESTS: The optimal classification was significantly associated with the most subtypes of FUAS outcomes. Relating to the timing of recurrence was measured using Cox regression analysis and median recurrence time was estimated by a Kaplan-Meier curve. A P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Dysmenorrhea relief and recurrence were only associated with C2 in training patients undergoing FUAS alone. Compared with other subtypes, the extrinsic subtype of C2 was significantly associated with dysmenorrhea recurrence in the FUAS group. Besides, the median dysmenorrhea recurrence time of extrinsic subtype was significantly shorter than that of other subtypes (42.0 months vs. 50.3 months). In the validation cohort, C2 was confirmed as the optimal system and its extrinsic subtype was confirmed to have a significantly shorter dysmenorrhea recurrence time than other subtypes. DATA CONCLUSION: Classification 2 can inform dysmenorrhea relief and recurrence in patients with adenomyosis undergoing FAUS only. Itsextrinsic subtype was associated with an earlier onset of dysmenorrhea recurrence after treatment. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 3 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 5.

In this paper, with the method of epidemic dynamics, we assess the spread and prevalence of COVID-19 after the policy adjustment of prevention and control measure in December 2022 in Taiyuan City in China, and estimate the excess population deaths caused by COVID-19. Based on the transmission mechanism of COVID-19 among individuals, a dynamic model with heterogeneous contacts is established to describe the change of control measures and the population's social behavior in Taiyuan city. The model is verified and simulated by basing on reported case data from November 8th to December 5th, 2022 in Taiyuan city and the statistical data of the questionnaire survey from December 1st to 23rd, 2022 in Neijiang city. Combining with reported numbers of permanent residents and deaths from 2017 to 2021 in Taiyuan city, we apply the dynamic model to estimate theoretical population of 2022 under the assumption that there is no effect of COVID-19. In addition, we carry out sensitivity analysis to determine the propagation character of the Omicron strain and the effect of the control measures. As a result of the study, it is concluded that after adjusting the epidemic policy on December 6th, 2022, three peaks of infection in Taiyuan are estimated to be from December 22nd to 31st, 2022, from May 10th to June 1st, 2023, and from September 5th to October 13th, 2023, and the corresponding daily peaks of new cases can reach 400 000, 44 000 and 22 000, respectively. By the end of 2022, excess deaths can range from 887 to 4887, and excess mortality rate can range from 3.06% to 14.82%. The threshold of the infectivity of the COVID-19 variant is estimated 0.0353, that is if the strain infectivity is above it, the epidemic cannot be control with the previous normalization measures.

Carbon emission control is an important aspect of regional sustainable development. However, there are few studies on predicting the impact of different socio-economic development strategies on carbon emissions under the premise of established government policy objectives, and then evaluating the degree of achievement of policy objectives. In order to research the effect of social and economic development strategies on carbon emissions, remote sensing land use data of Zhejiang Province from 2000 to 2020 were utilized in this paper to quantify carbon emissions, combined with Kaya identity and LMDI decomposition method, and multi-scenario carbon emissions simulation and prediction were carried out under the STIRPAT model framework. The results demonstrate that land use carbon emissions increased by four times in the last 20 years, and increased rapidly between 2000 and 2010, and became stable in recent years. Economic growth is the primary motivator; According to the existing economic development model, carbon emissions will peak and turn around in 2030; If appropriate economic transformation measures are taken to increase the proportion of low-carbon economic components, it is possible to achieve the development model of scenario 2 and scenario 3, and carbon emissions will reach the peak 2-5 years earlier. In general, this study offers a significant conclusion for the investigation of the connection between social and economic growth strategies and carbon emissions, and it can serve as a guide for the formation of government policy.

To analyze the status, hotspots, and frontiers of spine surgery in the geriatric using bibliometric method, the Web of Science Core Collection was searched for all papers concerning the use of spine surgery in the elderly from January 1, 1982 to August 3, 2022. VOSviewer and R software were used to perform the bibliometric analysis, which included retrieving the country, institution, author, journal, and keyword. A total of 663 articles were identified. The investigation revealed a growing number of publications over the past 20 years. The country with the highest number of publications was the United States (195 papers). The institution with the highest number of publications was the University of California (31 papers). H. Hassanzadeh and A. Jain were the most productive authors (14 publications), while R. A. Deyo was the most co-cited author. The journal with the most published papers was Spine (67 papers). According to Bradford Low, Spine, World Neurosurgery, and European Spine Journal were core journals in the field of geriatric spine surgery. The most recent trend topic was "readmission," "vertebroplasty," "kyphoplasty," "risk," "osteoporosis," "outcomes," "surgery," "complications," "scoliosis," and "management." In particular, osteoporosis has been a topic of attention in the field of geriatric spine surgery since 2005. Over time, research on spinal surgery in the elderly and allied topics has grown in importance and scope, indicating a tendency toward globalization. Researchers should pay more attention to the outcomes, complications, and management associated with spine surgery in the elderly.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and tumor-derived exosomes (TDEs) play an irreplaceable role in the metastatic cascade and preventing them from reaching distant organs via blood circulation helps to reduce the probability of cancer recurrence and metastasis. However, technologies that can simultaneously prevent CTCs and TDEs from reaching distant organs have not been thoroughly developed until now. Here, inspired by hemoperfusion, a pro-metastatic derivative eliminator (PMDE) is developed for the removal of both CTCs and TDEs from the peripheral blood, which also inhibits their biodistribution in distant organs. This device is designed with a dual antibody-modified immunosorbent filled into a capture column that draws peripheral blood out of the body to flow through the column to specifically capture CTCs and TDEs, followed by retransfusing the purified blood into the body. The PMDE can efficiently remove CTCs and TDEs from the peripheral blood and has excellent biocompatibility. Interestingly, the PMDE device can significantly inhibit the biodistribution of CTCs and TDEs in the lung and liver by scavenging them. This work provides a new perspective on anti-metastatic therapy and has broad prospects in clinical applications to prevent metastasis and recurrence.

RESUMEN

Histopathological images of colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) contain rich morphometric information that may predict patients' outcomes. However, to our knowledge, no study has reported any practical deep learning framework based on the histology images of CRLM, and their direct association with prognosis remains largely unknown. In this study, we developed a deep learning-based framework for fully automated tissue classification and quantification of clinically relevant spatial organization features (SOFs) in H&E-stained images of CRLM. The SOFs based risk-scoring system demonstrated a strong and robust prognostic value that is independent of the current clinical risk score (CRS) system in independent clinical cohorts. Our framework enables fully automated tissue classification of H&E images of CRLM, which could significantly reduce assessment subjectivity and the workload of pathologists. The risk-scoring system provides a time- and cost-efficient tool to assist clinical decision-making for patients with CRLM, which could potentially be implemented in clinical practice.

Alagille syndrome (ALGS) is a multisystem disease with high variability in clinical features. ALGS is predominantly caused by pathogenic variants in the Notch ligand JAG1. An iPSC line, NCHi011-A, was generated from a ALGS patient with complex cardiac phenotypes consisting of pulmonic valve and branch pulmonary artery stenosis. NCHi011-A is heterozygous for a single base duplication causing a frameshift in the JAG1 gene. This iPSC line demonstrates normal cellular morphology, expression of pluripotency markers, trilineage differentiation potential, and identity to the source patient. NCHi011-A provides a resource for modeling ALGS and investigating the role of Notch signaling in the disease.

Astrocytes contribute to chronic neuroinflammation in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD), the most common movement disorder. However, the precise role of astrocytes in neuroinflammation remains incompletely understood. Herein, we show that regulator of G-protein signaling 5 (RGS5) promotes neurodegenerative process through augmenting astrocytic tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) signaling. We found that selective ablation of Rgs5 in astrocytes caused an inhibition in the production of cytokines resulting in mitigated neuroinflammatory response and neuronal survival in animal models of PD, whereas overexpression of Rgs5 had the opposite effects. Mechanistically, RGS5 switched astrocytes from neuroprotective to pro-inflammatory property via binding to the receptor TNFR2. RGS5 also augmented TNFR signaling-mediated pro-inflammatory response by interacting with the receptor TNFR1. Moreover, interrupting RGS5/TNFR interaction by either RGS5 aa 1-108 or small molecular compounds feshurin and butein, suppressed astrocytic cytokine production. We showed that the transcription of astrocytic RGS5 was controlled by transcription factor early B cell factor 1 whose expression was reciprocally influenced by RGS5-modulated TNF signaling. Thus, our study indicates that beyond its traditional role in G-protein coupled receptor signaling, astrocytic RGS5 is a key modulator of TNF signaling circuit with resultant activation of astrocytes thereby contributing to chronic neuroinflammation. Blockade of the astrocytic RGS5/TNFR interaction is a potential therapeutic strategy for neuroinflammation-associated neurodegenerative diseases.

The pleiotropic benefits of statins in cardiovascular diseases that are independent of their lipid-lowering effects have been well documented, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here we show that simvastatin significantly improves human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived endothelial cell functions in both baseline and diabetic conditions by reducing chromatin accessibility at transcriptional enhanced associate domain elements and ultimately at endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT)-regulating genes in a yes-associated protein (YAP)-dependent manner. Inhibition of geranylgeranyltransferase (GGTase) I, a mevalonate pathway intermediate, repressed YAP nuclear translocation and YAP activity via RhoA signaling antagonism. We further identified a previously undescribed SOX9 enhancer downstream of statin-YAP signaling that promotes the EndMT process. Thus, inhibition of any component of the GGTase-RhoA-YAP-SRY box transcription factor 9 (SOX9) signaling axis was shown to rescue EndMT-associated endothelial dysfunction both in vitro and in vivo, especially under diabetic conditions. Overall, our study reveals an epigenetic modulatory role for simvastatin in repressing EndMT to confer protection against endothelial dysfunction.
