RESUMEN

Accelerated aerobic glycolysis is one of the main metabolic alterations in cancer, associated with malignancy and tumor growth. Although glycolysis is one of the most studied properties of tumor cells, recent studies demonstrate that oxidative phosphorylation (OxPhos) is the main ATP provider for the growth and development of cancer. In this last regard, the levels of mRNA and protein of OxPhos enzymes and transporters (including glutaminolysis, acetate and ketone bodies catabolism, free fatty acid ß-oxidation, Krebs Cycle, respiratory chain, phosphorylating system- ATP synthase, ATP/ADP translocator, Pi carrier) are altered in tumors and cancer cells in comparison to healthy tissues and organs, and non-cancer cells. Both energy metabolism pathways are tightly regulated by transcriptional factors, oncogenes, and tumor-suppressor genes, all of which dictate their protein levels depending on the micro-environmental conditions and the type of cancer cell, favoring cancer cell adaptation and growth. In the present review paper, variation in the mRNA and protein levels as well as in the enzyme/ transporter activities of the OxPhos machinery is analyzed. An integral omics approach to mitochondrial energy metabolism pathways may allow for identifying their use as suitable, reliable biomarkers for early detection of cancer development and metastasis, and for envisioned novel, alternative therapies.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to produce a cross-cultural adaptation in Italian of the Agitated Behavior Scale (ABS), originally developed in English, as the first of two stages that also include cross-cultural validation and allow a clinical scale to be used in the proper setting such as rehabilitation units. METHODS: In order to adapt the ABS scale to a different cultural environment, five consecutive steps were performed: (1) forward translations (n = 8), (2) synthesis of the 8 forward translations to obtain a first shared italian version (ABS_I_trial), (3) back translations (n = 3), (4) creation of an expert committee to evaluate forward and back translations and finally (5) the cognitive debriefing. RESULTS: After the five steps, including forward translations and back translations, the process of committee verification and judgement and the evaluative step of cognitive debriefing, high comprehensibility of all items was found, resulting in an Italian translation version of ABS suitable for application in a clinical setting. CONCLUSION: ABS translation was produced by means of a standardized procedure aimed at minimizing cross-cultural gaps. The expert committee evaluated the version produced as highly understandable in Italian. Further steps, such as the subsequent validation of its psychometric properties, are needed to employ this translation in a clinical setting.

Thermal variations due to global climate change are expected to modify the distributions of marine ectotherms, with potential pathogen translocations. This is of particular concern at high latitudes where cold-adapted stenothermal fish such as the Notothenioids occur. However, little is known about the combined effects of thermal fluctuations and immune challenges on the balance between cell damage and repair processes in these fish. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of thermal variation on specific genes involved in the ubiquitination and apoptosis pathways in two congeneric Notothenioid species, subjected to simulated bacterial and viral infections. Adult fish of Harpagifer bispinis and Harpagifer antarcticus were collected from Punta Arenas (Chile) and King George Island (Antarctica), respectively, and distributed as follows: injected with PBS (control), LPS (2.5 mg/kg) or Poly I:C (2 mg/kg) and then submitted to 2, 5 and 8 °C. After 1 week, samples of gills, liver and spleen were taken to evaluate the expression by real-time PCR of specific genes involved in ubiquitination (E3-ligase enzyme) and apoptosis (BAX and SMAC/DIABLO). Gene expression was tissue-dependent and increased with increasing temperature in the gills and liver while showing an opposite pattern in the spleen. Studying a pair of sister species that occur across the Antarctic Polar Front can help us understand the particular pressures of intertidal lifestyles and the effect of temperature in combination with biological stressors on cell damage and repair capacity in a changing environment.

The analysis of spontaneous electroencephalogram (EEG) is a cornerstone in the assessment of patients with disorders of consciousness (DoC). Although preserved EEG patterns are highly suggestive of consciousness even in unresponsive patients, moderately or severely abnormal patterns are difficult to interpret. Indeed, growing evidence shows that consciousness can be present despite either large delta or reduced alpha activity in spontaneous EEG. Quantifying the complexity of EEG responses to direct cortical perturbations (perturbational complexity index [PCI]) may complement the observational approach and provide a reliable assessment of consciousness even when spontaneous EEG features are inconclusive. To seek empirical evidence of this hypothesis, we compared PCI with EEG spectral measures in the same population of minimally conscious state (MCS) patients (n = 40) hospitalized in rehabilitation facilities. We found a remarkable variability in spontaneous EEG features across MCS patients as compared with healthy controls: in particular, a pattern of predominant delta and highly reduced alpha power-more often observed in vegetative state/unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (VS/UWS) patients-was found in a non-negligible number of MCS patients. Conversely, PCI values invariably fell above an externally validated empirical cutoff for consciousness in all MCS patients, consistent with the presence of clearly discernible, albeit fleeting, behavioural signs of awareness. These results confirm that, in some MCS patients, spontaneous EEG rhythms may be inconclusive about the actual capacity for consciousness and suggest that a perturbational approach can effectively compensate for this pitfall with practical implications for the individual patient's stratification and tailored rehabilitation.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a highly prevalent disease worldwide, estimated to affect 1 in every 11 adults; among them, 90-95% of cases are type 2 diabetes mellitus. This is partly attributed to the surge in the prevalence of obesity, which has reached epidemic proportions since 2008. In these patients, cardiovascular (CV) risk stands as the primary cause of morbidity and mortality, placing a substantial burden on healthcare systems due to the potential for macrovascular and microvascular complications. In this context, leptin, an adipocyte-derived hormone, plays a fundamental role. This hormone is essential for regulating the cellular metabolism and energy balance, controlling inflammatory responses, and maintaining CV system homeostasis. Thus, leptin resistance not only contributes to weight gain but may also lead to increased cardiac inflammation, greater fibrosis, hypertension, and impairment of the cardiac metabolism. Understanding the relationship between leptin resistance and CV risk in obese individuals with type 2 DM (T2DM) could improve the management and prevention of this complication. Therefore, in this narrative review, we will discuss the evidence linking leptin with the presence, severity, and/or prognosis of obesity and T2DM regarding CV disease, aiming to shed light on the potential implications for better management and preventive strategies.

Organophosphate (OP) toxicity is related to inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, which plays a key role in the neurotransmission process. In this work, we report the ability of different zinc zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) to behave as potential antidotes against OP poisoning. The Zn-L coordination bond (L = purine, benzimidazole, imidazole, or 2-methylimidazole) is sensitive to the G-type nerve agent model compounds diisopropylfluorophosphate (DIFP) and diisopropylchlorophosphate, leading to P-X (X = F or Cl) bond breakdown into nontoxic diisopropylphosphate. P-X hydrolysis is accompanied by ZIF structural degradation (Zn-imidazolate bond hydrolysis), with the concomitant release of the imidazolate linkers and zinc ions representing up to 95% of ZIF particle dissolution. The delivered imidazolate nucleophilic attack on the OP@AChE adduct gives rise to the recovery of AChE enzymatic function. P-X bond breakdown, ZIF structural degradation, and AChE reactivation are dependent on imidazolate linker nucleophilicity, framework topology, and particle size. The best performance is obtained for 20 nm nanoparticles (NPs) of Zn(2-methylimidazolate)2 (sod ZIF-8) exhibiting a DIFP degradation half-life of 2.6 min and full recovery of AChE activity within 1 h. 20 nm sod ZIF-8 NPs are not neurotoxic, as proven by in vitro neuroblastoma cell culture viability tests.

The Southern Ocean and the Antarctic Circumpolar Current create environmental conditions that serve as an efficient barrier to prevent the colonization of non-native species (NNS) in the marine ecosystems of Antarctica. However, warming of the Southern Ocean and the increasing number of transport opportunities are reducing the physiological and physical barriers, increasing the chances of NNS arriving. The aim of this study was to determine the limits of survival of the juvenile mussels, M. chilensis, under current Antarctic conditions and those projected under climate change. These assessments were used to define the mussels potential for establishment in the Antarctic region. Experimental mussels were exposed to four treatments: -1.5 °C (Antarctic winter), 2 °C (Antarctic summer), 4 °C (Antarctic projected) and 8 °C (control) for 80 days and a combination of physiological and transcriptomics approaches were used to investigate mussel response. The molecular responses of mussels were congruent with the physiological results, revealing tolerance to Antarctic winter temperatures. However, a higher number of regulated differentially expressed gene (DEGs) were reported in mussels exposed to Antarctic winter temperatures (-1.5 °C). This tolerance was associated with the activation of the biological processes associated with apoptosis (up regulated) and both cell division and cilium assembly (down regulated). The reduced feeding rate and the negative scope for growth, for a large part of the exposure period at -1.5 °C, suggests that Antarctic winter temperatures represents an environmental barrier to M. chilensis from the Magellanic region settling in the Antarctic. Although M. chilensis are not robust to current Antarctica thermal conditions, future warming scenarios are likely to weaken these physiological barriers. These results strongly suggest that the West Antarctic Peninsula could become part of Mytilus distributional range, especially with dispersal aided by increasing maritime transport activity across the Southern Ocean.

In accordance with the cognitive orientation contemplated in the resolution of complex problems posed in public decision-making using decision support systems and social networks, this work studies the possibility of identifying the state of mind of society through the state of mind of network leaders. Using sentiment and emotion analysis as research techniques and Twitter as a representative social network, the study corpus considers tweets and retweets in Spanish about COVID-19 in the period from February 27, 2020 to December 31, 2021. As cognitive orientation claims, the proposed techniques will allow us to extract the arguments that support the different positions and decisions from the analysis of the tweets issued exclusively by social leaders. In the case study considered, the COVID-19 vaccination process in Spain, the reduction in the number of tweets' authors (more than 8,000) to the network leaders (just 8) was greater than 99 %; and the subsequent reduction in the number of associated tweets was greater than 88 % from the 18,193 tweets in society to the 2,145 tweets of the eight social leaders. The impressive degree of information compression achieved may be useful to establish new directions of social mood analysis applied to healthcare and business management.

Although the 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) is among the recommended clinical tools to assess gait impairments in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD), its standard clinical outcome consists only of the distance walked in 6 min. Integrating a single Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) could provide additional quantitative and objective information about gait quality complementing standard clinical outcome. This study aims to evaluate the test-retest reliability, validity and discriminant ability of gait parameters obtained by a single IMU during the 6MWT in subjects with mild PD. Twenty-two people with mild PD and ten healthy persons performed the 6MWT wearing an IMU placed on the lower trunk. Features belonging to rhythm and pace, variability, regularity, jerkiness, intensity, dynamic instability and symmetry domains were computed. Test-retest reliability was evaluated through the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), while concurrent validity was determined by Spearman's coefficient. Mann-Whitney U test and the Area Under the receiver operating characteristic Curve (AUC) were then applied to assess the discriminant ability of reliable and valid parameters. Results showed an overall high reliability (ICC ≥ 0.75) and multiple significant correlations with clinical scales in all domains. Several features exhibited significant alterations compared to healthy controls. Our findings suggested that the 6MWT instrumented with a single IMU can provide reliable and valid information about gait features in individuals with PD. This offers objective details about gait quality and the possibility of being integrated into clinical evaluations to better define walking rehabilitation strategies in a quick and easy way.

Background: This study aimed to determine physicians' perceptions of the extent of suboptimal insulin dosing and the barriers and solutions to optimal dosing in people with diabetes (PwD) treated with insulin. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in four countries with primary care physicians and endocrinologists treating PwD using insulin pens, which included 53 questions on physicians' characteristics and their perceptions of the behaviors of PwD in relation to insulin dosing routines, unmet needs and potential solutions. Analyses were descriptive. Results: Of the 160 physicians (80 primary care physicians, 80 specialists) surveyed in Spain, 58.1% were male and 88.8% had been qualified to practice for more than five years. Most physicians (>65%) indicated that 0-30% of PwD missed or skipped, mistimed, or miscalculated an insulin dose in the last 30 days. Common reasons for these actions were that PwD forgot, were out of their normal routine, were too busy or distracted, or were unsure of how much insulin to take. To optimize insulin dosing, over 75% of physicians considered it very helpful for PwD to have real-time insulin dosing calculation guidance, mobile app reminders, a device automatically recording glucose measurements and/or insulin, having insulin and glucose data in one place, and having the time for more meaningful conversations about insulin dosing routines. Conclusion: According to physicians' perspectives, suboptimal insulin dosing remains common among PwD. This survey highlights the need for integrated and automated insulin dosing support to manage the complexity of insulin treatment, improve communications between PwD and physicians, and ultimately improve outcomes for PwD.

People with severe acquired brain injury (pwSABI) frequently experience pulmonary complications. Among these, atelectasis can occur as a result of pneumonia, thus increasing the chance of developing acute respiratory failure. Respiratory physiotherapy contribution to the management of atelectasis in pwSABI is yet poorly understood. We conducted a retrospective analysis on 15 non-cooperative pwSABI with tracheostomy and spontaneously breathing, hospitalized and treated with high-frequency percussion physiotherapy between September 2018 and February 2021 at the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit of the IRCCS "S.Maria Nascente - Fondazione Don Gnocchi", Milan. Our primary aim was to investigate the feasibility of such a physiotherapy intervention method. Then, we assessed changes in respiratory measures (arterial blood gas analysis and peripheral night-time oxygen saturation) and high-resolution computed tomography lung images, evaluated before and after the physiotherapy treatment. The radiological measures were a modified radiological atelectasis score (mRAS) assigned by two radiologists, and an opacity score automatically provided by the software CT Pneumonia Analysis® that identifies the regions of abnormal lung patterns. Treatment diaries showed that all treatments were completed, and no adverse events during treatment were registered. Among the 15 pwSABI analyzed, 8 were treated with IPV® and 7 with MetaNeb®. After a median of 14 (I-III quartile=12.5-14.5) days of treatment, we observed a statistical improvement in various arterial blood gas measures and peripheral night-time oxygen saturation measures. We also found radiological improvement or stability in more than 80% of pwSABI. In conclusion, our physiotherapy approach was feasible, and we observed respiratory parameters and radiological improvements. Using technology to assess abnormal tomographic patterns could be of interest to disentangle the short-term effects of respiratory physiotherapy on non-collaborating people.

We have developed two series of amine-functionalized zirconium (Zr) metal-organic framework-808 (MOF-808), which were produced by postsynthetic modifications to have either amino acids coordinated to Zr ions (MOF-808-AAs) or polyamines covalently bound to the chloro-functionalized structure (MOF-808-PAs). These MOF variants were comprehensively characterized by liquid-state 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements and potentiometric acid-base titration to determine the amounts of amines, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy to assess the extent of covalent substitution by polyamines, powder X-ray diffraction analysis to verify the maintenance of the MOF crystallinity and structure after postsynthetic modifications, nitrogen sorption isotherm measurements to confirm retention of the porosity, and water sorption isotherm measurements to find the water uptake in the pores of each member of the series. Evaluation and testing of these compounds in direct air capture (DAC) of CO2 showed improved CO2 capture performance for the functionalized forms, especially under humid conditions: In dry conditions, the l-lysine- and tris(3-aminopropyl)amine-functionalized variants, termed as MOF-808-Lys and MOF-808-TAPA, exhibited the highest CO2 uptakes at 400 ppm, measuring 0.612 and 0.498 mmol g-1, and further capacity enhancement was achieved by introducing 50% relative humidity, resulting in remarkable uptakes of 1.205 and 0.872 mmol g-1 corresponding to 97 and 75% increase compared to the dry uptakes, respectively. The mechanism underlying the enhanced uptake efficiency was revealed by 13C solid-state NMR and temperature-programmed desorption measurements, indicating the formation of bicarbonate species, and therefore a stoichiometry of 1:1 CO2 to each amine site.

Understanding adsorption processes at the molecular level, with multi-technique approaches, is nowadays at the frontier of porous materials research. In this work it is shown that with a proper data treatment, in situ high-resolution powder X-ray diffraction (HR-PXRD) at variable temperature and gas pressure can reveal atomic details of the accommodation sites, the framework dynamics as well as thermodynamic information (isosteric heat of adsorption) of the CO2 adsorption process in the robust iron(III) pyrazolate-based MOF Fe2(BDP)3 [H2BDP = 1,4-bis(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)benzene]. Highly reliable "HR-PXRD adsorption isotherms" can be constructed from occupancy values of CO2 molecules. The "HR-PXRD adsorption isotherms" accurately match the results of conventional static and dynamic gas sorption experiments and Monte Carlo simulations. These results are indicative of the impact of the molecular-level behavior on the bulk properties of the system under study and of the potential of the presented multi-technique approach to understand adsorption processes in metal-organic frameworks.

The clinical assessment of patients with disorders of consciousness (DoC) relies on the observation of behavioural responses to standardised sensory stimulation. However, several medical comorbidities may directly impair the production of reproducible and appropriate responses, thus reducing the sensitivity of behaviour-based diagnoses. One such comorbidity is akinetic mutism (AM), a rare neurological syndrome characterised by the inability to initiate volitional motor responses, sometimes associated with clinical presentations that overlap with those of DoC. In this paper, we describe the case of a patient with large bilateral mesial frontal lesions, showing prolonged behavioural unresponsiveness and severe disorganisation of electroencephalographic (EEG) background, compatible with a vegetative state/unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (VS/UWS). By applying an unprecedented multimodal battery of advanced imaging and electrophysiology-based techniques (AIE) encompassing spontaneous EEG, evoked potentials, event-related potentials, transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with EEG and structural and functional MRI, we provide the following: (i) a demonstration of the preservation of consciousness despite unresponsiveness in the context of AM, (ii) a plausible neurophysiological explanation for behavioural unresponsiveness and its subsequent recovery during rehabilitation stay and (iii) novel insights into the relationships between DoC, AM and parkinsonism. The present case offers proof-of-principle evidence supporting the clinical utility of a multimodal hierarchical workflow that combines AIEs to detect covert signs of consciousness in unresponsive patients.

Lipoprotein(a) (Lp[a]) is an emerging risk factor for incident ischemic heart disease. However, its role in risk stratification in in-hospital survivors to an index acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is scarcer, especially for predicting the risk of long-term recurrent AMI. We aimed to assess the relation between Lp(a) and very long-term recurrent AMI after an index episode of AMI. It is a retrospective analysis that included 1,223 consecutive patients with an AMI discharged from October 2000 to June 2003 in a single-teaching center. Lp(a) was assessed during index admission in all cases. The relation between Lp(a) at discharge and total recurrent AMI was evaluated through negative binomial regression. The mean age of the patients was 67.0 ± 12.3 years, 379 (31.0%) were women, and 394 (32.2%) were diabetic. The index event was more frequently non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (66.0%). The median Lp(a) was 28.8 (11.8 to 63.4) mg/100 ml. During a median follow-up of 9.9 (4.6 to 15.5) years, 813 (66.6%) deaths and 1,205 AMI in 532 patients (43.5%) occurred. Lp(a) values were not associated with an increased risk of long-term all-cause mortality (p = 0.934). However, they were positively and nonlinearly associated with an increased risk of total long-term reinfarction (p = 0.016). In the subgroup analysis, there was no evidence of a differential effect for the most prevalent subgroups. In conclusion, after an AMI, elevated Lp(a) values assessed during hospitalization were associated with an increased risk of recurrent reinfarction in the very long term. Further prospective studies are warranted to evaluate their clinical implications.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is hallmarked by dysfunctional circuitry between the basal ganglia and dorsolateral-prefrontal cortex. Recently progress has been made in understanding factors contributing to differential susceptibility to pathology mitigating disease-related cognitive decline. Cognitive reserve, the brain processing resources accumulated throughout life while engaged in mentally stimulating activities, can play an important protective role in cognitive performance. We tested the hypothesis that Cognitive Reserve proxies may exert an impact on the basal ganglia and dorsolateral-prefrontal atrophy in early PD. Forty-five early patients with PD and 20 age-gender-matched healthy controls (HC) completed the Cognitive Reserve Index questionnaire to quantify Cognitive Reserve proxies by three indexes (CRI-Education, CRI-Working Activity, CRI-Leisure Time) and a structural MRI examination (3T). Morphometrical indexes for basal ganglia (bilateral putamen, caudate, pallidum volume) and dorsolateral-prefrontal cortex (cortical thickness) were computed. Significant differences between HC and PD were tested by direct comparisons in demographics, cognitive level, and cognitive reserve proxies indexes. Then two multiple regression analyses were performed to identify predictors of the basal ganglia and dorsolateral-prefrontal cortex structural integrity. Regression analysis revealed that basal ganglia volume was significantly predicted by CRI-Education (pFDR = 0.029), sex (pFDR = 0.029), and Total Intracranial Volume (pFDR < 0.001). Instead, the dorsolateral-prefrontal thickness was predicted by CRI-Leisure Time (pFDR = 0.030) and age (pFDR = 0.010). Cognitive Reserve proxies, especially education and leisure-time activities, can play a protective role on the structural integrity of the basal ganglia and dorsolateral-prefrontal cortex, respectively, critical regions hallmarking brain status of early phases of PD.

In this study, we present a novel approach for the synthesis of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) that overcomes the common limitations of non-scalable solvothermal procedures. Our method allows for the room-temperature and scalable synthesis of a highly fluorinated DFTAPB-TFTA-COF, which exhibits intrinsic hydrophobicity. We used DFT-based calculations to elucidate the role of the fluorine atoms in enhancing the crystallinity of the material through corrugation effects, resulting in maximized interlayer interactions, as disclosed both from PXRD structural resolution and theoretical simulations. We further investigated the electrocatalytic properties of this material towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Our results show that the fluorinated COF produces hydrogen peroxide selectively with low overpotential (0.062 V) and high turnover frequency (0.0757 s-1 ) without the addition of any conductive additives. These values are among the best reported for non-pyrolyzed and metal-free electrocatalysts. Finally, we employed DFT-based calculations to analyse the reaction mechanism, highlighting the crucial role of the fluorine atom in the active site assembly. Our findings shed light on the potential of fluorinated COFs as promising electrocatalysts for the ORR, as well as their potential applications in other fields.

By approaching the concept of Natural Intelligence a new path may be open in a variety of theoretical and applied problems on social emotions. There is no doubt that intelligence emerges as a biological/informational phenomenon, although paradoxically a consistent elaboration of that concept has been missing. Regarding emotions, they have been keeping an unclear status, being often restricted to the anthropological or to ethological approaches closer to the behaviorist paradigm. Herein we propose a different track, centered in the life cycle advancement. The life cycle in its integrity becomes the nucleus of natural intelligence's informational processes, including the consistent expression of emotions along the maximization of fitness occasions. In human societies, the overall 'economy' of social emotions is manifest, showing up in the conspicuous interplay between bonding processes and different classes of social emotions. The essential link between natural intelligence, emotions, and the life cycle of individuals may harmonize with current progresses - and blind spots - of artificial intelligence fields such as 'sentiment analysis.'

OBJECTIVE: To determinate the prevalence of the main risk factors associated with development of capsular contracture after placement of breast implants in a referral center. METHOD: Retrospect study on 210 patients where sociodemographic variables, Baker's clinical scale and histopathological results were recorded. RESULTS: Statistical analysis of 210 patients was performed; 98.1% were women. The average age was 47 years (± 11), body mass index 25 (± 10) and onset of symptoms 13 years (± 8.5). Sociodemographic factors: domestic work 63.3%. Alcoholism 70% and smoking 65.7%. The main reason for consultation was pain plus deformity in 81.6%. The risk factors with statistical significance were the history of trauma, with 83.3% (p = 0.004), and the subglandular plane, with 73.8% (p = 0.0115). Histopathology: fibrous capsule 81.4%. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of the risk factors described are similar to those reported in the literature. Only for the history of trauma and the subglandular plane there was statistical significance.

MÉTODO: Estudio retrospectivo de 210 pacientes en el que se registraron variables sociodemográficas, escala clínica de Baker y resultados histopatológicos. RESULTADOS: Se realizó el análisis estadístico de 210 pacientes; el 98.1% fueron mujeres. La edad promedio fue de 47 años (± 11), el índice de masa corporal 25 kg/m2 (± 10) y el inicio de los síntomas 13 años (± 8.5). Factores sociodemográficos: labores domésticas 63.3%. Alcoholismo 70% y tabaquismo 65.7%. El principal motivo de consulta fue dolor más deformidad, en el 81.6%. Los factores de riesgo con significancia estadística fueron el antecedente de traumatismo, con un 83.3% (p = 0.004), y el plano subglandular, con un 73.8% (p = 0.0115). Histopatología: cápsula fibrosa 81.4%. CONCLUSIONES: La prevalencia de los factores de riesgo descritos es similar a lo reportado en la literatura. Solo para el antecedente de traumatismo y el plano subglandular hubo significancia estadística.

Anthropogenically induced global climate change has caused profound impacts in the world ocean. Climate change related stressors, like ocean acidification (OA) and warming (OW) can affect physiological performance of marine species. However, studies evaluating the impacts of these stressors on algae-herbivore interactions have been much more scarce. We approached this issue by assessing the combined impacts of OA and OW on the physiological energetics of the herbivorous snail Tegula atra, and whether this snail is affected indirectly by changes in biochemical composition of the kelp Lessonia spicata, in response to OA and OW. Our results show that OA and OW induce changes in kelp biochemical composition and palatability (organic matter, phenolic content), which in turn affect snails' feeding behaviour and energy balance. Nutritional quality of food plays a key role on grazers' physiological energetics and can define the stability of trophic interactions in rapidly changing environments such as intertidal communities.
