RESUMEN

A systematic study of extraction systems for the separation of f-elements using the tetradentate N,O-donor diamide of 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxylic acid (L) in various molecular and ionic solvents was performed. It was demonstrated that the nature of a diluent has a significant impact on solvent extraction of Am(III) and Ln(III) and the stoichiometry of formed complexes with f-elements. The mechanism of complexation and forms of complexes in different diluents were investigated by radiometric methods, UV-vis titration, and XRD.

RESUMEN

An umpolung strategy was used for the preparation of highly functionalized 3-pyrrolin-2-ones. This approach involves dearomative double chlorination of 1H-pyrroles to form highly reactive dichloro-substituted 2H-pyrroles. The resulting intermediate reacts selectively with wet alcohols to form the corresponding alkoxy-substituted 3-pyrrolin-2-ones via double nucleophilic substitution in up to 99% yield. The subsequent reaction with different N-, O-, and S-nucleophiles opens access to highly functionalized pyrrolinones bearing additional functionality. The overall outcome of the reported sequence is step-by-step nucleophilic modification of pyrroles with three different nucleophiles. All steps were found to be highly efficient and 100% regioselective. This transformation proceeds under mild conditions and does not require any catalyst to give final products in very high yields. The obtained experimental results are in perfect agreement with the data obtained by theoretical investigation of these reactions.

RESUMEN

The impact of substituents at the 4- and 7-positions of 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxamides on the photophysical properties of the ligands and their coordination compounds with the lanthanide triad-europium, gadolinium, and terbium-was analyzed. This study demonstrates how modification of the electronic nature of ligands through the incorporation of diverse functional groups affects the luminescence properties of their complexes. The introduction of various substituents leads to the appearance of intra-ligand or ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (CT) states. The highest luminescence efficiency was observed for LH·Eu(NO3)3 (Qin = 54.1% and QL = 9.6%), suggesting strong luminescence quenching of the CT state. It was found that a relatively low ΔE (∼3000 cm-1) supports direct energy transfer from S1 to T1 bypassing the CT state, even though it is outside Reinhoudt's optimal range. The introduction of fluorines leads to the strongest luminescence quenching among all the substituents.

RESUMEN

An efficient protocol was developed for the synthesis of highly functionalized 2H-pyrroles. This synthetic approach involves the in situ generation of highly reactive 2,5-dichloro-substituted 2H-pyrroles through dearomative chlorination of the corresponding 1H-pyrroles. The resulting reaction mixture is then treated with various amines, leading to the formation of 2,5-diaminated 2H-pyrroles. Subsequent nucleophilic substitution of fluorine with different N-, O-, and S-nucleophiles allows us to introduce additional functionality into a 2H-pyrrole core. The overall outcome of this reaction sequence is the triple nucleophilic modification of pyrroles. All steps of the sequence were found to be highly efficient, regioselective in the preparation of desired di- and trisubstituted derivatives in up to 96% overall yield. In addition, the computational study of this reaction sequence was carried out using density functional theory (DFT). The results of calculations are in perfect agreement with experimental observations.

RESUMEN

Positively charged ligands are scarce. Here, we report the synthesis of unprecedented cationic selenium-containing triazapentadiene ligand framework. The reaction between 2-pyridylselenyl reagents and NaN(CN)2 in a 2:1 ratio produces the sodium complexes featuring the cationic selenium-containing triazapentadiene (SeTAP) ligand. The sodium-to-metal transmetalation allows facile preparation of SeTAP metal complexes, as exemplified by the reactions with CuCl2, AgNO3, NaAuCl4, and FeCl3. Density functional theory calculations have been used to analyze and characterize the chalcogen bonding interactions observed in the solid state for these compounds. Moreover, antifungal properties of the SeTAP ligand and its metal complexes were screened for in vitro activity against several phytopathogenic fungi. Phoma eupyrena exhibited prominent sensitivity against the action of most of the tested compounds.

RESUMEN

This computational study explores the copper (I) chloride catalyzed synthesis of (E)-1-(2,2-dichloro-1-phenylvinyl)-2-phenyldiazene (2Cl-VD) from readily available hydrazone derivative and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). 2Cl-VD has been extensively utilized to synthesize variety of heterocyclic organic compounds in mild conditions. The present computational investigations primarily focus on understanding the role of copper (I) and N1,N1,N2,N2-tetramethylethane-1,2-diamine (TMEDA) in this reaction, TMEDA often being considered a proton scavenger by experimentalists. Considering TMEDA as a ligand significantly alters the energy barrier. In fact, it is only 8.3 kcal/mol higher compared to the ligand-free (LF) route for the removal of a chlorine atom to form the radical ·CCl3 but the following steps are almost barrierless. This intermediate then participates in attacking the electrophilic carbon in the hydrazone. Crucially, the study reveals that the overall potential energy surface is thermodynamically favorable, and the theoretical turnover frequency (TOF) value is higher in the case of Cu(I)-TMEDA complex catalyzed pathway.

RESUMEN

A new family of phenanthroline ligands was prepared. Hydrolysis of 4,7-dihalogenated 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-diamides in acidic media leads to the formation of the corresponding 4,7-oxygenated derivatives. These ligands can exist in different tautomeric forms. The tautomerism of 4,7-oxygenated phenanthroline diamides has been investigated using quantum chemical calculations. The unsymmetrical oxo-hydroxy tautomeric form was proved to be the most energetically advantageous according to the spectral data and X-ray analysis. It was shown that 4,7-difluoro derivatives undergo acid hydrolysis more easily when compared to 4,7-dichloro derivatives. The coordination chemistry of 4,7-oxygenated 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-diamides toward some lanthanide nitrates was investigated. The structures of Ln-complexes thus formed were studied both in the solid state and in solution (XRD analysis and IR, NMR and UV spectroscopy). It was revealed that 4,7-oxygenated ligands adopt the dihydroxy tautomeric form upon coordination with lanthanide nitrates.

RESUMEN

A highly efficient synthetic approach was developed for the synthesis of unsymmetrical 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-diamides with two different substituents in the fourth and seventh positions of the phenanthroline core. The structures of these ligands were confirmed using various spectral methods including 2D-NMR and X-ray analysis. Quantum chemical calculations supported the presence of tautomeric forms of these ligands. Furthermore, it was discovered that these compounds exhibit polydentate ligand behavior toward lanthanide nitrates. The structural characteristics of the complexes formed between these ligands and lanthanide nitrates were investigated both in the solid state and in solution. To further understand the binding properties of these novel unsymmetrical ligands, the binding constants for potential complexes were quantitatively measured by using UV-vis spectrophotometric titration. This allowed for a comprehensive analysis of the binding affinity and stability of these complexes. Extraction experiments of f-elements were performed for symmetrical and unsymmetrical diamides. Overall, this study presents significant advancement in the synthesis and characterization of unsymmetrical 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-diamides and provides valuable insights into their potential applications as polydentate ligands for lanthanide nitrates.

RESUMEN

Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has been identified as a target for the development of theranostic agents. In our current work, we describe the design and synthesis of novel N-[N-[(S)-1,3-dicarboxypropyl]carbamoyl]-(S)-L-lysine (DCL) urea-based PSMA inhibitors with a chlorine-substituted aromatic fragment at the lysine ε-nitrogen atom, a dipeptide including two phenylalanine residues in the L-configuration as the peptide fragment of the linker, and 3- or 4-(tributylstannyl)benzoic acid as a prosthetic group in their structures for radiolabeling. The standard compounds [127I]PSMA-m-IB and [127I]PSMA-p-IB for comparative and characterization studies were first synthesized using two alternative synthetic approaches. An important advantage of the alternative synthetic approach, in which the prosthetic group (NHS-activated esters of compounds) is first conjugated with the polypeptide sequence followed by replacement of the Sn(Bu)3 group with radioiodine, is that the radionuclide is introduced in the final step of synthesis, thereby minimizing operating time with iodine-123 during the radiolabeling process. The obtained DCL urea-based PSMA inhibitors were radiolabeled with iodine-123. The radiolabeling optimization results showed that the radiochemical yield of [123I]PSMA-p-IB was higher than that of [123I]PSMA-m-IB, which were 74.9 ± 1.0% and 49.4 ± 1.2%, respectively. The radiochemical purity of [123I]PSMA-p-IB after purification was greater than 99.50%. The initial preclinical evaluation of [123I]PSMA-p-IB demonstrated a considerable affinity and specific binding to PC-3 PIP (PSMA-expressing cells) in vitro. The in vivo biodistribution of this new radioligand [123I]PSMA-p-IB showed less accumulation than [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 in several normal organs (liver, kidney, and bone). These results warrant further preclinical development, including toxicology evaluation and experiments in tumor-bearing mice.

RESUMEN

The Barton-Zard reaction of ß-fluoro-ß-nitrostyrenes with ethyl α-isocyanoacetate was studied. The reaction was found to proceed in a highly chemoselective manner to form preferably 4-fluoropyrroles in up to 77% yield. The corresponding 4-nitrosubstituted pyrroles are formed as minor products of the reaction. The broad scope of ß-fluoro-ß-nitrostyrenes was demonstrated in the preparation of a variety of fluorinated pyrroles. The obtained experimental results are in perfect agreement with the data obtained by theoretical investigation of this reaction. The subsequent study of synthetic utility of monofluorinated pyrroles was performed to open a way for the development of a variety of functionalized pyrrole derivatives.

RESUMEN

Modification of 5-aryl-4-trifluoroacetyltriazoles at the NH-moiety was investigated. Screening of the alkylation conditions revealed that using Na2CO3 as a base and DMF as a solvent of 2-substituted triazoles can be preferentially prepared in up to 86% yield. In the best cases, the amount of minor 1-alkyl isomer was less than 6%. SNAr reaction of the 5-aryl-4-trifluoroacetyltriazoles with aryl halides having electron-withdrawing groups led to regiospecific formation of 2-aryltriazoles isolated in good-to-high yields. Chan-Lam reaction of the 5-aryl-4-trifluoroacetyltriazoles with boronic acids afforded 2-aryltriazoles as single isomers in up to 89% yield. The subsequent reaction of the prepared 2-aryltriazoles with primary and secondary amines gave a set of amides of 4-(2,5-diaryltriazolyl)carboxylic acid. The fluorescent properties of the prepared 2-substituted derivatives of triazoles were investigated to demonstrate their utility as new efficient luminophores having more than 60% quantum yields.

RESUMEN

A reaction of acyl chlorides derived from 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxylic acids with piperazine allows the preparation of the corresponding 24-membered macrocycles in good yield. The structural and spectral properties of these new macrocyclic ligands were thoroughly investigated, revealing promising coordination properties towards f-elements (Am, Eu). It was shown that the prepared ligands can be used for selective extraction of Am(III) from alkaline-carbonate media in presence of Eu(III) with an SFAm/Eu up to 40. Their extraction efficiency is higher than calixarene-type extraction of the Am(III) and Eu(III) pair. Composition of macrocycle-metal complex with Eu(III) was investigated by luminescence and UV-vis spectroscopy. The possibility of such ligands to form complexes of L:Eu = 1:2 stoichiometry is revealed.

RESUMEN

New fluorescent dyes containing an assembled 1,4-dihydroazolo[5,1-c][1,2,4]triazine (DAT) core and an isoxazole ring were synthesized through a reaction between diazopyrazole or diazoimidazoles and isoxazolyl-derived enamines in mild conditions. The photophysical characteristics (maxima absorption and emission, Stokes shifts, fluorescent quantum yields, and fluorescence lifetimes) of the new fluorophores were obtained. The prepared DATs demonstrated emission maxima ranging within 433-487 nm, quantum yields within 6.1-33.3%, and a large Stokes shift. The photophysical characteristics of representative DAT examples were studied in ten different solvents. Specific (hydrogen bonds) and non-specific (dipole-dipole) intermolecular and intramolecular interactions were analyzed using XRD data and spectral experiments. Solvatochromism was analyzed using Lippert-Mataga and Dimroth-Reichardt plots, revealing the relationship between the DAT structure and the nature of solute-solvent interactions. The significant advantages of DATs are the fluorescence of their powders (QY up to 98.7%). DAT-NMe210 expressed bright aggregation-induced emission (AIE) behavior in DMSO and THF as the water content increased. The numerous possible variations of the structures of the heterocycles included in the DATs, as well as substituents, create excellent prospects for adjusting their photophysical and physicochemical properties.

RESUMEN

Three pyrrolidine-derived phenanthroline diamides were studied as ligands for lutetium trinitrate. The structural features of the complexes have been studied using various spectral methods and X-ray. The presence of halogen atoms in the structure of phenanthroline ligands has a significant impact on both the coordination number of lutetium and the number of solvate water molecules in the internal coordination sphere. The stability constants of complexes with La(NO3)3, Nd(NO3)3, Eu(NO3)3, and Lu(NO3)3 were measured to demonstrate higher efficiency of fluorinated ligands. NMR titration was performed for this ligand, and it was found that complexation with lutetium leads to an approximately 13 ppm shift of the corresponding signal in the 19F NMR spectrum. The possibility of formation of a polymeric oxo-complex of this ligand with lutetium nitrate was demonstrated. Experiments on the liquid-liquid extraction of Am(III) and Ln(III) nitrates were carried out to demonstrate advantageous features of chlorinated and fluorinated pyrrolidine diamides.

RESUMEN

Phenanthroline diamides (L) demonstrated a unique ability to extract uranium from nitric acid solutions into a polar organic solvent forming complexes of 1:2 stoichiometry as tight ion pairs {[UO2LNO3]+[UO2(NO3)3]-} by a novel extraction mechanism, which is a combination of two already well-known mechanisms: solvation and ion-pair anion exchange. A UV-vis study was used to confirm the formation of such complexes directly in the organic phase. Moreover, chemical synthesis and single crystal growth were performed to confirm unambiguously the structure of the complexes in the solid state.

RESUMEN

Halogenation of 2-trifluoromethylindole afforded 3-chloro-, 3-bromo- and 3-iodo derivatives in up to 98% yield. Methyl-, benzyl- and tosyl-groups can be installed at the nitrogen atom of prepared indoles in high yields by base catalyzed reaction with the corresponding alkylating (sulfonylating) reagents. A high synthetic utility of the prepared haloindoles in the reaction with various nucleophilies was shown. The reaction with 4-methylthiophenol and copper cyanide afforded the corresponding sulfides and nitriles in high yield. Palladium catalyzed cross-coupling with phenyl boronic acid and phenylacetylene gave the corresponding 3-phenyl-2-CF3-indoles and acetylenic derivatives in 72-98% yield.

RESUMEN

A detailed study of the reaction of CF3-ynones with NaN3 was performed. It was found that the reaction permits the selective synthesis of either 4-trifluoroacetyltriazoles or 5-CF3-isoxazoles. The chemoselectivity of the reaction was switchable via acid catalysis. The reaction of CF3-ynones with NaN3 in EtOH produced high yields of 4-trifluoroacetyltriazoles. In contrast, the formation of 5-CF3-isoxazoles was observed under catalysis by acids. This acid-switchable procedure can be performed at sub-gram scale. The possible reaction mechanism was supported by DFT calculations. The synthetic utility of the prepared 4-trifluoroacetyltriazoles was demonstrated.

RESUMEN

The series of benzylic-substituted 1,2,4-selenodiazolium salts were prepared via cyclization reaction between 2-pyridylselenyl chlorides and nitriles and fully characterized. Substitution of the Cl anion by weakly binding anions promoted the formation supramolecular dimers featuring four center Se2N2 chalcogen bonding and two antiparallel selenium⋯π interactions. Chalcogen bonding interactions were studied using density functional theory calculations, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surfaces, the quantum theory of atoms-in-molecules (QTAIM), and the noncovalent interaction (NCI) plot. The investigations revealed fundamental role of the selenium⋯π contacts that are stronger than the Se⋯N interactions in supramolecular dimers. Importantly, described herein, the benzylic substitution approach can be utilized for reliable supramolecular dimerization of selenodiazolium cations in the solid state, which can be employed in supramolecular engineering.

RESUMEN

The fact of the fracture of the extraction curve of lanthanides by 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-diamides is explained in terms of the structure of complexes, solvent extraction data and quantum chemical calculations. The solvent extraction proceeds in two competing directions: in the form of neutral complexes LLn(NO3)3 and in the form of tight ion pairs {[LLn(NO3)2 H2O]+ (NO3-).
