RESUMEN

The effects of exogenous ketones on appetite and food intake remain elusive, especially for people with type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study aimed to determine whether acute ingestion of an oral ketone monoester supplement (KME) affected appetite sensations, prospective food consumption and intake in T2D. Results showed that acute KME ingestion did not significantly alter appetite scores. However, there was a tendency for lower energy intake during an ad libitum meal three hours following ketone ingestion compared to non-energetic placebo. Further research is warranted to understand the long-term effects of exogenous ketones for energy and macronutrient intake in T2D.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of freezing rates using direct (LF: Liquid nitrogen) and indirect (RF: Cryogenic refrigerator and UF: ultra-freezer) methods at temperatures of (-20, -80, and - 196 °C) on the enzymatic susceptibility with α-amylase for microparticles. In vitro digestibility parameters and technological properties were also analyzed. Lower rates resulted in larger ice crystals, damaging the starch structure. Hydrolysis was more pronounced at slower rates RF: 0.07 °C/min and UF: 0.14 °C/min, yielding maximum values of RDS: 37.63% and SDS: 59.32% for RF. Type A crystallinity remained unchanged, with only a noted increase in crystallinity of up to 6.50% for FR. Starch pastes were classified as pseudoplastic, with RF exhibiting superior textural parameters and apparent viscosity. (RF: 7.18 J g-1 and UF: 7.34 J g-1) also showed lower values of gelatinization enthalpy. Freezing techniques were viable in facilitating the diffusion of α-amylase and reducing RS by up to 81%.

In bovines few studies addressed the contribution of adipose tissue to the host immune response to infection. Here we evaluated the in vitro response of bovine adipose tissue stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells to the protozoan parasite Neospora caninum, using live and freeze-killed tachyzoites. Live N. caninum induced the production of IL-6, IL-1ß and IL-10 by SVF cells isolated from subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT), while in mesenteric adipose tissue (MAT) SVF cell cultures only IL-1ß and IL-10 production was increased, showing slight distinct responses between adipose tissue depots. Whereas a clear IL-8 increase was detected in peripheral blood leucocytes (PBL) culture supernatants in response to live N. caninum, no such increase was observed in SAT or MAT SVF cell cultures. Nevertheless, in response to LPS, increased IL-8 levels were detected in all cell cultures. IL-10 levels were always increased in response to stimulation (live, freeze-killed N. caninum and LPS). Overall, our results show that bovine adipose tissue SVF cells produce cytokines in response to N. caninum and can therefore be putative contributors to the host immune response against this parasite.

PURPOSE: To investigate the antibacterial effects of Terminalia catappa Linn (TCL) leaf extracts at different concentrations and the effects of these extracts used as primers on the long-term adhesive properties of two universal adhesives. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After extract preparation, the antimicrobial and antibacterial activities of TCL against Streptococcus mutans (UA 159) were assessed in microdilution assays to provide the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC). Additionally, to provide quantitative data on the ability of TCL extract to reduce cell viability, colony forming units (CFU) were counted. To examine adhesive properties, 288 human molars were randomly assigned to 32 experimental conditions (n = 9) according to the following variables: (1) treatment agent: negative control (untreated surface), and primers at concentrations of 1xMIC, 5xMIC, and 10xMIC; (2) adhesives: Scotchbond Universal (SBU) and Futurabond Universal (FBU); (3) adhesive strategy: etch-and-rinse (ER) or self-etch (SE); and (4) storage time: 24 h or after 2 years. Primers were applied for 60 s, upon which the teeth were incrementally restored and sectioned into adhesive-dentin bonded sticks. These were tested for microtensile bond strength (µTBS) and nanoleakage (NL) after 24-h and 2-year water storage, as well as in-situ degree of conversion (DC) at 24 h. The chemical profile of the hybrid layer was determined via micro-Raman spectroscopy. Biofilm assay data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test; the pH of culture media and the chemical profile were analyzed by one-way ANOVA. The adhesive properties (µTBS, NL, DC) were evaluated using a four-way ANOVA and Tukey's test. Significance was set at 5%. RESULTS: Similar values of MIC and MBC were observed (2 mg/ml), showing bactericidal potential. CFU analysis demonstrated that concentrations of 5xMIC and 10xMIC significantly inhibited biofilm formation (p < 0.001). The application of the TCL primer at all concentrations significantly increased the immediate µTBS and DC, and decreased the immediate NL values when compared to the control group (p < 0.05), regardless of the adhesive and adhesive strategies. Despite an increase in the NL values for all groups after 2 years (p > 0.05), in groups where the TCL primer was applied, the µTBS remained constant after 2 years for both adhesives, while a decrease in the µTBS was observed in the control groups (p < 0.05). Usually, 10xMIC showed better results than 1xMIC and 5xMIC (p < 0.05). The application of TCL promoted cross-linking; cross-linking rates increased proportionally to the concentration of TCL (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Primers containing TCL promoted bactericidal and bacteriostatic action, as well as cross-linking with dentin, while maintaining the adhesive properties of the adhesive-dentin interface after 2 years of water storage.

Controlling the nanomorphology in bulk heterojunction photoactive blends is crucial for optimizing the performance and stability of organic photovoltaic (OPV) technologies. A promising approach is to alter the drying dynamics and consequently, the nanostructure of the blend film using solvent additives such as 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO). Although this approach is demonstrated extensively for OPV systems incorporating fullerene-based acceptors, it is unclear how solvent additive processing influences the morphology and stability of nonfullerene acceptor (NFA) systems. Here, small angle neutron scattering (SANS) is used to probe the nanomorphology of two model OPV systems processed with DIO: a fullerene-based system (PBDB-T:PC71BM) and an NFA-based system (PBDB-T:ITIC). To overcome the low intrinsic neutron scattering length density contrast in polymer:NFA blend films, the synthesis of a deuterated NFA analog (ITIC-d52) is reported. Using SANS, new insights into the nanoscale evolution of fullerene and NFA-based systems are provided by characterizing films immediately after fabrication, after thermal annealing, and after aging for 1 year. It is found that DIO processing influences fullerene and NFA-based systems differently with NFA-based systems characterized by more phase-separated domains. After long-term aging, SANS reveals both systems demonstrate some level of thermodynamic induced domain coarsening.

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is an exceedingly rare and aggressive hematologic malignancy. In the current World Health Organization classification, it is classified among histiocytic/dendritic cell neoplasms. This report describes the case of an 85-year-old female with a complex medical history, including rheumatoid arthritis, who presented with a one-month history of low-grade fever, anorexia, and unexplained weight loss. The diagnosis of BPDCN was confirmed following an immunophenotyping analysis of a bone marrow aspirate. With this report, the authors intend to shed some light on BPDCN's clinical presentation, diagnostic journey, therapeutic approaches, and patient outcomes, and denote the significance of early detection and interdisciplinary collaboration in enhancing patient care.

Mapping the cellular refractive index (RI) is a central task for research involving the composition of microorganisms and the development of models providing automated medical screenings with accuracy beyond 95%. These models require significantly enhancing the state-of-the-art RI mapping capabilities to provide large amounts of accurate RI data at high throughput. Here, we present a machine-learning-based technique that obtains a biological specimen's real-time RI and thickness maps from a single image acquired with a conventional color camera. This technology leverages a suitably engineered nanostructured membrane that stretches a biological analyte over its surface and absorbs transmitted light, generating complex reflection spectra from each sample point. The technique does not need pre-existing sample knowledge. It achieves 10-4 RI sensitivity and sub-nanometer thickness resolution on diffraction-limited spatial areas. We illustrate practical application by performing sub-cellular segmentation of HCT-116 colorectal cancer cells, obtaining complete three-dimensional reconstruction of the cellular regions with a characteristic length of 30 µm. These results can facilitate the development of real-time label-free technologies for biomedical studies on microscopic multicellular dynamics.

Pre-clinical and cell culture evidence supports the role of the ketone beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) as an immunomodulatory molecule that may inhibit inflammatory signalling involved in several chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes (T2D), but studies in humans are lacking. Therefore, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effect of BHB in humans across three clinical trials. To investigate if BHB suppressed pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion, we treated LPS-stimulated leukocytes from overnight-fasted adults at risk for T2D with BHB (Study 1). Next (Study 2), we investigated if exogenously raising BHB acutely in vivo by ketone monoester supplementation (KME) in adults with T2D would suppress pro-inflammatory plasma cytokines. In Study 3, we investigated the effect of BHB on inflammation via ex vivo treatment of LPS-stimulated leukocytes with BHB and in vivo thrice-daily pre-meal KME for 14 days in adults with T2D. Ex vivo treatment with BHB suppressed LPS-stimulated IL-1ß, TNF-α, and IL-6 secretion and increased IL-1RA and IL-10 (Study 1). Plasma IL-10 increased by 90 min following ingestion of a single dose of KME in T2D, which corresponded to peak blood BHB (Study 2). Finally, 14 days of thrice-daily KME ingestion did not significantly alter plasma cytokines or leukocyte subsets including monocyte and T-cell polarization (Study 3). However, direct treatment of leukocytes with BHB modulated TNF-α, IL-1ß, IFN-γ, and MCP-1 secretion in a time- and glucose-dependent manner (Study 3). Therefore, BHB appears to be anti-inflammatory in T2D, but this effect is transient and is modulated by the presence of disease, glycaemia, and exposure time.

Acute ingestion of the exogenous ketone monoester supplement [(R)-3-hydroxybutyl-(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate] lowers blood glucose, suggesting therapeutic potential in individuals with impaired glucose metabolism. However, it is unknown how acute or repeated ingestion of exogenous ketones affects blood glucose control in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D). We conducted two randomized, counterbalanced, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trials to determine if 1) acute exogenous ketone monoester (0.3 g/kg body mass; N = 18) or 2) 14-day thrice daily premeal exogenous ketone monoester (15 g; N = 15) supplementation could lower blood glucose in individuals living with T2D. A single dose of the ketone monoester supplement elevated blood ß-OHB to ∼2 mM. There were no differences in the primary outcomes of plasma glucose concentration (acutely) or serum fructosamine (glycemic control across 14 days) between conditions. Ketone monoester ingestion acutely increased insulin and lowered nonesterified fatty acid concentrations; plasma metabolomics confirmed a reduction in multiple free fatty acids species and select gluconeogenic amino acids. In contrast, no changes were observed in fasting metabolic outcomes following 14 days of supplementation. In the context of these randomized controlled trials, acute or repeated ketone monoester ingestion in adults with T2D did not lower blood glucose when consumed acutely in a fasted state and did not improve glycemic control following thrice daily premeal ingestion across 14 days. Future studies exploring the mechanistic basis for the (lack of) glucose-lowering effect of exogenous ketone supplementation in T2D and other populations are warranted.NEW & NOTEWORTHY Exogenous ketone supplements can acutely lower blood glucose, suggesting therapeutic potential in individuals with impaired glucose metabolism. However, the effect of exogenous ketones on glucose metabolism in adults with type 2 diabetes has not been investigated in a controlled setting. In adults with type 2 diabetes, ketone monoester ingestion did not lower blood glucose acutely in a fasted state and did not improve glycemic control across thrice daily premeal ingestion across 14 days.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Considering the ability of the health and self-management in diabetes questionnaire (HASMID-10) to verify the impact of self-management on diabetes, we highlight its relevance to scientific research and clinical applicability. However, to date, no study has been conducted to scientifically support its use in other languages. OBJECTIVE: To translate, cross-culturally adapt, and validate the HASMID-10 into the Brazilian Portuguese. DESIGN AND SETTING: A translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation study conducted at Ceuma University. METHODS: Study was conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for the Process of Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Self-Report Measures and Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments. We included participants of both sexes diagnosed with diabetes, aged between 18 and 64 years, and without cognitive deficits or any other limitations that would prevent them from answering the questionnaire. We assessed participants using the problem areas in diabetes (PAID) scale and HASMID-10. We assessed reliability using a test-retest model with a 7-day interval between assessments. We used intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), 95% confidence interval (CI), standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable difference (MDD), Spearman correlation coefficient, and floor and ceiling effects. RESULTS: Sample comprised 116 participants, most of whom were women, overweight, non-practitioners of physical activity, and nonsmokers. We observed significant correlations (P = 0.006; rho = −0.256) between the HASMID-10 and PAID, adequate reliability (ICC = 0.780) and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.796). No ceiling or floor effects were observed. CONCLUSION: HASMID-10 has adequate measurement properties and may be used for Brazilians.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze association of visual, hearing, mental/intellectual, physical and multiple impairments with health conditions and health risk behaviors in Brazil. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study, using data from the 2019 National Health Survey; associations between impairments and presence of cardiovascular disease (CVD), hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), high cholesterol, alcohol abuse and smoking were estimated using logistic regression, thus obtaining the odds ratios (OR). RESULTS: Impairment was reported by 7.6% of the 90,846 participants. Having a impairment was associated with greater odds of reporting chronic conditions, especially CVD (OR = 2.11; 95%CI 1.76;2.54) and DM (OR = 1.78; 95%CI 1.56;2.02 ); visual impairment was associated with greater odds of smoking (OR = 1.52; 95%CI 1.28;1.81); mental/intellectual impairment was inversely related to smoking (OR = 0.45; 95%CI 0.30;0.67) and alcohol abuse (OR = 0.13; 95%CI 0.06;0.26). CONCLUSION: Having any of the impairments studied may be associated with greater odds of having chronic health conditions. MAIN RESULTS: Positive association was identified between having one or more impairments, and health conditions and health risk behaviors. The higher the prevalence of mental/intellectual, physical and multiple impairments, the lower alcohol abuse and smoking. IMPLICATIONS FOR SERVICES: As this population is vulnerable to chronic health conditions, health services need strategies to reduce barriers to access, as well as health promotion actions, such as health education, adapted for people with impairments. PERSPECTIVES: Topics for future studies, examining the inverse relationship between impairments and alcohol abuse and smoking, in addition to acting on the causal chain, so as to prevent health conditions and health risk behaviors.

Bowel intussusception is rare in adults and is usually driven by an underlying pathological process affecting the bowel. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer and its disease course, depending on the initial histology and disease stage, can metastasize to adrenal glands, lungs, bones, brains and contralateral kidney that can be challenging to follow. We present the case of a patient with a history of radical left nephrectomy for RCC that developed an acute bowel obstruction, secondary to an ileal metastasis of RCC. In previous surgeries, small bowel obstruction (SBO) is usually found due to adhesions, nonetheless in a patient with a history of high-grade disease at diagnosis, one must keep in mind the possibility of disease relapse in the setting of SBO.

Algae contain high-quality proteins, dietary fiber, minerals, and phenolic compounds, making them promising alternative ingredients. Since pasta is consumed worldwide, it can be an effective vehicle for incorporating algae. This study compares the nutritional and antioxidant composition of whole-wheat pasta without and with enrichment of an algae mixture (containing Himanthalia elongata and Spirulina) and ascertains the influence of the cooking procedure on their features. Spirulina and H. elongata were also analyzed in parallel for comparison purposes. Macronutrients, chlorides and salt, total and free amino acid profiles, and antioxidant properties (total phenolic content and ferric reducing antioxidant power) were analyzed using AOAC, Mohr's, high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection, and spectrophotometric methods, respectively. The results show a significant increase in fat (70.4%), protein (29.7%), ash (26.5%), and total amino acid (except for serine, tryptophan, isoleucine, and threonine) contents in the raw algae-enriched pasta. The antioxidant activity was also higher (4.15 versus 3.68 g ferrous sulfate eq./g dw, respectively). After cooking, protein, dietary fiber, total amino acids (except threonine) and antioxidant activity were stable in the algae-enriched pasta. Thus, algae can be an excellent ingredient for food applications with health benefits.

AIMS: Sarcopenia generally refers to the age-related reduction in muscle strength, functional ability, and muscle mass. Sarcopenia is a multifactorial condition associated with poor glucose disposal, insulin resistance, and subsequently type 2 diabetes (T2D). The pathophysiological connection between sarcopenia and T2D is complex but likely involves glycemic control, inflammation, oxidative stress, and adiposity. METHODS AND RESULTS: Resistance exercise and aerobic training are two lifestyle interventions that may improve glycemic control in older adults with T2D and counteract sarcopenia. Further, there is evidence that dietary protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, creatine monohydrate, and Vitamin D hold potential to augment some of these benefits from exercise. CONCLUSIONS: The purpose of this narrative review is: (1) discuss the pathophysiological link between age-related sarcopenia and T2D, and (2) discuss lifestyle interventions involving physical activity and nutrition that may counteract sarcopenia and T2D.

Placement of a percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN), to drain and preserve renal function, is a common urologic procedure in the setting of high urinary obstruction. Colonic perforation is a rare complication, with an incidence of 0.2-0.5%. In these situations, literature advises the withdrawal of the PCN into the colon, ureteral stenting, zero-diet, broad spectrum antibiotics and only to remove the catheter days after. Here we describe the case of a patient in whom a PCN was placed transversing the colon, in whom it was retrieved under endoscopic control, with use of endoclips to control the hemorrhage and close the perforation.

BACKGROUND: Sleep disorders have a negative impact on health, being associated with neurocognitive problems, cardiovascular diseases and obesity, influencing children's development and learning. OBJECTIVE: To assess the sleep pattern of people with Down syndrome (DS) and correlate changes with functionality and behavior. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the sleep pattern in adults with DS > 18 years old. Twenty-two participants were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Functional Independence Measure and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, and the 11 who presented indications of disorders by the screening questionnaires were referred to polysomnography. Statistical tests were performed using a significance level of 5%, including sample normality tests and correlation tests (sleep and functionality). RESULTS: Impairment in sleep architecture was found due to an increase in the rate of awakenings in 100% of the participants, a decrease in the number of slow waves, and a high prevalence of sleep disordered breathing (SDB), with higher averages in the Apnea and Hypopnea Index (AHI) in the group. There was a negative correlation between sleep quality and global functionality (p = 0.011) and the motor (p = 0.074), cognitive (p = 0.010), and personal care (p = 0.072) dimensions in the group. Global and hyperactivity behavior changes were related to worse sleep quality (p = 0.072; p = 0.015, respectively). CONCLUSION: There is an impairment in the sleep quality of adults with DS, with an increase in the rate of awakenings, a decrease in the number of slow waves, and a high prevalence of SDB affecting this population in the functional and behavioral aspects.


ANTECEDENTES: Os distúrbios de sono têm impacto negativo na saúde, estando associados a problemas neurocognitivos, doenças cardiovasculares e obesidade, influenciando no desenvolvimento e aprendizado. OBJETIVO: Avaliar o padrão de sono de pessoas com síndrome de Down (SD) e correlacionar as alterações com a funcionalidade e comportamento. MéTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo transversal para avaliação do padrão de sono em adultos com SD > 18 anos. Foram avaliados 22 participantes, através do Índice de Qualidade do Sono de Pittsburgh, da Medida de Independência Funcional e do Questionaário de Capacidades e Dificuldades. Os 11 participantes que apresentaram indicativos de presença de distúrbios pelos questionários de triagem foram indicados a polissonografia. Os testes estatísticos foram realizados com nível de significância de 5%, incluindo testes de normalidade e testes de correlação (sono e funcionalidade). RESULTADOS: Foi encontrado prejuízo na arquitetura de sono pelo aumento do índice de despertares em 100% dos participantes, diminuição na quantidade de ondas lentas, e alta prevalência de distúrbio respiratório do sono (DRS), com maiores médias nos Índices de Apneia e Hipopneia (IAH). Houve correlação negativa entre a qualidade de sono e a funcionalidade global (p = 0,011), e as dimensões motora (p = 0,074), cognitiva (p = 0,010) e cuidados pessoais (p = 0,072). As alterações de comportamento global e comportamentos de hiperatividade foram relacionados à pior qualidade do sono (p = 0,072; p = 0,015, respectivamente). CONCLUSãO: Existe prejuízo na qualidade de sono de adultos com SD, com aumento de índice de despertares, diminuição na quantidade de ondas lentas, e alta prevalência de DRS, afetando essa população nos aspectos funcionais e comportamentais.

RESUMEN

Chorea is a hyperkinetic movement disorder characterized by a continuous flow of rapid, random, and involuntary bodily contractions, usually affecting the distal limbs. When these movements are more proximal or assume a larger amplitude with a flinging or kicking character, they're referred to as ballism. These disorders can be associated with several causes, ranging from genetic and neurovascular to toxic, autoimmune, and metabolic. Non-ketotic hyperglycemic hemichorea-hemiballismus is a rare consequence of decompensated diabetes mellitus with a poorly understood pathogenesis but with characteristic MRI T1 and T2 hyperintense abnormalities in the contralateral basal ganglia. We present the case of a 74-year-old woman with a history of poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and arterial hypertension who was admitted to the emergency room due to a two-day history of rapid non-stereotypical involuntary movements of the left side of her body. A neurological exam showed large amplitude and repetitive left-side body movements. Glycemia was 541 mg/dL with no ketosis. Her glycosylated hemoglobin was 14%. A brain CT excluded acute abnormalities. Brain MRI showed a discrete T1 hyperintense signal involving the right corpus striatum, compatible with non-ketotic hyperglycemic hemichorea-hemiballism syndrome. After metabolic optimization with insulin and haloperidol, the movements resolved. Early recognition and metabolic control are essential to the resolution of choreiform movements. Our aim is to raise awareness for hyperglycemic hemichorea-hemiballismus, in which decompensated diabetes is the early sign of diagnosis.

Abstract Background Sleep disorders have a negative impact on health, being associated with neurocognitive problems, cardiovascular diseases and obesity, influencing children's development and learning. Objective To assess the sleep pattern of people with Down syndrome (DS) and correlate changes with functionality and behavior. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the sleep pattern in adults with DS > 18 years old. Twenty-two participants were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Functional Independence Measure and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, and the 11 who presented indications of disorders by the screening questionnaires were referred to polysomnography. Statistical tests were performed using a significance level of 5%, including sample normality tests and correlation tests (sleep and functionality). Nanocarriers have been successfully used to solubilize, deliver, and increase the bioavailability of curcumin (CUR), but slow CUR release rates hinder its use as a topical photosensitizer in antimicrobial photodynamic therapy. A photo-responsive polymer (PRP) was designed for the light-triggered release of CUR with an effective light activation-dependent antimicrobial response. The characterization of the PRP was compared with non-responsive micelles comprising Pluronics™ P123 and F127. According to the findings, the PRP formed photo-responsive micelles in the nanometric scale (< 100 nm) with a lower critical micelle concentration (3.74 × 10-4 M-1, 5.8 × 10-4 M-1, and 7.2 × 10-6 M-1 for PRP, F127, P123, respectively, at 25°C) and higher entrapment efficiency of CUR (88.7, 77.2, and 72.3% for PRP, F127, and P123 micelles, respectively) than the pluronics evaluated. The PRP provided enhanced protection of CUR compared to P123 micelles, as demonstrated in fluorescence quenching studies. The light-triggered release of CUR from PRP occurred with UV light irradiation (at 355 nm and 25 mW cm-2) and a cumulative release of 88.34% of CUR within 1 h compared to 80% from pluronics after 36 h. In vitro studies showed that CUR-loaded PRP was non-toxic to mammal cell, showed inactivation of the pathogenic microorganisms Candida albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and decreased biofilm biomass when associated with blue light (455 nm, 33.84 J/cm2). The findings show that the CUR-loaded PRP micelle is a viable option for antimicrobial activity.
