RESUMEN

Intermediate rhinoplasty, the correction of cleft lip nose deformities, is performed between the time of primary and secondary rhinoplasties, which is at ~6 years of age. Although intermediate rhinoplasty reduces psychological stress in school-aged children through improvements in appearance, studies on intermediate rhinoplasty are scarce. Hence, in this study, we aimed to evaluate the long-term outcomes of intermediate rhinoplasty in patients with unilateral cleft lip. Twenty-three patients with unilateral cleft lip who underwent intermediate rhinoplasty without primary rhinoplasty from 1997 to 2004 were enrolled in this retrospective study. They were categorized into total, male, and female groups. Photogrammetric analysis of 9 proportional, 5 angular, and 6 nostril-related parameters was performed using photographs that were taken after skeletal maturity had been reached; these parameters were compared with those of normal controls. The cleft group had significantly lower dome-to-columellar ratio, nasal sill ratio, labial-columellar angle, nostril width ratio, nostril height (base) ratio, nostril one-fourth medial part ratio, and nostril area ratio measurement and significantly higher alar width/mouth width ratio, columella height/alar width ratio, nasal tip protrusion/alar base width ratio, nasal dorsum angle, and nostril dimension in the cleft side values than the control group. After intermediate rhinoplasty, significant nasal improvement was achieved, including sufficient nasal tip projection, nasal height, nasal protrusion, and a relatively symmetric nasal tip without tip deviation. Intermediate rhinoplasty may contribute to reducing the psychosocial stress of school-aged children with unilateral cleft lip.

Molecular testing for high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) genotypes is important in screening for cervical cancer. In this study, we evaluated the performance of a newly developed Allplex HPV HR Detection assay in comparison with the Cobas HPV Test. A total of 1,275 cervical specimens obtained from a healthcare center between August 2021 and May 2022 were analyzed. The overall agreement for hrHPV detection was 98.4%, with higher agreement observed for HPV-16 (99.7%) and HPV-18 (99.8%) compared to other hrHPV genotypes (97.2%). Sequencing revealed that the majority of discrepancies was genotyped accurately by the Allplex HPV HR Detection assay with the exception of one false positive for HPV-16 and two false positives for other hrHPV genotypes. The Allplex HPV HR Detection assay showed almost perfect agreement with the Cobas HPV test, emphasizing its utility in hrHPV screening and monitoring.

Free radical is a marker in various inflammatory diseases. The antioxidant effect protects us from this damage, which also plays an essential role in preventing inflammation. Inflammation protects the body from biological stimuli, and pro-inflammatory mediators are negatively affected in the immune system. Inflammation caused by LPS is an endotoxin found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, which induces immune cells to produce inflammatory cytokines such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase. Based on this, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of plant extracts were investigated. First, the main phenolic compounds for the five peaks obtained from Stachys affinis extract (SAE) were identified. The antioxidant effect of each phenolic compound was confirmed through HPLC analysis before and after the competitive binding reaction between DPPH and the extract. Afterward, the anti-inflammatory effect of each phenolic compound was confirmed through competitive binding between COX2 and the extract in HPLC analysis. Lastly, the anti-inflammatory effect of SAE was confirmed through in vitro experiments and also confirmed in terms of structural binding through molecular docking. This study confirmed that phenolic compounds in SAE extract have potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and may provide information for primary screening of medicinal plants.

BACKGROUND: Whereas mechanical thrombectomy (MT) has become standard-of-care treatment for patients with salvageable brain tissue after acute stroke caused by large-vessel occlusions, the results of MT in patients with medium-vessel occlusions (MEVOs), particularly in the posterior cerebral artery (PCA), are not well known. METHODS: Using data from the international Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry (STAR), we assessed presenting characteristics and clinical outcomes for patients who underwent MT for primary occlusions in the P2 PCA segment. As a subanalysis, we compared the PCA MeVO outcomes with STAR's anterior circulation MeVO outcomes, namely middle cerebral artery (MCA) M2 and M3 segments. RESULTS: Of the 9812 patients in STAR, 43 underwent MT for isolated PCA MeVOs. The patients' median age was 69 years (interquartile range 61-79), and 48.8% were female. The median NIH Stroke Scale score was 9 (range 6-17). After recanalization, 67.4% of patients achieved successful recanalization (modified treatment in cerebral infarction score [mTICI] ≥ 2b), with a first-pass success rate of 44.2%, and 39.6% achieved a modified Rankin score of 0-2 at 90 days. Nine patients (20.9%) had died by the 90-day follow-up. In comparison with M2 and M3 MeVOs, there were no differences in presenting characteristics among the three groups. Patients with PCA MeVOs were less likely to undergo intra-arterial thrombolysis (4.7% PCA vs. 10.1% M2 vs. 16.2% M3, p = 0.046) or to achieve successful recanalization (mTICI ≥ 2b, 67.4%, 86.7%, 82.3%, respectively, p < 0.001); however, there were no differences in the rates of successful first-pass recanalization (44.2%, 49.8%, 52.3%, respectively, p = 0.65). CONCLUSIONS: We describe the STAR experience performing MT in patients with PCA MeVOs. Our analysis supports that successful first-pass recanalization can be achieved in PCA MEVOs at a rate similar to that in MCA MeVOs, although further study and possible innovation may be necessary to improve successful PCA MeVO recanalization rates.

Charcot neuroarthropathy (CN) is a chronic degenerative disorder of bones and joints, mostly associated with diabetes mellitus and human immunodeficiency virus. CN of the upper limb is rare, with only 58 case reports identified on PubMed with the majority of cases being closely associated with syringomyelia. Very rarely, cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) is associated with CN of the upper limb; with very few literature reporting this association. This case report presents a rare case of Charcot arthropathy of the shoulder caused by CSM. A 57-year-old female presented to the emergency department following trauma to the right shoulder. On clinical examination, there was evidence of tenderness, extensive swelling, and bruising with a lack of range of motion along with numbness in the right arm and legs. Through radiographic and laboratory investigations, a diagnosis of CN secondary to CSM was made. A reverse total shoulder arthroplasty was performed however, this was complicated at two weeks with an atraumatic glenoid fracture and dislocation. First-stage revision surgery was then performed to allow fracture healing pending second-stage revision surgery. This report provides insight into the very rare possibility of the association of CN of the shoulder with CSM. A review of the literature suggests reverse shoulder arthroplasty is the gold standard for cases of severe bone and soft tissue damage. When undergoing investigations for Charcot neuroarthropathy, physicians must undertake a full detailed history along with a detailed neurological examination and imaging of the cervical spine to not miss the association with CSM.

BACKGROUND & AIM: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a heterogeneous disorder that affects the kidney structure and function. This study investigated the effect of the interaction between genetic factors and dietary pattern on kidney dysfunction in Korean adults. METHODS: Baseline data were obtained from the Ansan and Ansung Study of the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study involving 8230 participants aged 40-69 years. Kidney dysfunction was defined as an estimated glomerular filtration rate < 90 mL/minute/1.73 m2. Genomic DNAs genotyped on the Affymetrix® Genome-Wide Human SNP array 5.0 were isolated from peripheral blood. A genome-wide association study using a generalized linear model was performed on 1,590,162 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). To select significant SNPs, the threshold criterion was set at P-value < 5 × 10-8. Linkage disequilibrium clumping was performed based on the R2 value, and 94 SNPs had a significant effect. Participants were divided into two groups based on their generic risk score (GRS): the low-GR group had GRS > 0, while the high-GR group had GRS ≤ 0. RESULTS: Three distinct dietary patterns were extracted, namely, the "prudent pattern," "flour-based and animal food pattern," and "white rice pattern," to analyze the effect of dietary pattern on kidney function. In the "flour-based and animal food pattern," higher pattern scores were associated with a higher prevalence of kidney dysfunction in both the low and high GR groups (P for trend < 0.0001 in the low-, high-GR groups of model 1; 0.0050 and 0.0065 in the low-, high-GR groups of model 2, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: The results highlight a significant association between the 'flour-based and animal food pattern' and higher kidney dysfunction prevalence in individuals with both low and high GR. These findings suggest that personalized nutritional interventions based on GR profiles may become the basis for presenting GR-based individual dietary patterns for kidney dysfunction.

Nasal irrigation is crucial following endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), especially for managing chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). This study assessed the effectiveness of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) irrigation during the post-ESS period of patients with CRS without nasal polyposis. In this prospective, single-blind randomized controlled trial, 49 patients (NAC, n = 24; saline, n = 25) undergoing ESS were assigned to receive either NAC or saline irrigations twice daily for a month. The preoperative and postoperative assessments conducted included Lund-Macka (LM) and Lund-Kennedy (LK) endoscopic scores, the Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) scale, and the Sino-Nasal Outcome Test-20 (SNOT-20). At 2 weeks, 1 month, and 3 months after the operation, endoscopic findings and symptoms were evaluated. Both groups showed no differences in age, sex, LM and LK scores, NOSE scale, and SNOT-20 preoperatively. In terms of the endoscopic findings regarding the sinonasal mucosa after ESS, the NAC group had slightly lower scores 2 weeks, 1 month, and 3 months after the operation, but this difference was not statistically significant. The NAC group showed significant improvement in VAS scores, namely, postnasal drip (1.0, p = 0.041), smell dysfunction (0.8, p = 0.003), and crust (1.5, p = 0.034), compared to the control group's scores of 2.6, 4.7, and 3.6, respectively, 2 weeks after the operation, although no significant differences were observed in VAS scores for any symptoms 1 and 3 months after the operation. NAC was well tolerated, and no adverse events were reported. NAC irrigation showed benefits over saline irrigation in terms of improving postnasal drip, smell dysfunction, and crust after ESS for CRS without nasal polyposis in the immediate postoperative period.

In poultry industry, the strategies for elevating of protein accretion with minimizing fat deposition have been applied, and seaweed algae has been focused one of the potential candidates. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of algae (Ascophllum Nodosum) extract (AE) on the growth performance and body composition of broiler chickens. A total of 240 one-day-old Ross 308 broiler chickens were allotted to 4 dietary treatment groups and fed experimental diets containing different concentrations of AE for 35 d as follows: 0 mg/kg (control, CON), 1,250 mg/kg (LAE), 2,500 mg/kg (MAE), or 5,000 mg/kg (HAE). At the end of the experiment, 40 chickens were sacrificed and samples of their blood, breast muscle, liver, and abdominal fat were collected and analyzed. Growth performance was improved in the LAE group compared to that in the CON (P < 0.05). The weight of abdominal fat was lower in the HAE group than in the CON group (P < 0.05). Serum triglyceride levels were also decreased in the HAE group compared to those in the CON and LAE groups (P < 0.05). Adipocytes were smaller in the HAE group than in all other treatments, and their size distribution was shifted more towards smaller adipocytes compared to those in the LAE group (P < 0.05). Relative mRNA levels in abdominal adipose tissue of fatty acid synthase and stearyl-CoA desaturase, which are involved in fatty acid synthesis, were all downregulated by supplementation with AE (P < 0.05). In addition, the protein levels of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma were decreased and the ratio of phosphorylated acetyl-CoA carboxylase to total ACC was increased, both of which indicate that lipogenesis was suppressed (P < 0.05). Hepatic transcript levels of sterol regulatory element-binding protein and its downstream enzymes fatty acid synthase and sterol-CoA desaturase were also lower in all AE treatments compared to those in the CON group (P < 0.05). These results indicate that the seaweed algae (Ascophllum Nodosum) extract reduces fat accumulation in both adipose tissue and the liver by modulating lipogenesis.

The ETV6::ABL1 fusion defines a subgroup of myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms with eosinophilia and tyrosine kinase gene fusions. We report a case of extramedullary involvement and leukemic transformation in myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN), where ETV6::ABL1 was initially overlooked but later detected in the blast phase. ETV6::ABL1 burden was very low during the MPN phase but increased substantially during the blast phase. This correlation between ETV6::ABL1 burden and disease phenotype indicated that an immature leukemic clone is the sole carrier of ETV6::ABL1, suggesting that ETV6::ABL1 is not the primary driver of the MPN phase. Moreover, only the blast phase revealed somatic mutations in RUNX1 and STAG2, or complex karyotype, while the MPN phase revealed no molecular and cytogenetic abnormalities. Therefore, it remains uncertain whether the small clone of ETV6::ABL1 influenced the manifestation of MPN or if another underlying driver was responsible for the MPN phase, necessitating further research.

While the hazardous effects of microplastics (MPs) are increasingly reported, it remains uncertain if MPs induce inner ear dysfunction. Nonetheless, prevalence of inner ear dysfunction was observed across all age groups. In this study, we investigated whether MP polyethylene affect inner ear function in a murine model. To detect hearing loss and balance defect after polyethylene (PE) exposure, we evaluated hearing threshold levels, assessed cerebral glucose metabolism, conducted transcriptome analysis, and performed behavioral studies. C57BL/6 J mice (5-week-old) were grouped into control (n = 10) and PE-fed groups (n = 10). Mice were orally administered 100 ppm/100 µL (equivalent to 10 µg) of PE every day for 4 months. We identified the accumulation of PE in the cochlea and vestibular region. The fragmented PE in inner ear was 3.00 ± 0.38 µm in size; the administered PE concentration was 1.14 ± 1.06 mg/g. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry confirmed that the properties of the MP were identical with those of PE fed to the mice. Transcriptomic analysis showed up-regulation of PER1, NR4A3 and CEBPB at the PE exposed inner ear tissue and it was confirmed using qRT-PCR, western blotting, and immunofluorescence staining. We observed abnormalities in balance related behavior assessment in the PE group. Exposure to PE increased the hearing thresholds and decreased glucose metabolism in the bilateral lateral entorhinal cortex, right primary auditory cortex, and right secondary auditory cortex. We can conclude that PE exposure induced inner ear dysfunction such as hearing loss and balance disorder.

In this study, the distinctive chemical fingerprints that contribute to the flavor characteristics of various protein materials, such as insects, plant-based protein, and livestock, were investigated. In edible-insects (Tenebrio molitor and Protaetia brevitarsis), aldehydes and cyclic volatile compounds were the predominant volatile components and had distinct flavor characteristics such as cheesy, sharp, green, floral, and sweet. In contrast, the relatively high levels of pyrazines and furans in plant-based protein materials, such as textured vegetable and pea protein. They included unique flavor properties characterized by sweet, fatty, grassy, creamy, and roasted. The primary volatile chemical group detected in livestock protein materials, such as a pork and a beef, was ketones. The pork sample showed specific flavors, such as alcoholic, green, and fruity, while a beef presented distinctive flavor, including creamy, fruity, and alcoholic. Based on the results, this research provided the understanding of the flavor aspects of diverse protein materials.

Background: Webtoon, a digital form of comics created in the Republic of Korea, has spread widely with advantages that anyone can become a cartoonist and that autonomy of creation is guaranteed. The purpose of this study is to identify the working conditions of webtoon writers and analyze the relationship between these conditions and depressive symptoms. Methods: A survey was carried out on webtoon writers and a survey data of 312 webtoon writers were analyzed. The questionnaire included basic socio-demographic characteristics, webtoon writers' contractual type, fields of activity (webtoon creator, story writer, illustrator), and working environment (labor discretion etc.). We investigated depressive symptoms and analyzed its relation to the work environment of webtoon writers. Results: Webtoon writers were exposed to long working hours, high labor intensity, limited labor discretion, negative comments from readers, and had a high prevalence of depressive symptoms. Compared to story writers who contracted directly with platforms, story writers and the illustrators who contracted with content providers (CPs) were 9.51 times (OR = 9.51, 95% CI = 1.47 - 61.33) and 6.47 times (OR = 6.47, 95% CI = 1.08 - 38.75) more likely to have depressive symptoms, respectively. Conclusions: This study emphasizes the urgent necessity to improve the overall working environment in the webtoon industry and implement measures to tackle the escalating mental health challenges faced by illustrators and story writers contracted with CPs, especially given the increasing popularity of novel comics.

PURPOSE: Gastritis, one of the most common clinically diagnosed conditions, is defined as the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the gastric mucosa. Drugs for gastritis include histamine-2 receptor antagonists and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which reduce acidity in the stomach, and antacids, which neutralize acid. Esomeprazole is a PPI for gastroesophageal reflux disease and gastric and duodenal ulcers that has been shown to be safe and effective at a 10 mg dose. Dual-release drugs have not yet been approved for the treatment of gastritis domestically or internationally. In this study, a dual delayed-release (DR) esomeprazole (10 mg), was compared to famotidine (20 mg) to determine its effectiveness in the treatment of gastritis. METHODS: This study was a randomized, open-label, multiple-dose, 2-treatment, 2-period, 2-sequence crossover study with a 7-day washout between periods. In each period, the subjects were administered one dose of esomeprazole (10 mg) or famotidine (20 mg) for 7 days at each period. The 24-hour gastric pH was recorded after single and multiple doses. The percentage of time (duration%) that the pH was maintained above 4 in the 24 hours after 7 days of repeated dosing was evaluated. FINDINGS: The mean percentages of time that the gastric pH was above 4 after multiple doses over 7 days of a dual DR esomeprazole (10 mg) and famotidine (20 mg) was 47.31% ± 14.85% and 23.88% ± 10.73%. IMPLICATIONS: Multiple doses of a dual DR esomeprazole (10 mg) showed effective gastric acid secretion suppression compared to famotidine with comparable safety and tolerability. These results provide evidence supporting the clinical use of a dual DR esomeprazole (10 mg) to treat gastritis. CLINICALTRIALS: gov identifier: NCT04967014.

Angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4) has been identified as an adipokine involved in several non-metabolic and metabolic diseases, including angiogenesis, glucose homeostasis, and lipid metabolism. To date, the role of ANGPTL4 in cancer growth and progression, and metastasis, has been variable. Accumulating evidence suggests that proteolytic processing and posttranslational modifications of ANGPTL4 can significantly alter its function, and may contribute to the multiple and conflicting roles of ANGPTL4 in a tissue-dependent manner. With the growing interest in ANGPTL4 in cancer diagnosis and therapy, we aim to provide an up-to-date review of the implications of ANGPTL4 as a biomarker/oncogene in cancer metabolism, metastasis, and the tumor microenvironment (TME). In cancer cells, ANGPTL4 plays an important role in regulating metabolism by altering intracellular glucose, lipid, and amino acid metabolism. We also highlight the knowledge gaps and future prospect of ANGPTL4 in lymphatic metastasis and perineural invasion through various signaling pathways, underscoring its importance in cancer progression and prognosis. Through this review, a better understanding of the role of ANGPTL4 in cancer progression within the TME will provide new insights into other aspects of tumorigenesis and the potential therapeutic value of ANGPTL4.

Robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP) has improved patient recovery, but achieving optimal functional outcomes remains a challenge, especially early urinary continence. The Modified Apical Dissection (MAD) technique has been suggested to improve early continence compared to conventional RALP. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central databases was conducted to identify studies on MAD from inception to March 2024. The risk of bias was evaluated using the ROBINS-I tool. Primary outcomes assessed included urinary continence, positive surgical margin rate, biochemical recurrence rates, and complication rates. Out of 789 studies screened initially, we selected 8 studies that met our inclusion criteria. Our analysis showed that patients who underwent the MAD technique had a significantly higher likelihood of achieving early urinary continence compared to those undergoing conventional RALP at the initial follow-up (Odds Ratio [OR] = 4.0, 95% CI = 1.87-8.57). This advantage continued at 1 month (OR = 5.44, 95% CI = 2.98-9.92), 3 months (OR = 5.36, 95% CI = 2.26-12.71), and 6 months (OR = 5.18, 95% CI = 1.51-17.75), though no significant difference was noted at 12 months. There were no significant differences in positive surgical margin rate or biochemical recurrence rate between MAD and conventional RALP. The overall complication rate was 10.9% (95% CI = 8.10-14.06), with most complications being classified as minor (Clavien-Dindo I-II). In summary, our meta-analysis suggests that the MAD technique may lead to earlier recovery of urinary continence without compromising oncologic outcomes in patients undergoing RALP. While there are published studies on the outcomes of MAD, only a few have the appropriate design with a comparison group needed for meta-analysis and discussing various endpoints. More randomized controlled trials are necessary, but the current literature still lacks retrospective studies with comparison groups.

Introduction: Previous studies on adolescent smoking cessation behavior based on the transtheoretical model have primarily focused on the development of cessation programs. Attempting to quit smoking is a prerequisite for executing smoking cessation. Appropriate methods must be selected based on the characteristics and intentions of individuals to increase smokers' satisfaction and success rates in quitting. Therefore, this study aimed to identify changing processes influencing the stages of change associated with successful smoking cessation among adolescents and examined the related factors. This descriptive study explored a transtheoretical model of different stages of changes in smoking cessation behavior among adolescent smokers. Methods: The participants included 237 middle and high school students in South Korea. We examined the differences in stages of changes in smoking cessation behaviors based on general characteristics, smoking-related characteristics, smoking cessation change processes (cognitive and behavioral), smoking decisional balance (pros and cons of smoking), and self-efficacy. Results: The probability of reaching the preparation stage of smoking cessation was significantly lower among participants who did not know their father's educational level than among those who knew their father's educational level. Conversely, this probability was significantly higher among participants whose mothers had a college or higher education level and those who did not know their mother's educational level than in those whose mothers had a high school or lower education level. Conclusion: These findings indicated that parental education is a significant predictor of the preparation stage of smoking cessation, highlighting the importance of the family environment in facilitating smoking cessation among adolescents. Accordingly, communication and support at home could help reinforce adolescents' determination to quit smoking and make relevant plans. Thus, smoking cessation support should stress the need to enhance communication at home.

BACKGROUND/AIM: This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with non-sentinel lymph node (non-SLN) metastasis in case of hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer with cN0 on preoperative exam, where the sentinel lymph node (SLN) is positive. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of medical records from the Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital, spanning from January 2013 to January 2020, focusing on patients with HR+, HER2- breast cancer. Specifically, we collected the clinical and pathological data for those patients who underwent axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) due to positive SLN. RESULTS: Among the 166 patients who underwent ALND after positive SLNs, median patient age was 52 years. Univariate analyses demonstrated a significant association between non-SLN metastasis and the number of positive SLNs (p=0.039), SLN positive ratio (p<0.001), and primary tumor size (p=0.018). Multivariate analysis revealed that an SLN ratio >0.55 (p=0.004, HR=3.007, 95% CI=1.427-6.335) was independently associated with non-SLN metastasis. However, neither the number of positive SLN nor primary tumor size showed associations with non-SLN metastases. CONCLUSION: In patients with HR+, HER2- breast cancer who are cN0, completion of ALND should be considered when the positive SLN ratio is ≥0.55. This approach aims to provide the opportunity for survival benefit through additional adjuvant therapy or to contribute to de-escalation of unnecessary surgery.

This retrospective study aimed to compare the outcomes of modified double-flanged sutureless scleral fixation versus sutured scleral fixation. Medical records of 65 eyes from 65 patients who underwent double-flanged scleral fixation (flange group) or conventional scleral fixation (suture group) between 2021 and 2022 were reviewed. Visual and refractive outcomes, as well as postoperative complications, were compared 1, 2, and 6 months after surgery. We included 31 eyes in the flange group and 34 eyes in the suture group. At 6 months postoperatively, the flange group showed better uncorrected visual acuity (0.251 ± 0.328 vs. 0.418 ± 0.339 logMAR, P = 0.041) and a smaller myopic shift (- 0.74 ± 0.93 vs. - 1.33 ± 1.15 diopter, P = 0.007) compared to the suture group. The flange group did not experience any instances of iris capture, while the suture group had iris capture in 10 eyes (29.4%; P < 0.001). In the flange group, all intraocular lenses remained centered, whereas in the suture group, they were decentered in 8 eyes (23.5%; P = 0.005). The double-flanged technique not only prevented iris capture and decentration of the intraocular lens but also reduced myopic shift by enhancing the stability of the intraocular lens.
