RESUMEN

Background: To determine the seroprevalence of human cystic echinococcosis/hydatidosis which is one of the most important zoonotic diseases by ELISA using native antigen B in Semnan and Sorkheh, Semnan province, Iran, where no significant information about human infection exists. Methods: Overall, 957 human serum samples were randomly prepared from Semnan, Sorkheh, and its 13 surrounding villages in different seasons from 2017 to 2018. Antigen B was prepared from native hydatid cyst fluid of domestic sheep. All serum samples were evaluated by ELISA while the suspected cases were rechecked. The cut-off was calculated as the X ¯ ±2SD. Results: Overall, 48(5%) out of 957 (422 males and 535 females) were positive for hydatidosis. The seropositivity based on sex showed 20(2.1%) out of 422 in males and 28(2.9%) out of 535 in females. The distribution of seropositive samples based on residence area showed 41 (4.3) out of 882 in urban and 7 (0.7) out of 75 in rural areas. The highest seroprevalence cases was among housewives (2.1%) followed by employers (1.5%). Based on education, source of drinking water, and age groups the highest seropositivity was observed in high school and less, in the plumping water consumers, and 50 to 59 yr old age group, respectively. There was a significant difference between seropositivity with occupation, literacy, and age group (P<0.05). Semnan with 4% seropositivity had the highest prevalence followed by Sorkheh, county. Conclusion: High prevalence of the disease in this area emphasizes the importance of increasing people's awareness about hydatidosis.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Hysterectomy as kind of surgery in which the uterus is removed, is carried out in a very high number around the world. Uterus is important because of its impact on feminism and fertility, so the exit of this important organ can lead to many physical and mental disorders. These mental disorders can affect the quality of life of patients and ultimately lead to a reduction in the hope of their lives. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study was cross sectional on 50 women under hysterectomy referred to the Semnan Amir-Al-Momenin hospital in 2017, in which patients were evaluated in terms of effective subsets of life expectancy that were determined from the angle of view of miller questionnaire, and finally the data were analyzed by SPSS v. 19. RESULTS: The results showed that there is no significant difference between hope to life before and after hysterectomy in those who underwent hysterectomy. The results of our study showed that age, occupation, and education factors in patients who participated in this study did not have any meaningful relation with life expectancy after hysterectomy surgery and there was also a statistically significant correlation between the scores of hope for life before hysterectomy with the rate of education in individuals. CONCLUSION: Hysterectomy does not affect the patients' quality of live and don't reduce the hope of living in people who underwent surgery.

RESUMEN

Echinococcus granulosus causes human cystic echinococcosis as an important public health problem in many regions of the world. There are some problems in primary diagnosis such as cross-reaction with sera from patients with other parasitic disease in serological tests. The use of an appropriate source of antigenic material is a very important and crucial point in the improvement of the serodiagnostic features such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. We expressed and purified recombinant AgB of Echinococcus granulosus and used as antigen in ELISA method. Serum samples were given from 36 cystic hydatid disease patients that have been confirmed by surgical operation as well as 36 healthy individuals sera were tested by ELISA method using recombinant AgB and compared with commercial kit (Euroimmun) for specificity and sensitivities value. The sensitivity of 91.66% and specificity of 97.22% were determined by homemade kit.
