Stabilizing effect of milk angiogenin on the crystal structure of biological fluids.

We revealed a new property of angiogenin to restore the crystal structure of biological fluids (human blood plasma and exudates) impaired in various pathologies.

[Blood viscosity, deformability and morphological types of erythrocytes in vibration disease]. / Viazkost' krovi, deformiruemost' i morfologicheskie tipy éritrotsitov pri vibratsionnoi bolezni.

The study evaluating pathogenesis of microcirculatory disorders in subjects with vibration disease covered 63 patients. The patients demonstrated trends to low blood (and, especially, serum) viscosity, to decreased RBC deformability evaluated by filtration and viscosimetry methods, higher number of degenerative and reversibly changed RBC (echinocytes and stomatocytes). The authors discuss the role of these rheological disorders in pathogenesis of angiodystonic syndrome in vibration disease.

[Work environment and health status in workers of decorative polyvinylchloride film production]. / Usloviia truda i sostoianie zdorovía rabochikh proizvodstva dekorativnoi polivinilkhloridnoi plënki.

The concentrations of toxic substances in working space air of polyvinyl chloride film production was determined, 130 workers were examined. The content of Dioctyl phthalate and cyclohexanone surpassed the standard values by 1.5-3 times. 67.7% of workers complained on disorders of digestion organs, 7.9% workers had disorders of vegetative functions; microsomal system activity was increased, enzymatic activity changed.

[Current aspects in the clinical picture and diagnosis of gluten enteropathy in children]. / Sovremennye aspekty klinicheskoi kartiny i diagnostiki gliutenovoi énteropatii u detei.

Clinical, biochemical, bacteriologic, instrumental and morphological investigations were performed in 52 children with celiac disease (15 patients with the acute phase and 37 ones during incomplete remission proved by clinical and laboratory data). Incidence of secondary gastroenterological affections presenting as chronic gastroduodenitis, chronic pancreatitis or alterations in the small intestinal mucosa was monitored. Therefore, follow-up of the children with the above diseases was found to be mandatory as was a long-term pathogenetically substantiated treatment with gliadin-free diet.

[The hemodynamic status during ultraviolet irradiation of the blood in patients with chronic nonspecific lung diseases]. / Sostoianie gemodinamiki pri ul'trafioletovom obluchenii krovi u bol'nykh khronicheskimi nespetsificheskimi zabolevaniiami legkikh.

Central and organic hemodynamics were studied in extracorporeal UV irradiation of blood (EUVRB) conducted in patients with chronic nonspecific diseases of the lungs. Within the first postexposure day the majority of the hemodynamic parameters showed marked fluctuations. EUVRB brought about a persistent reduction in pulmonary-vascular resistance in bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive bronchitis patients. The latter also achieved a decline in pulmonary hypertension. A positive trend arose after EUVRB in red cell histo- and morphograms. Relevant hemodynamic EUVRB mechanisms are discussed.

[The efficacy of the extracorporeal ultraviolet irradiation of autologous blood in the treatment of chronic nonspecific lung diseases]. / Effektivnost' ékstrakorporal'nogo ul'trafioletovogo oblucheniia autokrovi v lechenii khronicheskikh nespetsificheskikh zabolevanii legkikh.

The paper presents the results of treating patients with chronic nonspecific diseases of the lung by the use of extracorporeal ultraviolet autoblood irradiation (EUVABI). The marked clinical effect recorded after an EUVABI course coincided with the normalization of an erythrocytic membrane morphoform, which suggests that the severity of allergic and inflammatory reactions was liquidated and blood viscosity was improved. EUVABI led to positive changes in the pattern of morphotypes in the crystallogram of plasma, except the patients who showed no clinical effect, which indicates that plasma crystallography can be used as a diagnostic test in predicting the results of EUVABI application.

[The effect of ultraviolet irradiation of patients' blood on the morphofunctional status of erythrocytes]. / Vliianie ul'trafioletovogo oblucheniia krovi bol'nykh na morfofunktsional'noe sostoianie éritrotsitov.

The morphofunctional status of red blood cells was studied in patients with terminal renal failure associated with pyo-inflammatory complications treated by means of ultraviolet radiation of autologous blood. The authors have established that ultraviolet radiation of autologous blood results in the increase of the discocyte count and red blood cell activation, evidenced by the rise of the young red blood cell count, of the red blood cell population with marked activity of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, of the content of sulfhydryl groups, and by the increase of erythrocytic adhesion.

Red cell and leukocyte morphology and function have been examined in donor blood UV irradiated in a flow closed circulation. The studies have revealed that a single UV irradiation enhances red cell resistance to chemical hemolysis, helps them acquire normal shape; besides, it improves leukocytic functional activity, that manifests by enhanced phosphatase activity and augmentation of the granulocyte phagocytic activity.
