RESUMEN

Biomass-derived carbon materials are gaining attention for their environmental and economic advantages in waste resource recovery, particularly for their potential as high-energy materials for alkali metal ion storage. However, ensuring the reliability of secondary battery anodes remains a significant hurdle. Here, we report Areca Catechu sheath-inner part derived carbon (referred to as ASIC) as a high-performance anode for both rechargeable Li-ion (LIBs) and Na-ion batteries (SIBs). We explore the microstructure and electrochemical performance of ASIC materials synthesized at various pyrolysis temperatures ranging from 700 to 1400 °C. ASIC-9, pyrolyzed at 900 °C, exhibits multilayer stacked sheets with the highest specific surface area, and the least lateral size and stacking height. ASIC-14, pyrolyzed at 1400 °C, demonstrates the most ordered carbon structure with the least defect concentration and the highest stacking height and an increased lateral size. ASIC-9 achieves the highest capacities (676 mAh/g at 0.134C) and rate performance (94 mAh/g at 13.4C) for hosting Li+ ions, while ASIC-14 exhibits superior electrochemical performance for hosting Na+ ions, maintaining a high specific capacity after 300 cycles with over 99.5% Coulombic efficiency. This comprehensive understanding of structure-property relationships paves the way for the practical utilization of biomass-derived carbon in various battery applications.

Background: The global prevalence of crimes against women has made it an enduring public health challenge that has persisted over time. The achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is intricately tied to the actions taken to prevent these crimes as their repercussions directly affect progress across various SDGs. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive examination of the prevalence of crimes against women across districts and states in India, analyzing changes from 2020 to 2022, and subsequently identifying associated factors. Methods: The study is an ecological analysis conducted across all districts of India using the data on crimes against women for the period 2020 and 2022 obtained from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) of India. A small area estimation method was used to obtain district-level relative risks of crime against women for both periods. Hotspot analysis was carried out to identify the current hotspots and coldspots. Further spatial regression was used to identify the factors associated with crimes against women in the year 2022. Results: The results indicated a rise in the reported crime against women cases between 2020 and 2022. The rate of crimes against women at the national level was found to be 57 in the year 2020, whereas, in 2022, it increased to 67. The highest crime rate in the year 2022 was found to be 145 in Delhi, while Nagaland had the lowest crime rate of 5. The relative risk of crime against women varied from 0.046 to 4.68 in 2020, while in 2022, it spanned from 0.02 to 6.10. Significant hotspots were found in parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, and Odisha. The results of the spatial error regression model showed that the sex ratio and the population density of the district have significant associations with the occurrence of crimes against women. Conclusion: The rise in the incidence of crime against women emphasizes the importance of tackling the spatial inequality in relative risk across Indian districts. By thoughtfully addressing this variation and conducting targeted studies in high-risk areas, we can enhance our understanding of the obstacles to implementing effective measures against violence targeting women.

Chylothorax is a severe complication following the Fontan procedure, causing significant morbidity and mortality due to nutritional depletion and fluid loss. We present a case involving a six-year-old girl with tricuspid atresia, atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), and severe pulmonary stenosis (PS), presenting with fever, non-productive cough, and increased work of breathing. Cyanosis was noted, improving with oxygen. Imaging revealed bilateral pleural effusion, with pleural fluid analysis confirming chylothorax. Despite normal laboratory reports, retrograde transvenous lymphangiography indicated thoracic duct leakage. The patient underwent successful thoracic duct embolization, resulting in the resolution of the effusion and stabilization of her condition. She was discharged in a stable state, with follow-up care.

Background/Aims: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) relates to how people perceive illness and treatment affects their physical health, emotional health, functional status, and social position. Along with clinical goals, HRQoL is significant. Therefore, the present study evaluates the effect of patient counseling and education on HRQoL of cirrhotic patients. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in a tertiary care center of coastal Karnataka, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Karnataka from October 2022 with a three-month follow-up. Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of liver cirrhosis visiting the outpatient department of age ≥18 were enrolled in the study and divided on the basis of compensated and decompensated cirrhosis. Patients were randomized into two groups i.e., case and control in compensated and decompensated group through the envelop method of randomization. The case group received patient education and counseling along with standard medical therapy. CLDQ was used to evaluate HRQoL scores on baseline and after the third month. Results: A total of 104 patients were enrolled with a mean age of 53.49 ± 11.25, with most being male (80.7%). Out of 104, 60 and 44 had compensated and decompensated cirrhosis. Case and control groups did not differ significantly on baseline. However, on follow-up, the compensated group showed significant improvement in abdominal symptoms, fatigue, and emotional functions. Meanwhile, the decompensated group showed significant improvement in activity, emotional function, and worry domain of CLDQ. Higher MELD scores were the significant factor associated with lower HRQoL scores. Conclusion: Patient education and counseling positively impacted the fatigue, emotional, and worry domain of the CLDQ. Hence, the present study recommends making an effort to promote patient counseling and education via leaflets or videos.

Embryological misalignment between the aorta and pulmonary trunk gives rise to the congenital anomaly of the heart known as transposition of the great arteries (TGA). TGA is a type of parallel circulation, where the heart pumps oxygenated blood from the left ventricle into the pulmonary trunk. The deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle is circulated into the body as it pumps blood into the aorta. This type of parallel circulation is not compatible with life unless there is communication between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. The presence of a ventricular septal defect (VSD) or patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in TGA patients serves as this communication. Cyanosis in the first month of life is the most common presenting feature. We had a five-and-a-half-year-old male child presenting with cyanosis and congestive cardiac failure (CCF), along with infective endocarditis with mitral valve regurgitation, which is an unusual complication of dextro-TGA (d-TGA) with pulmonary stenosis (PS) with VSD.

Cirrhosis patients have poor health-related quality of life (HRQoL). To enhance medical care and therapeutic approaches, it is crucial to identify factors that alter HRQoL in patients with cirrhosis. The present study aims to identify the potential factors affecting and promoting HRQoL in patients with liver cirrhosis. Four databases were extensively searched, including PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Google Scholar. All original articles with liver cirrhosis and factor-altering HRQoL were included. The present study showed that elderly age, female gender, low family income, low body mass index (BMI), presence of anxiety and depression, presence of cirrhosis complications including ascites, hepatic encephalopathy (HE), and abnormal endoscopic findings, high disease severity score, presence of sarcopenia, disturbed sleep pattern, muscle cramps, poor sexual health, and increased levels of bilirubin, prothrombin time, and albumin-bilirubin ratio were the significant factors associated with lower HRQoL scores. Meanwhile, physical exercise, liver transplant, stem cell therapy, mindfulness, and the use of probiotics, rifaximin, and lactulose were associated with increased HRQoL scores. The present study recommends more prospective or randomized control trials with interventions including health education, yoga, psychotherapy, and other potential factors promoting HRQoL in patients with liver cirrhosis. The present study also emphasizes that the treating physician should consider taking HRQoL into account when prescribing medical therapy.

Aquatic animals are prone to extinction due to metal pollution and global climate change. Even though the fish and their products are also unsafe for human consumption, their exports have been rejected due to inorganic and organic contaminants. Nickel (Ni) is a metal that induces toxicity and accumulates in the aquatic ecosystem, posing health threats to humans, animals, and fish. In light of the above, our present investigation aimed to determine the median lethal concentration (96 h-LC50) of nickel alone and concurrent with high temperature (34 °C) (Ni + T) using static non-renewable bioassay toxicity test in Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. The groups treated under exposure to Ni reared under control condition (25-28.9 °C) and Ni + T exposure group reread under 34 °C. In this study, chose the definitive dose of Ni and Ni + T as 17, 18, 19, and 20 mg L-1 after the range finding test. The median lethal concentration of Ni and Ni + T was determined as 19.38 and 18.75 mg L-1, respectively at 96 h. Oxidative stress viz. catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-s-transferase (GST), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in the liver, gill, and kidney were noticeably elevated with Ni and Ni + T during 96 h. Whereas, the CAT, GPx, and SOD gene expressions were significantly upregulated with Ni and Ni + T. Trilox equivalent anti-oxidant capacity (TEAC), cupric reducing anti-oxidant capacity (CUPRIC), ferric reducing ability of plasma (FRAP), ethoxy resorufin-O-deethylase (EROD), and acetylcholine esterase (AChE) were reduced due to exposure to Ni and Ni + T. Cellular metabolic stress and lipid peroxidation were highly affected due to Ni and Ni + T exposure. The immunological status, as indicated by total protein, albumin, globulin, A:G ratio, and nitro blue tetrazolium chloride (NBT), was severely affected by the toxicity of Ni and Ni + T. Moreover, the gene expression of interleukin (IL), tumor necrosis factor (TNFα), toll-like receptor (TLR), and total immunoglobulin (Ig) was remarkably downregulated following exposure to Ni and Ni + T. HSP 70, iNOS expression, ATPase, Na + /K + -ATPase, cortisol, and blood glucose was significantly elevated with Ni and Ni + T in P. hypophthalmus. The bioaccumulation of Ni in fish tissues and experimental water was determined. The kidney and liver tissues were highly accumulated with Ni, whereas DNA damage was reported in gill tissue. Interestingly, depuration study revealed that at the 28th day, the Ni bioaccumulation was below the maximum residue limit (MRL) level. Therefore, the present study revealed that Ni and Ni + T led to dysfunctional gene and metabolic regulation affecting physiology and genotoxicity. The bioaccumulation and depuration results also indicate higher residual occurrence of Ni in water and aquatic organisms for longer periods.

The role of the shape of the nanostructure on the antibacterial effects of ZnO nanodisks has been investigated by detailed mass spectrometry-based proteomics along with other spectroscopic and microscopic studies on E. coli. The primary interaction study of the E. coli cells in the presence of ZnO nanodisks showed rigorous cell surface damage disrupting the cell wall/membrane components detected by microscopic and ATR-FTIR studies. Protein profiling of whole-cell extracts in the presence and absence of ZnO nanodisks identified several proteins that are upregulated and downregulated under the stress of the nanodisks. This suggests that the bacterial response to the primary stress leads to a secondary impact of ZnO nanodisk toxicity via regulation of the expression of specific proteins. Results showed that the ZnO nanodisks lead to the over-expression of peptidyl-dipeptidase Dcp, Transketolase-1, etc., which are important to maintaining the osmotic balance in the cell. The abrupt change in osmotic pressure leads to mechanical injury to the membrane, and nutritional starvation conditions, which is revealed from the expression of the key proteins involved in membrane-protein assembly, maintaining membrane integrity, cell division processes, etc. Thus, indicating a deleterious effect of ZnO nanodisk on the protective layer of E. coli. ZnO nanodisks seem to primarily affect the protective membrane layer, inducing cell death via the development of osmotic shock conditions, as one of the possible reasons for cell death. These results unravel a unique behavior of the disk-shaped ZnO nanostructure in executing lethality in E. coli, which has not been reported for other known shapes or morphologies of ZnO nanoforms.

Developing high-performance, safer, and affordable flexible batteries is of urgent need to power the fast-growing flexible electronics market. In this respect, zinc-ion chemistry employing aqueous-based electrolytes represents a promising combination considering the safety, cost efficiency, and both high energy and high-power output. Herein, we represent a high-performance flexible in-plane aqueous zinc-ion miniaturized battery constructed with all electrodeposited electrodes, i.e., MnO2 cathode and zinc anode with polyimide-derived interdigital patterned laser-scribed carbon (LSC) as the current collector as well as the template for electrodeposition. The LSC possesses a cross-linked network of graphitic carbon sheet, which offers large surface area over low footprint and ensures active materials loading with a robust conductive network. The LSC with high zincophilic characteristic also offers dendrite-free zinc deposition with very low Zn2+ plating stripping overpotential. Benefitting from the Zn//MnO2-rich redox chemistry, the ability of the 3D LSC network to uniformly distribute reaction sites, and the architectural merits of in-plane interdigitated electrode configuration, we report very high capacity values of ∼549 mAh/g (or ∼523 µAh/cm2) and 148 mAh/g (or 140 µAh/cm2) at 0.1 A/g (0.095 mA/cm2) and 2 A/g (1.9 mA/cm2) currents, respectively. The device was also able to maintain a high capacity of 196 mAh/g (areal capacity of 76.19 µAh/cm2) at 1 A/g (0.95 mA/cm2) current after 1350 cycles. The flexibility of the device was demonstrated in polyacryl amide (PAM) gel polymer soaked with a 2 M ZnSO4 and 0.2 M MnSO4 electrolyte, which exhibited a comparable specific capacity of ∼102-110 mAh/g in flat condition and different bending (100° or 160° bending) conditions. The device does not use any conventional current collector, separator, and conductive or polymer additives. The overall process is highly scalable and can be completed in less than a couple of hours.

Growth factor-induced migration of lens epithelial cell (LEC) toward the posterior of lens capsule bag and their epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is the key process involved in the pathogenesis of posterior capsular opacification (PCO). Silibinin, a natural flavonolignan, confers therapeutic effects to different cells by regulation of signalling pathways; however, its role in the prevention of migration and EMT of LECs is yet to be analysed. In this study, the inhibitory capabilities of silibinin on migration and EMT were analysed in response to TGFß2 stimulation in HLE B-3 cells. The anti-migratory effect of silibinin was analysed using wound healing assay. Transcriptional and translational expression of genes related to LEC migration, EMT, and transcription factors related to EMT were studied by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting. Immunofluorescence analysis was utilized to study the localization of fibronectin. Silibinin reduced the viability of LECs in a concentration-dependent manner and inhibited the wound healing capacity of LECs induced by TGFß2. Silibinin also suppressed alteration in the EMT-related markers such as cytoskeletal proteins, cell adhesion markers, extracellular matrix molecules, and transcription factors. Analysis of downstream signalling revealed that treatment with silibinin decreased phosphorylated Akt (Ser473, Thr308), PDK1 (Ser241), PTEN (Ser380), c-Raf (Ser259), and GSK3ß (Ser9) in TGFß-stimulated cells. The effect of silibinin treatment on phosphorylated Akt resembled that of the PI3K inhibitor LY294002. Our results suggest that silibinin can suppress LEC migration and EMT, which involves the inactivation of the PI3K-Akt signalling pathway. Silibinin might be a good candidate for PCO prevention; however, functional evaluation of silibinin using in vivo models is a pre-requisite.

Melanotic schwannoma (MS) is a rare peripheral nerve sheath tumor commonly found in the thoracic paraspinal region. It is present in an intracranial location rarely, with 18 out of 105 MS cases described in the literature. Trigeminal nerve was involved in only six of these cases. Fifty percent of psammomatous melanotic schwannoma (PMS) patients have Carney complex. Carney complex is an autosomal dominant disorder featuring peripheral nerve tumors (schwannomas), myxomas (heart, skin, and breast), skin pigmentation (lentigines and blue nevi), and endocrine tumors (adrenal, testicular, and pituitary). We present a case of left trigeminal nerve PMS as a part of Carney complex. Patient had diffuse lentiginosis. Magnetic Resonance Imaging revealed enhancing lesion along left trigeminal nerve with widened Meckel's cave and foramen ovale. Final diagnosis of PMS was derived on clinical, radiological, and histopathological findings with immunohistochemistry correlation. Key Message Trigeminal nerve can be rarely involved in melanotic schwannoma (MS). Knowledge of typical radiological features of MS is crucial for its diagnosis. Its association with Carney complex should be sought.

Pleuropulmonary Synovial Sarcoma is a rare lung cancer with a prevalence of <1% among all lung cancers. Little is known about the clinical presentation, disease process, and appropriate treatment. Here we present a 9-year-old male who was taken to the operating room for pleurodesis and blebectomy due to a recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax. Final pathology showed a bleb with an associated mass positive for Pleuropulmonary synovial sarcoma.

BACKGROUND: AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) plays a precise role as a master regulator of cellular energy homeostasis. AMPK is activated in response to the signalling cues that exhaust cellular ATP levels such as hypoxia, ischaemia, glucose depletion and heat shock. As a central regulator of both lipid and glucose metabolism, AMPK is considered to be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of various diseases, including eye disorders. OBJECTIVE: To review all the shreds of evidence concerning the role of the AMPK signalling pathway in the pathogenesis of ocular diseases. METHOD: Scientific data search and review of available information evaluating the influence of AMPK signalling on ocular diseases. RESULTS: Review highlights the significance of AMPK signalling in the aetiopathogenesis of ocular diseases, including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinoblastoma, age-related macular degeneration, corneal diseases, etc. The review also provides the information on the AMPK-associated pathways with reference to ocular disease, which includes mitochondrial biogenesis, autophagy and regulation of inflammatory response. CONCLUSION: The study concludes the role of AMPK in ocular diseases. There is growing interest in the therapeutic utilization of the AMPK pathway for ocular disease treatment. Furthermore, inhibition of AMPK signalling might represent more pertinent strategy than AMPK activation for ocular disease treatment. Such information will guide the development of more effective AMPK modulators for ocular diseases.[Formula: see text].

BACKGROUND: Perforated gastrojejunal ulcers are a known complication following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery requiring emergent surgical repair. The robotic approach has not been evaluated for emergency general surgery. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study from 2015 to 2019 was performed identifying all patients who underwent repair of perforated gastrojejunal ulcers after RYGB at a single institution. Patient characteristics and outcomes were compared by robotic or laparoscopic approach. RESULTS: Of the 44 patients analyzed, there were 24 robotic and 20 laparoscopic repairs of perforated gastrojejunal ulcers. No patients were initially approached with open surgery. In-room-to-surgery-start time was significantly faster in the robotic group than the laparoscopic group (25 versus 31 min, p = 0.01). Complication rate, complication severity, operating time, hospital length of stay, postoperative vasopressor requirement, discharge to home, hospital length of stay and 30-day readmission were all improved in the robotic group, although these were not statistically significant. Both total inpatient and procedural costs were more in the robotic group than the laparoscopic group. CONCLUSION: Perforated hollow viscus is not a contraindication for the use of the surgical robot, which may improve outcomes.

The development of the first intermolecular Rh2(II)-catalyzed aziridination of olefins using anilines as nonactivated N atom precursors and an iodine(III) reagent as the stoichiometric oxidant is reported. This reaction requires the transfer of an N-aryl nitrene fragment from the iminoiodinane intermediate to a Rh2(II) carboxylate catalyst; in the absence of a catalyst only diaryldiazene formation was observed. This N-aryl aziridination is general and can be successfully realized by using as little as 1 equiv of the olefin. Di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted cyclic or acylic olefins can be employed as substrates, and a range of aniline and heteroarylamine N atom precursors are tolerated. The Rh2(II)-catalyzed N atom transfer to the olefin is stereospecific as well as chemo- and diastereoselective to produce the N-aryl aziridine as the only amination product. Because the chemistry of nonactivated N-aryl aziridines is underexplored, the reactivity of N-aryl aziridines was explored toward a range of nucleophiles to stereoselectively access privileged 1,2-stereodiads unavailable from epoxides, and removal of the N-2,4-dinitrophenyl group was demonstrated to show that functionalized primary amines can be constructed.

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to identify factors specific to the COVID-19 pandemic that affect resident physicians' well-being, identify potential sources of anxiety, and assess for depression and stress among residents. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was performed in April 2020 that evaluated resident perceptions about COVID-19 pandemic, its impact on their personal lifestyle, and coping mechanisms adopted. The respondents also completed the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and Cohen Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10). RESULTS: Of 37 residents, 29 completed the survey for a response rate of 78%. We found that 50% of residents harbored increased anxiety due to the pandemic and reported fears of spreading disease. Factors that negatively impacted their well-being included social isolation from colleagues (78%), inability to engage in outdoor activities (82%), and social gatherings (86%). Residents expressed concern about the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on their didactic education and clinical rotations. The mean PSS-10 total score was 17 (SD = 4.96, range = 0-33) and the mean BDI-II total score was 6.79 (SD = 6.00). Our residents adopted a number of coping mechanisms in response to COVID-19. CONCLUSIONS: We identified factors specific to the COVID-19 pandemic that adversely affected resident physician well-being. Trainees were concerned about the risk of developing COVID-19 and spreading this to their family. Residents also harbored anxiety regarding the effect of COVID-19 on their education. Lifestyle changes including social isolation also resulted in a negative effect on resident well-being. Developing strategies and resources directed to addressing these concerns may help support well-being and alleviate stress and anxiety.

RESUMEN

Despite the widespread use of the "Informatics for Integrating Biology and the Bedside" (i2b2) platform, there are substantial challenges for loading electronic health records (EHR) into i2b2 and for querying i2b2. We have previously presented a simplified framework for semantic abstraction of EHR records into i2b2. Building on our previous work, we have created a proof-of-concept implementation of cloud services on an i2b2 data store for cohort identification. Specifically, we have implemented a graphical user interface (GUI) that declares the key components for data import, transformation, and query of EHR data. The GUI integrates with Azure cloud services to create data pipelines for importing EHR data into i2b2, creation of derived facts, and querying for generating Sankey-like flow diagrams that characterize the patient cohorts. We have evaluated the implementation using the real-world MIMIC-III dataset. We discuss the key features of this implementation and direction for future work, which will advance the efforts of the research community for patient cohort identification.

Our understanding of the challenges and the broader role of spouses of expatriates is extremely limited. This study examined the impact of spousal work restrictions on expatriates' work life and overall life satisfaction using qualitative and quantitative analyses based on data from a sample of 409 Indian Information Technology professionals working in USA. Furthermore, hypothesised conditional process model (tested with PROCESS analysis tool) was supported, showing that spousal work restrictions created complications in personal lives of expatriates, which interfered with work lives resulting in lower overall life satisfaction. We identified six core classes of challenges faced by spouses of expatriates: wasted skills, financial issues, boredom, social isolation, quality time and domestic tension. Our mixed method approach also helps to provide a more comprehensive picture of these complications. This study may help organisational leaders and policy makers to more fully consider the implications of visa-related policy changes on expatriate families.

RESUMEN

Heterologous prime-boost vaccination with viral vectors simian adenovirus 63 (ChAd63) and Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) induces potent T cell and antibody responses in humans. The 8-week regimen demonstrates significant efficacy against malaria when expressing the pre-erythrocytic malaria antigen Thrombospondin-Related Adhesion Protein fused to a multiple epitope string (ME-TRAP). We tested these vaccines in 7 new 4- and 8- week interval schedules to evaluate safety and immunogenicity of multiple ChAd63 ME-TRAP priming vaccinations (denoted A), multiple MVA ME-TRAP boosts (denoted M) and alternating vectors. All regimens exhibited acceptable reactogenicity and CD8+ T cell immunogenicity was enhanced with a 4-week interval (AM) and with incorporation of additional ChAd63 ME-TRAP vaccination at 4- or 8-weeks (AAM or A_A_M). Induction of TRAP antibodies was comparable between schedules. T cell immunity against the ChAd63 hexon did not affect T cell responses to the vaccine insert, however pre-vaccination ChAd63-specific T cells correlated with reduced TRAP antibodies. Vaccine-induced antibodies against MVA did not affect TRAP antibody induction, and correlated positively with ME-TRAP-specific T cells. This study identifies potentially more effective immunisation regimens to assess in Phase IIa trials and demonstrates a degree of flexibility with the timing of vectored vaccine administration, aiding incorporation into existing vaccination programmes.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer and is globally rising. Historically, the diagnosis of skin cancers has depended on various conventional techniques which are of an invasive manner. A variety of commercial diagnostic tools and auxiliary techniques are available to detect skin cancer. This article explains in detail the principles and approaches involved for non-invasive skin cancer diagnostic methods such as photography, dermoscopy, sonography, confocal microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, terahertz spectroscopy, optical coherence tomography, the multispectral imaging technique, thermography, electrical bio-impedance, tape stripping and computer-aided analysis. The characteristics of an ideal screening test are outlined, and the authors pose several points for clinicians and scientists to consider in the evaluation of current and future studies of skin cancer detection and diagnosis. This comprehensive review critically analyses the literature associated with the field and summarises the recent updates along with their merits and demerits.
