RESUMEN

The concerns about the impact of the nervous necrosis virus (NNV) infections in wild fish have been raised. This paper presents the results of quarterly surveys of NNV in wild and cage-reared marine fish from South China Sea. Samples of 892 wild fish belonging to 69 species and 381 cage-reared fish belonging to 11 species were collected and were detected by seminested PCR and nested PCR. In the case of seminested PCR, the positive signal was detected in 3.0% and 3.1% samples of wild and cage-reared fish, respectively. However, by nested RT-PCR, the positive signal was observed in 42.3% and 63.0% samples of wild and cage-reared fish, respectively. If the fish species were considered, the positive signal was detected in 21.7% and 72.7% species of wild and cage-reared fish by seminested PCR assay, respectively. However, by nested RT-PCR, the positive signal was observed in 65.2% and 100% species of wild and cage-reared fish, respectively. The nucleotide sequences of the nested PCR products were determined. Phylogenetic tree showed that all the obtained viral isolates belonged to the red-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (RGNNV) genotype. Thirty-five species of the marine fish were the new hosts of NNV.

RESUMEN

A frequency-domain compensation method is presented that is based on the ultrasound holography B-scan (UHB) imaging principle. In an acoustic imaging system, the wavefront-angle-dependent distortions caused by any kind of known inhomogeneous reason can be compensated by this method. It is applied here in the frequency domain using the so-called rear-ranging operation for the longitudinal distortion and the multiplication of phase factors for the lateral distortion. The method is especially suitable for compensating different velocity layers in acoustic imaging systems. The results of both computer simulations and water-tank experiments are promising.

RESUMEN

A circular-array, pulse-echo, ultrasound holography imaging method is presented. The configuration of the measurement system is much simpler than that of traditional computed-tomography (CT) and compound beta-scan imaging. Wide-beam insonification is used. The geometrical differences of the circular array compared with a linear array system are corrected in the frequency domain of the hologram. The computation time of the reconstruction process for a circular image is practically the same as that of a linear array imaging process using the backward propagation (BP) principle. A fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm is directly used in the reconstruction process. Computer simulation shows that the resolution of this imaging method can surpass that of a linear-array system. In the preliminary experiments, 2-mm resolution was achieved in both the lateral and radial directions with an ultrasound frequency of 2 MHz.
