RESUMEN

Layered ternary oxide LiNixMnyCo1-x-yO2 is a promising cathode candidate for high-energy lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, the capacity of LIBs is significantly restricted by several factors, including the repeated dissolution-regeneration of the interfacial film at high temperatures, the dissolution of transition metals, and the increase of impedance. Herein, a new precycling strategy in suitable voltage scope at room temperature is proposed to construct a uniform, thermally stable, and insoluble cathode-electrolyte interface (CEI), which helps to maintain stable cycling performances at high temperatures. Specifically, after 5 precycles in the range of 3.85-4.3 V at room temperature, a CEI layer containing numerous inorganic components and oligomers is formed on the surface of LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2. Subsequently, the harmful side reactions are effectively suppressed, endowing the cell with an excellent capacity retention of 84.67% after 50 cycles at 0.5C and 55 °C, much higher than that of 65.61% under the conventional film-forming process conditions. This work emphasizes the crucial role of the precycling strategy in regulating the characteristics of CEI layer on the surface of cathode electrode, opening up a new avenue for the high-temperature application of positive electrodes of LIBs.

It is reported that panaxadiol has neuroprotective effects. Previous studies have found that compound with carbamate structure introduced at the 3-OH position of 20 (R) -panaxadiol showed the most effective neuroprotective activity with an EC50 of 13.17 µM. Therefore, we designed and synthesized a series of ginseng diol carbamate derivatives with ginseng diol as the lead compound, and tested their anti-AD activity. It was found that the protective effect of compound Q4 on adrenal pheochromocytoma was 80.6 ±â€¯10.85 % (15 µM), and the EC50 was 4.32 µM. According to the ELISA results, Q4 reduced the expression of Aß25-35 by decreasing ß-secretase production. Molecular docking studies revealed that the binding affinity of Q4 to ß-secretase was -49.67 kcal/mol, indicating a strong binding affinity of Q4 to ß-secretase. Western blotting showed that compound Q4 decreased IL-1ß levels, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effect. Furthermore, compound Q4 exhibits anti-AD activities by reducing abnormal phosphorylation of tau protein and activation of the mitogen activated protein kinase pathway. The learning and memory deficits in mice treated with Q4in vivo were significantly alleviated. Therefore, Q4 may be a promising multifunctional drug for the treatment of AD, providing a new way for anti-AD drugs.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the association between positron emission tomography (PET)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) biomarkers and survival outcomes in patients with endometrial cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between April 2014 and April 2016, 88 patients with newly diagnosed endometrial cancer participated this prospective study and underwent [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose PET/MRI. Sixty-nine patients with measurable tumors on PET/MRI were included in the image analysis. Imaging biomarkers included the minimum and mean apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCmin and ADCmean), maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) of the primary tumors. The log-rank test and Cox proportional hazards model were used to assess the relationship between imaging biomarkers and survival. RESULTS: After a median follow-up of 80 months, 15 (22%) patients had tumor progression and six (9%) patients died. The results of ADCmin, ADCmean, and SUVmax did not show a significant association with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Significantly shorter PFS was noted in patients with primary tumors with higher MTV (P < 0.001) and TLG (P < 0.001). Significantly shorter OS was also noted in patients with primary tumors with higher MTV (P = 0.048) and TLG (P = 0.034). In the multivariate analysis, MTV was an independent predictor of PFS (hazard ratio = 10.84, P = 0.033). CONCLUSION: PET/MRI biomarkers, particularly MTV and TLG, are associated with PFS and OS in patients with endometrial cancer. MTV was an independent predictor of PFS.

Amid the pandemic, it is crucial to comprehend both people's preferred food choices and the factors influencing food consumption. This understanding not only guarantees a stable food supply but also plays a pivotal role in economic recovery during times of recession. In 2020, South Korean instant noodles experienced an unprecedented surge in exports, catapulting the nation to the forefront of the global instant noodle market. The surge in the popularity of instant noodles during the pandemic can be partly attributed to their unique characteristics. However, the South Korean film Parasite, which garnered global acclaim around the same time, prominently featured instant noodle products. This exposure led to an extraordinary increase in internet searches for Korean-brand instant noodles. Therefore, this study utilized an interrupted time series model to investigate whether the surge in South Korean instant noodle exports was primarily a result of the 2019 coronavirus pandemic or the influence of the film. Our estimations indicate that the film's exposure effect predominantly explains the export boom of South Korean instant noodles.

Acute lung injury (ALI) refers to a series of lung lesions resulting from multiple lung injuries, even leading to morbidity and death, abundant previous reports have showed that anti-inflammatory as a key to treatment of ALI. Fusidic acid (FA) as an antibiotic has significant anti-bacterial activity and anti-inflammatory effects. In this study, we designed and synthesized 34 FA derivatives to identify new anti-inflammatory drugs. The anti-inflammatory activities of the derivatives were screened using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 cells to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of the compounds, we measured nitric oxide (NO) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Most of compounds showed inhibitory effects on inflammatory NO and IL-6 in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Based on the screening results, compound a1 showed the strongest anti-inflammatory activity. Compared with FA, the inhibition rate NO and IL-6 of compound a1 increased 3.08 and 2.09 times at 10 µM, respectively. We further measured a1 inhibited inflammatory factor NO (IC50 = 3.26 ± 0.42 µM), IL-6 (IC50 = 1.85 ± 0.21 µM) and TNF-α (IC50 = 3.88 ± 0.55 µM). We also demonstrated that a1 markedly inhibits the expression of certain immune-related cytotoxic factors, including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric-oxide synthase (iNOS). In vivo results indicate that a1 can reduce lung inflammation and NO, IL-6, TNF-α, COX-2 and iNOS in LPS-induced ALI mice. On the one hand, we demonstrated a1 inhibits the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway by down-regulating the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK, c-Jun N-terminal kinase (c-JNK) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). Moreover, a1 also suppressing the phosphorylation of inhibitory NF-κB inhibitor α (IκBα) inhibits the activation of the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway. On the other hand, we demonstrated a1 also role in anti-inflammatory by inhibits nucleotide-binding domain (NOD)-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and further inhibits Caspase-1 and inflammatory factor interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß). In conclusion, our study demonstrates that a1 has an anti-inflammatory effect and alleviates ALI by regulating inflammatory mediators and suppressing the MAPK, NF-κB and NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathways.

The formation of a compact and stable cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) film is a promising way to improve the high voltage resistance of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, challenges arise due to the corrosion of hydrogen fluoride (HF) and the dissolution of transition metal ions (TMs) in harsh conditions. To address this issue, researchers have constructed an anion-derived CEI film enriched with LiF and LiPO2F2 soluble product on the surface of LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (LNMO) cathode in highly concentrated electrolytes (HCEs). The strong binding of LiF and LiPO2F2 generated an inert LiPO2F2 soluble product interface, which inhibited HF corrosion and maintained the spinel structure of LNMO, contributing to a capacity retention of 92% after 200 cycles at 55°C in the resulting cell with a soluble LiPO2F2-containing CEI film. This new approach sheds light on improving the electrode/electrolyte interface for high-energy LIBs.

The electrode/electrolyte interface (EEI) is a research hotspot in lithium-ion batteries, while the electrolyte solvation complex can be regarded as a factor that cannot be ignored in determining the performance of the EEI. From the perspective of the electrolyte solvation complex, this review summarizes the effects of solvation complexes on the composition of an EEI film and the Li+ desolvation process, and further clarifies the internal mechanism of the electrolyte composition controlling solvation chemistry. Finally, combined with doubtful points that are not comprehensively considered in the regulation of solvated complexes, this review puts forward some cutting-edge views, which are of great significance for future guidance in improving the performance of lithium-ion batteries.

Objective: To compare the effects of the China Children's Asthma Action Plan (CCAAP)-based remote joint management model with traditional management model on the control of childhood asthma. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze the general data and asthma control assessment data of 219 children with asthma who attended the respiratory department of Guangzhou Women's and Children's Medical Center from April 2021 to October 2021 and were followed up for 1 year or more. According to the follow-up management model, the CCAAP-based remote joint management model was used in the observation group and the traditional management model was used in the control group, and the propensity score matching method was applied to match the data of children in the two management models for comparison. Paired-samples t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, McNemar χ2-test or χ2-test or nonparametric tests were used to compare the general data and asthma control assessment data between the two matched groups of children. Results: Among 219 children with asthma, 145 were male and 74 were female, aged at consultation (7.2±2.4) years. There were 147 cases in the observation group and 72 cases in the control group, and 27 cases in each of the observation and control groups were successfully matched. The number of asthma exacerbation aura, acute exacerbations, and emergency room visits or hospitalizations for asthma exacerbations were lower in the observation group than in the control group after pairing (1 (0, 2) vs. 3 (1, 5) times, 0 (0,0) vs. 0 (0, 1) times, 0 (0,0) vs. 1 (0, 1) times, Z=-3.42, -2.58, -3.17, all P<0.05). The use of peak flowmeters was higher in children aged 5 years and older in the observation group than in the control group after pairing (100% (22/22) vs. 13% (3/23), χ2=54.00,P<0.001). The ratio of actual to predicted 1st second expiratory volume of force after follow-up in the observation group after pairing was higher than that before follow-up in the observation group and after follow-up in the control group ((95±11)% vs. (85±10)%, (95±11)% vs. (88±11)%, t=-3.40, 2.25, all P<0.05). The rate of complete asthma control after follow-up was higher in both the observation and control groups after pairing than before follow-up for 12 months in both groups (93% (25/27) vs. 41% (11/27), 52% (14/27) vs. 41% (11/27), H=56.19, 45.37, both P<0.001), and the rate of complete control of asthma in children in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at 3 and 12 months of follow-up management (56% (15/27) vs. 25% (5/20), 93% (25/27) vs. 52% (14/27), χ2=47.00, 54.00, both P<0.001). The number of offline follow-up visits, inhaled hormone medication adherence scores, and caregiver's asthma perception questionnaire scores were higher in the observation group than in the control group after pairing (6 (4, 8) vs. 4 (2,5), (4.8±0.3) vs. (4.0±0.6) score, (19.3±2.6) vs. (15.2±2.7) score, Z=6.58, t=6.57, 5.61, all P<0.05), and the children in the observation group had lower school absences, caregiver absences, asthma attack visit costs, and caregiver PTSD scores than the control group (0 (0,0) vs.3 (0, 15) d, 0 (0,0) vs. 3 (0, 10) d, 1 100 (0, 3 700) vs. 5 000 (1 000, 10 000) yuan, 1.3 (1.1, 1.9) vs. 2.0 (1.2, 2.7) score, Z=-2.89, -2.30, 2.74, 2.73, all P<0.05). Conclusion: The CCAAP-based joint management model of asthma control is superior to the traditional management model in the following aspects: it can effectively improve asthma control, self-monitoring, and lung function in children; it can improve treatment adherence and caregivers' asthma awareness; and it can reduce the duration of absenteeism from school, the cost of asthma exacerbation visits, and caregiver's negative psychology.

An extensive study was performed to discover a series of novel 20(R)-panaxadiol derivatives with various substituents at the 3-OH position as nontoxic, brain-permeable, multi-target leads for treating Alzheimer's disease. In vitro analysis revealed that a compound bearing benzyl-substituted carbamate, which we denoted compound 14a, exhibited the most potent neuroprotective activity, with an EC50 of 13.17 µM. The neuroprotective effect of compound 14a was slightly more potent than that of donepezil and much more potent than that of 20(R)-panaxadiol. Compound 14a at 7.5-120 µM exhibited low toxicity in various cell lines. In addition, compound 14a exhibited a wide range of biological activities, including inhibiting apoptosis; inducing tau hyperphosphorylation; affecting beta-amyloid (Aß), ß-secretase, reactive oxygen species, tumor necrosis factor-α, cyclooxygenase-2, and interleukin-1ß production; and promoting Aß25-35 disaggregation. The effective permeability of compound 14a across the blood-brain barrier was 26.13 × 10-6 cm/s, indicating that it can provide adequate exposure in the central nervous system. Further, compound 14a improved learning, memory, and novel object recognition in mice, and in vivo toxicity experiments confirmed a good therapeutic safety range. Thus, compound 14a is a promising multifunctional lead for treating Alzheimer's disease and offers new avenues for natural product-derived anti-Alzheimer's disease drugs.

T lymphocyte reduction and immunosenescence frequently occur in severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, which may cause immunothrombosis and numerous sequelae. This study integrated analyzed multi-omics data from healthy donors, pneumonia, COVID-19 patients (mild & moderate, severe, and critical), and convalescences, including clinical, laboratory test, PBMC bulk RNA-seq, PBMC scRNA-seq and TCR-seq, BAL scRNA-seq, and lung proteome. We revealed that there are certain associations among T lymphocyte reduction, CD8+ T cell senescence, Th17 immune activation, and immunothrombosis. A specific phenotype (S. P.) CD8+ T cells were identified in severe and critical COVID-19 patients in both PBMC and BAL scRNA-seq, which showed highly TCR homology with terminal effector CD8+ T cells and senescent CD8+ T cells. Pseudotime analysis showed that the S. P. CD8+ T cells were located in the transition trajectory from mild to severe disease. Which may be activated by terminal effector CD8+ T cells or senescent CD8+ T cells, thereby promoting Th17 cell differentiation. This phenomenon was absent in healthy donors, mild and moderate COVID-19 patients, or convalescences. Our findings are an important reference for avoiding the conversion of patients with mild to severe diseases and provide insight into the future prevention and control of COVID-19 and its variants.

The optimizing method of electrolyte formulation is always vital for the development of high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Traditional optimization methods are mainly aimed at the optimization of the electrolyte composition type, and less attention is paid to the optimization of the composition proportion in a certain electrolyte formulation. In this paper, in order to balance the relationship between aluminum (Al) foil corrosion inhibition and battery electrochemical performance, the electrolyte system LiFSI0.6-LiBOB0.4-EC/DEC/EMC (1 : 1 : 1, by volume) was optimized by combining the simplex method, normalization and electrochemical testing. A lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cathode with the optimized electrolyte of LiFSI0.53-LiBOB0.35-EC/DEC/EMC (1.3 : 1.5 : 1.5) delivers a high capacity (143.1 mA h g-1 at 0.5C) and remarkable cycle life (94.9% retention after 100 cycles) at 45 °C. The outstanding performance is attributed to the composition of the cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) containing the solid and dense LiF, AlF3, B2O3 and Li2CO3. This provides a new method and idea for future electrolyte formulation optimization.

A high performance liquid chromatography( HPLC) method was established for the fast,and precise determination of ten nucleosides in Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus and its counterfeits. Then multivariate statistical analyses,such as clustering analysis,principal component analysis( PCA),and Fisher' s linear discriminant analysis( LDA),were conducted to establish a discriminant function model for an integrated analysis. The results indicated that data acquisition time of a single sample was shortened within 16 min by the HPLC method. In the range of 5-1 000 mg·kg~(-1),the mass concentrations of all nucleosides exhibited good linear relationships with the corresponding peak areas( R2> 0. 999). The spiked recoveries were in the range of 93. 83%-108. 9% with RSDs of0. 12%-1. 3%( n = 5). The limit of quantitation( LOQ) was 0. 98-4. 13 mg·kg~(-1). As revealed by the clustering analysis,Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus and the counterfeits could be discriminated into two clusters based on the content of nucleosides. Fisher's LDA could achieve this discrimination,while PCA dimension reduction failed. The accuracy of the discriminant function model established on the screened characteristic indicators reached 97. 5%. The present study proposed a new identification method of Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus with one-dimensional indicators,which is simple,accurate,and reliable. It can provide a scientific basis for further optimizing the identification techniques for Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus and inspiration for quality control strategy development of Chinese medicinal materials.

In light of the adequate sources for Hylotelephium erythrostictum, its active components have aroused research interest. 2-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-4,6-dihydroxy-2-(methoxy)- 3-benzofuranone(1), apigenin(2), diosmetin(3), kaempferol(4), kaempferide(5), rhamnocitrin(6), quercetin(7), and gallic acid(8) were isolated from H. erythrostictum. Rarely occurring naturally, 1 is 2-methoxybenzofuranone type compound against α-glucosidase and exhibits a potential inhibitory effect on α-glucosidase(IC50 = 1.8 µM), with a Ki value of 709 nM. In silico molecular docking was performed for the investigation of the inhibition mechanism. H. erythrostictum is a potential source of antidiabetic agent. This information is useful in finding more potent antidiabetic candidates from medicinal plants for the clinical development of therapeutics.

Five types of medical waste disposal technologies that are currently applied in our country were analyzed and compared such as the rotary kiln incineration method, pyrolysis method, high-temperature steam sterilization method, chemical disinfection method, and microwave disinfection method. The five methods were quantitatively evaluated and screened using an analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Based on this process, the ranking weights of optimal and suboptimal alternatives were studied using sensitivity analysis. The results show that the rotary kiln incineration and pyrolysis methods are presently the most widely used technologies for medical waste disposal in our country. The AHP shows that the comprehensive benefits of high-temperature steam sterilization in medical waste disposal are the best compared with the other four methods in terms of social, environmental, technological, and economic factors, followed by the chemical disinfection method. The sensitivity analysis shows that the change points of the guideline layer factors that lead to the change of the alternatives are the social factors (0.2100), environmental factors (0.3500), technical factors (0.1200), and economic factors (0.2400). Subcriteria factors have less influence on the weight ranking of the alternatives.

The Mycoplasma hominis infection is a rare postoperative complication after joint replacement. Based on our knowledge, there were only two cases reported by Korea all over the world currently. A case of postoperative Mycoplasma hominis infection after total knee replacement in our hospital was reported in this article. RESUMEN

Conjugated polymer nanomaterials (CPNs), as optically and electronically active materials, hold promise for biomedical imaging and drug delivery applications. This review highlights the recent advances in the utilization of CPNs in theranostics. Specifically, CPN-based in vivo imaging techniques, including near-infrared (NIR) imaging, two-photon (TP) imaging, photoacoustic (PA) imaging, and multimodal (MM) imaging, are introduced. Then, CPN-based photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT) are surveyed. A variety of stimuli-responsive CPN systems for drug delivery are also summarized, and the promising trends and translational challenges are discussed.

The Mycoplasma hominis infection is a rare postoperative complication after joint replacement. Based on our knowledge, there were only two cases reported by Korea all over the world currently. A case of postoperative Mycoplasma hominis infection after total knee replacement in our hospital was reported in this article. RESUMEN

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>Morphological changes of the vasculature system in patients with myopia have been observed by Doppler ultrasound and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA); however, these studies have limitations. Doppler ultrasound provides low-resolution images which are mainly obtained from visualized large vessels, and FFA is an invasive examination. Optic coherence tomography (OCT) angiography is a noninvasive, high-resolution measurement for vascular density. The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of vascular density in myopic eyes using OCT angiography.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>This cross-sectional study includes a total of 91 eyes from 47 participants including control, moderate, and high myopia that were evaluated by OCT angiography. Patients with myopia were recruited from the Refractive Department, Shenzhen Aier Eye Hospital, from August 5, 2015 to April 1, 2016. Emmetropic eyes were from healthy volunteers. The vascular density at macula and optic disc regions, ganglion cell complex (GCC) thickness, and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness were measured. Their relationships with axial length (AL) and refractive error were analyzed. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation, and generalized estimating equation were used for statistical analysis.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Both superficial and deep macular vascular density were highest in control (25.64% ± 3.76% and 37.12% ± 3.66%, respectively), then in moderate myopia (21.15% ± 5.33% and 35.35% ± 5.50%, respectively), and lowest in high myopia group (19.64% ± 3.87% and 32.81% ± 6.29%, respectively) (F = 13.74 and 4.57, respectively; both P < 0.001). Both superficial (β = -0.850 and 0.460, respectively) and deep (β = -0.766 and 0.396, respectively) macular vascular density were associated with AL and spherical equivalent (all P < 0.001). Superficial macular vascular density was associated with GCC thickness (β = 0.244, P = 0.040), independent of spherical equivalent. The vascular density in optic disc region had no difference among the three groups, and it was not associated with AL, spherical equivalent, or RNFL thickness.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Our results suggested that with the increase of myopia, the vascular density decreased in macular region, but not in optic disc region.</p>

In this paper, based on the knowledge of memristor and recurrent neural networks (RNNs), the model of the memristor-based RNNs with discrete and distributed delays is established. By constructing proper Lyapunov functionals and using inequality technique, several sufficient conditions are given to ensure the passivity of the memristor-based RNNs with discrete and distributed delays in the sense of Filippov solutions. The passivity conditions here are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities, which can be easily solved by using Matlab Tools. In addition, the results of this paper complement and extend the earlier publications. Finally, numerical simulations are employed to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

BACKGROUND: Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) have received considerable attention in insects for their roles in insecticide resistance. Laodelphax striatellus (Fallén) is a serious rice pest. L. striatellus outbreaks occur frequently throughout eastern Asia. A key problem in controlling this pest is its rapid adaptation to numerous insecticides. In this research, nine cDNAs encoding GSTs in L. striatellus were cloned and characterised. RESULTS: The cloned GSTs of L. striatellus belonged to six cytosolic classes and a microsomal subgroup. Exposure to sublethal concentrations of each of the six insecticides, DDT, chlorpyrifos, fipronil, imidacloprid, buprofezin and beta-cypermethrin, quickly induced (6 h) up-expression of LsGSTe1. The expression of LsGSTs2 was increased by chlorpyrifos, fipronil and beta-cypermethrin. Furthermore, exposure of L. striatellus to fipronil, imidacloprid, buprofezin and beta-cypermethrin increased the expression of the LsGSTm gene after 24 or 48 h. CONCLUSION: This work is the first identification of GST genes from different GST groups in Auchenorrhyncha species and their induction characteristics with insecticide types and time. The elevated expression of GST genes induced by insecticides might be related to the enhanced tolerance of this insect to insecticides and xenobiotics.
