RESUMEN
This review article on the current management for calcaneal fractures discusses the advantages and disadvantages of different treatment options including the problems encountered. Controversies are described and the evidence reviewed. The management of some types of displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures remains contentious; is there a preferred stabilisation method for each type of calcaneal fracture? How constant is the "constant fragment" in an intra-articular calcaneal fracture and what is the evidence for primary arthrodesis and what is its place in these fractures?
RESUMEN
Hallux rigidus is a degenerative condition leading to arthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint. Cheilectomy is a surgical procedure that is used in the treatment of hallux rigidus. It removes dorsal and dorsomedial or dorsolateral osteophytes, primarily relieving the impingement at the first metatarsophalangeal joint, which causes patients pain. The minimally invasive technique has proven to be an excellent technique to remove bony spurs to relieve symptoms with minimal surgical complications and fast recovery time.

This report presents the case of a 44-year-old man who presented with elective bilateral carpal tunnel decompression. At the operation, he was found to have bilateral palmaris profundus tendons within the carpal tunnel, impinging on the median nerve. In releasing both carpal tunnels, the patient's symptoms were alleviated and there was regain of full function. There have been very few documented cases of these anomalous tendons implicated in carpal tunnel syndrome and this case highlights how such anatomical variations are important in the surgical approach to carpal tunnel decompression.
