Background: The characteristics of synovial fluid (SF) in geriatric patients differ from those in younger patients. In Mexico, epidemiologic data on the incidence of different rheumatic diseases in geriatric patients are scarce. Objective: To describe the physical characteristics of geriatric SF and the prevalence of crystals in knee and other joint aspirates from patients with previously diagnosed joint disease. Materials and methods: A retrospective study was performed with a baseline of 517 SF samples between 2011 and 2023. White blood cell count was performed by Neubauer chamber and crystals were identified by polarized light microscopy. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed and prevalence was reported as a percentage. Results: The mean age of the adults was 73.5±5.0 years, 54.4% were women and 45.6% were men. The mean SF volume was 6.3±9.5mL in older adults and 15.3±24.9mL in those younger than 65 years. The mean viscosity in older adults was 9.5±4.5mm and the mean leukocyte count was 7352±16,402leukocytes/mm3. Seventy percent of the older adults’ SFs were referred to the laboratory for osteoarthritis (OA), with lower proportions for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (14.6%) and gout (5.1%). Of the crystals observed in the geriatric population, 14.6% corresponded to monosodium urate crystals (CUM) and 18.9% to calcium pyrophosphate crystals (CPP). Conclusions: The characteristics of LS in older adults were smaller volume, increased viscosity, and non-inflammatory. The main diagnoses were OA, RA, and gout. The crystal content of the SF of the geriatric population corresponded mainly to CPP.(AU)


Antecedentes: Las características del líquido sinovial (LS) en pacientes geriátricos varían en comparación con pacientes más jóvenes. En México, los datos epidemiológicos sobre la incidencia de diversas enfermedades reumáticas en el paciente geriátrico son escasos. Objetivo: Describir las características físicas del LS geriátrico y la prevalencia de cristales en aspirados de rodilla y otras articulaciones de pacientes con enfermedades articulares previamente diagnosticadas.Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo con una base de 517 muestras de LS entre 2011 y 2023. El recuento de glóbulos blancos se realizó con cámara de Neubauer, y los cristales se identificaron por microscopia de luz polarizada. Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo y la prevalencia se reportó como porcentaje. Resultados: La edad promedio en los adultos fue de 73,5±5,0 años; el 54,4% fueron mujeres y el 45,6%, hombres. El volumen promedio del LS en adultos mayores fue de 6,3±9,5ml, mientras que en menores de 65 años fue de 15,3±24,9ml. La viscosidad promedio fue de 9,5±4,5mm en los adultos mayores, y una cuenta de 7.352±16.402 leucocitos/mm3. El 70% de los LS de los adultos mayores fueron remitidos a laboratorio por osteoartritis (OA), u una proporción más baja, por artritis reumatoide (AR) (14,6%) y gota (5,1%). En cuanto a los cristales observados en los LS de la población geriátrica, el 14,6% correspondieron a cristales de urato monosódico (CUM) y el 18,9%, a cristales de pirofosfato de calcio (CPP). Conclusiones: Las características del LS en los adultos mayores fueron menor volumen, viscosidad incrementada y no inflamatorios. Los principales diagnósticos fueron OA, AR y gota. El contenido de los cristales en los LS de la población geriátrica correspondió principalmente a CPP.(AU)

Holm oak (Quercus ilex) is considered to be one of the major structural elements of Mediterranean forests and the agrosilvopastoral Spanish "dehesa", making it an outstanding example of ecological and socioeconomic sustainability in forest ecosystems. The exotic Phytophthora cinnamomi is one of the most aggressive pathogens of woody species and, together with drought, is considered to be one of the main drivers of holm oak decline. The effect of and response to P. cinnamomi inoculation were studied in the offspring of mother trees from two Andalusian populations, Cordoba and Huelva. At the two locations, acorns collected from both symptomatic (damaged) and asymptomatic (apparently healthy) trees were sampled. Damage symptoms, mortality, and chlorophyll fluorescence were evaluated in seedlings inoculated under humid and drought conditions. The effect and response depended on the population and were more apparent in Huelva than in Cordoba. An integrated proteomic and metabolomic analysis revealed the involvement of different metabolic pathways in response to the pathogen in both populations, including amino acid metabolism pathways in Huelva, and terpenoid and flavonoid biosynthesis in Cordoba. However, no differential response was observed between seedlings inoculated under humid and drought conditions. A protective mechanism of the photosynthetic apparatus was activated in response to defective photosynthetic activity in inoculated plants, which seemed to be more efficient in the Cordoba population. In addition, enzymes and metabolites of the phenylpropanoid and flavonoid biosynthesis pathways may have conferred higher resistance in the Cordoba population. Some enzymes are proposed as markers of resilience, among which glyoxalase I, glutathione reductase, thioredoxin reductase, and cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase are candidates.

Mpox (monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease that has been endemic in African countries for decades, with a recent global outbreak in countries around the world. A 39-year-old male with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-hepatitis B virus (HBV) coinfection and poor adherence to antiretroviral treatment, who was severely immunocompromised and had a concurrent diagnosis of Mpox, presented to our hospital with disseminated skin lesions (over 350 lesions), perianal ulcers, odynophagia, oral intolerance, diarrhea, and soft-tissue bacterial superinfection of the lower extremities. Laboratory results were consistent with HBV infection, with an absolute CD4 cell count of 40 cells/uL and a positive PCR result for monkeypox virus. An abdominopelvic CT scan showed evidence of severe proctitis and perineal soft-tissue infection. Sixty-five days after a positive monkeypox virus PCR, new lesions in the vesicular stage continued to appear, eventually developing hemodynamic instability and sepsis, resulting in a fatal outcome. Our case highlights the importance of intentionally looking for risk factors such as HIV/HBV coinfection and evaluating immune status (CD4 cell count) in patients with severe Mpox because it could be related to higher mortality.

ABSTRACT: Sjögren syndrome (SS) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by destruction of mucosal glands resulting in dry eye and dry mouth. Ocular presentations can be heterogenous in SS with corneal nerves abnormalities that are structural, functional, or both. Some individuals present with corneal hyposensitivity, with a phenotype of decreased tear production and epithelial disruption. Others present with corneal hypersensitivity, with a phenotype of neuropathic pain including light sensitivity and pain out of proportion to signs of tear dysfunction. A similar correlate can be found outside the eye, with dry mouth predominating in some individuals while pain conditions predominate in others. Understanding how nerve status affects SS phenotype is an important first step to improving disease management by targeting nerve abnormalities, as well as inflammation.

BACKGROUND: Hikikomori refers to the extreme isolation of individuals in their own homes, lasting at least six months. In recent years social isolation has become an important clinical, social, and public health problem, with increased awareness of hikikomori around the globe. Portuguese is one of the six most spoken languages in the world, but no studies have analysed the content regarding this phenomenon expressed in Portuguese. OBJECTIVE: To explore the hikikomori phenomenon on Twitter in Portuguese, utilising a mixed-methods approach encompassing content analysis, emotional analysis, and correlation analysis. METHODS: A mixed methods analysis of all publicly available tweets in the Portuguese language using a specific keyword (hikikomori) between 1st January 2008 and 19th October 2022. The content analysis involved categorising tweets based on tone, content, and user types, while correlation analysis was used to investigate user engagement and geographical distribution. Statistical analysis and artificial intelligence were employed to classify and interpret the tweet data. RESULTS: Among the total of 13,915 tweets generated, in terms of tone 10,731 were classified as "negative", and 3184 as "positive". Regarding content, "curiosities" was the most posted, as well as the most retweeted and liked topic. Worldwide, most of the hikikomori related tweets in Portuguese were posted in Europe, while "individuals with hikikomori" were the users most active posting. Regarding emotion analysis, the majority of tweets were "neutral". CONCLUSIONS: These findings show the global prevalence of the discourse on hikikomori phenomenon among Portuguese speakers. It also indicates an increase in the number of tweets on this topic in certain continents over the years. These findings can contribute to developing specific interventions, support networks, and awareness-raising campaigns for affected individuals.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Changes in phosphatidylcholine levels in the liver have been associated with the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. Here, the effects of supplementing phosphatidylcholine on the development of early signs of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis were assessed. METHODS: Male and female C57BL/6J mice were fed a liquid control or a fructose-, fat-, and/or cholesterol-rich diet for 7 or 8 weeks. The diets of female mice were fortified ± phosphatidylcholine (12.5 mg/g diet). In liver tissue and portal blood, indices of liver damage, inflammation, and bacterial endotoxemia were measured. J774A.1 cells and human monocytes preincubated with phosphatidylcholine (0.38 mmol/L) were challenged with lipopolysaccharide (50-100 ng/mL) ± the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) activator pioglitazone (10 µmol/L) or ± a liver receptor homolog 1 (LRH-1) antagonist 1-(3'-[1-(2-[4-morpholinyl]ethyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-yl]-3-biphenylyl)ethanon (1-10 µmol/L). RESULTS: In fructose-, fat-, and/or cholesterol-rich diet-fed mice the development of fatty liver and the beginning of inflammation were associated with significantly lower hepatic phosphatidylcholine levels when compared with controls. Supplementing phosphatidylcholine significantly attenuated the development of fatty liver and inflammation, being associated with protection against the induction of PPARγ2, and activation of nuclear factor of κ light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cell inhibitor α whereas Lrh1 expression was unchanged. The protective effects of phosphatidylcholine on the lipopolysaccharide-induced activation of J774A.1 cells and human monocytes were attenuated significantly by the PPARγ activator pioglitazone and the LRH-1 antagonist. CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that phosphatidylcholine levels in the liver are lower in early metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis in mice and that supplementation of phosphatidylcholine can diminish the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease through mechanisms involving LRH-1/PPARγ2/ nuclear factor κ-light-chain enhancer of activated B-cell signaling.

BACKGROUND: To examine ocular symptoms and signs of veterans with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) diagnosis, ME/CFS symptoms, and controls. METHODS: This was a prospective, cross-sectional study of 124 South Florida veterans in active duty during the Gulf War era. Participants were recruited at an ophthalmology clinic at the Miami Veterans Affairs Hospital and evaluated for a diagnosis of ME/CFS, or symptoms of ME/CFS (intermediate fatigue, IF) using the Canadian Consensus criteria. Ocular symptoms were assessed via standardised questionnaires and signs via comprehensive slit lamp examination. Inflammatory blood markers were analysed and compared across groups. RESULTS: Mean age was 55.1 ± 4.7 years, 88.7% identified as male, 58.1% as White, and 39.5% as Hispanic. Ocular symptoms were more severe in the ME/CFS (n = 32) and IF (n = 48) groups compared to controls (n = 44) across dry eye (DE; Ocular Surface Disease Index [OSDI]: 48.9 ± 22.3 vs. 38.8 ± 23.3 vs. 19.1 ± 17.8, p < 0.001; 5 item Dry Eye Questionnaire [DEQ-5]: 10.8 ± 3.9 vs. 10.0 ± 4.6 vs. 6.6 ± 4.2, p < 0.001) and pain-specific questionnaires (Numerical Rating Scale 1-10 [NRS] right now: 2.4 ± 2.8 vs. 2.4 ± 2.9 vs 0.9 ± 1.5; p = 0.007; Neuropathic Pain Symptom Inventory modified for the Eye [NPSI-E]: 23.0 ± 18.6 vs. 19.8 ± 19.1 vs. 6.5 ± 9.0, p < 0.001). Ocular surface parameters and blood markers of inflammation were generally similar across groups. CONCLUSION: Individuals with ME/CFS report increased ocular pain but similar DE signs, suggesting that mechanisms beyond the ocular surface contribute to symptoms.

Environmental mercury (Hg) contamination of the global tropics outpaces our understanding of its consequences for biodiversity. Knowledge gaps of pollution exposure could obscure conservation threats in the Neotropics: a region that supports over half of the world's species, but faces ongoing land-use change and Hg emission via artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM). Due to their global distribution and sensitivity to pollution, birds provide a valuable opportunity as bioindicators to assess how accelerating Hg emissions impact an ecosystem's ability to support biodiversity, and ultimately, global health. We present the largest database on Neotropical bird Hg concentrations (n = 2316) and establish exposure baselines for 322 bird species spanning nine countries across Central America, South America, and the West Indies. Patterns of avian Hg exposure in the Neotropics broadly align with those in temperate regions: consistent bioaccumulation across functional groups and high spatiotemporal variation. Bird species occupying higher trophic positions and aquatic habitats exhibited elevated Hg concentrations that have been previously associated with reductions in reproductive success. Notably, bird Hg concentrations were over four times higher at sites impacted by ASGM activities and differed by season for certain trophic niches. We developed this synthesis via a collaborative research network, the Tropical Research for Avian Conservation and Ecotoxicology (TRACE) Initiative, which exemplifies inclusive, equitable, and international data-sharing. While our findings signal an urgent need to assess sampling biases, mechanisms, and consequences of Hg exposure to tropical avian communities, the TRACE Initiative provides a meaningful framework to achieve such goals. Ultimately, our collective efforts support and inform local, scientific, and government entities, including Parties of the United Nations Minamata Convention on Mercury, as we continue working together to understand how Hg pollution impacts biodiversity conservation, ecosystem function, and public health in the tropics.


RESúMEN: La contaminación ambiental por mercurio (Hg) en los trópicos supera nuestra comprensión de sus consecuencias para la biodiversidad. Los vacíos de conocimiento que existen sobre la exposición a la contaminación podrían ocultar las amenazas para la conservación en el Neotrópico: una región que alberga a más de la mitad de las especies del mundo, pero que enfrenta una continua intensificación de las emisiones de Hg y del cambio de uso del suelo por el avance de la minería de oro artesanal y de pequeña escala (MAPE). Debido a su distribución global y su sensibilidad a la contaminación, las aves brindan una oportunidad valiosa como bioindicadores para evaluar cómo las emisiones de Hg afectan la capacidad de un ecosistema para sustentar la biodiversidad y, en última instancia, la salud global. Presentamos la más grande base de datos sobre concentraciones de Hg en aves Neotropicales (n = 2,316) para establecer una línea base para los niveles de exposición a Hg en 322 especies de aves de nueve países de América Central, América del Sur, y el Caribe. Encontramos patrones de las concentraciones de Hg en aves de los trópicos que se asemejan a los de las regiones templadas: mostrando una bioacumulación consistente a través de grupos funcionales y una alta variación espaciotemporal. Las especies de aves que ocupan posiciones más altas en la cadena trófica y en hábitats acuáticos registraron concentraciones elevadas de Hg que podrían tener efectos negativos en su éxito reproductivo. Es importante resaltar que las concentraciones de Hg en las aves de los sitios afectados por la MAPE fueron cuatro veces más altas que las de los sitios control y además difirió por temporada para ciertos nichos tróficos. Desarrollamos esta síntesis a través de una red de investigación colaborativa, la Iniciativa de Investigación Tropical para la Conservación y Ecotoxicología Aviar (TRACE), que ejemplifica un intercambio de datos inclusivo, equitativo e internacional. Si bien nuestros hallazgos sugieren una necesidad urgente de evaluar los sesgos en el muestreo, los mecanismos, y las consecuencias de la exposición al Hg en las comunidades de aves tropicales, la Iniciativa TRACE proporciona un marco para abordar estos objetivos. Nuestro esfuerzo colectivo tiene como propósito respaldar y brindar información a las entidades locales, científicas, y gubernamentales, incluyendo las Partes de la Convención de Minamata de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Mercurio, mientras continuamos trabajando juntos para comprender cómo la contaminación por Hg en los trópicos puede afectar la salud pública, el funcionamiento de los ecosistemas, y la conservación de la biodiversidad. Even though smoking has been scarcely studied in osteoarthritis (OA) etiology, it is considered a controversial risk factor for the disease. Exposure to tobacco smoke has been reported to promote oxidative stress (OS) as part of the damage mechanism. The aim of this study was to assess whether smoking increases cartilage damage through the generation of OS. Peripheral blood (PB) and synovial fluid (SF) samples from patients with OA were analyzed. The samples were stratified according to smoking habit, Kellgren-Lawrence score, pain, and cotinine concentrations in PB. Malondialdehyde (MDA), methylglyoxal (MGO), advanced protein oxidation products (APOPs), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) were assessed; the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), glutathione S-transferase (GST) and catalase (CAT), as well as the activity of arginase, which favors the destruction of cartilage, was determined. When stratified by age, for individuals <60 years, the levels of MDA and APOPs and the activity of MPO and GST were higher, as well as antioxidant system activity in the smoking group (OA-S). A greater degree of pain in the OA-S group increased the concentrations of APOPs and arginase activity (P < 0.01 and P < 0.05, respectively). Arginase activity increased significantly with a higher degree of pain (P < 0.01). Active smoking can be an important risk factor for the development of OA by inducing systemic OS in young adults, in addition to reducing antioxidant enzymes in older adults and enhancing the degree of pain and loss of cartilage.

Standard Palm Oil (SPO) is widely used as a food ingredient partially due to its unique thermophysical properties. However, the American Heart Association recommends a saturated fat consumption of <5% of the caloric intake per day. The OxG Palm hybrid yields oil known as "palm oil with a higher content of oleic acid" (HOPO), with <35% SFA and >50% oleic acid. Characterizing novel high oleic oils is the starting point to find processes that can functionalize them such as oleogelation. This study compared the thermophysical properties of HOPO to SPO using Differential Scanning Calorimetry, shear rheology, polarized light microscopy, and texture analysis to characterize the differences between these oils. HOPO had a lower onset crystallization temperature (Δ7 °C) and its rheological behavior followed similar trends to SPO; however, large viscosity offsets were observed and were correlated to differences in crystallization temperatures. The maximum peak force of SPO was an order of magnitude higher than that of HOPO. Overall similar trends between the oils were observed, but differences in firmness, crystal morphology, and viscosity were not linearly correlated with the offset in crystallization temperature. This study quantified differences between these oils that will better enable industry to use HOPO in specific applications.

The holm oak (Quercus ilex subsp. ballota) is the most representative species of the Mediterranean Basin and the agrosylvopastoral Spanish "dehesa" ecosystem. Being part of our life, culture, and subsistence since ancient times, it has significant environmental and economic importance. More recently, there has been a renewed interest in using the Q. ilex acorn as a functional food due to its nutritional and nutraceutical properties. However, the holm oak and its related ecosystems are threatened by different factors, with oak decline syndrome and climate change being the most worrying in the short and medium term. Breeding programs informed by the selection of elite genotypes seem to be the most plausible biotechnological solution to rescue populations under threat. To achieve this and other downstream analyses, we need a high-quality and well-annotated Q. ilex reference genome. Here, we introduce the first draft genome assembly of Q. ilex using long-read sequencing (PacBio). The assembled nuclear haploid genome had 530 contigs totaling 842.2 Mbp (N50 = 3.3 Mbp), of which 448.7 Mb (53%) were repetitive sequences. We annotated 39,443 protein-coding genes of which 94.80% were complete and single-copy genes. Phylogenetic analyses showed no evidence of a recent whole-genome duplication, and high synteny of the 12 chromosomes between Q. ilex and Quercus lobata and between Q. ilex and Quercus robur. The chloroplast genome size was 142.3 Kbp with 149 protein-coding genes successfully annotated. This first draft should allow for the validation of omics data as well as the identification and functional annotation of genes related to phenotypes of interest such as those associated with resilience against oak decline syndrome and climate change and higher acorn productivity and nutraceutical value.

The inadequate management of organic waste and excessive use of plastic containers cause damage to the environment; therefore, different studies have been carried out to obtain new biomaterials from agricultural subproducts. The objective of this work was to evaluate the feasibility of using the pectin extracted from the peel of Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima (PT), characterizing its type and viability for the production of edible biodegradable films. In addition, films of two thicknesses (23.45 ± 3.02 µm and 53.34 ± 2.28 µm) were prepared. The results indicated that PT is an excellent raw material for the extraction of pectin, with high yields (23.02 ± 0.02%), high galacturonic acid content (65.43 ± 2.241%), neutral sugars (ribose, xylose, glucose) and a high degree of esterification (76.93 ± 1.65%), classifying it as a high-methoxy pectin. Regarding the films, they were malleable and flexible, with a water vapor permeability from 2.57 × 10-10 ± 0.046 to 0.13 × 10-10 ± 0.029 g/s mPa according to thickness, being similar to other Passiflora varieties of edible films. The pectin extraction yield from PT makes this fruit a promising material for pectin production and its chemical composition a valuable additive for the food and pharmaceutical industries.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Findings on the role of diet in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) pathogenesis are inconsistent. There are few studies on the dietary habits of pregnant women with NAFLD. Our primary aim was to compare the dietary intakes of pregnant women with and without NAFLD. METHODS: This case-control study recruited 60 women (26-34 weeks' gestation) with recently diagnosed gestational diabetes (GDM) before any treatment was implemented. At recruitment, all participants underwent B-mode hepatic ultrasound. We included 30 women with sonographic NAFLD (cases) and 30 women without NAFLD (controls) matched for age, skin color, and pre-pregnancy body mass index. We assessed participants' dietary intakes in the last six months using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Mann-Whitney´s test was used to compare differences in median macro and micronutrient intakes between cases and controls. RESULTS: Total median daily energy (1965.1 × 1949.2 calories) and lipid (25.1% × 28.3%) intakes were similar in women with and without NAFLD and fell within recommended ranges. Participants with NAFLD reported significantly higher median daily intakes of carbohydrates (59.4% × 53.1% p = 0.003), and significantly lower protein (15.6% × 17.0% p = 0.005), fiber (10.7 × 13.3 g/day p = 0.010), and vitamin C (151.8 × 192.6 mg/day p = 0.008) intakes than those without NAFLD. CONCLUSIONS: Pregnant women with NAFLD ingest more carbohydrates and less protein, fiber, and vitamin C than those without NAFLD. Our findings contribute to understanding the role of diet in the development of NAFLD in pregnant women.

Sugar-rich diets, but also the use of intense sweeteners, may alter intestinal barrier function. Here, we assessed the effect of sucrose and sucralose on post-prandial endotoxemia in a randomized placebo-controlled single-blinded crossover-designed study. Following a 2-day standardization of their diet, healthy men and women received a beverage containing either sucrose, sucralose (iso-sweet) or an isocaloric combination of sucralose + maltodextrin. Plasma endotoxin levels were measured after consumption of the respective beverages. Moreover, the effect of sucrose and sucralose on intestinal permeability was assessed in Caco-2 cells and ex vivo in an everted gut sac model. The nutritional standardization recommended by nutrition societies was associated with a significant decrease in plasma endotoxin levels. The intake of the sucrose-sweetened beverage resulted in a significant increase in plasma endotoxin levels while being unchanged after the intake of sucralose-sweetened beverages. In Caco-2 cells, the challenge with sucrose but not with sucralose significantly increased the permeation of the bacterial endotoxin across the cell monolayer. Xylose permeation in small intestinal everted tissue sacs was significantly higher upon the challenge with sucrose while remaining unchanged in sucralose-challenged sacs. Our data suggest that an acute intake of physiologically relevant amounts of sucrose but not of sucralose can result in post-prandial endotoxemia.

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) is thought to be a critical factor in the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Here, we determined the effects of a treatment with the anti-TNFα antibody infliximab and a genetic deletion of TNFα, respectively, in the development of non-obese diet-induced early metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) in mice. The treatment with infliximab improved markers of liver damage in mice with pre-existing early MASH. In TNFα-/- mice, the development of early signs of MASH and insulin resistance was significantly attenuated compared to wild-type animals. While mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines like interleukin 1ß (Il1b) and interleukin 6 (Il6) were significantly lower in livers of MASH-diet-fed TNFα-/- mice compared to wild-type mice with early MASH, markers of intestinal barrier function were similarly impaired in both MASH-diet-fed groups compared to controls. Our data suggest that TNFα is a key regulator of hepatic inflammation and insulin resistance associated with the development of early non-obese MASH.
