We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the Intranasal Atomized Dexmedetomidine (IAD)+Intranasal Atomized Butorphanol (IAB) combination therapy on adult burn patients undergoing dressing changes. Herein, 46 adult burn patients were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: Dexmedetomidine-Butorphanol (DB) and Saline-Butorphanol (SB), treated with atomized dexmedetomidine+butorphanol and saline +butorphanol, respectively. The primary outcomes were the Ramsay Sedation Scale (RSS) and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores. The secondary outcomes were Mean Blood Pressure (MBP), Heart Rate (HR), Respiratory Rate (RR), peripheral blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), total butorphanol consumption, and Adverse Effects (AEs). The two groups were comparable in age, sex, weight, and Total Burn Surface Area (TBSA). During dressing changes, the DB group exhibited significantly lower RSS levels (P<0.05). Besides, the two groups showed no significant differences in VAS scores across all measurement time points. Notably, the DB group exhibited decreased MBP at the beginning of the operation (P<0.0001), 10 min after (P<0.0001), and 20 min after (P=0.0205). HR decreased significantly at the beginning (P=0.0005) and 10 min after (P=0.0088) in the DB group. Furthermore, the two groups showed no significant differences in RR and SpO2 levels. Additionally, the rescue butorphanol dose was lower in the DB group (P<0.001). Finally, dizziness and nausea incidences were significantly lower in the DB group (P<0.05). In conclusion, besides its hemodynamic adverse reactions, the IAD+IAB combination therapy exerted a better sedation effect in adult burn patients than IAB treatment alone.

BACKGROUND: Skin Cutaneous Melanoma (SKCM) is a highly aggressive malignant tumor with a significant increase in mortality upon metastasis. The molecular mechanisms driving melanoma progression remain largely unclear. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of epigenetic alterations, especially DNA methylation, in melanoma development. This study aims to identify and analyze methylation-regulated differentially expressed genes (MeDEGs) in genome-wide profiles between primary and metastatic melanoma. METHODS: Gene expression profiling datasets GSE8401 and gene methylation profiling datasets GSE86355 were collected from the GEO database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially methylated genes (DMGs) were systematically identified. Integration of DEGs and DMGs yielded a set of MeDEGs, which subsequently underwent functional enrichment analysis. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed using STRING and visualized using Cytoscape software. Survival analysis was used to select prognostic hub genes. In addition, 37 SKCM and 37 normal skin tissues from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (FAHSU) were collected for immunohistochemical (IHC) staining and evaluation. Furthermore, DNA methylation patterns of CDC6 were analyzed. To validate these findings, SKCM cell cultures were utilized to elucidate the expression and behavioral characteristics of CDC6. Additionally, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and immune infiltration analysis were conducted for CDC6. RESULTS: In our study, we discovered 120 hypomethylated-upregulated genes and 212 hypermethylated-downregulated genes. The hypomethylated-upregulated genes were notably associated with biological processes such as spindle assembly checkpoint signaling, mitotic spindle assembly, and negative regulation of mitotic metaphase/anaphase transition. Our pathway analysis revealed significant enrichment in pathways related to dilated cardiomyopathy, amino sugar metabolism, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, and chemical carcinogenesis. Conversely, hypermethylated-downregulated genes were found to be enriched in processes like epidermis development, keratinocyte differentiation, and skin development. Additionally, pathway analysis highlighted associations with estrogen signaling, Staphylococcus aureus infection, axon guidance, and arachidonic acid metabolism. Following the establishment of PPI networks and survival analysis, we identified 11 prognostic hub genes: CCNA2, CDC6, CDCA3, CKS2, DTL, HJURP, KRT5, KRT14, KRT15, KRT16, and NEK2. Notably, among the 11 hub genes, our findings indicate that CDC6 plays a pivotal role in enhancing the proliferation, migration, and invasion capabilities of melanoma cells in vitro. CONCLUSIONS: Our comprehensive genomic analyses reveal that genes with aberrant methylation exhibit differential expression during the transition from primary to metastatic melanoma. The identified genes, especially CDC6, which plays a crucial role in enhancing melanoma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, provide valuable insights into potential methylation-based biomarkers. These findings could contribute significantly to advancing precision medicine in SKCM.

BACKGROUND: Postoperative complications are vital factors affecting the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), especially for complex hepatectomy. The present study aimed to compare perioperative complications between laparoscopic and robotic complex hepatectomy (LCH vs. RCH). METHODS: Patients with solitary HCC after complex hepatectomy were collected from a multicenter database. Propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis was adopted to control confounding bias. Multivariable analysis was performed to determine the prognostic factors. RESULTS: 436 patients were included. After PSM, 43 patients were included in both the LCH and RCH groups. The results showed that compared to LCH, RCH had lower rates of blood loss and transfusion, and lower postoperative 30-day and major morbidity, and post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) (all P < 0.05). Additionally, the length of hospital stay was shorter in the RCH group (P = 0.026). Multivariable analysis showed RCH is an independent protective factor for reducing the 30-day morbidity, major morbidity and PHLF. CONCLUSION: RCH has advantages over LCH in the minimally invasive treatment of complex HCC, as it can reduce the incidence of postoperative morbidity. Therefore, RCH should be considered for patients with HCC who require complex hepatectomy.

BACKGROUND: The Naples Prognostic Score (NPS), integrating inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers, has been reported to be associated with the prognosis of various malignancies, but there is no report on intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This study aimed to explore the prognostic value of NPS in patients with ICC. METHODS: Patients with ICC after hepatectomy were collected, and divided into three groups. The prognosis factors were determined by Cox regression analysis. Predictive efficacy was evaluated by the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS: A total of 174 patients were included (Group 1: 33 (19.0%) patients; Group 2: 83 (47.7%) patients; and Group 3: 58 (33.3%) patients). The baseline characteristics showed the higher the NPS, the higher the proportion of patients with cirrhosis and Child-Pugh B, and more advanced tumors. The Kaplan-Meier curves reflect higher NPS were associated with poor survival. Multivariable analysis showed NPS was an independent risk factor of overall survival (NPS group 2 vs. 1: HR = 1.671, 95% CI: 1.022-3.027, p = 0.009; NPS group 3 vs. 1: HR = 2.208, 95% CI: 1.259-4.780, p = 0.007) and recurrence-free survival (NPS group 2 vs. 1: HR = 1.506, 95% CI: 1.184-3.498, p = 0.010; NPS group 3 vs. 1: HR = 2.141, 95% CI: 2.519-4.087, P = 0.001). The time ROC indicated NPS was superior to other models in predicting prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: NPS is a simple and effective tool for predicting the long-term survival of patients with ICC after hepatectomy. Patients with high NPS require close follow-up, and improving NPS may prolong the survival time.

BACKGROUND: Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) hold promising application prospects in the treatment of diabetic wounds, although the underlying mechanisms of repair have not been fully elucidated. This research aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which ADSCs promote wound healing. METHODS: Exosomes from ADSCs were isolated and circRps5 level was identified. To investigate the role of circRps5 in the regulation, exosomes from differently treated ADSCs were used. Different exosomes were injected into the edge of the wound in diabetic mice, and the effects on wound healing status, pathology, collagen, cytokines, and macrophage phenotype were assessed. Raw264.7 cells were co-treated with high glucose and exosomes, and then cell phenotype and autophagy were examined in vitro, followed by the evaluation of miR-124-3p's impact on cell phenotype. RESULTS: Exosomes from ADSCs were isolated and identified using nanoparticle tracking analysis and exosome markers. Overexpression of circRps5 accelerated wound healing, reduced inflammatory response, enhanced collagen production, and promoted the M2 transformation of macrophages. In high glucose-induced macrophages, its overexpression also inhibited excessive autophagy. When macrophages overexpressed miR-124-3p, the induction of the M2 phenotype was suppressed. Luciferase reporter assay proved the combination of circRps5 and miR-124-3p. CONCLUSION: This study identifies that circRps5 carried by ADSC-Exos promotes macrophage M2 polarization through miR-124-3p. These findings provide valuable insights into the mechanism of ADSC-Exos for treating refractory diabetic wounds, laying a solid theoretical groundwork for future clinical development.

This research aimed to investigate the effect of slow-released angiogenin by silicon micro-needle on angiogenesis in the Choke zone of dorsal multiple-territory perforator flap in rats, as well as its mechanism. Thirty-six adult Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, and four experimental groups. In model group, slow-release saline through a silicon micro-needle was placed in choke II zone of the flap 7 days before the operation. For rats in four experimental groups, angiogenin was released via micro-needle in the choke I and choke II zones of the cross-zone flap 7 days before and 3 days before flap surgery, respectively. A 12 cm × 3 cm cross-zone perforator flap model was made on the back of all five groups. The flap survival rate in slow-release angiopoietin group was statistically higher than that in model group (P<0.05). Angiogenin in choke zone of the flap was increased in slow-release angiogenin group (P<0.05). In slow-release angiogenin group, the micro-vessel density was increased and the arteriovenous diameter was decreased, while the arteriovenous diameter was increased in model group (P<0.05). The levels of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) and angiotensin 1 (ANG-1) in choke zone were both elevated in slow-release angiogenin group (P<0.05). The expression of CD31 was significantly elevated in flaps of experimental groups (P<0.05). Micro-needle to slow release Angiogenin can increase the drug concentration in the tissues of the choke zone, promote the vascularization of rat dorsal crossover area perforator flap, reduce the possibility of flap ischemic necrosis, and improve the flap survival rate.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) undergoing hepatectomy is unsatisfactory, especially for those with microvascular invasion (MVI). This study aimed to determine the impact of adjuvant transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and Lenvatinib on the prognosis of patients with HCC and MVI after hepatectomy. METHODS: Patients diagnosed with HCC and MVI were reviewed, and stratified into four groups according to adjuvant TACE and/or Lenvatinib. Multivariate Cox regression analyses are used to determine independent risk factors. RESULTS: 346 patients were included, and divided into four groups (Group I, TACE+ Lenvatinib; Group II, Lenvatinib; Group III, TACE; Group IV, without adjuvant therapy). Multivariable analysis showed that compared to Group IV, Group I had the best effect on improving the overall survival (OS, HR 0.321, 95%CI 0.099-0.406, P = 0.001) and recurrence-free survival (RFS, HR 0.319, 95%CI 0.129-0.372, P = 0.001). Additionally, compared with Group II or Group III, Group I also can significantly improve the OS and RFS. There is no significant difference between Group II and Group III in OS and RFS. CONCLUSION: The combination of TACE and Lenvatinib should be considered for anti-recurrence therapy for patients with HCC and MVI after hepatectomy.

The aim of this study is to delineate the expression patterns of prolyl cis-trans isomerase NIMA-interacting protein 1 (Pin1), Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and Angiotensin II (ANG II) during the process of wound repair, and to ascertain the effects of Pin1, GDNF, and ANG II on the healing of wounds in a rat model. A total of 18 rats were allocated into three groups-sham (control), DMSO (vehicle control), and Pin1 inhibitor (treatment with juglone)-with six animals in each group. An animal model of wound healing was established, followed by the intraperitoneal administration of juglone. Tissue samples from the wounds were subsequently collected for histopathological evaluation. Expression levels of Pin1, GDNF, and Ang II were quantified. In addition, an in vitro model of wound healing was created using human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), to assess cell proliferation, migration, and tube formation under conditions of juglone pre-treatment. The expression levels of Pin1, GDNF, and ANG II were notably elevated on 7-, and 10- days post-wound compared to those measured on 3-day. Contrastingly, pre-treatment with juglone significantly inhibited the expression of these molecules. Histological analyses, including HE (Hematoxylin and Eosin), Masson's trichrome, and EVG (Elastic van Gieson) staining, demonstrated that vascular angiogenesis, as well as collagen and elastin deposition, were substantially reduced in the juglone pre-treated group when compared to the normal group. Further, immunohistochemical analysis revealed a considerable decrease in CD31 expression in the juglone pre-treatment group relative to the normal control group. Pin1 serves as a pivotal facilitator of wound repair. The findings indicate that the modulation of Pin1, GDNF, and ANG II expression impacts the wound healing process in rats, suggesting potential targets for therapeutic intervention in human wound repair.

A new type of titanium phthalate (Ti-PA) catalyst was prepared by exchange method of phthalic acid and isopropyl titanate, which is never been reported before. The Ti-PA catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, TG, Uv-vis, BET, SEM, and EDS. The Ti-PA catalyst shows good catalytic activity in the alcoholysis reaction of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and optimal experimental conditions for the alcoholysis process were optimized by response surface methodology; the Ti-PA catalyst provided a BHET yield of 81.98% for reaction lasting 3.98 h at 191 °C of 0.86% catalyst and 13.7 ml ethylene glycol; the model has good reliability. The kinetics and reaction mechanism of the process were explored and apparent activation energy is 75.52 kJ/mol. Finally, the good catalytic activity of Ti-PA was illustrated by comparing it with currently reported catalysts.

BACKGROUND: Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is a serious complication after hepatectomy and a major cause of death. The current criteria for PHLF diagnosis (ISGLS consensus) require laboratory data of elevated INR level and hyperbilirubinemia on or after postoperative day 5. This study aims to propose a new indicator for the early clinical prediction of PHLF. METHODS: The peri-operative arterial lactate concentration level ratios were derived from time points within the 3 days before surgery and within POD1, the patients were divided into two groups: high lactate ratio group (≥ 1) and low lactate ratio group (< 1). We compared the differences in morbidity rates between the two groups. Utilized logistic regression analysis to identify the risk factors associated with PHLF development and ROC curves to compare the predictive value of lactate ratio and other liver function indicators for PHLF. RESULTS: A total of 203 patients were enrolled in the study. Overall morbidity and severe morbidity occurred in 64.5 and 12.8 per cent of patients respectively. 39 patients (19.2%) met the criteria for PHLF, including 15 patients (7.4%) with clinically relevant Post-hepatectomy liver failure (CR-PHLF). With a significantly higher incidence of PHLF observed in the lactate ratio ≥ 1 group compared to the lactate ratio < 1 group (n = 34, 26.8% vs. n = 5, 6.6%, P < 0.001). Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that a lactate ratio ≥ 1 was an independent predictor for PHLF (OR: 3.239, 95% CI 1.097-9.565, P = 0.033). Additionally, lactate ratio demonstrated good predictive efficacy for PHLF (AUC = 0.792). CONCLUSIONS: Early assessment of peri-operative arterial lactate concentration level ratios may provide experience in early intervention of complications in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, which can reduce the likelihood of PHLF occurrence and improve patient prognosis.

BACKGROUND: In cases where the upper arm exhibits an irregular cylindrical appearance with subcutaneous fat concentrated primarily in the posterior lateral aspect, traditional localized fat suction techniques may lead to uneven or disharmonious results when addressing this concern. Many practitioners have turned to circumferential fat suction methods using multi-incision approaches to ensure effective results and fat removal. However, these methods often involve numerous incisions and complex procedures, necessitating the development of new, more efficient surgical techniques. METHODS: We collected and screened patients who underwent upper arm circumferential liposuction with a double incision technique at our hospital from October 2020 to February 2023. A total of 496 cases were included in our retrospective analysis, in which we examined factors such as the length of surgery, arm circumference before and after surgery, subcutaneous tissue thickness before and after surgery, fat suction volume, postoperative satisfaction, and postoperative complications of the patients. RESULTS: The average length of surgery was 71.7 min. 458 cases (92.3%) showed significant improvement, 23 cases (4.6%) reported satisfaction, and 10 cases (2.0%) were essentially satisfied. Additionally, 339 cases (68.3%) experienced an improvement in skin laxity. Four cases (0.8%) developed localized hard nodules with slight tenderness in the early postoperative period, which resolved without special treatment after observation and follow-up for 1-3 months. Three cases (0.6%) reported localized pain or numbness, and they were given oral medication. Their symptoms disappeared after 1-3 months of observation and follow-up. Three cases (0.6%) had localized pain or numbness, and their symptoms disappeared. All of these cases improved and resolved after one month of taking mecobalamin tablets. There were also three cases (0.6%) with mild pigmentation of the incision and two cases (0.4%) with mild limitation of unilateral upper arm abduction movement. However, upper arm activities were not affected after three months to one year of follow-up. No serious complications were reported, resulting in an overall satisfaction rate of 99.0%. CONCLUSION: The double incision upper arm liposuction is safe, effective, time-saving, with high satisfaction and fewer complications, and is worthy of clinical popularization and application. Indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) has been widely employed for quantitative evaluation of the rat comb burn model, but the imaging equipment, imaging protocol, and fluorescence data interpretation of ICGA remain unsatisfactory. This study aims to provide better solutions for the application of ICGA in perfusion analysis. The rat comb burn model was established under a series of different comb contact durations, including 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 s. Indocyanine green angiography was used to analyze wound perfusion. In total, 16 rats were divided into ibuprofen and control groups for the burn model, and their perfusion was compared. A total of 16 identical models were divided into standard- and high-dose indocyanine green (ICG) groups, and ICGA was conducted to investigate the dynamic change in wound fluorescence. Escharectomy was performed under real-time fluorescence mapping and navigation. The results showed that a comb contact duration of 30 s was optimum for the burn model. Indocyanine green angiography could accurately evaluate the histologically determined depth of thermal injury and wound perfusion in the rat comb model. Digital subtraction of residual fluorescence was necessary for multiple comparisons of perfusion. Dynamic changes in fluorescence and necrotic tissues were observed more clearly by high-dose (0.5 mg/kg) ICG in angiography. In conclusion, perfusion analysis by ICGA can be used to assess the histologically determined depth of thermal injury and the impact of a specific treatment on wound perfusion. Indocyanine green angiography can help to identify necrotic tissue. The above findings and related imaging protocols lay the foundation for future research.

In this study, a Ti-Si-ethylene glycol salt (Ti/Si-EG) was synthesized and used as a catalyst for the depolymerization of PET-ethylene glycol to produce bis(hydroxyethyl)terephthalate (BHET), and the optimum conditions for the depolymerization were determined by response surface analysis: w(EG) : w(PET) was 4 : 1, the catalyst mass dosage was 0.56% (in terms of the mass of PET), the depolymerization temperature was 203 °C, the depolymerization time was 3.8 h, and the highest yield of the product (BHET) was 90.10%. Furthermore, the depolymerization product BHET was used as the raw material and Ti/Si-EG was used as the catalyst for the polycondensation reaction to synthesize PET, and the amount of the catalyst added was 0.015% by mass (in terms of BHET). The performance of the synthesized PET was tested to be the same as that of PET synthesized by the PTA method under the same conditions, thus achieving the resourceful treatment and high-value recycling of waste PET. The introduction of Si in the catalyst reduced the catalytic activity of Ti and avoided the problem of yellowing of polyester products, and the use of the glycol salt as a catalyst in the depolymerization and polycondensation reaction process did not introduce impurity groups.

BACKGROUND: Platelet distribution width (PDW), but not platelet count, was found to more comprehensively reflect platelet activity. The present study, thus, aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of PDW to lymphocyte ratio (PDWLR) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following hepatectomy. METHODS: Patients following hepatectomy were analyzed retrospectively. The Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox regression model were used to determine the prognostic value of PDWLR. RESULTS: 241 patients were analyzed eventually, and stratified into low and high PDWLR groups (≤ 9.66 vs. > 9.66). Results of comparing the baseline characteristics showed that high PDWLR was significantly associated with cirrhosis, and intraoperative blood loss (all P < 0.05). In multivariate COX regression analysis, PDWLR was demonstrated as an independent risk factor for OS (HR: 1.549, P = 0.041) and RFS (HR: 1.655, P = 0.005). Moreover, PDWLR demonstrated a superior capacity for predicting prognosis compared to other indicators. CONCLUSION: Preoperative PDWLR has a potential value in predicting the prognosis of HCC patients following hepatectomy, which may help in clinical decision-making for individual treatment.

The rapid development of industry in recent years has led to the introduction of serious pollutants into water bodies, and there is an urgent need for efficient organic degradation technologies. At present, selective peroxynitrite (PS) oxidation (SR-AOPs) is an effective way to treat pollutants in water bodies, and it is necessary to select a suitable material for the activation of peroxynitrite. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), with their tunable structure, large specific surface area, and tunable ligand molecules exhibit excellent reactivity and catalytic performance in the activation of persulfate. With MOF-based materials for PS activation as a novel advanced oxidation technology, this study reviews MOFs and their composites and derived materials. The current research status of activated persulfate for the treatment of organic pollutants in water, the influence of different systems on the degradation performance are discussed, and the activation and degradation mechanisms are discussed; the problems of the above materials in the degradation of organic pollutants are summarized, and research directions based on the coupled activated persulfate system of MOF materials are proposed.

Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) is one of the most aggressive malignancies, accounting for approximately 75% of skin cancer-related fatalities annually. Sterile a-motif domain-containing 9-like (SAMD9L) has been found to regulate cell proliferation and suppress the neoplastic phenotype, but its specific role in SKCM remains unknown. To investigate the cancer-associated immunology of SKCM and the role of SAMD9L in tumor progression, we conducted an integrative bioinformatics analysis that revealed elevated expression levels of SAMD9L in SKCM. ROC curves and survival analyses confirmed the considerable diagnostic and prognostic abilities of SAMD9L. Moreover, a real-world cohort of 35 SKCM patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University showed that higher expression levels of SAMD9L were associated with better prognosis. We performed validation experiments, including cell culture, generation of lentiviral-transfected SKCM cell lines, cell proliferation assay, and transwell assay, which demonstrated that down-regulation of SAMD9L significantly promoted proliferation and migration capacities of SKCM cells. Additionally, SAMD9L expression was found to be strongly linked to immune infiltration. Our results revealed a positive correlation between SAMD9L and XAF1 expression, suggesting that SAMD9L may serve as a prospective prognostic indicator of SKCM with co-expressed XAF1 gene. In summary, our findings indicate that SAMD9L may serve as a promising prognostic and therapeutic biomarker and play a critical role in tumor-immune interactions in SKCM.

Severe IVH often results in a poor outcome. Currently, EVD is a standard treatment for IVH, but there is little research to show whether using ultrasound to guide the catheter placement improves outcome. Patients with severe IVH who had iUS-guided EVD (the iUS-guided group) were enrolled retrospectively and compared with a group who had EVD performed without ultrasound guidance (the control group) from January 2016 to July 2022. Data were collected on accuracy of the catheter placement, complications and outcome at 3 months assessed by mRS. The accuracy of the EVD placement was classified as optimal placement, sub-optimal placement and misplacement according to the position of the catheter tip. The complications reported are catheter-related hemorrhage, intracranial infection and hydrocephalus. There were 105 cases enrolled, with 72 patients in the iUS-guided group having 131 catheters inserted and 33 patients in the group where ultrasound was not used with a total of 59 catheters. 116 (88.55%) were optimally placed, 12 (9.16%) sub-optimal and 3 (2.29%) misplaced in the iUS-guided group, while 25 (42.37%) were in optimally placed, 30 (50.85%) sub-optimal and 4(6.78%) misplaced in the control group. Accuracy of placement was highly significantly improved using ultrasound (P < 0.001). The operation time and the average catheterized time were longer in the iUS-guided group (P < 0.05), but the complication rates were no different between the groups. The mRS at three months was not significantly different between the two groups. Using iUS to place EVD catheters in patients with severe IVH is a safe technique delivering more accurate catheter placement without increasing the complication rate compared with freehand placement.

A titanium benzoate (Ti-BA) catalyst was prepared by hydrothermal method, which has an ordered eight-face structure, and was used for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) depolymerization. With bis(2-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate (BHET) as the target molecule and ethylene glycol (EG) as the solvent, the best reaction conditions for catalytic alcoholysis via a PET alcoholic solution were investigated via response surface experiments and found to be a EG/PET mass ratio of 3.59, temperature of 217 °C and reaction time of 3.3 h. Under these conditions, the amount of the catalyst required was only 2% of the mass of the PET, and the yield of BHET reached 90.01% and under the same conditions, the yield of BHET could still reach 80.1%. Based on the experimental results, the mechanism of alcoholysis, Ti-BA catalyst activated ethylene glycol deprotonation to achieve the progressive degradation of polymers. This experiment provides a reference for the degradation of polymer waste and other transesterification reactions.

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of sinus removal combined with vacuum-assisted closure in the treatment of sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus. From January 2019 to May 2022, 62 patients with sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus were treated and their information was collected at our hospital. These patients were randomly divided into two groups: an observation group (n = 32) and a control group (n = 30). The control group underwent a simple sinus resection and suture, while the observation group received a sinus resection combined with closed negative pressure drainage of the wound. A retrospective analysis of the data obtained was conducted. Perioperative indicators, clinical efficacy, postoperative pain, complications, aesthetic effects, and satisfaction scores at six months after the operation were compared between the two groups, and the recurrence rate at six months after the operation was recorded. Through this study, we found that the observation group had significantly shorter surgery time, hospital stay, and return time compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Additionally, the observation group had a higher overall recurrence rate (ORR) of 100.00%, which was significantly better than the control group's ORR of 86.67% (P < 0.05). The visual analog scale (VAS) score at 6, 12, and 24 h after the operation was significantly lower in the observation group compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Although the differences were not significant (P > 0.05), the observation group had decreased white blood cell, neutrophil, and C-reactive protein levels after the operation. Moreover, the total occurrence rate of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower (6.25%) than that of the control group (26.67%; P < 0.05). The observation group also had significantly lower scores on the postoperative scar scale and higher satisfaction scores than the control group (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the postoperative recurrence rate between the two groups (P > 0.05). Our study demonstrated that sinus resection combined with vacuum-assisted closure was more effective in treating sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus compared with simple sinus resection and suture. This approach significantly reduced surgery time, hospital stay, and return time. It also effectively relieved postoperative pain, reduced the occurrence of postoperative complications, resulted in smaller postoperative scars, and yielded better aesthetic outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.

Herein, a new approach for glycerol monooleate (GMO) was developed. GMO was synthesized via the esterification method using self-made sodium oleate and 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol as reactants, tetrabutylammonium bromide as the catalyst, and toluene as the solvent. The effects of the reaction molar ratio, type and amount of catalyst, and reaction temperature and time on the yield were investigated. Results showed that the optimal process conditions for synthesizing GMO were as follows. The molar ratio of sodium oleate to 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol was 1:2, the reaction temperature was 115°C, the reaction time was 6 h, weight of toluene was 25 g, and the catalyst dosage was 3.5%. Under these conditions, high-purity GMO was synthesized with a yield of 89.02%.
