RESUMEN

Two new species of Ochlodes Scudder, 1872, Ochlodespseudochraceus Zhu, Fan & Wang, sp. nov. and Ochlodescryptochraceus Zhu, Fan & Chiba, sp. nov., are found in China and described, and Ochlodesrikuchina (Butler, 1878) stat. rev. is restored. A lectotype is designated for Pamphilaochracea Bremer, 1861, and a neotype is designated for Pamphilarikuchina Butler, 1878. Overall, the two new species are similar to Ochlodesochraceus (Bremer, 1861). They, however, can be distinguished from the latter and other species in the genus: O.pseudochraceus has long radial spots in spaces R3-5, and the lateral process of the phallus gradually widens at the distal half in male genitalia; O.cryptochraceus has the lateral process of the phallus enlarged only at the distal tip. Based on the phylogenetic analyses of the mitochondrial COI gene, members of currently defined O.ochraceus are grouped into four clades. The genetic distances between O.pseudochraceus and O.ochraceus, O.cryptochraceus and O.ochraceus, O.rikuchina and O.ochraceus, and O.pseudochraceus and O.cryptochraceus are 3.2%, 2.1%, 1.9%, and 2.7%, respectively. Based on the molecular and morphological evidence, O.pseudochraceus, O.cryptochraceus, and O.rikuchina are treated to be distinct species. The adult habitus and male and female genitalia of the new species are illustrated as well as those of O.ochraceus and O.rikuchina.

RESUMEN

Eidophasia concinnella Christoph, 1888 is redescribed and illustrated, and a lectotype is designated. A diagnostic summary with illustrations of the female genitalia is given for E. concinnella and its two most similar congeners, E. syenitella (Herrich-Schäffer, [1854]) and E. zukowskyi Amsel, 1938.

RESUMEN

A preliminary list of the pyraloid moths of Kyrgyzstan is provided. In total, 264 species are mentioned for this country, among them 117 listed by literature data and 146 species recorded in current paper for the first time. Another 97 species are known from the neighboring territories and most probably are also present in Kyrgyzstan.

RESUMEN

Global environmental changes may cause dramatic insect declines but over century-long time series of certain species' records are rarely available for scientific research. The Menetries' Tiger Moth (Arctia menetriesii) appears to be the most enigmatic example among boreal insects. Although it occurs throughout the entire Eurasian taiga biome, it is so rare that less than 100 specimens were recorded since its original description in 1846. Here, we present the database, which contains nearly all available information on the species' records collected from 1840s to 2020. The data on A. menetriesii records (N = 78) through geographic regions, environments, and different timeframes are compiled and unified. The database may serve as the basis for a wide array of future research such as the distribution modeling and predictions of range shifts under climate changes. It represents a unique example of a more than century-long dataset of distributional, ecological, and phenological data designed for an exceptionally rare but widespread boreal insect, which primarily occurs in hard-to-reach, uninhabited areas of Eurasia.

RESUMEN

The Elachistidae fauna of the Caucasus is outlined. A total of 47 species are listed, three of which remain unidentified to species level. Three species are described as new: Perittia prolixa sp. nov., Elachista candidella sp. nov. and E. suffusca sp. nov. The new species are diagnosed and illustrated with photographs of the adults and genitalia. Twenty-seven species and the genus Perittia Stainton are reported for the first time from Caucasus.

RESUMEN

The genus Atkinsonia Stainton, 1859 is reviewed in China. Eight species are recognized, including two new species: A. brevisaccula sp. nov. and A. parignipicta sp. nov.; A. clerodendronella Stainton, 1859 is newly recorded for China; two new combinations and one new synonymy are proposed: A. butalistis (Strand, 1917) comb. nov. from Oedematopoda, A. furcata (Wang, 2008) comb. nov. from Oedematopoda, and Oedematopoda jiyuanica Wang, 2008 syn. nov. of A. swetlanae Sinev, 1988. Photographs of adults and illustrations of genitalia are provided, along with a key to identifying the described Chinese species and a map to show their collecting localities.
