[About the estimation of non specific protective effect of vaccination against infections actual for military personnel].

Flue and other respiratory diseases morbidity of servicemen of training students are researched. Epidemiological and economic effectiveness of flue vaccine "Bakcuspun" (Vaksigrip) is estimated. Its non-specific protective effect in case of acute respiratory diseases and pyodermia is shown.

[About non-specific prophylaxis of infections typical for organized groups].

Respiratory tract infections and pyodermia are typical for personnel doing military service under conscription. Risk of progression of these infections is connected with activation of carry-over of causative agents among military personnel during replacement and decrease in immunity of conscripts. Usage of medication "Karmolis Kapli" for the purpose of prophylaxis allows to reduce cases of respiratory tract infections among the military personnel. Among the military servicemen who had take "Karmolis Kapli" was noted reduction of community-acquired pneumonia, tonsillitis and pyodermia morbidity. Non-specific protective effect of medication "Karmolis Kapli" is conditioned by increase of the common resistance of the body. For the purpose of prophylaxis it is necessary to use this medication during the personnel formation before the beginning of seasonal morbidity.

[Frequency and specific features of depressive disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus].

The aim of the work was to study the frequency of depressive conditions and their specific features in 200 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with reference to their quality of life. The patients were subjected to clinical and laboratory examination and interviewed to elucidate their awareness of the disease. The CES-D depression scale and SF-36 questionnaire were used for the purpose. Signs of depression were revealed in 43.5% of the patients. Occurrence of depression positively correlated with diabetic complications and negatively with patients' awareness and quality of life (especially its psychic component). The physical component deteriorated in patients with diabetic complications. The study showed high frequency of depression in DM2 patients and its negative influence on the physical and psychic component of their quality of life.

[The goals and possibilities of drug therapy in mastopathies (results of a questionnaire addressed to oncologists in various regions of Russia)]. / Zadachi i vozmozhnosti lekarstvennogo lecheniia i dispanserizatsii bol'nykh mastopatiei (rezul'taty oprosa onkologov raznykh regionov Rossii).

The results of a questionnaire-based investigation involving 126 oncologists who treat mastopathy are presented. The study failed to establish any significant decrease in breast cancer morbidity as a result of treating mastopathy by medication. It was found that the whole problem of treatment and follow-up of dibraodenoma mammae needs to be re-considered.

[Effect of intermittent normobaric hypoxic activity on the development of acute radiation disease]. / Vliianie preryvistogo normobaricheskogo gipoksicheskogo vozdeistviia na razvitie ostroi luchevoi bolezni.

The experiments on 260 male mice of colony SHK, 352 mongrel rats and 20 Wistar rats were carried out to study the ability of using the normobaric hypoxic stimulation method for acute radiation sickness. Hypoxic stimulation using gas mixture with 10% of oxygen and 90% of nitrogen was conducted for two weeks after irradiation for 30 min. every day. It is shown that under influence of ionizing radiation (7 and 5.5 Gy) the postradiation hypoxic action increased the 30-day survival rate of mice, reduced disturbances of the qualitative composition of leukocytes in peripheric blood, promoted more rapid restoration of thromboelastography indices and caused no reliable changes in the postradial content of albumin and creatinine in blood.

[Differential diagnosis of nipple discharge]. / Diagnosticheskaia taktika pri vedeleniiakh iz soska molochnoi zhelezy.

An analysis of results of contrast mammography in 42 women having spontaneous, persistent and unilateral discharge from the nipple of the breast of serous, serous-hemorrhagic and hemorrhagic character was made. The cause of the discharge was found to be intraductal papillomas and cystadenopapillomas in 55% of the cases, breast cancer--in 2% which were not diagnosed by noncontrast mammography.

[The effect of normobaric hypoxic stimulation on the aggregation properties of blood cells in an irradiated host]. / Vliianie normobaricheskoi gipoksicheskoi stimuliatsii na aggregatsionnye svoistva kletok krovi obluchennogo organizma.

The influence of a short-term intermittent stimulation by hypoxia on the aggregative properties of platelets and erythrocytes of irradiated body has been investigated. The results show a favourable effect of hypoxic stimulation on some platelet aggregation indices.

[Angiotensometry in peritoneo-anal resection of the rectum in cancer]. / Angiotenzometriia pri briushno-anal'noi rezektsii priamoi kishki po povodu raka.

Angiotensometry was used in 66 patients for assessing the viability of a large bowel transplant in the course of peritoneoanal resection of the rectum for cancer. The procedure assured reliable evaluation of intramural blood circulation in the segment of the colon transposed downwards. As a result, necrosis development in the colon was reduced to 10.4%.

The transilluminative occlusive angiotensometry was used for the determination of viability of the sutured segments of the colon in 93 intraabdominal resection for carcinoma. The use of angiotensometry has reduced the incompetence of anastomosis sutures in intraabdominal resections of the rectum and sigmoid colon from 13.6% to 8.6%.

The analysis of 78 questionnaires of patients with recurrence of rectal cancer was performed which revealed this complication of surgery to occur in 60% of cases within a year after operation. Recurrences of the rectum cancer show a characteristic complex of symptoms with a certain structure of painful sensations as a central criterion.

[Cesostoma in tumors of the large intestine and a method for its closure]. / Tsekostoma pri opukholiakh tolstoi kishki i metod ee zakrytiia.

Cecostomy is found to prevent effectively suture incompetency of entero-entero-anastomosis in intraabdominal resections in the large intestine in obese patients suffering diabetes and also in aged patients. The method of closing the cecostoma described may be also recommended for elimination of parietal fistulas constructed in other portions of the large intestine. Taking into account a simple technic of closure, using mechanic suture, the availability of suturing apparatuses in many hospitals, it may be recommended for a wide practical use.

[Results of treating the late complications of patients radically operated on for rectal cancer]. / Rezul'taty lecheniia pozdnikh oslozhnenii radikal'nogo operirovannykh bol'nykh rakom priamoi kishki.

Based on the study of the causes of rehospitalization of 323 patients. Previously operated upon for rectal cancer, it was found that 91 patients developed late postoperative complications, 96 - recurrences, 45 - distant metastases and 51 - metachronous tumors. Among surgical complications colostome strictures in the anal region (37), mucosa prolapse (26) and paracolonic fistulas (23) were most frequently observed. The analysis of treatment for tumor recurrences (96) and distant metastases (45) indicated that surgical excision seems to be mostly effective as a radical procedure. The effect of electrocoagulation in recurrences is somewhate inferior to surgery but still it is appreciable enough. The use of irradiation, chemotherapy, palliative operations fails to produce any appreciable effect on patients' lifeterms.

The complex diagnosis of early forms of cancer of the large intestine should comprise the knowledge of the clinical picture, analysis of the disease, the results of rectoromanoscopy, irrogoscopy, colonofibroscopy, and cytological diagnosis. The use of the mentioned technics would help to improve the diagnosis of early forms of colonic cancer.

[Biopsy in rectal cancer recurrences]. / Biopsiia pri retsidivakh raka priamoi kishki.

The design of a modified needle for trephine biopsy in rectal cancer recurrence in the perineal region is described. The needle design is simple and can be readily manufactured in a mechanic shop. The biopsy material obtained is large enough to type the tumor histologically. The technic of biopsy is not complicated and requires no special skill. Trephine-biopsy for rectal cancer recurrences may substitute completely knife biopsy, being a safe maneuvre in the complex diagnosis of rectal cancer recurrence.
