RESUMEN

This systematic review examines mental health in university students with disabilities, focusing on increasing prevalence and associated challenges. Following the PRISMA protocol for study selection and analysis, it aims to analyze problem prevalence and risk factors, explore support strategies and available resources, and identify gaps and areas for improvement in care and access to mental health services for disabled university students. This review includes 16 articles that met the established criteria. The findings reveal higher mental health issue prevalence in these students compared to non-disabled peers, highlighting the need for specific, tailored interventions. Improvement areas in general inclusion measures to prevent high-risk situations and intervention responses to discomfort and existing mental health problems are discussed. The importance of a holistic approach to ensure their overall well-being and academic success in an inclusive educational environment is emphasized.

There is a lack of psychometrically validated tools to evaluate the extent to which people with intellectual disability (ID) truly exercise their rights in all areas of their lives. The aim of this article is to provide evidence about the usefulness and reliability of the pilot version of the #Rights4MeToo Scale, an instrument based on the Quality of Life Supports Model. The scale can be self-reported by people with ID or hetero-reported by family members or professionals. First, through a qualitative study with self-advocates with ID, we provide evidence about the need and usefulness of this tool to understand and monitor compliance with the Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Next, we present preliminary data on the internal consistency of the items that make up the pilot version, analyzing the responses of 1,200 people with ID, family members, and professionals. The #Rights4MeToo Scale will make it possible to conduct national studies on compliance with the CRPD, not to mention international comparative studies when the scale is adapted to the legal and cultural context of other countries. Resulta urgente e ineludible contar con herramientas, con adecuadas evidencias de validez y fiabilidad, que permitan evaluar hasta qué punto las personas con discapacidad intelectual (DI) verdaderamente ejercen sus derechos en todos los ámbitos de su vida. El objetivo de este artículo consiste en proporcionar evidencias acerca de la utilidad y la fiabilidad de la versión preliminar de la escala #YoTambién Tengo Derechos, un instrumento diseñado a partir del Modelo de Calidad de Vida y Apoyos. La escala puede ser autoinformada por personas con DI o heteroinformada por familiares o profesionales. Por un lado, mediante un estudio cualitativo con autogestores con DI se proporcionan evidencias acerca de la necesidad y la utilidad de esta herramienta para conocer y monitorizar el cumplimiento de la Convención. Por otro lado, presentamos datos preliminares de la consistencia interna de los ítems, analizando las respuestas de 1.200 personas con DI, familiares y profesionales. La escala #YoTambién Tengo Derechos permitirá llevar a cabo estudios nacionales sobre el cumplimiento de la Convención sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad y, con su adaptación al contexto legal y cultural de otros países, estudios comparativos internacionales. There has been growing interest about gender identity and sexual orientation in people with autism spectrum disorder. This systematic review analyses 18 studies conducted since 2016 that met the inclusion criteria. The aim was to gather evidence of gender identity, gender dysphoria, and sexual orientation in the ASD population. The results indicate an increased prevalence of non-conforming gender identity and gender dysphoria in people with ASD. There was also evidence of greater prevalence of non-heterosexual orientation in people with ASD than people without ASD. These results were particularly found in women with ASD. However, more studies are needed, especially about women, children and adolescents, to ensure that there are suitable support and resources to meet the needs of this population. (AU)


En los últimos años ha surgido un creciente interés en relación con la identidad de género y la orientación sexual de las personas con trastorno del espectro del autismo (TEA). La presente revisión sistemática analiza un total de 18 estudios, publicados a partir de 2016, con la finalidad de obtener evidencias acerca de la identidad y disforia de género, y la orientación sexual en la población con TEA. Los resultados indicaron que existe una mayor prevalencia de identidad de género no conforme y de disforia de género en la población con TEA. Se encontró una mayor prevalencia de orientación no heterosexual en las personas con TEA en comparación con la población sin TEA. Estos resultados se encuentran preferentemente en las mujeres con TEA. No obstante, es necesario disponer de más y mejores evidencias sobre esta temática, especialmente en mujeres, y en las etapas de la niñez y la adolescencia, con el fin de implementar apoyos y recursos adecuados para dar respuesta a las necesidades de estas personas. The confinement experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a rethink of the teaching-learning process to which teachers have responded without planning and instead used their resources. This study aimed to analyze the relationships between work-family interactions, technostress, and perceived organizational support in teachers during the confinement period in Spain that began in March 2020. An online survey was administered to 640 pre-school, primary, and secondary school teachers. Positive reciprocal work-family interactions and their relationship with organizational support were found, with differences according to gender, with women showing a more negative perception of the impact on the family. There were no marked levels of technostress in the overall sample, although higher levels of perceived ineffectiveness and skepticism were found in teachers aged 46 years or older. Teachers in private and subsidized schools showed a higher level of perceived support than those in public schools. There is a need to continue this work to verify the values of these dimensions in other contexts and to apply institutional measures and public policies to improve these indicators in this group.

Although disasters threaten all people who experience them, they do not affect all members of society in the same way. Its effects are not solely restricted to the economic sphere; they also affect the physical and mental health of those who suffer from them, having a particular impact on women and limiting their life chances. The aim of this study was to examine the impact the 2010 Haiti earthquake had on the seropositivity of female survivors. METHOD: Using data from the Demographic and Health Survey, this study examines the impact of the 2010 Haiti earthquake on gender relations associated with the probability of being HIV positive through the differences-in-differences strategy. RESULTS: A differential of four percentage points is observed in the probability of HIV seropositivity between men and women, favoring men. Additionally, it is observed that the probability of seropositivity intensifies when the cohabitation household is headed by a woman. CONCLUSION: Disasters are not indifferent to the gender of the people affected. In the second decade of the 21st century, the conclusions obtained show, once again, the need for incorporating the gender perspective into the management of natural hazards in the field of health. This is the case of the differential exposure to HIV after the earthquake in Haiti.

BACKGROUND: While the negative impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on mental health have already been established in previous research, the pathways through which these events affect psychological well-being are still unclear. This cross-sectional study analyzed the relationship between ACEs and psychological distress. It also examined the role of coping strategies, emotion regulation, and adult attachment in this association. METHOD: The sample consisted of 207 women receiving psychotherapeutic support from Public Mental Health Services in Spain. Just under half (46.4%) being treated by clinical psychology services and just over half (53.1%) were also being treated by psychiatry services. Descriptive and association analysis were performed on the variables involved. RESULTS: 48.3% of participants reported four or more ACEs and the correlation with symptom severity was significant. Regression equations showed that four variables explained 56.2% of the variance: Fear of Rejection and Abandonment, Lack of Control, Rejection and Cognitive Restructuring. CONCLUSIONS: ACEs are directly associated with the severity of psychological distress. The data suggest that appropriate, sensitive exploration of these experiences can be therapeutic. The relationships between type of adversity, attachment relationships, emotion regulation, and coping strategies reveal indirect pathways through which ACEs affect women's mental health.
