RESUMEN

Low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN1) is an early stage of cervical cancer development. Previously, we reported that exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) increases the risk of cervical precancerous lesions, especially in females with a high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection. However, the effects of PAHs on CIN1 progression remain unclear. A community-based prospective cohort study was conducted to evaluate the role of exposure to PAHs in the progression of CIN1. A total of 564 patients diagnosed with CIN1 were followed-up at 6, 12, and 24 months, post-diagnosis, to determine CIN1 reversion, persistence, and progression. Exposure to PAHs was determined by the urine 1-hydroxipayrene (1-OHP) level. Our results showed that the 1-OHP level was significantly higher in patients with CIN1 persistence/progression than in those with reversion (P < .05). High exposure to PAHs increased the risk of CIN1 persistence/progression, with hazard ratios (HR), 95% confidence intervals (CI) of (1.62, 1.24-2.67), (1.98, 1.42-2.75), and (2.37, 1.61-3.49) at 6, 12, and 24 months, post-diagnosis, respectively. The effect was enhanced with HR-HPV positivity, as determined at 6 (1.82, 1.24-2.67), 12 (3.02, 1.74-5.23), and 24 (2.51, 1.48-4.26) months, post-diagnosis. Moreover, the predictive value of exposure to PAHs for CIN1 persistence/progression was higher in HR-HPV-positive patients than in HR-HPV-negative patients. The results revealed that exposure to PAHs facilitated the malignant progression of CIN1 and hindered its reversal, particularly in patients with HR-HPV infection. Our findings provide novel insights into early prevention and intervention targeting the initiation and progression of cervical neoplasia.

Long-term consumption of Western-style diet (WSD) can lead to metabolic disorders and dysbiosis of gut microbiota, presenting a critical risk factor for various chronic conditions such as fatty liver disease. In the present study, we investigated the beneficial role of co-fermented whole grain quinoa and black barley with Lactobacillus kisonensis on rats fed a WSD. Male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats, aged six weeks and weighing 180 ± 10 g, were randomly assigned to one of three groups: the normal control group (NC, n = 7), the WSD group (HF, n = 7), and the WSD supplemented with a co-fermented whole grain quinoa with black barley (FQB) intervention group (HFF, n = 7). The findings indicated that FQB was effective in suppressing body weight gain, mitigating hepatic steatosis, reducing perirenal fat accumulation, and ameliorating pathological damage in the livers and testicular tissues of rats. Additionally, FQB intervention led to decreased levels of serum uric acid (UA), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). These advantageous effects can be ascribed to the regulation of FQB on gut microbiota dysbiosis, which includes the restoration of intestinal flora diversity, reduction of the F/B ratio, and promotion of probiotics abundance, such as Akkermansia and [Ruminococcus] at the genus level. The study employed the UPLC-Q-TOF-MSE technique to analyze metabolites in fecal and hepatic samples. The findings revealed that FQB intervention led to a regression in the levels of specific metabolites in feces, including oxoadipic acid and 20a, 22b-dihydroxycholesterol, as well as in the liver, such as pyridoxamine, xanthine and xanthosine. The transcriptome sequencing of liver tissues revealed that FQB intervention modulated the mRNA expression of specific genes, including Cxcl12, Cidea, and Gck, known for their roles in anti-inflammatory and anti-insulin resistance mechanisms in the context of WSD. Our findings indicate that co-fermented whole-grain quinoa with black barley has the potential to alleviate metabolic disorders and chronic inflammation resulting from the consumption of WSD.

BACKGROUND: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging tick-borne infectious disease, and its morbidity and mortality are increasing. At present, there is no specific therapy available. An exacerbated IFN-I response and cytokine storm are related to the mortality of patients with SFTS. Ruxolitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) 1/2 inhibitor that can block proinflammatory cytokines and inhibit the type I IFN pathway. We aimed to explore the use of ruxolitinib plus standard of care for severe SFTS. METHODS: We conducted a prospective, single-arm study of severe SFTS. We recruited participants aged 18 years or older who were admitted to the hospital with laboratory-confirmed severe SFTS and whose clinical score exceeded 8 points within 6 days of symptom onset. Participants received oral ruxolitinib (10 mg twice a day) for up to 10 days. The primary endpoint was 28-day overall survival. The secondary endpoints included the proportion of participants who needed intensive care unit (ICU) admission, total cost, changes in neurologic symptoms and clinical laboratory parameters, and adverse events (AEs) within 28 days. A historical control group (HC group, n = 26) who met the upper criteria for inclusion and hospitalized from April 1, 2021, to September 16, 2022, was selected and 1:1 matched for baseline characteristics by propensity score matching. RESULTS: Between Sep 16, 2022, and Sep 16, 2023, 26 participants were recruited into the ruxolitinib treatment group (RUX group). The 28-day overall mortality was 7.7% in the RUX group and 46.2% in the HC group (P = 0.0017). There was a significantly lower proportion of ICU admissions (15.4% vs 65.4%, p < 0.001) and total hospitalization cost in the RUX group. Substantial improvements in neurologic symptoms, platelet counts, hyperferritinemia, and an absolute decrease in the serum SFTS viral load were observed in all surviving participants. Treatment-related adverse events were developed in 6 patients (23.2%) and worsened in 8 patients (30.8%), and no treatment-related serious adverse events were reported. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that ruxolitinib has the potential to increase the likelihood of survival as well as reduce the proportion of ICU hospitalization and being tolerated in severe SFTS. Staufen-1 (STAU1) is a double-stranded RNA-binding protein (RBP) involved in a variety of pathological conditions. In this study, we investigated the potential role of STAU1 in Alzheimer's disease (AD), in which two hallmarks are well-established as cerebral ß-amyloid protein (Aß) deposition and Tau-centered neurofibrillary tangles. We found that STAU1 protein level was significantly increased in cells that stably express full-length APP and the brain of APP/PS1 mice, an animal model of AD. STAU1 knockdown, as opposed to overexpression, significantly decreased the protein levels of ß-amyloid converting enzyme 1 (BACE1) and Aß. We further found that STAU1 extended the half-life of the BACE1 mRNA through binding to the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR). Transcriptome analysis revealed that STAU1 enhanced the expression of growth arrest and DNA damage 45 ß (GADD45B) upstream of P38 MAPK signaling, which contributed to STAU1-induced regulation of Tau phosphorylation at Ser396 and Thr181. Together, STAU1 promoted amyloidogenesis by inhibiting BACE1 mRNA decay, and augmented Tau phosphorylation through activating GADD45B in relation to P38 MAPK. Targeting STAU1 that acts on both amyloidogenesis and tauopathy may serve as an optimistic approach for AD treatment.

PURPOSE: Emerging evidence suggests that vaginal micro-environment disorder is closely related to the development of cervical lesions. Low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN1), as an early stage of cervical lesions, exhibits a high risk of progressing to high-grade lesions or even cervical cancer. However, the effect of vaginal micro-environment on the malignant prognosis of CIN1 remains uncertain. METHODS: A total of 504 patients diagnosed with CIN1 by pathology, who were from the population-based cohorts established in Shanxi Province, China, were enrolled and followed up for 2 years. Micro-environmental factors such as vaginal pH, cleanliness, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), ß-glucuronidase (GUSB), leucocyte esterase (LE), and sialidase (SNA) were detected to evaluate their effect on the malignant prognosis of CIN1. RESULTS: Abnormal vaginal pH (HR = 1.472, 95%CI 1.071-2.022), cleanliness (HR = 1.446, 95%CI 1.067-1.960), H2O2 (HR = 1.525, 95%CI 1.155-2.013), GUSB (HR = 1.739, 95%CI 1.235-2.448), LE (HR = 1.434, 95%CI 1.038-1.981), and SNA (HR = 1.411, 95%CI 1.065-1.870) could promote a higher incidence of CIN1 malignant prognosis, and the combined effects of these micro-environmental factors resulted in a nearly twofold increased risk (HR = 2.492, 95%CI 1.773-3.504) compared to any single factor alone, especially under the high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection. Notably, the cumulative incidence of malignant prognosis for CIN1 gradually increased during the early follow-up period, reaching its peak at approximately 8 months, and then stabilizing. CONCLUSION: Vaginal micro-environment disorder could promote CIN1 malignant prognosis, particularly in HR-HPV-infected women. Taking micro-environmental factors as the breakthrough, our study provides a feasible vision for preventing early stage cervical lesions.

Objective: As the number of children diagnosed with autism rises year by year, the issue of nurturing this particular group becomes increasingly salient. Parents of autistic children, as the nearest and most reliable caregivers for their children, shoulder immense psychological strain and accountability. They are compelled to confront an array of daily life challenges presented by their children, as well as endure multiple pressures such as societal scrutiny and financial burdens. Consequently, the mental health status of the parents is of utmost significance. Methods: In this study, questionnaire survey combined with literature analysis were applied. The rumination thinking scale and the social support scale were used to investigate the relationship between social support perceived by parents of autistic children and rumination. Meanwhile, the moderating effects of intervention on children with autism were also explored. It hopes that our research would provide a basis for alleviating psychological stress and improving the mental health levels of the parents. A total of 303 parents of children with autism were collected (including 160 females and 143 males). Corresponding data analyses were conducted using SPSS 26.0. Results: Parents of autistic children generally exhibited high levels of rumination, with significant gender differences. At the same time, the perceived social support by the parents significantly influenced their level of rumination. It showed that the higher the social support received by parents, the lower the level of rumination. More importantly, the extent of intervention received by the children had a regulating effect on rumination of their parents. Conclusion: The personalized psychological support programs should be developed based on the actual situation of parents, to better manage the challenges presented by raising a child with autism. Our findings would provide important theoretical underpinnings and practical guidance for psychological intervention efforts aimed at families of autistic children. Moreover, these findings offer novel insights for future research, with the potential to advance the field of mental health studies concerning parents of children with autism.

Background/objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate tumor progression and recurrence patterns of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) with or without transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) that meets Milan criteria. Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive HCC patients meeting Milan criteria who underwent percutaneous RFA with or without TACE as initial treatment at a tertiary academic center between December 2017 and 2022. Technical success rate, local recurrence-free survival (LRFS), progression-free survival (PFS) and recurrence patterns were recorded. Results: A total of 135 HCC patients (109 male [80.7%]) with a mean age of 62 years and 147 target lesions were retrospectively enrolled. The technical success rate was 99.3%. The median LRFS was 60 months, and the cumulative 1-, 3-, and 5-year LRFS were 88.9%, 70.1%, and 30.0%, respectively. Additionally, the median PFS was 23 months, with cumulative 1-, 3-, and 5-year PFS of 74%, 30%, and 0%, respectively. Multivariate analysis confirmed that age > 60, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) (> 10), and albumin were associated with PFS (2.34, p = 0.004; 1.96, p = 0.021; 0.94, p = 0.007, respectively). Six recurrence patterns were identified: local tumor progression (LTP) alone (n = 15, 25.0%), intrahepatic distant recurrence (IDR) alone (n = 34, 56.7%), extrahepatic recurrence (ER) alone (n = 2, 3.3%), IDR + ER (n = 2, 3.3%), LTP + IDR (n = 5, 8.8%), and LTP + IDR + ER (n = 2, 3.3%). IDR occurred most frequently as a sign of good local treatment. Conclusions: RFA in combination with TACE does not appear to provide an advantage over RFA alone in improving tumor progression in patients with HCC meeting the Milan criteria. However, further prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings and to determine the optimal treatment approach for this patient population.

This study aimed to compare the effects of pectin and hydrolyzed pectin coating as pre-frying treatments on acrylamide content and quality characteristics of fried potato chips. The hydrolyzed pectin with molecular weight (Mw) of 8.81 ± 0.49 kDa was obtained through partial degradation of pectin (Mw: 747.57 ± 6.73 kDa) using pectinase. Results showed that both pectin and hydrolyzed pectin coating significantly inhibited acrylamide formation and inhibition rates exceeded 90 %. Hydrolyzed pectin had stronger inhibitory activity against acrylamide formation than pectin, especially when the concentration of hydrolyzed pectin was >2 %, its inhibitory rate exceeded 95 %. Compared to pectin coating, hydrolyzed pectin coating endow fried potato chips with smaller browning, higher crispness, less moisture but higher oil content. Overall, hydrolyzed pectin had better application prospects than pectin in inhibiting acrylamide formation of fried potato chips.

Parasitic side reactions and dendrites formation hinder the application of aqueous zinc ion batteries due to inferior cycling life and low reversibility. Against this background, N-methyl formamide (NMF), a multi-function electrolyte additive is applied to enhance the electrochemical performance. Studied via advanced synchrotron radiation spectroscopy and DFT calculations, the NMF additive simultaneously modifies the Zn2+ solvation structure and ensures uniform zinc deposition, thus suppressing both parasitic side reactions and dendrite formation. More importantly, an ultralong cycling life of 3115 h in the Zn||Zn symmetric cell at a current density of 0.5 mA cm-2 is achieved with the NMF additive. Practically, the Zn||PANI full cell utilizing NMF electrolyte shows better rate and cycling performance compared to the pristine ZnSO4 aqueous electrolyte. This work provides useful insights for the development of high-performance aqueous metal batteries.

Sleep, locomotor and social activities are essential animal behaviors, but their reciprocal relationships and underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we elicit information from a cutting-edge large-language model (LLM), generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) 3.5, which interprets 10.2-13.8% of Drosophila genes known to regulate the 3 behaviors. We develop an instrument for simultaneous video tracking of multiple moving objects, and conduct a genome-wide screen. We have identified 758 fly genes that regulate sleep and activities, including mre11 which regulates sleep only in the presence of conspecifics, and NELF-B which regulates sleep regardless of whether conspecifics are present. Based on LLM-reasoning, an educated signal web is modeled for understanding of potential relationships between its components, presenting comprehensive molecular signatures that control sleep, locomotor and social activities. This LLM-aided strategy may also be helpful for addressing other complex scientific questions.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of banana intake during hemodialysis on serum potassium levels in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods: This study was a single-center, randomized controlled clinical trial conducted from September 15 to December 15, 2021, at a tertiary hospital in southern China. A total of 126 MHD patients were randomly assigned to either the intervention group (n = 64) or the control group (n = 62). Patients in the intervention group consumed approximately 250 g of bananas during hemodialysis, while those in the control group did not consume any food during hemodialysis. Demographic information and hemodialysis-related parameters were collected through case information collection before hemodialysis. Laboratory indicators (such as complete blood count, biochemical indicators, inflammation markers, liver function, kidney function, etc.) were evaluated by collecting pre-hemodialysis blood samples from patients. Serum potassium and blood glucose levels were measured at 2 h and 4 h of hemodialysis, as well as before the next hemodialysis session, and hemodialysis-related complications were recorded. The blood potassium and blood glucose indicators during hemodialysis were compared using repeated measures analysis. Results: A total of 122 MHD patients completed the study (61 in each group). The results showed that there was no significant interaction between group and time on serum potassium levels. However, serum potassium levels in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group at 2 h (3.9 ± 0.5 mmol/L vs. 3.6 ± 0.3 mmol/L, P < 0.01) and 4 h (3.5 ± 0.4 mmol/L vs. 3.3 ± 0.3 mmol/L, P < 0.01) of hemodialysis. There was no interaction between group and time on blood glucose levels. The incidence of arrhythmias (8.2% vs. 29.5%, P = 0.003) and hypokalemia (52.5% vs. 80.3%, P = 0.002) during hemodialysis was significantly lower in the intervention group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Consuming approximately 250 g of bananas at the start of hemodialysis does not lead to hyperkalemia. It can effectively reduce the incidence of hypokalemia and arrhythmias, and prevent a rapid decline in serum potassium levels during hemodialysis.

Triterpenoid saponins, a major bioactive component of liquorice, possess high hydrophilicity and often co-occur with other impurities of similar polarity. Additionally, subtle structural differences of some triterpenoid saponins bring challenges to comprehensive characterisation. In this study, triterpenoid saponins of three Glycyrrhiza species were systematically analysed using rapid resolution liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (RRLC-Q-TOF-MS) coupled with mass defect filtering (MDF). Firstly, comprehensive date acquisition was achieved using RRLC-Q-TOF-MS. Secondly, a polygonal MDF method was established by summarizing known and speculated substituents and modifications based on the core structure to rapidly screen potential triterpenoid saponins. Thirdly, based on the fragmentation patterns of reference compounds, an identification strategy for characterisation of triterpenoid saponins was proposed. The strategy divided triterpenoid saponins into three distinct classes. By this strategy, 98 triterpenoid saponins including 10 potential new ones were tentatively characterised. Finally, triterpenoid saponins of three Glycyrrhiza species were further analysed using principle component analysis (PCA) and orthogonality partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA). Among these, 18 compounds with variable importance in projections (VIP) > 1.0 and P values < 0.05 were selected to distinguish three Glycyrrhiza species. Overall, our study provided a reference for quality control and rational use of the three species.

As one of the potential catalysts, disordered solid solution alloys can offer a wealth of catalytic sites. However, accurately evaluating their activity localization structure and overall activity from each individual site remains a formidable challenge. Herein, an approach based on density functional theory and machine learning was used to obtain a large number of sites of the Pt-Ru alloy as the model multisite catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction. Subsequently, a series of statistical approaches were employed to unveil the relationship between the geometric structure and overall activity. Based on the radial frequency distribution of metal elements and the distribution of ΔGH, we have identified the surface and subsurface sites occupied by Pt and Ru, respectively, as the most active sites. Particularly, the concept of equivalent site ratio predicts that the overall activity is highest when the Ru content is 20-30%. Furthermore, a series of Pt-Ru alloys were synthesized to validate the proposed theory. This provides crucial insights into understanding the origin of catalytic activity in alloys and thus will better guide the rational development of targeted multisite catalysts.

Rational reusing the waste materials in spent batteries play a key role in the sustainable development for the future lithium-ion batteries. In this work, we propose an effective and facile solid-state-calcination strategy for the recycling and regeneration of the cathode materials in spent LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2 (NCM523) ternary lithium-ion batteries. By systemic physicochemical characterizations, the stoichiometry, phase purity and elemental composition of the regenerated material were deeply investigated. The electrochemical tests confirm that the material characteristics and performances got recovered after the regeneration process. The optimal material was proved to exhibit the excellent capacity with a discharge capacity of 147.9 mAh g-1 at 1 C and an outstanding capacity retention of 86% after 500 cycles at 1 C, which were comparable to those of commercial NCM materials.

Selenium nanospheres (SeNPs) show less toxicity and greater bioavailability than selenite salts. This research demonstrated the substantial tolerance and efficient conversion of Se(IV) into SeNPs by Lactiplantibacillus plantarum NML21. The bioreduction process of Se(IV) and the properties of SeNPs, including their morphology, particle size, and stability, were investigated with techniques including SEM, EDX, TEM, XPS, FT-IR, dynamic light scattering, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy. Under high selenium stress, certain cells displayed significant deformation and rupture, and released SeNPs as the main product of the bioreduction of Se(IV). These SeNPs were red, amorphous, zero-valent, and spherical, with an average diameter of 160 nm. Spectroscopic analysis highlighted that the functional groups of CO and CO are key to the bioreduction of Se(IV). The study suggested preliminary mechanisms for the bioreduction of Se(IV) and the formation and release of SeNPs by lactic acid bacteria. NML21 may therefore be a promising candidate for SeNPs synthesis.

The catalytic performance is determined by the electronic structure near the Fermi level. This study presents an effective and simple screening descriptor, i.e., the one-dimensional density of states (1D-DOS) fingerprint similarity, to identify potential catalysts for the sulfur reduction reaction (SRR) in lithium-sulfur batteries. The Δ1D-DOS in relation to the benchmark W2CS2 was calculated. This method effectively distinguishes and identifies 30 potential candidates for the SRR from 420 types of MXenes. Further analysis of the Gibbs free energy profiles reveals that MXene candidates exhibit promising thermodynamic properties for SRR, with the protocol achieving an accuracy rate exceeding 93%. Based on the crystal orbital Hamilton population (COHP) and differential charge analysis, it is confirmed that the Δ1D-DOS could effectively differentiate the interaction between MXenes and lithium polysulfide (LiPS) intermediates. This study underscores the importance of the electronic fingerprint in catalytic performance and thus may pave a new way for future high-throughput material screening for energy storage applications.

Background and Aim: An elevated triglyceride-glucose (TyG) level is associated with increased risk of mortality in patients with CAD. Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) has mechanistic links to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD) pathogenesis and is correlated with adverse outcomes. However, the incremental prognostic value of TMAO and TyG in the cohort of optical coherence tomography (OCT)-defined high-risk ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients is unknown. Methods: We studied 274 consecutive aged ≥18 years patients with evidence of STEMI and detected on pre-intervention OCT imaging of culprit lesions between March 2017 and March 2019. Outcomes: There were 22 (22.68%), 27 (27.84%), 26 (26.80%), and 22 (22.68%) patients in groups A-D, respectively. The baseline characteristics according to the level of TMAO and TyG showed that patients with higher level in both indicators were more likely to have higher triglycerides (p < 0.001), fasting glucose (p < 0.001) and higher incidence of diabetes (p = 0.008). The group with TMAO > median and TyG ≤ median was associated with higher rates of MACEs significantly (p = 0.009) in fully adjusted analyses. During a median follow-up of 2.027 years, 20 (20.6%) patients experienced MACEs. To evaluate the diagnostic value of the TyG index combined with TMAO, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for predicting MACEs after full adjustment was 0.815 (95% confidence interval, 0.723-0.887; sensitivity, 85.00%; specificity, 72.73%; cut-off level, 0.577). Among the group of patients with TMAO > median and TyG ≤ median, there was a significantly higher incidence of MACEs (p=0.033). A similar tendency was found in the cohort with hyperlipidemia (p=0.016) and diabetes mellitus (p=0.036). Conclusion: This study demonstrated the usefulness of combined measures of the TyG index and TMAO in enhancing risk stratification in STEMI patients with OCT-defined high-risk plaque characteristics. Objective: To investigate the mechanism through which Astragalus and Panax notoginseng decoction (APD) facilitates the treatment of ferroptosis-mediated pulmonary fibrosis. Materials and Methods: First, the electromedical measurement systems were used to measure respiratory function in mice; the lungs were then collected for histological staining. Potential pharmacologic targets were predicted via network pharmacology. Finally, tests including immunohistochemistry, reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and western blotting were used to evaluate the relative expression levels of collagen, transforming growth factor ß, α-smooth muscle actin, hydroxyproline, and ferroptosis-related genes (GPX4, SLC7A11, ACSL4, and PTGS2) and candidates involved in the mediation of pathways associated with ferroptosis (Hif-1α and EGFR). Results: APD prevented the occurrence of restrictive ventilation dysfunction induced by ferroptosis. Extracellular matrix and collagen fiber deposition were significantly reduced when the APD group compared with the model group; furthermore, ferroptosis was attenuated, expression of PTGS2 and ACSL4 increased, and expression of GPX4 and SLC7A11 decreased. In the APD group, the candidates related to the mediation of ferroptosis (Hif-1α and EGFR) decreased compared with the model group. Discussion and Conclusions. APD may ameliorate restrictive ventilatory dysfunction through the inhibition of ferroptosis. This was achieved through the attenuation of collagen deposition and inflammatory recruitment in pulmonary fibrosis. The underlying mechanisms might involve Hif-1α and EGFR.

PURPOSE: To identify the predictors of infectious disease-specific health literacy (IDSHL), and establish an easy-to-apply nomogram to predict the IDSHL of older adults. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 380 older adults who completed the IDSHL, self-rated health, sociodemographic and other questionnaires. Logistic regression was used to identify the IDSHL predictors. Nomogram was used to construct a predictive model. RESULTS: Up to 70.1% of older adults had limited IDSHL. Age, education, place of residence, self-rated health, and Internet access were the important influencing factors of IDSHL. The established nomogram model showed high accuracy (receiver operating characteristic curve: 0.848). CONCLUSIONS: The IDSHL of Chinese older adults was significantly deficient. The constructed nomogram is an intuitive tool for IDSHL prediction that can not only contribute towards rapid screening of high-risk older adults with limited IDSHL but also provide guidance for healthcare providers to develop prevention strategies for infectious diseases.
