BACKGROUND: Conventional PET/CT imaging reconstruction is typically performed using voxel size of 3.0-4.0 mm in three axes. It is hypothesized that a smaller voxel sizes could improve the accuracy of small lesion detection. This study aims to explore the advantages and conditions of small voxel imaging on clinical application. METHODS: Both NEMA IQ phantom and 30 patients with an injected dose of 3.7 MBq/kg were scanned using a total-body PET/CT (uEXPLORER). Images were reconstructed using matrices of 192 × 192, 512 × 512, and 1024 × 1024 with scanning duration of 3 min, 5 min, 8 min, and 10 min, respectively. RESULTS: In the phantom study, the contrast recovery coefficient reached the maximum in matrix group of 512 × 512, and background variability increased as voxel size decreased. In the clinical study, SUVmax, SD, and TLR increased, while SNR decreased as the voxel size decreased. When the scanning duration increased, SNR increased, while SUVmax, SD, and TLR decreased. The SUVmean was more reluctant to the changes in imaging matrix and scanning duration. The mean subjective scores for all 512 × 512 groups and 1024 × 1024 groups (scanning duration ≥ 8 min) were over three points. One false-positive lesion was found in groups of 512 × 512 with scanning duration of 3 min, 1024 × 1024 with 3 min and 5 min, respectively. Meanwhile, the false-negative lesions found in group of 192 × 192 with duration of 3 min and 5 min, 512 × 512 with 3 min and 1024 × 1024 with 3 min and 5 min were 5, 4, 1, 4, and 1, respectively. The reconstruction time and storage space occupation were significantly increased as the imaging matrix increased. CONCLUSIONS: PET/CT imaging with smaller voxel can improve SUVmax and TLR of lesions, which is advantageous for the diagnosis of small or hypometabolic lesions if with sufficient counts. With an 18F-FDG injection dose of 3.7 MBq/kg, uEXPLORER PET/CT imaging using matrix of 512 × 512 with 5 min or 1024 × 1024 with 8 min can meet the image requirements for clinical use.

Background: The value of ultra-low-activity 2-[18F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in patients with hepatic malignancies remains unclear. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from April 2019 to May 2021 in Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. A total of 49 patients with hepatic malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (n=13) or intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) (n=36), underwent 60-min dynamic PET imaging, with 15 undergoing full-activity 18F-FDG and 34 undergoing ultra-low-activity 18F-FDG. The kinetic metrics (K1-k3, and Ki) of tumors were calculated and compared between the activity groups. Another 54 patients (27 each group) with hepatic malignancies, including HCC (n=9), ICC (n=34), and metastases (n=11), underwent static imaging. Image qualities were compared between the groups in terms of 5-point Likert scores (with a score ≥3 fulfilling the clinical requirement), the mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), the standard deviation of standardized uptake value (SUVSD), and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the liver; the SUVmean of blood pool and muscle; and the tumor-to-liver ratio (TLR), tumor-to-blood ratio (TBR), and tumor-to-muscle ratio (TMR) of lesions. Intergroup comparisons were performed using Chi-squared test for categorical variables and the Student's t-test or the Mann-Whitney test for continuous variables depending on the normality of variables. Results: There was a nonsignificant difference in the kinetic metrics (K1-k3 and Ki) of tumors between the activity groups. In static imaging, 1-min full-activity (F1) and 8-min ultra-low-activity (L8) images obtained image-quality scores >3 and were thus selected for intergroup comparisons. Nonsignificant differences in SUVmean of liver, blood pool, and muscle were identified between F1 and L8 images (P=0.641, P=0.542, and P=0.073, respectively) although the liver SNR was slightly higher in F1 (13.10 vs. 11.31; P=0.003). Lesion detectability was 98.5% and 100% for F1 and L8 images, respectively, but there were no significant differences in TLR, TBR, or TMR between the groups. Conclusions: The results of this single-center study indicate that the performance of ultra-low-activity PET imaging is comparable to that of full-activity imaging in patients with hepatic malignancies.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of the volume and time of hydration on the quantification of healthy tissue uptake for 2-deoxy-2-[18F]-fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) total-body positron emission tomography (PET)-computed tomography (CT) with half-dose activity. Methods: This study prospectively enrolled 180 patients who underwent a total-body PET-CT scan 10 min after injection of a half-dose (1.85 MBq/kg) of 18F-FDG. These patients were placed in hydration groups (30 patients in each group) according to different hydration volumes and times: oral hydration with 500 mL of water 20 min before (G1), 5 min after (G2), and 30 min after (G3) the 18F-FDG injection; and oral hydration with 200 mL of water 20 min before (G4), 5 min after (G5), and 30 min after (G6) the 18F-FDG injection. Another 30 patients underwent dynamic imaging without hydration and were used a nonhydration group. The analysis of quantification of healthy tissue uptake included the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and the mean SUV (SUVmean) of the blood pool and muscle, as well as the SUVmax, SUVmean, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the liver. Results: The SUVmax of the blood pool (2.33±0.36), liver (3.03±0.42), and muscle (0.81±0.15) was significantly higher in the nonhydration group than in any of the 6 hydrated groups (P<0.05 for all hydration groups vs. nonhydration group). Muscle SUVmax and SUVmean were significantly (P<0.05) lower in G1 and G2 than in G3 and were lower in G4 and G5 than in G6. The SUVmax and SUVmean of the blood pool were significantly (P<0.05) lower in G1 than in G3 and G4 and lower in G3 than in G6. Conclusions: When total-body PET-CT with a half dose of 18F-FDG activity is performed, hydration can significantly affect the quantification of healthy tissue uptake. Oral administration of 500 mL of water 20 min before injection could reduce background radioactivity.

OBJECTIVES: Validation of [18F]FDG PET/CT at ultralow-dose (0.37 MBq/kg) and compared to imaging at half-dose (1.85 MBq/kg). METHODS: This prospective head-to-head intraindividual study compared dynamic and static parameters of ultralow-dose with half-dose [18F]FDG total-body PET/CT. In static imaging, the ultralow-dose groups of PET images were denoted ULD5, 60-65 min; ULD8, 60-68 min; ULD10, 60-70 min; and ULD15, 60-75 min. The half-dose group images were reconstructed to 60-61, 60-62, 60-63, and 60-75 min, defined as LD1, LD2, LD3, and LD15, respectively. A 5-point Likert scale was used to subjectively evaluate the quality of static PET images, with a score greater than 3 considered to meet the requirements for clinical diagnosis. RESULTS: Thirty participants were included in this study, and in terms of kinetic indicators, no special differences were found between the two groups of normal organs and lesions. In static images, those in groups ULD8 and LD2 achieved scores of [Formula: see text] 3.0, meeting the requirements for clinical diagnosis. In static imaging, four lesions were missed in the LD1 group with a lesion detectability of 89.7% (35/39). In the meantime, lesions were not missed in the whole ultra-low dose group (ULD5, ULD8, ULD10, and ULD15) and half-dose groups (LD2 and LD3). CONCLUSIONS: Compared with half-dose imaging, ultralow-dose [18F]FDG total-body PET/CT imaging is clinically feasible, and there was no meaningful difference between the two groups of quantitative and qualitative analysis either dynamic or static images. Total-body PET/CT with ultralow-dose activity, the corresponding acquisition time of 8 min provides acceptable image quality and lesion detection. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: ChiCTR2000036487 KEY POINTS: • A prospective single-center study showed that the total-body PET scanner allows ultralow-dose [18F]FDG imaging with acceptable image quality and lesion detectability. • For the participant, radiation exposure can be reduced with ultralow-dose [18F]FDG total-body PET/CT imaging.

BACKGROUND: The injection activity of tracer, acquisition time, patient-specific photon attenuation, and large body mass, can influence on image quality. Fixed acquisition time and body mass related injection activity in clinical practice results in a large difference in image quality. Thus, this study proposes a patient-specific acquisition time regimen of 68 Ga-DOTATATE total-body positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) to counteract the influence of body mass (BM, kg) on image quality, and acquire an acceptable and constant image of patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). METHODS: The development cohort consisting of 19 consecutive patients with full activity (88.7-204.9 MBq, 2.0 ± 0.1 MBq/kg) was to establish the acquisition time regimen. The liver SNR (signal-to-noise ratio, SNRL) was normalized (SNRnorm) by the product of injected activity (MBq) and acquisition time (min). Fitting of SNRnorm against body mass (BM, kg) in linear correlation was performed. Subjective assessment of image quality was performed using a 5-point Likert scale to determine the acceptable threshold of SNRL, and an optimized acquisition regimen based on BM was proposed, and validated its feasibility through the validation cohort of 57 consecutive NET patients with half activity (66.9 ± 11.3 MBq, 1.0 ± 0.1 MBq/kg) and a fixed acquisition time regimen. RESULTS: The linear correlation (R2 = 0.63) between SNRnorm and BM (kg) was SNRnorm = -0.01*BM + 1.50. The threshold SNRL of acceptable image quality was 11.2. The patient-specific variable acquisition time regimen was determined as: t (min) = 125.4/(injective activity)*(-0.01*BM + 1.50)2. Based on that proposed regimen, the average acquisition time for acceptable image quality in the validation cohort was 2.99 ± 0.91 min, ranging from 2.18 to 6.35 min, which was reduced by 36.50% ~ 78.20% compared with the fixed acquisition time of 10 min. Subjective evaluation showed that acceptable image quality could be obtained at 3.00 min in the validation group, with an average subjective score of 3.44 ± 0.53 (kappa = 0.97, 95% CI: 0.96 ~ 0.98). Bland-Altman analysis revealed good agreement between the proposed regimen and the fixed acquisition time cohort. CONCLUSION: A patient-specific acquisition time regimen was proposed in NET patients in development cohort and validated its feasibility in patients with NETs in validation cohort by 68 Ga-DOTATATE total-body PET/CT imaging. Based on the proposed regimen, the homogenous image quality with optimal acquisition time was available independent of body mass.

BACKGROUND: The present study aimed to explore the boundary of acquisition time and propose an optimized acquisition time range for total-body positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) oncological imaging using half-dose (1.85 MBq/kg) 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose activity based on diagnostic needs. METHODS: In this retrospective study based on a total-body PET system (uEXPLORER), an exploration cohort (October 2019-December 2019) of 46 oncology patients was first studied. The acquisition time for all patients was 15 min, and the acquired images were reconstructed and further split into 15-, 8-, 5-, 3-, 2-, and 1-min duration groups (abbreviated as G15, G8, G5, G3, G2, and G1). The image quality and lesion detectability of reconstructed PET images with different acquisition times were evaluated subjectively (5-point scale, lesion detection rate) and objectively (standardized uptake values, tumor-to-background ratio). In the same way, the initial optimized acquisition times were further validated in a cohort of 147 oncology patients (December 2019-June 2021) by using the Gs images (the images obtained using the 15- and 10-min acquisition times) as controls. RESULTS: In the exploration cohort, the subjective scores for G1, G2, G3, G5, and G8 images were 2.0 ± 0.2, 2.9 ± 0.3, 3.0 ± 0.0, 3.9 ± 0.2, and 4.2 ± 0.4, respectively. Two cases in G1 were rated as 1 point. No significant difference in scores was observed between G5 and G8 (p > 0.99). In general, groups with a longer acquisition time showed lower background uptake and lesion conspicuity. Compared with G15, lesion detection rate significantly reduced to 85.3% in G1 (p < 0.05). In the validation cohort, the subjective score was 3.0 ± 0.2 for G2, 3.0 ± 0.1 for G3, 3.6 ± 0.5 for G5, 4.0 ± 0.3 for G8, and 4.4 ± 0.5 for Gs. Only the scores between G2 and G3 were not significantly different (p > 0.99). The detection rates (204 lesions) significantly reduced to 94.1-90.2% in G3 and G2 (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: A 2-min acquisition time provided acceptable performance in certain groups and specific medical situations. And protocols with acquisition times ≥ 5 min could provide comparable lesion detectability as regular protocols, showing better compatibility and feasibility with clinical practice.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate image quality and lesion detectability of half-dose (1.85 MBq/kg) 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) total-body positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for colorectal cancer, full-dose (3.7 MBq/kg) 18 F-FDG serving as a reference. METHODS: Fifty patients confirmed to have colorectal cancer who underwent total-body PET/CT with half-dose 18 F-FDG were included. Another 50 colorectal cancer patients with 3.70 MBq/kg 18 F-FDG activity were selected for the full-dose group. PET images in the half-dose group were scanned for 15 min and split into 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 10-min duration groups, denoted G1, G2, G3, G4 and G10, respectively. In the full-dose group, PET scanning was performed for 5 min, reconstructed with the first 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 min intervals, defined as G0.5', G1', G2' and G5', respectively. Subjective image quality was assessed with 5-point Likert scales. Objective image quality parameters included maximum standardized uptake values (SUV max) , mean standardized uptake values (SUV mean )and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the liver, blood pool and muscle and SUV max and tumor-to-background ratio (TBR) of lesions. RESULTS: In the two groups, the G3 and G2' images met clinical diagnosis requirements in terms of subjective image quality, with scores ≥3. There were no differences in terms of subjective and objective image quality between the groups (G1 and G0.5', G2 and G1', G4 and G2' and G10 and G5'). In the half-dose group, 56 colorectal lesions in 50 patients confirmed by surgical pathology were clearly visible in all groups. The number of FDG-avid lymph nodes was 37 in G1, 38 in G2 and 39 in the remaining half-dose groups. The number of missed metastatic liver lesions was 1 both in G1 and G2. CONCLUSIONS: Total-body PET/CT with half-dose was feasible for diagnosing and staging colorectal cancer compared with full-dose 18 F-FDG PET/CT. Moreover, for half-dose total-body PET/CT, a 3-min scan duration could maintain image quality and lesion detectability.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the image quality and diagnostic performance of different reconstructions over a wide range of patient body mass indices (BMIs) obtained by total-body PET/CT with ultra-low 18F-FDG activity (0.37 MBq/kg). METHODS: A total of 63 patients who underwent total-body PET/CT with ultra-low activity (0.37 MBq/kg) 18F-FDG were enrolled. Patients were grouped by their BMIs. Images were reconstructed with the following two algorithms: the ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM) algorithm (2, 3 iterations), both with time of flight (TOF) and point spread function (PSF) corrections (hereinafter referred as OSEM2, OSEM3) and HYPER Iterative algorithm (ß-values of 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6) embedded TOF and PSF technologies (hereinafter referred as HYPER0.3, HYPER0.4, HYPER0.5 and HYPER0.6, respectively). Subjective image quality was assessed by two experienced nuclear medicine physicians according to the Likert quintile, including overall image quality, image noise and lesion conspicuity. The standard deviation (SD) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the liver, and maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax), peak standard uptake value (SUVpeak), tumour background ratio (T/N) and the largest diameter of lesions were quantitatively analysed by a third reader who did not participate in the subjective image assessment. RESULTS: Increased noise was associated with increased BMI in all reconstruction groups. Significant differences occurred in the liver SNR among BMI categories of OSEM reconstructions (P < 0.001) but no difference was seen in the HYPER Iterative reconstructions between any of the BMI categories (P > 0.05). With the increase in BMI, overall image quality and image noise scores decreased significantly in all reconstructions, but there was no statistically significant difference of lesion conspicuity. The overall image quality score of the obese group was not qualified (score = 2.7) in OSEM3, while the others were qualified. The lesion conspicuity scores were significantly higher in HYPER Iterative reconstructions and lower in OSEM2 than in OSEM3 (all P < 0.05). The values of SUVmax, SUVpeak and T/N in HYPER0.3, HYPER0.4 and HYPER0.5 were higher than those in OSEM3. In different reconstructions, there was a correlation between lesion size (median, 1.55 cm; range, 0.7-11.0 cm) and SUVpeak variation rate compared to OSEM3 (r = 0.388, - 0.515, - 0.495, - 0.464, and - 0.423, respectively, and all P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Considering the image quality and lesion analysis in 18F-FDG total-body PET/CT with ultra-low activity injection, OSEM reconstructions with 3 iterations meet the clinical requirements in patients with BMI < 30. In patients with BMI ≥ 30, it is recommended that the HYPER Iterative algorithm (ß-value of 0.3-0.5) be used to ensure consistent visual image quality and quantitative assessment.

PURPOSE: This study was to evaluate the effects of an ultra-low dose of [18F]-FDG on the image quality of total-body PET/CT and its lesion detectability in colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS: Sixty-two CRC patients who underwent total-body PET/CT (uEXPLORER, United Imaging Healthcare, Shanghai, China) with an ultra-low dose (0.37 MBq/kg) of [18F]-FDG were enrolled in this retrospective study. The PET images were reconstructed with the entire 15-min dataset first and then split into 13-, 8-, 5-, 4-, 3-, 2-, and 1-min duration groups to simulate fast scanning images. For simplicity, the images reconstructed with the data from 15 to 1 min were referred to as G15, G13, and so on until G1. Subjective image quality was assessed with 5-point Likert scales. The objective image quality parameters included the SUVmax, SUVmean, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the liver and blood pool and the SUVmax and tumor-to-background ratio (TBR) of the lesions. G15 served as the control to evaluate lesion detectability. RESULTS: A total of 62 patients (43 men, 19 women; age 41-88, mean ± SD 64.0 ± 10.9 years) with 64 CRC primary tumor lesions and 10 low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (LGIN) lesions were enrolled in this study. The subjective scores were highest for G15 (4.5 ± 0.5) and then decreased from G13 (4.3 ± 0.4) to G8 (3.7 ± 0.5). The liver SNR increased with the extension of acquisition time from G8 (17.2 ± 2.8) to G13 (20.6 ± 3.4) and G15 (21.9 ± 3.4). The liver SNR of G8 was not significantly different from that of G13 (p = 0.15) and was significantly different from that of G15 (p = 0.001). All 64 CRC lesions could be identified in all image groups, even on G1. One of ten LGINs was missed on G1, G2, and G3, and one LGIN was missed on G1, G2, G3, and G4. G15 served as the control, and 100% (48/48) lymph nodes could be found on G13 and G8 compared to 93.8% (45/48) lymph nodes on G5 and G4, 85.4% (41/48) lymph nodes on G3, 81.3% (39/48) lymph nodes on G2, and 77.1% (37/48) lymph nodes on G1. For liver metastases, there were no missed liver lesions on G13 and G8 and 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9 missed liver lesions on G5, G4, G3, G2, and G1, respectively. For other areas of metastasis, including the lung, peritoneum, and ovaries, there were no missed lesions in any group. CONCLUSIONS: Total-body PET/CT with an ultra-low dose of [18F]-FDG can maintain satisfactory image quality and lesion detectability in CRC.

In this paper, surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors containing porous graphene/PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) molecularly imprinted sensitive membrane for DMMP gas detection were investigated. A 433 MHz ST-cut quartz SAW resonator was used to convert gas concentration changes into frequency shifts by the sensors. The porous graphene/PVDF film was fabricated on the sensor's surface by using the tape-casting method. DMMP molecules were adsorbed on the porous structure sensing film prepared by the 2-step method to achieve the specific recognition effect. The sensitivity of the sensor could reach -1.407 kHz·ppm-1. The response time and recovery time of the SAW sensor with porous graphene/PVDF sensing membrane were about 4.5 s and 5.8 s at the concentration of 10 ppm, respectively. The sensor has good anti-interference ability to most gases in the air.

PURPOSE: PET image quality is influenced by the patient size according to the current guideline. The study aimed to propose an optimized dose regimen to yield a constant image quality independent of patient habitus to meet the clinical needs. METHODS: A first patient cohort of 78 consecutive oncological patients (59.7 ± 13.7 years) who underwent a total-body PET/CT scan were retrospectively enrolled to develop the regimen. The patients were randomly distributed in four body mass index (BMI) groups according to the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. The liver SNR (signal-to-noise ratio, SNRL) was obtained by manually drawing regions of interest (ROIs) and normalized (SNRnorm) by the product of injected activity and acquisition time. Fits of SNRnorm against different patient-dependent parameters were performed to determine the best correlating parameter and fit method. A qualitative assessment on image quality was performed using a 5-point Likert scale to determine the acceptable threshold of SNRL. Thus, an optimized regimen was proposed and validated by a second patient cohort consisted of prospectively enrolled 38 oncological patients. RESULTS: The linear fit showed SNRnorm had the strongest correlation (R2 = 0.69) with the BMI than other patient-dependent parameters and fit method. The qualitative assessment indicated a SNRL value of 14.0 as an acceptable threshold to achieve sufficient image quality. The optimized dose regimen was determined as a quadratic relation with BMI: injected activity (MBq) = 39.2 (MBq)/(- 0.03*BMI + 1.49)2. In the validation study, the SNRL no longer decreased with the increase of BMI. There was no significant difference of the image quality regarding the value of SNRL between different BMI groups (p > 0.05). In addition, the injected activity was reduced by 75.6 ± 2.9%, 72.1 ± 4.0%, 67.1 ± 4.4%, and 64.8 ± 3.5% compared with the first cohort for the four BMI groups, respectively. CONCLUSION: The study proposed a quadratic relation between the 18F-FDG injected activity and the patient's BMI for total-body 18F-FDG PET imaging. In this regimen, the image quality can maintain in a constant level independent of patient habitus and meet the clinical requirement with a reduced injected activity.

PURPOSE: The purpose was to explore the effects of total-body PET/CT with half-dose 18F-FDG activity on image quality, compared with those of conventional PET/CT with clinical routine full-dose 18F-FDG in lung cancer. METHODS: Fifty-six primary lung cancer patients who underwent total-body PET/CT on a uEXPLORER scanner with half-dose (1.85 MBq/kg) 18F-FDG activity before treatment were retrospectively studied; among them, 28 patients were confirmed by postoperative pathologic examination and 28 patients by biopsy. After matching with the pathological study results, the other 28 patients with lung cancer who underwent surgery were selected for the full-dose (3.70 MBq/kg) group. Patients in the full-dose group were studied with a conventional uM780 PET/CT scanner. The acquisition time of the half-dose group was 15 min, split into 4-min and 2-min duration groups, which were all referred to as G15, G4 and G2, respectively. The PET/CT scanning speed in the full-dose group was 2 min/bed. Image quality was evaluated by subjective and objective analyses. The subjective analysis method was carried out with a 5-point scale (5-excellent, 1-poor). Objective analysis indicators of PET image quality included the SUVmax, SUVmean and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the liver; the SUVmax and SUVmean of the blood pool; and the SUVmax and tumour-to-background ratio (TBR) of the lesions. G15 served as the reference for G2 and G4 to test lesion detectability. RESULTS: Image quality scores in G2 (4.3 ± 0.7) were significantly higher than those in the full-dose group (3.7 ± 0.6) (p = 0.004). The mean and SD of the image quality scores in G4 and G15 were 4.9 ± 0.2 and 5.0 ± 0.0, respectively. The liver SNR in G2 was significantly higher than that in the full-dose group; the corresponding SNR were 11.7 ± 1.5 and 8.3 ± 1.2 (p < 0.001), respectively. The liver SNR significantly increased with the time of acquisition among G2, G4 and G15 (11.1 ± 1.7, 15.2 ± 3.4 and 30.5 ± 6.0, all p < 0.05). G15 served as the reference, and all these lesions (100%) could be identified by G2 and G4. CONCLUSION: Total-body PET/CT with half-dose 18F-FDG activity in G2 and G4 achieved comparable image quality to conventional PET/CT, and its image quality was better than that of conventional PET/CT with clinical routine full-dose 18F-FDG in lung cancer.

"The initial experience of using total-body PET/computed tomography (CT) (uExplorer) in Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, is described. Compared with conventional PET/CT, total-body PET/CT imaging provides more comprehensive information for evaluation of disease. Using fludeoxyglucose F 18, regular-dose (3.7 MBq/kg), low-dose (1.85 MBq/kg), or extra low-dose (0.37 MBq/kg) scanning, as well as high-quality imaging, protocols were used in clinical practice according to the situation. Dynamic studies were also used to assess tumor biological characteristics or for radiotracer angiography."

RESUMEN

A 64-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a history of recurrent fever lasting 2 months. The initial physical examination for the patient showed normal cutaneous signs. An elevated uptake of tracer in skeletal muscles was observed by F-FDG PET/CT imaging. Three weeks later, a multitude of painful erythematous maculopapules appeared over his face, chest, and back. Pathological examination of a skin lesion showed papillary dermal edema with predominantly dense neutrophilic infiltrate in the dermis with no evidence of vasculitis, which was consistent with Sweet's syndrome.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the current status of disabled children and prevalence of disabilities in children aged 0-6 years and their risk factors, and to provide scientific evidence for making relevant policies for disabled children. METHODS: In a community-based cross-sectional study, multi-phase, stratified, unequal proportional and cluster sampling was adopted to survey 60 124 children aged 0-6 years. All the investigated children were screened for disabilities, and those with positive screening tests were further diagnosed by various specialties. RESULTS: A total of 819 children were diagnosed as disabled with an overall prevalence of 1.362%, 0.155% for hearing disability, 0.160% for visual disability, 0.931% for intelligent disability, 0.424% for limb disability, and 0.101% for mental disability. Prevalence of disability in children was higher in rural areas, and in families with two or more children, low educational level or in divorced families. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of disability can be reduced by economic development, improvement of health care and quality of population, as well as harmonious familial relationship, early prevention of disability, and preschool education for disabled children.
