RESUMEN

Introduction: The quick pace of technological advancement and urbanization has led to a significant increase in waste production, severely damaging environmental quality and human health. The sorting of waste is a viable option to reduce environmental hazards and attain high recovery rates in the cities. This research extended the theory of planned behavior (TPB) by integrating information publicity (IP) and moral norms (MNs). Methods: A conceptual model has been developed to explore the predictors of waste-sorting intention of households. The data from 361 Pakistani households have been collected using the purposive sampling method and analyzed via PLS-SEM. Results and discussion: The study's results revealed that IP is important in creating awareness and establishing moral norms regarding waste sorting among households. The findings further confirm that MN, attitude (ATD), subjective norms (SNs), and perceived behavioral control (PBC) sequentially mediate between IP and WSI. The findings of the current study provides useful practical implications to the practitioners and academicians to combat environmental pollution.

RESUMEN

Organic food has gained much importance due to consumers' rising environmental and health concerns. Purchase intention of organic food has been explored widely, but the repurchase intention of organic food has gained little attention among researchers. So, it has become important to explore repurchase intention among generation Z; a generation considered more educated and aware of rising environmental concerns. Generation Z is more tech-savvy and brand conscious, so its impact on repurchase intention through consumer satisfaction has been explored. The data in this paper was collected from 400 respondents through a structured questionnaire in Islamabad, Pakistan. We used the PLS-SEM approach for data analysis and results; we found that social media influence and brand purchase impact brand awareness and positively impact brand awareness on consumer satisfaction. Moreover, it is also found that consumer satisfaction positively impacts the repurchase intention of organic food. Our study found that Generation Z has a strong social media influence, so marketers' managers must consider and address the issues when consumers consider social media for their concerns and suggestion.

RESUMEN

Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) in sharing economy platforms supports resource management and achieves environmental sustainability. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an essential pillar of sustainability, but the link between CSR and SSCM has been missing in the literature. Therefore, the current study intends to examine the connection between CSR and SSCM practices in sharing economy-based platforms. This study has applied the means-end theory to understand customer intention in the sharing economy. The data of 379 respondents from five main cities of Pakistan have been collected through convenience sampling. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) has been used to test the proposed conceptual model. The study results show that the corporate social responsibility approach adopted by the sharing economy platforms improves internal supply chain management that drives customers' intention to use sharing economy platforms. Green concern has a significant moderating effect on customers' tendency toward environmental issues and solutions. However, findings revealed that eco-design in the sustainable supply chain does not affect customer purchase intention in sharing economy platforms. The study findings provide practical implications to organizations focusing on sustainable supply chain management practices in the sharing economy.

RESUMEN

This study used a 2 × 2 experimental design to explore the effects of message type (non-narrative vs. narrative information) and social media metrics (high vs. low numbers of plays) of low-carbon-themed social media short videos on people's willingness to protect the environment. Subjects completed questionnaires after viewing short videos that contained different message types and social media metrics, and a final sample of 295 cases was included in the data analysis. The study found that, while the type of information (i.e., non-narrative or narrative) of the low-carbon-themed social media short videos had no direct effect on people's willingness to protect the environment, its indirect effects were significant. These indirect effects were achieved through immersion experience and social influence. Subjects who watched narrative videos had a higher level of immersion experience, which in turn was significantly and positively correlated with environmental intention; meanwhile, those who watched non-narrative videos experienced a higher level of social influence, which in turn was significantly and positively correlated with environmental intention. In addition, subjects who viewed high-volume videos experienced a more positive effect on their willingness to protect the environment. This study explored how message design could promote subjects' perceptions and positive attitudes towards environmental protection, with important managerial implications.

RESUMEN

Dimesitylboryl-acceptor (A) and diarylamine-donor (D) substituents are introduced at α positions of BN-doped tetrathienonaphthalene in the same and opposite directions of the B-N bond, namely, B-BN-N and N-BN-B, in order to demonstrate how the substitution patterns influence the photophysical properties. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these D-π-A molecules have been investigated in detail, aided by UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy as well as cyclic voltammetry. We find that both B-BN-N and N-BN-B show the typical intramolecular charge transfer emission. N-BN-B exhibits strong fluorescence with a narrower band gap and stronger Lewis acidity than that of B-BN-N. DFT calculations help give a reasonable explanation that subtle differences in the electronic structure of the host skeleton could also influence the substituents and feed back this effect to the entire molecule.

RESUMEN

Despite the fact that companies increasingly value online star endorsements as Internet celebrity economy booms, scientific knowledge on the effect of online star endorsements on consumers' purchase intention is limited. Based on the theories of self and construal level theory, this study investigates the impact of online star vs. celebrity endorsements on purchase intention and explores the underlying mechanism as well as boundary conditions. The results of four studies reveal the following: (1) Compared with no endorsement, both celebrity endorsements and online star endorsements lead to increases in consumers' purchase intention, with no significant difference between the two. (2) Self-concept mediates these relationships; specifically, celebrity and online star endorsements activate the ideal and actual self respectively, and enhance consumers' willingness to purchase. (3) The effect of endorsements on consumers' purchase intention is moderated by advertising appeals. That is, celebrity endorsements enhance purchase intention when consumers are exposed to symbolic appeals in advertisements, and online star endorsements enhance purchase intention when it is matched with functional advertising appeals.

RESUMEN

BN-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have attracted numerous attentions because of their fascinating optical and electronic properties. In this work, a series of electron-donor (amine)- and -acceptor (borane)-functionalized BN-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were prepared to study the substituents' effect on the photophysical properties. As a result, the compound with both donor and acceptor, BN, exhibits both local emission (LE) and charge-transfer emission (CT) in polar solvents. Especially, the CT emission with a longer wavelength revealed a lifetime as long as millisecond time scale at room temperature, indicating typical phosphorescence characteristics. Low-temperature photoluminescent (PL) spectroscopy and a theoretical study were conducted to help to interpret this phenomenon, and it turned out to be the lowering of the S1 energy level of BN which makes the intersystem crossing favorable. Furthermore, fluoride anion titration experiments exhibit the application potential of the dual-emission phenomenon of BN for ratiometric sensory materials.

RESUMEN

Facile synthesis of BN-functionalized azaborines (4a-4c) was accomplished via Suzuki coupling reactions followed by the electrophilic C-H borylation of benzotrithiophene (BTT). The core structure of BTT enables multiple modifications at the three thiophene rings. Molecular structures of 4a-4c were confirmed by NMR, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Their electronic properties were also examined through photophysical and electrochemical measurements as well as density functional theory computations. The red-shifted absorption and emission of these molecules were demonstrated upon fluoride titration in response to anion binding, leading to a remarkable decrease of the oxidation potential in the electrochemical differential pulse voltammetry scans. This work may provide a new pathway to robust redox-active materials for catalytic applications.
