[Identification and quantitative determination of baclofen in human blood by HPLC with mass spectrometry detection]. / Identifikatsiia i kolichestvennoe opredelenie baklofena v krovi metodom VÉZhKh s mass-spektrometricheskim detektirovaniem.

A method of identification and quantitative determination of baclofen in blood by HPLC with mass spectrometry detection has been developed. It is characterized by high sensitivity, specificity, linearity, accuracy, reproducibility, and a low detection for quantitative determination. The method has been used for diagnostics of acute baclofen poisoning in patients.

[Lethal intoxication with baclofen].

The objective of the present study was to select and develop simpler methods for the quantitative determination of baclofen in blood with the use of HPLC and tandem MS (MS-MS) techniques and its qualitative determination in cadaveric organs by the GC/MS technique. These mathods were shown to be suitable for the purpose of forensic medical analysis, clinical, toxicological, and therapeutic monitoring. The special emphasis is laid on the methods used to investigate the biological materials obtained from the subjects who died from baclofen intoxication.

Opisthorchis invasion is accompanied by the imbalanced lymphocytic subpopulational composition manifested itself as induction of the B-link and, on the contrary, depression of T-lymphocytic populations (CD4+, CD8+), with their weaker helper-suppressor association. The immunocompetent cells were ascertained to show a higher production of TH2 cytokines that had an eosinophil-stumulating effect.

Effect of recombinant interleukin-5, interleukin-3, and eotaxin on apoptosis in eosinophilic granulocytes.

We studied in vitro effects of recombinant interleukin-5, interleukin-3, and eotaxin on programmed death of eosinophils from healthy donors and patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphomas associated with severe blood eosinophilia. Interleukin-5 and eotaxin produced the most potent antiapoptotic effect on eosinophils from healthy donors. In patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, spontaneous apoptosis in eosinophilic leukocytes was low and remained unchanged during incubation with recombinant proteins.

[An experimental and clinical validation of the use of the ultraphonophoresis of a resorcin-formalin mixture in chronic periodontitis]. / Eksperim,ental'no-klinicheskoe obosnovanie primeneniia ul'trafonoforeza rezortsin-formalinovoi smesi pri khronicheskom periodontite.

Analysis of the parameters of the resorcin-formalin mixture of 10-40% concentration in an ultrasonic field (28.5 kHz), study of the phoretic activity of these mixtures on the section specimens of removed human teeth helped develop the method of ultraphonophoresis of the resorcin-formalin mixture on the teeth with poorly patent and nonpatent radical roots in patients with chronic destructive periodontium. Clinical follow-up of 42 patients showed the efficacy of this method.

[Liver cirrhosis and lymphoproliferative diseases]. / Tsirroz pecheni i limfoproliferativnye zabolevaniia.

Seven patients suffering from liver cirrhosis combined with lymphoproliferative diseases: chronic lymphoid leukemia (n = 4), lymphosarcoma (n = 3) were placed under observation. Viral etiology of liver cirrhosis was established in 4 patients (HBV markers were revealed in the serum in 2 and in liver tissue in 1) and was assumed in 3 patients (the lack in the anamnesis of other hepatotropic factors; multilobular form of liver cirrhosis). In 5 patients, the lymphoproliferative disease was diagnosed 2-30 years after the appearance of the symptoms of chronic diffuse liver disease. In 2 patients liver cirrhosis and hemoblastosis showed up simultaneously. The role of hepatitis viruses, HBV in particular, in the onset of lymphoproliferative diseases is under discussion.

[Angiosarcoma of the spleen with consumption coagulopathy]. / Angiosarkoma selezenki s koagulopatiei potrebleniia.

A female patient with intravitally diagnosed splenic angiosarcoma is described. Progress of the cancerous process was attended by the development of consumption coagulopathy with profound fibrinogenopenia and thrombocytopenia. In this case the DIC syndrome was characterized by the lack of systemic fibrinolysis activation. The rupture of the cavernous tumor of the spleen and profound disorders of hemostasis determined profuse intraperitoneal hemorrhage and the patient's death. Diagnostic criteria that contribute to early recognition of splenic angiosarcoma are suggested.

The authors have made an analysis of literature and their own data on the differential diagnosis between angiosarcoma of the spleen and idiopathic myelofibrosis that is considered to be necessary due to the similarity of laboratory and clinical symptoms of these diseases.
