RESUMEN

Mast cells (MCs) play a significant role in various diseases, and their activation and degranulation can trigger inflammatory responses and barrier damage. Several studies have indicated that vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) exerts ameliorates neurological injury, and regulates gut MC degranulation. However, there is limited research on the modulatory effect of VNS on MCs in both the gut and brain in brain ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in this process. We aim to develop a minimally invasive, targeted and convenient VNS approach to assess the impact of VNS and to clarify the relationship between VNS and MCs on the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke. We utilized middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/r) to induce brain I/R injury. After the experiment, the motor function and neurofunctional impairments of the rats were detected, and the gastrointestinal function, blood-brain barrier (BBB) and intestinal barrier damage, and systemic and local inflammation were evaluated by Nissl, TTC staining, Evans blue, immunofluorescence staining, transmission electron microscopy, western blot assays, ELISA, and fecal 16S rRNA sequencing methods. Our research confirmed that our minimally invasive VNS method is a novel approach for stimulating the vagus nerve. VNS alleviated motor deficits and gastrointestinal dysfunction while also suppressing intestinal and neuroinflammation. Additionally, VNS ameliorated gut microbiota dysbiosis in rats. Furthermore, our analysis indicated that VNS reduces chymase secretion by modulating MCs degranulation and improves intestinal and BBB damage. Our results showed that VNS treatment can alleviate the damage of BBB and colonic barrier after cerebral I/R by modulating mast cell degranulation, and alleviates systemic inflammatory responses.

RESUMEN

Neuroinflammation is a common pathological process in various neurological disorders, including stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and others. It involves the activation of glial cells, particularly astrocytes, and the release of inflammatory mediators. Lipocalin-2 (Lcn-2) is a secretory protein mainly secreted by activated astrocytes, which can affect neuroinflammation through various pathways. It can also act as a pro-inflammatory factor by modulating astrocyte activation and polarization through different signaling pathways, such as NF-κB, and JAK-STAT, amplifying the inflammatory response and aggravating neural injury. Consequently, Lcn-2 and astrocytes may be potential therapeutic targets for neuroinflammation and related diseases. This review summarizes the current knowledge on the role mechanisms, interactions, and therapeutic implications of Lcn-2 and astrocytes in neuroinflammation.

Difficulties of in vitro culture and genetic manipulation of Eimeria tenella have hindered the screening of virulence factors in this parasite. In this study, the E. tenella rhoptry protein 30 (EtROP30) was expressed in Toxoplasma gondii (RH∆Ku80-EtROP30), and its effect on the proliferation and virulence of parasites was investigated. The results revealed that the expression of EtROP30 had no impact on the invasion and egress processes. However, the RH∆Ku80-EtROP30 strain formed larger plaques compared to the RH∆Ku80, indicating that the EtROP30 expression promotes T. gondii proliferation. Furthermore, the RH∆Ku80-EtROP30 strain exhibited greater pathogenicity, resulting in earlier mortality and shorter overall survival time compared to RH∆Ku80. These results imply that EtROP30 expression facilitates parasite intracellular proliferation and virulence in mice, suggesting that EtROP30 might be a candidate virulence factor of E. tenella.

As a common clinical disease, neuropathic pain is difficult to be cured with drugs. The occurrence and progression of pain is closely related to the response of spinal microglia. Aspartof the regulation of microglialactivity,PD-L1 playsacriticalrole. Loss of PD-L1 promoted the polarization of M1-like microglia. Increased expression of PD-L1 promoted M2-like polarization. Electroacupuncture has a significant analgesic effect in clinical practice, but its specific mechanism remains to be further explored. In this study, we verified the role of PD-L1 in EA analgesia and the underlying molecular mechanism through spinal nerve ligation (SNL) in rats and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated BV2 microglial cells. Forbehavioralstudiesofrats,mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured, and spinal cord neuros were examined under transmission electron microscopyto determine changes to their myelin structure. The expression levels of PD-L1 and M1/M2-specific markers in rat spinal cord and BV2 microglial cells were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining and Western blot analysis. Our study showed that EA increased the pain threshold, reduced the destruction of myelin structure, promoted the expression of PD-L1 and PD-1, inhibited the MAPK signaling pathway, and promoted the conversion of microglial polarization from the M1 phenotype to the M2 phenotype in SNL rats. PD-L1 knockdown reversed these effects of EA. In addition, PD-L1 knockdown activated the MAPK signaling pathway, promoted microglial polarization to the M1 phenotype, decreased the expression of anti-inflammatory mediators and increased the expression of proinflammatory factors in LPS-stimulated BV2 microglial cells. Our results showed that EA may regulate the excitability of primary afferent neurons through PD-L1 and then inhibit the MAPK signaling pathway to promote the transformation of activated M1 microglia into M2 microglia, reduce inflammatory reactions, and finally achieve analgesic effects. A therapy targeting PD-L1 may be an effective strategy for treating neuropathic pain.

As drug-resistant strains of Eimeria have emerged and concerns about drug residues in poultry have grown, there is renewed interest in identifying natural alternatives to control coccidiosis. Cedrol, a natural sesquiterpene alcohol, was used in this study to test anticoccidial efficacy in chicks. Both the control and treatment groups were orally challenged with 2 × 104 oocysts per chicken. Chicks administered with cedrol had reduced oocyst count, an increase in the relative weight gain rate of chicks, and a decrease in severe swelling of the cecum. Based on the above, ACI was calculated and the cedrol group reached moderate anti-coccidial activity (169.34). In chickens treated with cedrol, there were no changes in serum biochemical parameters, but oxidative stress biomarkers and cytokine levels associated with anticoccidial response were altered. These changes suggest that the administered concentration of cedrol did not have any adverse effects on the chickens while enhancing their antioxidant capacity and immunity, leading to an improved anticoccidial ability. In conclusion, this study shows that the addition of cedrol in poultry production has an anticoccidial effect and successfully improves growth performance during the growth period.

Inspired by the concept of ionic charge-transfer complexes for the Mott insulator, integer-charge-transfer (integer-CT) cocrystals are designed for NIR photo-thermal conversion (PTC). With amino-styryl-pyridinium dyes and F4TCNQ (7,7',8,8'-Tetracyano-2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroquinodimethane) serving as donor/acceptor (D/A) units, integer-CT cocrystals, including amorphous stacking "salt" and segregated stacking "ionic crystal", are synthesized by mechanochemistry and solution method, respectively. Surprisingly, the integer-CT cocrystals are self-assembled only through multiple D-A hydrogen bonds (C-H⋅⋅⋅X (X=N, F)). Strong charge-transfer interactions in cocrystals contribute to the strong light-harvesting ability at 200-1500 nm. Under 808 nm laser illumination, both the "salt" and "ionic crystal" display excellent PTC efficiency beneficial from ultrafast (∼2 ps) nonradiative decay of excited states. Thus integer-CT cocrystals are potential candidates for rapid, efficient, and scalable PTC platforms. Especially amorphous "salt" with good photo/thermal stability is highly desirable in practical large-scale solar-harvesting/conversion applications in water environment. This work verifies the validity of the integer-CT cocrystal strategy, and charts a promising path to synthesize amorphous PTC materials by mechanochemical method in one-step.

Objective: The third generation of antiepileptic medication (ASM) perampanel (PER), is mostly used as an add-on treatment for refractory epilepsy patients, and rarely used as a monotherapy. This study aims to observe the efficacy and assess the cognitive effects of PER monotherapy in patients with self-limited epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (SeLECTS). Patients and Methods: Through screening, 86 patients who were first diagnosed with SeLECTS and treated with PER monotherapy were included in this study. All patients were followed up at least 12 months, and Evaluated the efficacy and safety of PER by observing the seizures of patients. At the same time, we used the P300 event-related potential (ERP) component and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) to evaluate the cognitive changes in children before and after treatment with PER. Results: Ten percent of the children experienced adverse effects, such as dizziness, gait instability, and irritability. The drug retention rate at the last follow-up was 98.83%. Further more, the P300 ERP component and WISC-IV tests were performed no significant difference before and 12 months after PER monotherapy in SeLECTS children. Conclusion: The third-generation of ASM PER monotherapy had a clear effect in children with SeLECTS. A small dose of PER can control seizures well and has no obvious effect on cognitive development.

Objective: Anti-contactin-associated protein 2 (CASPR2)-related autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is more common in adults than in children. Clinical understanding of anti-CASPR2-antibody (Ab)-related AE, diagnosis and treatment standards are lacking in children. Therefore, this retrospective study on clinical symptoms and treatment outcomes in children with anti-CASPR2-Ab-related AE was conducted, to improve the clinical understanding of the disease, its diagnosis and treatment. Methods: This study retrospectively assessed children with anti-CASPR2-Ab-related AE from January 1, 2020, to June 30, 2022, in the Department of Neurology at Hunan Children's Hospital. Data regarding demographics, clinical symptoms, laboratory examinations, electroencephalography (EEG), imaging, and curative were collected. Results: Thirteen patients were positive for serum anti-CASPR2-Ab (age at manifestation, 25 months to 13 years old; median, 8.1 years old; male-to-female ratio, 8/5). One patient (P1) had dual Abs, including anti-CASPR2 and anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor Abs; his symptoms were more severe than those of children with anti-CASPR2 Abs alone. The clinical symptoms of the 13 patients with anti-CASPR2 Ab were movement disorders (9/13), consciousness disorders (9/13), abnormal demeanor (8/13), seizures (7/13), language disorders (6/13), fever (6/13), pain (4/13), involuntary exercise (4/13), poor diet (4/13), vomiting (3/13), sleep disorders (3/13), mood disorders (3/13), eczema/itching/redness (2/13), sweating (P8), urinary disorders (P13), and cognitive disorders (P9). No tumors were found in any patient. Additionally, EEG results of six patients were abnormal and imaging findings such as abnormal signals were found in 10 patients. Moreover, all except one patient recovered well after treatment; P1 with overlapping syndrome underwent recovery for more than 2 years. None of the patients who recovered have had a relapse. Discussion and conclusion: Anti-CASPR2-Ab-related AE has several clinical manifestations. Anti-CASPR2-Ab levels were higher in male patients than in female patients. Moreover, related tumors are relatively rare. Most patients benefit from immunotherapy and have a lower chance of recurrence in the short term. Furthermore, different from patients who had anti-CASPR2-Ab AE alone, those with overlapping syndrome had a severe and complex condition requiring lengthy treatment and rehabilitation. Additional studies are needed to evaluate the long-term prognosis of these patients.

MORN proteins play a key role in the cytoskeletal structure of eukaryotes and are essential for the close arrangement of the endoplasmic reticulum and plasma membrane. A gene with nine MORN motifs (TGGT1_292120, named TgMORN2) was identified in the Toxoplasma gondii genome; it was presumed to belong to the MORN protein family and to have the function of forming the cytoskeleton, which affects the survival of T. gondii. However, the genetic deletion of MORN2 did not noticeably affect parasite growth and virulence. Using adjacent protein labeling techniques, we identified a network of TgMORN2 interactions, which mainly included endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress)-related proteins. In exploring these data, we found that the pathogenicity of the KO-TgMORN2 strain was significantly reduced in the case of tunicamycin-induced ER stress. Reticulon TgRTN (TGGT1_226430) and tubulin ß-Tubulin were identified as interaction proteins of TgMORN2. Collectively, TgMORN2 plays a role in ER stress, which lays a foundation for further research on the function of the MORN protein in T. gondii.

In the struggle to limit global climate change and rising temperatures, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) was held in Egypt last November. Bringing together nations to recognize climate change as a global concern and to create new "building blocks" to enhance the implementation of the Paris Agreement through actions that can move the world toward a greener, and carbon free future. This study examines a panel of high-income economies from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to investigate the empirical linkage between Green Innovations (GI), Disaggregated trade (exports and imports), Environmental policy stringency (EPS), and Consumption-based carbon dioxide emissions from 1990 to 2020. We proceed with the panel cointegration check based on the results of the diagnostic tests. The method of moment quantile regressions (MMQR) is used to investigate the relationships between CCO2 and various variables in different quantiles. The data show that GI, export, imports, and EPS are major contributors in explaining the substantial variance in CCO2 emissions in the chosen panel. Specifically, severe environmental rules boost the benefits of green technologies through the use of environmentally friendly technology. Imports, on the other hand, have been determined to be harmful to environmental quality. As a result, member economies should reform their environmental policies to include consumption-based emissions objectives and discourage people' desire for carbon-intensive items from developing countries. This will eventually result in a decrease in consumption-based carbon emissions, assisting in the achievement of true emissions reduction goals and COP27 targets.

Femtosecond transient absorption, nanosecond transient absorption, and nanosecond resonance Raman spectroscopy techniques coupled with density functional theory calculations were performed to unravel the photocyclization and photorelease mechanisms of a diarylethene based compound (1o) containing two caged groups (OMe and OAc). Since the ground state parallel (P) conformer of 1o with a large dipole moment is stable in DMSO, the fs-TA transformations observed for 1o in DMSO mainly have contributions from the P conformer, which undergoes an intersystem crossing to generate a corresponding triplet state species. In a less polar solvent like 1,4-dioxane, in addition to the P path behavior of 1o, an antiparallel (AP) conformer can also take place to give a photocyclization reaction from the Franck-Condon state and finally give a deprotection via this pathway. This work provides a deeper understanding for these reactions, which not only facilitate the applications of diarylethene compounds but also help for the future design of functionalized diarylethene derivatives for particular applications.

Background: There is a great obstacle in prenatal diagnosis of fetal anomalies due to their considerable genetic and clinical heterogeneity. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) has been confirmed as a successful option for genetic diagnosis in pediatrics, but its clinical utility for prenatal diagnosis remains to be limited. Methods: A total of 60 fetuses with abnormal ultrasound findings underwent karyotyping or chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA), and those with negative results were further subjected to WES. The identified variants were classified as pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) and the variant of uncertain significance (VUS). Pregnancy outcomes were obtained through a telephone follow-up. Results: Twelve (20%, 12/60) fetuses were diagnosed to have chromosomal abnormalities using karyotyping or CMA. Of the remaining 48 cases that underwent WES, P/LP variants were identified in 14 cases (29.2%), giving an additional diagnostic yield of 23.3% (14/60). The most frequently affected organ referred for prenatal WES was the head or neck system (40%), followed by the skeletal system (39.1%). In terms of pathogenic genes, FGFR3 was the most common diagnostic gene in this cohort. For the first time, we discovered five P/LP variants involved in SEC24D, FIG4, CTNNA3, EPG5, and PKD2. In addition, we identified three VUSes that had been reported previously. Outcomes of pregnancy were available for 54 cases, of which 24 cases were terminated. Conclusion: The results confirmed that WES is a powerful tool in prenatal diagnosis, especially for fetuses with ultrasonographic anomalies that cannot be diagnosed using conventional prenatal methods. Additionally, newly identified variants will expand the phenotypic spectrum of monogenic disorders and greatly enrich the prenatal diagnostic database.

Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular protozoan parasite that infects most warm-blooded animals, including humans, and causes toxoplasmosis. In this study, the pathogenicity of RH strain of T. gondii in broiler chicks was investigated and the susceptible tissues of chicks were clarified. Fourteen-day-old broiler chicks were injected intraperitoneally with 1 × 107, 1 × 106, and 1 × 105 tachyzoites of T. gondii, respectively. The results showed that the spleen and lungs were frequently positive for T. gondii DNA. Moreover, in chicks, infection with only 1 × 107 tachyzoites resulted in clinical symptoms, with lower weight gain, higher body temperature, anorexia and apathy, indicating that chicks are insusceptible to T. gondii infection. Then, this study investigated the relationship between T. gondii survival and chick body temperature. In the experiment, the invasion and proliferation of T. gondii were evaluated at 37 °C and 41 °C, respectively, and the survival of the parasites was significantly inhibited at 41 °C. In conclusion, broiler chicks are insusceptible to T. gondii infection, and the higher body temperature compared to other susceptible animals is a key factor in the reduction of T. gondii pathogenicity.

We had shown in our previous study that TgUrm1 (ubiquitin-related Modifier 1) was involved in the regulation of anti-oxidant stress in Toxoplasma gondii by conjugating with TgAhp1. It is generally believed that Urm1 binds to target proteins through a mechanism involving Uba (ubiquitin-like activator protein). Here, we identified the TgUrm1-exclusive ubiquitin-like activator-TgUba1, which was located in the cytoplasm of Toxoplasma. TgUba1 contained three domains, including the atrophin-1 domain (ANT1), the E1-like domain (AD), and the rhodanese homology domain (RHD). We explored the interaction of TgUba1 with TgUrm1, and the AD domain was essential for the interaction of the two proteins. The TgUba1 knockout and complementary mutants were obtained based on CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology. The knockout of TgUba1 attenuated parasite proliferation and virulence in mice, but not invasion and egress processes, revealing the pivotal role played by TgUba1 in T. gondii survival. Meanwhile, the conjugate band of TgUrm1 was significantly reduced under oxidative stress stimulation without TgUba1, indicating that TgUba1 enhanced the targeted conjugation ability of TgUrm1 in response to oxidative stress, especially under diamide (Dia) stimulation. Furthermore, eleven TgUba1-interacting proteins were identified by proximity-based protein labeling techniques, relating them to ubiquitin-like modifications, anti-oxidative stress and metabolic regulation processes. In conclusion, TgUba1 was essential for T. gondii survival and might be a potential ubiquitin-like activator protein for TgUrm1.

Electroacupuncture (EA) has both anti-inflammatory and cardio-protective effects. Activation of calpain pathway is involved in several myocardiopathy. In sepsis, the role of calpain-2-regulated STAT3 in cardio-protective mechanism of electroacupuncture remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the mechanism by which electroacupuncture reduces cardiac inflammation and apoptosis and improves cardiac function during sepsis. Electroacupuncture pretreatment for 7 days was applied in septic cardiomyopathy model induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). lipopolysaccharide-induced sepsis was associated with a dramatically systemic inflammation and cardiac dysfunction, which was alleviated by electroacupuncture pre-treatment. Lipopolysaccharide resulted in increases of pro-inflammatory factors (TNF-α,IL1ßand IL-6) and apoptosis (TUNEL staining and BAX/Bcl2) via activation of calpain-2/STAT3 pathway.Electroacupuncture pre-treatment inhibited LPS-induced activation of cardiac calpain-2/STAT3 signalling and ameliorated inflammatory and apoptosis. Additionally, inhibition of calpain-2 expression using the corresponding siRNA decreased the Phosphorylation of STAT3,pro-inflammatory factors and apoptosis in lipopolysaccharide- treated cardiomyocytes, confirming that calpain-2 activated p-STAT3 participate in septic cardiomyopathy. Furthermore, suppression of STAT3 by stattic enhanced anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptosis effects of electroacupuncture. These findings reveal mechanisms of electroacupuncture preconditioning protection against cardiac inflammation and apoptosis in sepsis mouse via calpain-2/STAT3 pathway and may provide novel targets for clinical treatments of the sepsis-induced cardiac dysfunction.

BACKGROUND: Tic disorders (TDs), including Tourette syndrome, are childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders characterized by motor and/or vocal tics that commonly affect children's physical and mental health. The pathogenesis of TDs may be related to abnormal neurotransmitters in the cortico-striatal-thalamo-cortical circuitry, especially dopaminergic, glutamatergic, and serotonergic neurotransmitters. The purpose of this study was to preliminarily investigate the differences in the three types of neurotransmitters in plasma and urine between children with TD and healthy children. METHODS: We collected 94 samples of plasma and 69 samples of urine from 3-12-year-old Chinese Han children with TD before treatment. The plasma and urine of the same number of healthy Chinese Han children, matched for age and sex, participating in a physical examination, were collected. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was used to detect the three types of neurotransmitters in the above samples. RESULTS: The plasma levels of norepinephrine, glutamic acid, and γ-aminobutyric acid, and the urine levels of normetanephrine and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid were higher in the TD children than in healthy children. The area under the curve (AUC) values of the above neurotransmitters in plasma and urine analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis were all higher than 0.6, with significant differences. Among them, the combined AUC of dopamine, norepinephrine, normetanephrine, glutamic acid, and γ-aminobutyric acid in the 8-12-year-old subgroup was 0.930, and the sensitivity and specificity for TD were 0.821 and 0.974, respectively (p = 0.000). CONCLUSIONS: There are differences in plasma and urine neurotransmitters between TD children and healthy children, which lays a foundation for further research on the pathogenesis of TD.

Toxoplasma gondii infects almost all warm-blooded animals, and toxoplasmosis is a common zoonotic parasitic disease worldwide. A nested PCR with high specificity and sensitivity was developed in this study based on the data collected on the infection rate of toxoplasmosis in chickens in Shandong province, and the effect of low temperature on the infectivity of tachyzoites was investigated. The sampling data showed that the total prevalence of T. gondii in Shandong province was 12.3%, and the positive rate varied in different regions, ranging from 6.7% to 21%. Chickens were infected with T. gondii under laboratory conditions, and positive chicken hearts were stored under various cold conditions to infect mice for reinfection evaluation. The results demonstrated that the parasites maintained high infectivity in mice even after 6 h of storage at -20 °C ambient temperature, indicating that short-term cryopreservation is not effective in reducing the risk of T. gondii transmission. These results form the basis for assessing the risk of toxoplasmosis contamination in consumed chicken products and provide information on the prevention of parasite transmission from animals to humans.

Ubiquitin-related modifier 1 (Urm1) is a ubiquitin-like molecule (UBL) with the ability to act as a posttranslational protein modifier. Here, we characterized the Toxoplasma gondii homolog of URM1 located in the tachyzoite cytoplasm. The total loss of the TgURM1 resulted in a significant reduction in parasite invasion, replication, and virulence in mice, revealing that TgURM1 plays a pivotal role in T. gondii survival. For TgURM1, urmylation was significantly induced by oxidative stress, and mutations of the C-terminal glycine-glycine motif of TgURM1 blocked the urmylation process. Furthermore, the TgURM1 knockout strain was intolerant to oxidative stress, suggesting that TgURM1 is involved in the oxidative stress process. TgAHP1, an alkyl hydroperoxide reductase, was screened via proximity-based protein labeling techniques and proteomics and was shown to interact with TgURM1 under oxidative stress conditions. In conclusion, TgURM1 is a UBL protein involved in the response of Toxoplasma to oxidative stress. IMPORTANCE T. gondii has an intricate life cycle which involves multiple morphologically and physiologically distinct stages, and posttranslational modifications (PTMs) may be key regulators of protein expression at relevant life cycle stages. In recent years, ubiquitin-like proteins with modification functions have been discovered and studied, including Sumo, Rub1, ATG8, and ATG12. Ubiquitin-related modifier 1 (Urm1) is a ubiquitin-like molecule (UBL), which is considered to be the oldest ubiquitin-like system. In this study, we identified the Urm1 gene in Toxoplasma and explored that the urmylation of Urm1 was significantly induced by oxidative stress. Fewer studies have been conducted on ubiquitin-like proteins of parasites, and our results provide theoretical support for the research of metabolic regulation and antioxidative stress processes in T. gondii.

Pigs are one of several host species for Toxoplasma gondii, and consumption of infected pork may lead to toxoplasmosis in humans. The aim of this study was to develop an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using surface antigen protein 1 (SAG1) of T. gondii for the diagnosis of porcine toxoplasmosis and to perform a serological investigation of pigs in Shandong province, China. A total of 1170 serum samples were collected from 14 cities, and 244 of them (20.85%) were positive. In different areas, the prevalence ranged from 15.63% to 22.98%, which had a significant differentiation. Among the different populations, gestating sows had the highest seroprevalence (25.7%), followed by breeding boars (22.7%), replacement gilts (21.1%), fattening pigs (18.3%) and piglets (17.1%). The rearing environment was also a determinant of seroprevalence, including family farmers (25.5%), large farmers (15.2%) and small farms (22.8%). This study provides information on the seroepidemiological study of T. gondii in pigs in Shandong province, which will be useful in developing strategies for the control of T. gondii infection in pigs.
