RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To describe the ultrasound anatomy of the masticatory muscles based on a comparison of the results of macroscopic and ultrasound studies of the masticatory muscles in vitro. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In the experimental part, a macropreparation of the masticatory muscle was studied; in a clinical example, an ultrasound of the masticatory muscles was performed on a patient with normal occlusion using the author's methods for analyzing echograms. RESULTS: The ultrasound anatomy of the masticatory muscles is described based on a comparison of data from the study of a macroscopic specimen and ultrasound images of the masticatory muscle of an experimental animal. Using a clinical example of a patient with normal occlusion, the results demonstrate the usage of the authors' developments in describing ultrasound images of the masticatory muscles. CONCLUSION: The study resulted in an algorithm for describing ultrasound images of masticatory muscles, including methods for qualitative and quantitative assessment of ultrasound images using proprietary developments involving elements of artificial intelligence technologies.

RESUMEN

THE AIM OF THE STUDY: Was to assess the correlation of various maxillofacial structures in subjects with different types of craniofacial growth. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The results of comparing the morphology of the masseter muscles (thickness, area, echostructure) in 30 volunteers aged from 18 to 25 years without malocclusions and different type of craniofacial growth were presented. RESULTS: A significant correlation between the thickness of the masseter muscles and morphology of the facial skull was observed: the smallest thickness of masseter muscles was in subjects with vertical type of craniofacial growth, the largest - in patients with horizontal type of craniofacial growth. The study results improved ultrasound technique of masseter muscles assessment including methods for measuring the thickness, area and echostructure on ultrasound images. CONCLUSION: The obtained results may be seen as reference points for assessment of the same structures in patients with malocclusions.

RESUMEN

A 6-year-old boy with a skeletal Class III malocclusion was treated with the use of the fixed own design orthodontic appliance. The device includes acrylic-splint with a three-sided (Bertoni) screw mounted in them, an arc element in the region of the front teeth for protractive action on them, metal hooks for the face mask. Orthodontic treatment using that appliance allowed to normalize the upper dental arche in the sagittal and transversal directions. Thus, conditions for normal growth and development of the dentofacial complex were created, which is the main goal of early orthodontic intervention.

RESUMEN

Monitoring of the results was carried out including own sociologic study in the field of orthodotia during the last 6 years. The investigation was done with the help of standardized specially developed questionnaire form reflecting the questions connected with orthodontic help appealability and population motivation to receive it. The received data let to evaluate in dynamics the orthodontic service status and prospects of its development.
